Apple EarPods Speaker Messed Up

So I bought my Apple EarPods almost two months ago, and the left speaker that goes into the ear canal has stopped working. Will Apple replace them? Or what?

Hey, I realize is post is pretty old, but for future quarries regarding the EarPods, I have found a solution.  After turning in my EarPods for very low volume in the left ear, I found the same problem with my new pair.  The difference was with the right ear instead of the left.  For whatever reason I found that when I placed the EarPods in opposite ears, (which you will have to turn them around) they fit more comfortably, and sound better.  The main issue with this is that the stereo in entirely inverted.  So in other words, when your watching Game of Thrones on HBO GO, when the door slams in the left ear, the door is actually slamming on the right.   I contacted Apple support and they informed me this was unintentional.  I also notice that the background noise cancellation is increased with this switch.  Also, if an administrator is viewing this post, it appears to be that the main component breaks frequently, especially considering that the EarPods were purchased from Apple Retail, thus preventing potential 3rd party defection.

  • Apple earpods microphone not working

I have the apple earpods and the microphone does not work with my iphone 4 running ios 6. Everything works except the mic, when I plug them in the mic on the physical phone is never disabled and I have to use the phone mic if I want to speak. I want to use the mic on the headphones control, how do I fix this? (I do not want to upgrade my ios)

think it more likely that it's an issue with the connector in the iphone
a connector connect a piece of metal inside with the middle ring on the minijack if they don't touch it don't work

  • How do I use an airport express with the Apple A1121 speaker?

I have the old Apple A1121 speaker, and have only just stumbled upon the fact I could play music from my MacBookPro or other apple device through the AirPort Express wirelessly. But I don't understand how to do it? Any help would be much appreciated.

No, actually a really good question. The adapter is basically a 3.5 mm audio plug on one end and a digital optical jack on the other. It is designed to be used with a digital optical cable. Some cable providers have these in one unit. That is, the adapter is permanently attached to one end of the cable.
The following link is just one example of these types of cables/adapters.

  • My 4th gen iPod touch won't recognize the remote feature on earbuds other than Apple earpods - anyone else had this issue?

Apple earpods don't fit my ears well, so I bought a pair of Sony earbuds a few months ago. When they came, I noted that I could turn volume up and down, but the remote portion didn't work - couldn't pause or skip music. They weren't the highest quality so I assumed it was a fluke.
I just got a new pair of earbuds and same issue! The volume works but the remote does nothing. I tried to use my boyfriend's Apple earpods with my touch and the remote works fine. Also, the new earbuds I got work, remote and all, on his 4th gen Nano.
I can't seem to find anything online about why these earbuds that are supposed to be compatible wouldn't be working. I've cleaned out the audio jack so it's not a lint issue, plus it really does work just fine with Apple earpods, only alternatives don't work. And again, I can hear fine and the volume can be controlled but the remote to pause and play and skip isn't recognized at all.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

So just in case anyone else ever runs into this...
I solved the issue and it was that between the plug of the new earbuds being slightly thicker than the Apple earpods, and the width of the case that I was using for my iPod, there wasn't a connection being made to activate the remote function.
I took off the case and now the earbuds work exactly as they should!

  • Apple Earpods as mic on Mac Mini mid-2011

I've connected my Apple Earpods to the audio line-in socket on my mid-2011 Mac Mini but nothing shows up under the input tab in the sound settings. I tried using the built-in option but when I try to talk it doesn't pick up my voice. Does it just not work with Mac minis from 2011 or is there a way to do this that I don't know about?

Wrong jack. The line-in requires a amplified input. See:

  • Mac Mini (late 2012), Windows 8, and Apple EarPods.

    Hello there.
Recently, I have been trying to get my Apple EarPods with Remote and Mic to work with my bootcamp installation of windows 8.
when I plug the earpods into the audio out jack while using OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2) I can use them without trouble.
when I do the same thing in my Bootcamp installation of Windows 8, I can hear the audio just fine, but I can't use the remote portion of the Earpods, nor can I use the mic in the Earpods remote.
I would like to know if any drivers are necessary to use these earphones, or if they simple will not work with Windows 8 at all.
Many thanks in advance, and I hope to hear from you soon.

I don't think the mic and remote work with bootcamp.  You should submit feedback here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html

  • If Apple EarPods just randomly decided to break into 2 pieces and get stuck in the headphone jack, will Apple replace or repair the iPad for free?

After I was done listening to some music, I of course puller out the EarPods from the headphone jack. But then I noticed how the tip broke into 2, so half of the tip is stuck in the headphone jack. Since they were Apple EarPods, and I didn't inflict any damage to them, would I receive a free repair or replacement on my iPad?

Are you still under warranty? You're going to have a tough time convincing them it wasn't your fault they broke, I predict. In any case, someone else had a good idea on one of these types of threads: take it to an electronics shop as they probably deal with this situation quite frequently.

The procedure is Settings>Messages>Send & Receive at>You can be reached by iMessages at>Add another email address. The email address has to be a valid working email address, obviously. Apple should verify the email address and you have to go to the inbox of that email account, read the verification email from Apple and follow the inductions in the email in order to complete the verification. Then you go back to the settings, uncheck your email address and check the new email address to be used as the contact email address.

  • Apple Earpod volume down control not working

The play/pause button works great as well as the volume up, however the control doesn't respond when I press the volume down. The earpod has not been exposed to any water or the sort. Why is this happening?

  • Apple Earpods - Not Working. Help?

I have apple earpods and recently one of the sides stop working. You can hardly hear on the side that isn't working.
Would Apple trade my earpods for new ones?
    - I still have my 1 year warrenty and it doesn't expire until December 25, 2013.

If you have ruined two sets, I suspect it is the way you are treating them. From what you describe it sounds like undue strain is being put on the jack, like maybe you are unplugging them by pulling the wire instead of grasping the jack. Or maybe the phone is allowed to dangle from the cord.
At any rate, if they replace them, and only Apple will be the judge on this, you should pay attention to any possible undue strain you are putting one the cord.
