Apple delete my post in this forum?!?!

Apple delete my post about complain mc723 today..... I am very disapointed they dont give some problem teoubleshooter but simply delete my post..... Very bad apple.....

You should have gotten an email explaining that you violated the Terms of Use of these forums, that you agreed to when you signed up. Just complaining about something is not what these forums are for.
These are user-to-user forums. Apple does not monitor them for content or answer questions.
If you want help with a problem, you have several options:
Take your Mac to an Apple Store or Authorized Reseller or Repair Location.
Call Apple Support. Follow the link at the bottom of this page to find the number in your area.
See http://www.apple.com/support/ for Apple technical articles, manuals, etc.
Ask here for help. Explain your problem as clearly as you can, and another user here may be able to help.

  • How to delete my posts on this forum

    Hi,
Can someone tell me how I can delete my posts and any reply's to them, as people googling the site name can see the posts and my issues. This including a client who is very upset that they can all be seen.
    Thanks, help needed urgently.

Sometimes you can delete your own posts by logging in to these forums and then going to your posts (assuming you remember them all!!) and then looking for something like this:
This icon is at the left corner of your post that you have posted.  Have a look at it and post back.

  • "You do not have permission to post in this forum"

I have another account that cannot do anything much at all, and I would like to get it fixed without a five day wait for a Genius Bar appointment, then a 1 hour bus trip each way with an "I can't help with that" in the middle.
The account has been broken for over a year.  This is what happens:
I can submit a question to the community.
I can open any postings that show as matches.
If there are no matches and I get thrown to the list of communities, then I can't view or post to any of them.  I see the product names and icons (iPad, for example, but the list of related communities on the right is missing for all products.  Which seems unfair because I own most of them.
You do not have permission to post to this forum
It appears you are not allowed to view what you requested.  You might contact your administrator yadda yadda.
I have posted about this before:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/17393255#17393255
with no real answer (a threat of possible help, if you like, but with no resultant benefit.)
My question is - how does one get help with the help forums?  I have phoned Apple's help desk and they said they could not do anything.
I would really like to get my primary account working - it connects to the right email address, it all set up and comfortable - and it does not use my name and location as an alias (who's idea was that?  Fire that person!)
If you know of any court of appeal, help desk support forum support line, 21-step program or anything else that might help, please tell me.  This has gone on long enough.
I tried to do something about this from the other account but to get support for the support communities you have to be able to post to them.
    "That's some catch, that Catch-22"
    "It's the best there is."
Thanks in advance for your help.

Seventy-one -  To my knowledge, I have been a model citizen.  And not impertinent of you at all - a very reasonable question.  All words have been 1-3 or 5+ letters long, I certainly have not received any communication (that I have been able to find) that indicates a transgression.  And there is another question - which castle, and are you saving for the deposit?
Bleach  - other user name is "Ploughguy".  But I was more after a means of contacting those with influence myself.  Most fora like this have a contactable moderator or administrator.  I am rather amazed that one needs the intercession of the saints.  Such as St Roger...
Roger - This situation.  The "can't look-can't post" situation.  It has been (not) happening for some time.
I previously raised the issue here .
BTW, I created yet another ID because I was not careful enough when I set up the second ID and it defaulted to "NameFromSuburb".  This is OK for johnfromnewyork but a huge privacy risk if you are ranulffromlittlestorpingintheswuff - an unusual name in a small place.  I do not know how that default got through the peer review. Basically it says "ranulf has the good taste to own an Apple something which is portable and fenceable, and he lives not far from here".  I have suggested to the privacy people that it is a very bad idea.  And yes, I realise my alias is already out there.  I have asked the privacy people to blow it away.

  • How to attach files to the thread we post in this forum?

