Apple Product Replacement & broken screens

Before I box up my Ipod and pay for a courier to the repair center I would like to know if the "Apple Product Replacement Request" will repair a shattered screen? I have an estimate of $125, but when filling out the request there was no option under "display" for broken screens just malfunctioning ones. Am I better off taking it to an Apple Store (2hrs away)? Any advice?

Actually Apple will replace your iPod with a refurbished one. Apple charges a flat-rate depending upon iPod model and capacity.  That is why a broken screen is not specifically stated.  For further info see:

Accidental damage is not covered by warranty.  You'll have to pay for out-of-warranty replacement.

  • Hello. Trying to replace broken screen on daughter's laptop. Laptop is an HP DV6T-7000 Quad

Hello. Trying to replace broken screen on daughter's laptop. Laptop is an HP DV6T-7000 Quad (bought in July, has the 3rd gen I-7 proc. and 610 graphics card). OEM screen is an LG LP156WH3(TL)(AC) according to the sticker on the back, which is a 1366 x 768 glossy. Would like to upgrade to the optional 1900 x 1080 full hd matte, which internet research leads me to think is model # LP156WF4(SL)(B3). Can anyone verify the part # and if it is just a screen swap-no new cables required? Thanks! Sid

If your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad is Broken
Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.

  • How much apple charge for broken screen iPhone 5

How much charge iPhone 5 broken screen replace

Apple reportedly now will replace the screen in an iPhone 5 for US $149. Availabllity of repair services may vary by country, and I'm not sure if other models of iPhone also can be repaired, so call Apple Support or visit an Apple Store and ask for information. For other problems Apple at this time does not at this time repair iPhones, but will replace the entire iPhone for a flat fee. If you have AppleCare+ coverage, the cost will low; in the US it's $49. If you do not have AppleCare+ on your iPhone, see the Service Pricing section here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/service/faq/
There are independent iPhone repair services that may be able to do the repair for less than Apple's out-of-warranty charge. Do a web search for "iPhone repair". Note, though, that if you elect to have the iPhone serviced by an unauthorized shop, all further warranty and support from Apple will be voided.
    Regards.
Forum Tip: Since you're new here, you've probably not discovered the Search feature available on every Communities page, but next time, it might save you time (and everyone else from having to answer the same question multiple times) if you search a couple of ways for a topic, both in the relevant forums and in the Apple Knowledge Base, before you post a question.

  • Is apple still replacing cracked screens?

I have an Ipod nano I got about a month ago. I've taken pretty good care of it, and keep it in a leather case with a hard front/back and belt clip pretty much all the time (except when it's docked w/ the pc).
Tonight I took it off my belt to plug it in, and the screen is cracked. There is no physical damages to the outside, but the lcd is obviously damaged, with the liquid puddling near the crack.
I looked for information and found that apple was reportedly replacing screens/ipods with this issue as recently as February of this year, but am not finding anything more recent saying they are or aren't.
I got my ipod delivered 8/18/06, but when I look it up on apple's warranty site it says it was purchased in 11/05. (I got it as a prize from a company, so it likely sat in their warehouse for a time.
I'll call apple in the morning to speak with them, but does anyone have recent experience on trying to get service for a nano with a cracked screen and no external damage?

Well, it seems it's not just the call center that's confused.
I sent my iPod in, since the verdict seemed uncertain. The day they received it, the status on the website updated to say they had found accidental damage or abuse and service was declined. Below that it said they shipped the original back to me on 10/7/06.
Several days later, I got an email from apple, saying that my replacement process had been completed, and the replacement ipod had been shipped to me. This email included a tracking number, where the website status did not. Tracking the package, it's shipping from China, so I'm assuming they actually did replace my nano. (I shipped the original to CA for service, so I doubt they shipped it back to me by way of china)
I'll post again to be certain, but it seems they are still replacing ipod nano's with broken screens.

  • Will Apple still replace the screen on my iPod Touch 4th gen.?

I dropped my iPod and completely cracked the whole front of my iPod. I got it a Target a month ago and I lost my receipt. Will Apple still replace it?

@lllaass I just cracked the screen on my Ipod touch 8gb 4th gen which i just bought wednesday from Target. However, I have one of those military grade portective films over it. Was that supposed to protect it? Not sure, but I also have another issue. I live an hour away from the nearest apple store and I don't want to make an appointment at the Genius bar and still have to pay. Should I just take my chances and schedule one? Or are there other places that might be able to replace it for cheaper?

