App version check on iPad

Hi,
If the developer has not provided an About options, how can one verify the installed version on the iPad itself?
I am familiar checking this using iTunes...
Cheers,
Roger

I'm not aware of an option for doing so.
If the app is available in your iTunes library on your computer and is should be, and the app hasn't been updated on your iPad which can be done manually only, then your iPad is running the same version as is available in iTunes on your computer.

ipad - how to push Exchange calendar events to iCloud account? MobileIron is used to get Exchange data -- is there an app to push the ipad version of the events to iCloud?
There are two separate calendars on ipad (ios 7.1) one for icloud, one fo exchange. I have tried a couple of calendar apps and while they do a good job of showing the events in the app - they don't push (synch) back to iCloud. Any thoughts on an app that will take my ipad calendars and synch them to a single icloud calendar/account?
    Thanks

    Hi
You asked about a recommendation for an app to paste a group of addresses into the To, Cc or Bcc fields of an email?
Our "MailShot Pro" app is the only one we know of on the App Store that creates special "group contacts" in your address book which contain all your groups email addresses, but can be used just like regular contacts from most of your favourite apps. We now have nearly 50000 people using it, and growing steadily every day.
Here is a link if you would like to know more “MailShot Pro” (itunes link).
A free version is also available if you'd like to try it out with a small nmber of contacts.
If you need any customer support just contact us at the website, we're always happy to help.

  • Some of my apps on both my iPad and iPod Touch no longer have sound.  Others still do.  Checked general settings.  Any other ideas?

Some of my apps on both my iPad and iPod Touch no longer have sound.  Others still do.  I checked general settings.  Any other ideas of how to fix this?

If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.

  • How to check app versions before updating

With the update of itunes 11.0.3 the update apps has changed. I get a view of all the icons of apps needing updated and if I click on one it gives some info about the app (version and whats new). However, it does not show which version of ios the app requires. I do not want to update any apps that my ios device does not support so how do I check this before deciding to update?

what used to be links to the store page for the app are now only links to a basic description of the update and no indication of the ios version required.
Ctrl-click the app in the "Updates"panel and select "Show in iTunes Store" from the pop-up menu.
This will give you the full description from the iTUnes Store page. Scrool down to the bottom of the page "Information". You should see something like this:  Look for "Requires".

  • I upgraded the Pages version on my iPad and iPhone some weeks ago. The App has not synced previous data on both AND it's unstable on both. Luckily I didn't upgrade on my Mac where the old version is working ok! What to do??

I upgraded the Pages version on my iPad and iPhone some weeks ago. The App has not synced previous data on both AND it's unstable on both. Luckily I didn't upgrade on my Mac where the old version is working ok!

You need the new versions of both to sync data between them. If you don't have the new versions on your Mac, they will not sync.
BTW, the new versions do NOT overwrite the old on Mac. When you install them, the old versions are retained.

    1. What interval does an ipad check in with the app store?
    2. What triggers communication?
    3. Can app store check ins be turned off?

Once you've purchased an App, it's yours for life.  You can however, hide it.  To do so, on your iPad, open this link and follow the directions:

  • Version check of JRE in app

    Hi,
I want my application(not web-based or whatever) to know which version of JRE the client is using.
The thing is, I know it's with System.getProperty("java.version"), but I want to compare it with another version string in the application. The user JRE version must be equal or greater than the version.
For ex: if the application was build with 1.4.0_01 and the user has 1.4.1_01, it must be accepted, but not if it's 1.3.x or whatever.
I've done a temporary method with a string tokenizer to evaluate each number and see if it's up to date, but is there a method or utility already there that checks if the version is equal or better?
    Thx
    Frank

i just have the same kind of problem. even more so, since i noticed that there are possibly more non-numeric characters in the version string, like "1.4.0-beta3", so even using a StringTokenizer splitting the string by the "." and "_" characters (like i think you do, from the example in your posting), the last part would cause a NumberFormatException in many cases.
of course you could include the "-" character in the tokenizer and drop the last token, but you can never be sure if there won't be version strings like "1.5.2b" or such in the future. a workaround here would be taking each character from the token, check if it's a number, add it to another string if so, or stop if it's a non-numeric character or the end of the string. then you could transform the constructed string into an integer and compare it to the corresponding part of the required version.
however, this seems to be quite a lot of not too elegant trickery which i'm not even sure will work in all cases, and it's definitely too much work for a simple version check. anyway, i haven't found any other way yet, too :/ if anyone knows, please let me know...

How can I control the volume in a Apple Tv movie from my remote control App. In my IPad ?.