How to attach files to the thread we post in this forum?
I’m wondering why there is no feature that allows attaching files from our hard drives! It is not practical to upload our file first in a certain web to provide it as a link in the post.
Is there a way to attach our files directly from our hard drive to the post?
Please, have a look on the screenshot below that shows a forum which includes all the very basic features!
    Thank you for the help
    Best
    Jamal

    Pierre,
Just a guess on my part, but I would suspect non-image files in this case.
As Ted points out, that WAS possible early on, and then the capbility to attach non-image files, was actually retained by a certain few forums, though not for long. This change was coincidental with a major spam attack, and at least one disgruntled user attempting to attach some rather nasty "stuff." I do ot know if those events prompted the change, as I was not part of the decision making group, that initiated the change.
Though 95% of the files that I wish to attach, ARE image files, there are times, where a TXT file would be ideal, say for a crash log, or similar. Now, I can convert that TXT to a PNG, but then one has to work with pixel x pixel dimensions, and some files, like those crash logs, can be rather long.
Personally, I find the loss of the Attach File (was via a button at the bottom-left of the editing screen) to be a sad comment on the actions of some, on these forums, but then that just reflects life outside of the forums.

PS - I am glad that you found that little article useful Especially in the PS, PrPro, PrE and Encore forums, screen-caps can tell so very much about what is going on with a person's program, system or their Projects/Images.

  • Please help me to delete a duplicate post on this forum?

    Hi everyone,
I have two discussions on this site, quite similar, and the reason why is I forgot to write some stuff. So, I now have this 'duplicate' old post with incorrect and misleading info...the post I want deleted is here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/23607239#23607239
I found out the only way to delete a post is to report it, but I cannot report my own post. And I'm Level 1 anyways, only Level 2 and up can report posts. So I'm calling all Level 2+, to help me delete this post. Simply click on the link and report as a duplicate post. Thanks in advance.

mende1 -- what? Did you do the link I gave, as that is the incorrect and old info one!https://discussions.apple.com/message/23607239#23607239
    Kind regards

  • This is my first post. I would like to thank you all for all of the information you have posted on this forum. It has been most helpful to a Newbee. I have a MBP17 w/trackpad and click bar from '08. I need a bigger HD, how big can I go? THX

This is my first post, but I have been following this forum for a while and you have all been very helpful in my MacEducation. I have a MBP17 10.6.8 w/6GB ram from '08. I need to upgrade my HD from 200GB. I would like to go as big as I can and would appreciate any experiance you've had. Could I go 750GB or 500 GB @ 7200 rpm.  Should I upgrade to Lion before I swap the drive out?  Thanks, Johnny

    Hi Johnny,
Yes you can do the 750 or 500, 5400 or 7200. Just make sure it is 2.5" SATA and 12.5mm high or less (there is at least one HD out there that is 15mm high and will not work).
Lion: I don't know that it matters much either way, just don't do them at the same time. That way, if there are issues, you have a much better chance of troubleshooting one major change instead of two.

  • Did Verizon Pull my Post Off This Forum??

I posted a rather chaotic scenario on this forum about my alarm system going off in the middle of the night caused by Verizon dropping dial tone to work on fiberoptic lines (confirmed by a Verizon supervisor). If Verizon monitors this forum can someone tell me why my post was pulled off? Is this standard practice by Verizon when there might be a post critical of Verizon service??

  • Apple support disscussions - where has this forum gone?

Developers - (if you are still there)
does anybody know where the apple support discussions is now held.  I found this forum really useful for learning about iPhone programming.
Im not sure about this new setup.
    james