Certain damage is ineligible for out-of-warranty service, including catastrophic damage, such as the device separating into multiple pieces, and inoperability caused by unauthorized modifications. However, an iPad that has failed due to contact with liquid may be eligible for out-of-warranty service.Apple reserves the right to determine whether or not your iPad is eligible for Out-of-Warranty service. Replacement iPads have a 90-day limited hardware warranty or assume the remainder of your standard warranty or AppleCare service contract coverage, whichever is longer. • Satellite Z830 - how to replace broken Screen?

A careless family member has succeeded in cracking the screen of a fairly new Toshiba z830. It's broken quite badly, so I doubt it will be reparable.
I was wondering if anyone could offer any advice on the best way to go about getting a replacement, bonus points for any information in the Melbourne area.
    Thank you

I'd rather not pay the $459 or 459 or whatever to get the screen fixed by Toshiba. I've had 20 laptops before, I never cracked a screen like this so easily. I didn't drop the laptop nor bump it nor squeeze it, I just transported it in my hand baggage on the airplane as I always do with many previous laptops, the Z830 screen is too fragile. I really like the screen, I like its matte finish, I like the thin and light magnesium form factor of the laptop, and swobbly screen does not bother me, except the design is just much too fragile, the glass surface of the LCD is not protected as it must be. I'm the one who video-blogged this interview with a Toshiba representative about that nice design afterall: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_Cq07Ee89o
Since I don't want to pay the $500 repair fee, and since I guess Toshiba never replaces a cracked screen under warranty? I need to know if it'll work if I buy this screen: http://www.laptopscreen.com/English/model/toshiba/PORTEGE~Z830-S8302/ and I need to know exactly what screw driver I need and if there is a YouTube video and/or tutorial with detailed images and explanations so that I can hopefully safely make the screen replacement myself. And thus so that I can do it for about $100 myself instead of paying Toshiba $500 to make it.
I guess it'd be best if Toshiba actually sold that screen and the necessary screw driver to DIY change a broken screen (loose warranty is ok then), does Toshiba sell the screen replacement and screw driver for Z830/Z835?
I also tried http://screensurgeons.com/ and http://youtube.com/ScreenSurgeons/ but they don't seem to have made a video showing how to replace the Z830/Z835 screen yet.
If you look at the comments on this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMH0r76zdt0 about the Z830/Z835 teardown (only to replace RAM or SSD), there are several comments from users who also cracked their Z830/Z835 screen but I can't seem to find on YouTube a video showing how to replace the screen yet.
Thanks for your help. I'd like to buy that screen replacement soon, I need this laptop screen fixed before I go on a travel on October 11th.

  • Ipad 2: replace broken screen

Will Apple replace the broken glass for my Ipad2 which have just bought in 1 month?
And any Apple stores in Vietnam can do it?
    Thank you so much!

Hey, you didn't read my reply correctly. Like I said in my reply, i know it is not Appe' responsibility to replace units damaged by the user. What iwas saying was they used to do that when Jobs were around. With all the Apple equipmet i have, i never had to go to Apple store for replacement. This was my first and only time I did.
I don't blame Apple for not doing it any more. I just miss the times they used to to do it. I have many friends, whom i converted frOom PC to Apple, who got the free repalacement. I am not trying to brg, but it really isn't the money issue. I could have easily taken up on their offer to replace my iPad 2 at half the price. I was disappointed that the first time I tried to use the courtey replacement the first time, i was denied. I could have easily taken up on their 50% off offer. Again, its not a money issue.
I was just making a comment that this new policy came into place so soon after his passing. I couldn't care less about the $419 cost. Why did this change come within weeks of his passing? I wans't even interested ingetting replacement until so many of my friends told me about the one time courtesy replacement. I didn't think it was their responsibility in the first place. But when my friends told me that they know so many people who just got a new replacement, i thought I'd give it a shot. Again, the main motivation was not the cost, but testing if it was really true. Apple posted 40%+ return on equity. So I am sure they are not hurting. I also own shares of Apple for at least 5 years. Please understand its not a money issue. I was just surprised that the policy changed so soon after Jonbs passed away.
Please don't get me wrong.  I was shocked that Apple's been doing the courtesy replacement all this time, which I didnt know. Nor got any benefit from it. I am just sad that it changed so suddenly as soon as Jobs was gone.
I am just worried that Apple might have started heading in the wrong direction. And if they did, i would be a very sad camper
