Appending FLV files together on the fly

I have a website that accepts video uploads. I then of a
content management tool that always me to browse and uploaded
videos and approve or deny them.
For any I approve, I then convert the video to FLV, i then
want the automated process on my site to append a cookie cutter
trailer video to that uploaded video.
so my question is, how to append one FLV to another FLV
through code on the fly on the website?

hi,
with fms you can create a serverside stream playlist using
the stream object, this means you can interlace your trailer/advert
to appear anywhere within the stream dynamically without needing to
splice and reencode any videos you have.

Just thought i'd let you know, your links are broken so its
hard to give you any advice. Depending on the pixel size of the
movie, your data rate might be too low. The bigger pixel size of
the file the higher data rate is needed to keep details clear and
pixelation down.
A good middle of the road data rate i've found is around
1500kbps. If you are hosting the file, just make sure to set the
buffer time to 3-4 seconds, to allow the users internet connection
to keep ahead.

Can .air installer some files together with the application?

I have an installer.air that is created by Adobe Flash. I have another file called settings.cfg which is needed for my application to run. How do let the computer auto install settings.cfg into the installation directory together with the application when i run installer.air? Currently, I need to manually place the settings.cfg into the application installed directory.

HELP! - How do I append swf files together?

I currently have a swf slideshow (EHS.swf) and would like to
append another as a continuation (EHS1.swf). My problem is -
EHS1.swf appends but plays very fast. My current fps for both files
are 20fps. I would like to append more, but I can't seem to find
the right way of appending the first.
I tried creating the slideshow as one file, but when i
reached 16000th frame, the tween would not work anymore. So I had
to find a way to put them together. I am not sure if loadMovie is
the best way of doing it.
Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated. I am so new
to this that I don't know what I'm doing.

same problems, im desperate (no excuse, just new on this stuff).
I tried your solutions, but failed. the second movie clip
plays very fast around 3 seconds when it should be more than 40
seconds. i have to be doing something wrong.
here's what im trying to accomplish:
first layer - background music
second layer - loaded first clip (1-15000 frame)

second layer - loaded second clip on the 15001th frame

Firefox will not show links to flv files. I get the error message for each flv file: "File not found. Firefox can't find the file at (path) .flv." Any mov and swf files in this same path will show. I can see the videos in Safari so the paths are correct.

PC Suite converts flac music files on the fly to A...

I convert my music to AAC 128 with the Nokia PC Suite App. I drop files by hand onto the application and it converts it correctly.
Now I a have a lot of files encoded in flac format. I KNOW ALREADY that the 5320 does not play flac files.
(and I also know that there is the free app oggplay that plays flac, but because oggplay cannot use the hardware buttons of the Nokia 5320 this is not a solution for me).
But is it possible to have flac files converted on the fly when I drop them onto PC Suite. At the moment it doesn't seem to work so I guess Nokia Suite cannot read flac files to convert them to AAC?
Any way to change this?

Just to clarify:
I read the topics about flac on this board and I DO NOT want to add to the flac support questions. I do not need flac files to play on tthe 5320.
All I wanna do is convert the flac files on the fly with Nokia Suite (to AAC or eAAC+ or whatever is supported) and at the moment it seems its not working. So I would like a confirmation if it is not supported for conversion or if I am doing something wrong or maybe my PC Suite version is not the right one.

FLV file not showing up on page

I am a novice with Dreamweaver. I created a site several
years ago using just Contribute 2. Yesterday I used Adobe Media
Encoder to encode some QTs to FLV (.f4v) files using a preset for
Flash 8 compatible FLV files. I created a completely new html page
in Dreamweaver and inserted the FLV file onto the page. When I use
"live view" the page works and plays the FLV file perfectly. Then I
save the file and save to the server. The page updates perfectly
EXCEPT for the flv file. In Firefox it says I need the latest Flash
version, (which I don't) in Safari, it just shows up as a blank
spot on the page, but there is a warning at the bottom of the page
and it allows you to see what the error is.
The browsers "activity" window says:

Did part of the code - the FLVplayer - not get uploaded to
the server maybe? What could have gone wrong and how do I fix it. I
did not write special code to get the FLV file to play on the web,
I just used the insert function and thought that Dreamweaver was
going to do the rest for me "behind the scenes."
Any help would be much appreciated. I read as many "help"
files as I could, but I just don't know what I'm searching for. The
website is www.veralith.com. I'm trying to update the "demo" page
by adding about two dozen FLV files, eventually. Right now, there's
only supposed to be one on that page, but it's not showing

Hmm. I just did a test with CS3 and it did exactly that.
1. Created a new HTML page and saved it in the defined site
folder
2. Insert->Media->Flash Video
3. Browse to the .flv file (also in the local site)
4. Chose a skin
5. [OK]
6. Save
A dialog box appeared informing me that it created a Scripts
folder and
that I should upload that folder to my server.
There are now two .swf files in the same folder as the new
.html file.
They were not there before.
1. FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf
2. Clear_Skin_1.swf

SWF/FLV files show white/black bars on sides of frame

I have a recurring issue of bars showing up on the left and right side of my swf/flv frames. The good news is the video plays on our site. The bad news is the bars show up on some of the flash files (like on testimonials.html) and not on others (like wedding.html), even though I perceive I'm copying in the same code.