I followed the instructions you directed me to, and after moving those two fles to the desktop, i go to system pref>network>assis me>assistant.
Going through that, i create a new location, than select 'I use airport to connect to the internet wirelessly'. I select the network that is ours, adn click connect. It runs for a bit, than the error message pops up saying "UNABLE TO ESTABLISH A NETWORK CONNECTION. Your computer could not connect to the internet. Click OK to go back and change your network settings and try again."
I push OK, go back try again, it does nothing. I quit, go under aurport settings, and instead of having it as automatic, i select preferred networks, and select mine as the only network under that.
I restart the computer, same problem happens. Open a web browser, says i am not connected, open my system prefs, and it reads: "AirPort is connected to the network xxxx. Aurport has a self-assigned IP Address and may not be able to connect to the internet."
I have full range on my router, the aurport is connected to the network, i just dont get an IP.
I go and renew the DHCP Lease, and it does nothing. Beside the IP Address, it reads a set of numbers which indicate its self assigned: "169.254.xxx.xxx"
To make things more confusing now, once i reset my system preferences, my roomate, who is running a mac, and couldnt connect to the internet at the same time i couldnt, could now connect. What is the next step for me to do?
Its not the router, because i have tried multiple routers. Its not the computer, because i did have a connection to this network prior to about 5 days ago, and i can still connect to the internet wirelessly at different locations. I reinstalled my os, updated it, nothing. I reset my system preferences and again nothing.
This is becoming a major problem, as i need this connection to do school work.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

  • How to format posts in this forum.

<p>As you may have noticed posts in this form lose all formatting when you post even when you use formatting tags. Unfortunatley this well known yet mysteriously unresolved issue is true for almost all of the recently added forums, which seems a pity because several, like this one seem to be in concept a good idea.</p>
<p>Of course no formatting is a pain because it creates unreadable posts.</p>
<p>But wait there's a paragraph break! And here's another one! How did I do this?</p>
<p>Thankfully the same bug that means that normal formatting tags are not enabled for this forum also means that HTML tags <b>ARE</b> enabled for this forum.</p>
<p>Feedback has been reported on this issue since early June to no avail and I don't expect any change any time soon so I thought I'd let those interested in participating in this forum how they can actually post posts that can be read.</p>
<p>Finally here's a quickie HTML primer to help those who need it.
    <br><center><table border="1" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="0">
    <tr><td><b>Tag</b></td><td><b>Description</b></td><td><b>Example</b></td></tr>
    <tr><td><p></td><td>Paragraph Tag</td><td><p>Paragraph one<p>paragraph two</td></tr>
    <tr><td><br></td><td>Line Break</td><td>Line one<br> line two</td></tr>
    <tr><td><b></td><td>Bold</td><td><b>Bold text</b></td></tr>
    <tr><td><pre></td><td>Preformatted Tag</td><td><pre>
    public class Sample{
    private int x = 3;
</pre><br><small>Note that while this loses syntax highlighting it will keep code formatting intact</small></td></tr>
    </table></center>
<p>And just to note for the pre and bold tags you will need closing tags at the end of the text you want to format in this manner. Otherwise it will not stop which will also be unplesant. Ending tags look like </b> and </pre></p>
<p>Hope some may find this helpful</p>

<p>Known forums with this issue include<ul>
    <li>This one http://forum.java.sun.com/forum.jspa?forumID=546&start=0</li>

    </ul></p>
<p>There may be others but certainly these newish ones are all broken and need to be fixed. This bug is annoying from a user perspective but also they can be dangerous as well if exploited</p>
<p>I know I have personally reported feedback about this problem since at least the middle of June to no effect yet</p>

  • Why is it Adobe has over 6000 posts in this forum that they are completey ignoring.

Why is it that Adobe has over 6000 posts on this web site and obviously Adobe(who has taken my computer hostage}, has done nothing to rectify this situation. They have placed a botched up piece of software out for distribution and have done absolutely nothing for the consumer who unknowingly tried to use it. I for one would like to see some sort of response from Adobe. Are they working on this? Are they going to send us something so the can get 9.3 uninstalled? What?... And by the way, I think you have some program developers that should be looking for another field of work... just a thought..... this was neither developed properly nor was it tested thoroughly. It should never have been sent out for use. And now no doubt there are hundreds of thousands of consumers sitting at home not knowing what to do. Many probably going out and buying new computers becasue they don't realize it is a program issue. Shame, shame, Adboe.... Now you are right up there with WOW