There is not now, nor has there ever been a version of flash for any iOS device.
Adobe has abandoned mobile flash, so there never will be.
Browsers like iswifter or photon may work for you, but don't hold your breath.
Check app store for an app of whatever game you want.

  • The app store on my iPad looks like a broken web page?

Hi! First, let me apologise if this is in the wrong ocation. If it is, please move the thread. Thanks! (Sorry.)
    Now only the problem...
I'm no newb to technology so I'll do what I can to explain this. It's an intermittent and unusual issue, basically, and what happens is that for most of the day the app store looks like a broken web page (like CSS and images aren't loading), and I can only access it normally every now and then. But here's where it gets weird.
The PC iTunes is fine (both web and application) and loads images, behaves normally, and so on. No issues there. All sites are accessible, and I have no trouble reaching Apple servers (I've run latency checks).
    What I've also tried:
    - Rebooting my router (multiple times).
    - Closing all apps on the iPad (including the store) then trying the app store (as the only app open).
    - Rebooting the iPad, then trying again.
    - Signing out of the store, rebooting the iPad, and signing in before trying again.
    - Doing the above step but with all apps closed first.
    - Browsing on the iPad (via Maven and Safari), both are fine. No weird Internet issues.
What boggles the mind is that the PC iTunes and web version of the app store works. I mean, if I go to the web app store and look at the page for a game, I get images of the game. If I use my iPad, I get the border of the image with a [?] icon in it. (As I said, it looks like a broken web page where CSS and images just aren't loading.)
Sometimes, but more rarely, I'll have trouble connecting to the store.
And occasionally (but even more rarely) it behaves just fine.
If it wasn't for the intermittent nature of it I'd be convinced that I'd somehow corrupted the app store on the iPad somehow. But the more I think about it the more I wonder if this is my ISP somehow being ridiculous despite the web/PC application working. And currently I'm really at a loss. It's worse because when I want to sit down and browse the app store to buy some things, I can't. So this is stopping me from giving Apple money.
It might just be my ISP though. My ISP is Surfwise, if it helps. As I said, no other Internet issues at all.

    Boo. I can't edit. Sorry...
I also want to note that my iPad is -not- rooted and is quite new. And also that it's a third generation iPad.

    Hello r253,
The following troubleshooting steps can help get your documents to reappear on your devices.
Documents I've updated on my Mac or uploaded from iCloud.com don't appear on my iOS device
If you're using an iWork for iOS app (Pages, Numbers, or Keynote), check the iCloud system requirements and make sure that you're using the latest version of iWork. For third party apps, check the documentation that came with the app, or check with the app developer to make sure the app supports iCloud. App Store application descriptions often indicate whether the app supports iCloud.
Go to Apple () menu > System Preferences on your Mac. Click iCloud and confirm that you're signed in to iCloud and the Documents & Data checkbox is selected.
After opening your iOS app, wait a few minutes for the documents to appear. Your iOS device may not have connected to iCloud since changes were made to the document at iCloud.com or on your other devices.
Try creating a new document on your iOS device, then check again for the documents from iCloud to appear.
Go to Settings > iCloud > Documents & Data and confirm that Use Cellular Data is turned on.
Confirm that you're connected to the Internet by checking for an Edge, 3G, 4G, LTE, or Wi-Fi icon in your device's status bar. Test your connection by opening apple.com in Safari.
Try resetting iCloud Documents & Data service.

  • I have problems accessing apps installed in my iPad through iTunes 12

I have several apps installed in my iPad, among them Adobe Reader and AVPlayerHD. With the previous version of iTunes it was easy to access these apps and upload content directly to the apps in order to see this content on the iPad 3rd gen, model MD368B/A.
Now I can't even find a way to access the apps via iTunes!
I see the Apps item on the menu on the left side column. Click there and I see a list of apps on the right side. Click on Adobe Reader icon for example and nothing happens. In the previous version of iTunes I could see the icon, click on it and there would be an area where I could either drag content to it or click a button to upload it. Now that functionality seems to be hidden or has disappeared.
To say this absolute disregard to the user experience from Apple is frustrating is an understatement. Why does the company insist on being this disrespectful to us users' time? Why should I have to put effort into 'learning' how to navigate a new interface when all these changes from the previous version seem superficial, irrelevant and just plain idiotic? There seems to be absolute no advantage to this new user interface.
And I used to love Apple. I have used its products for more than 20 years. In part that's the biggest annoyance. There is really no alternative, so if they keep messing with these absurd interface changes and lack of awareness and respect for the user's experience there's little to do about. Except rant like this on such a forum. Is there any hope anyone from the company might ever listen?
Any help with finding the way to upload content to Apps installed in my iPad via iTunes would be very, very much appreciated.