1st. I like many other will not download a zip file, can you post a link to the site?
It may be if you are using the same code but only changing the swf/flv file name, that the swf/flv's are smaller than the size specified in your object code - width="600" height="366".
If the swf/flv's size is smaller then the player will be the size specified, but your swf/flv will be centralized inside the player, (unless otherwise specified) resulting in the white/black bars.

Flash Player for FLV files with alpha channel encoded

My goal is to play the the transparent background flash video on the bottom right hand corner similar to the video on this website : http://www.dropshipblueprint.com/
I already have the FLV file with alpha channel encoded. I was made to understand I will need a special flash player that can read alpha channel in the flv file to make the background transparent? Is this correct? If yes, then how to accomplish this or where do I get that player, maybe opensourece player? If the player is not a solution then how do I accomplish my end objective taking into consideration I have the FLV file with the alpha channel encoded. Thanks for your help. Sam

Welcome to the forum.
Where do you need to play this "sprite" (the name for such a Flash video)?
If you need to add that to a Video, then there could be a few challenges in PrE.
If you need to add it to a Web site, then Flash Player (free from Adobe) should be able to display that.
Can you please give us just a bit more info, on how you wish to use the sprite?

Controller for .swf and .flv files is disappearing

When I place an .swf or .flv file in Dreamweaver, the controller, which I created in Flash, disappears when previewed in Safari. Do I forget about creating a controller in Flash before exporting to the site directory in Dreamweaver and create it in Dreamweaver instead? Can someone either tell me in simple terms how to do this, or direct me to a tutorial? Many thanks.

If you put the page, the .flv file, the .swf files, and the Scripts folder online, we should be able to help. Otherwise, all we can do is make wild guesses as to what you've done.
BTW, the most common mistake is forgetting to upload the Scripts folder if this is what I think it is.

Where to put my .flv files

I have the developer version of flash media server set up. I
also have a flash video file with the name p1f1.flv. What do I have
to do to view this video (streamed) in a browser? Can't find a
cookbook or tutorial explaining this.

You can't connect to FMS directly from the browser. You need
a flash movie (.swf) to make the connection and play the video.
It's in the docs.
FLV files go in the streams directory of your application
(also in the docs).

New to Soundbooth....How can I export audio from a .flv file?

Hi,
I am sorta new to SB. My girlfriend has purchased a study program that has numerous .flv files on a DVD. She has asked if I can take the audio and convert each movie to an .mp3, (so that she can listen to the videos on her Iphone). I figured I could open them in SB and then export as an .mp3, which would work fine on her Iphone.
The problem I run into is that when I open the .flv files in SB, the video appears, but the audio doesnot. The .flv videos play fine in every other program. Am I doing something wrong? I figure since she purchased the DVDs (and owns the study program), that I am not doing anything illegal by removing the audio. Are they encrypted?
Any other way to do this?

Use the Share menu. Choose Export Using QuickTime.
Choose Sound to AIFF.

Positioning external flv files on stage??

Hy, i am loading 3 flv files so that the first file plays once and the other two loop afterwards. Now i am interested is it possible to position the flv files on the stage to certain coordinates when they start to play (so for example that the first flv plays as default in the centre, the second flv file plays a little bit right and the third plays a little bit left). This is the code i'm using:

FLV file doesn't start or play

Brand new to Strobe, watched a couple vids you all put out and downloaded the StrobeMediaPlayback_1.5.1-full.zip. Used setup.htm to create code...my flv was encoded with Sorenson Squeeze 4.1 using Spark Pro codec...I copied the file StrobeMediaPlayback.swf to my source folder on my computer (testing local) put the flv in there too...made sure paths were set correctly...when I launch the web page (locally) for testing I see the player load but when I hit play I get error "We are having problems with playback. We appologize..."
So I built my own component player using Flash MX 2004 (I know it's an old version) and put this player in the same location and my flv file will play with this player but not the Strobe...am I missing something? Is there supposed to be more files copied into the source folder than just StrobeMediaPlayback.swf? Does strobe not play flv files encoded with the Spark Pro codec...I think these are h.263? Any help would be great...thanks.

Hi,
SMP was designed to play files from an URL. If you tested it on your file system, providing the source would not work as expected.
setting in the flashvars verbose=true will give you a more detailed error message.
My recommendation is to host both the played video file and the player on a local web server and to play or debug from there.

Can't Open .flv Files in Flash Player

I have Flash and Flash Player 9 on my Mac OS v.10.4.11. I
cannot open any .flv files with the player. Many are files that I
encoded with the Adobe Flash CS3 Video Encoder. When I double-click
on an .flv file, it opens the player, but no file. Same if I try to
open the file from within the player.
Anybody know what could be the problem?

That is because you can't open FLV files.
You can import them into an FLA for playback. Or you can
publish a swf that dynamically loads the FLV and plays it back, but
you will need to either use a Playback component or use
Actionscript to do that.