    Ok.
    A. This is not an avenue to contact Adobe. It's a user to user forum. Just people helping other people.
    B. Many post get ignored for many reasons (mostly due to lack of information from the original poster). I'm pretty sure there aren't 6000 post from people with the exact same issue as you.
    C. The odds of hundreds of thousands of people having a certain issue is a little blown out of proportion don't ya think? I mean, out of 6 sytems, I'm having problems with zero of them. I'm sure there are others like me.
So, maybe we can all calm down here, explain the problem you are having (be sure to include all details even if you think it doesn't matter) and maybe one of us "users" can give you a hand?

  • First I tried to download Firefox 4 and was refused permission. Then I posted to this forum and received a confirmation link by e-mail, but the link failed.

I downloaded Firefox 4, but when I tried to move it into the Applications folder, I was refused permission. I tried to post this problem to this forum and received a confirmation link by e-mail, but it failed: I got the message "Something is wrong."

If you get an error message that you do not have sufficient permissions to update then easiest is to trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
    * Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
    * Install the new version that you have downloaded
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder], so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data.

  • How to view more posts in this forum?

Ok, without using the RSS feed option and the search, is there any way to view this forums history, for example, page 2, 3, 4, ect ...
    Thanks.

Looks like you're still on the "Overview" tab ... near the top of the page, just under the logo bar, is a menu bar with "Overview ... Content ...."
Click on the Content tab, you'll see a view that's slightly different and has numbers & arrows top & bottom right corners for more pages.

  • Missing post in this forum

I'm missing a post. Anybody know why it disappeared? Oh well, the post served its purpose...outdoors my friend, deep breath LOL, hilarious! Absolutely made my day!

    Hi Apple Forever,
I know I responded to at least one of your posts. I think it was about the iPad as a laptop replacement. There are several things the forum authorities will not allow. It's all in the terms of use agreement you signed by agreeing to register in these forums. If one of your threads was removed it is because you, and I hate to use the term because it sounds so Orwellian, violated one of those agreements. Most are rather inocuous so it doesn't mean that you did something awful. It just means Apple, in sponsoring these forums, restricts them. It doesn't mean that they censor or delete things contrary to their corporate image either, because the forums are very free. I've been in them long enough to know that. It just means that certain very specific things are not allowed. It's all in the TOU. Your thread must have done something that the forums do not allow. All it means is that your thread was removed. Happens to all of us at one time or another. Doesn't mean that Apple doesn't like us or that we can't still play here. So don't go away and certainly don't go away mad. I, for one, enjoyed your input.

  • I only can post in this forum "feedback and Discussions"

    Hi:
I cant post new topics in other forums. I only can do replies but no new posts.. Could you help me
    Thanks
    JP

    Hi JP!
If you have a question, or suggestion, about using Discussions, from this page Feedback about Discussions, click on Post New Topic, as you have done here.
If you have a Technical question about Apple Hardware, Programs, Services, Technology, Software, Applications, Products, etc, from this page Discussions - Forum Home, select an appropriate Category from one of the sixteen divisions.
For example, under Mac OS X Related Software, choose the Category Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger.
On the page that opens, select a Forum, such as Installation & Setup, or Using Mac OS X Tiger.
Most Category pages, have numerous Forums within them.
But some may have only one, two, or three.
For example the Safari Category page has four choices listed under Forum / Category, but only two of them, are Forums:
Safari 3 Public Beta for Windows
    Safari for Mac Support forum.
And the Apple Remote Desktop Category, has only one Apple Remote Desktop Forum.
On Forum pages, there is an option to Post New Topic.
Click here for all iPod Forums.
Click here for all iTunes Forums.
More info here How Is Discussions Content Organized.
It can be confusing, but explore the different areas, and you will acquire a better understanding of the hierarchy.
