Apple surveys

I had someone from apple give me a call telling me that I bought a macbook a couple months ago (which I did). they then proceeded to ask me questions about it - satisfaction etc. Is this common for apple? I have bought apple products before (well actually just an ipod), and never been called for customer surveys

Actually that is a new thing that apple has just started doing. The customer satisfaction surveys are done for both a newly purchased product as well as after you contact technical support. The surveys are completely random and will not happen everytime you buy a product or phone tech support. Luckily the ones that her sent out for tech support feedback are usually donw through email, so if you really don't want to do then you don't have to. It's just a way for the tech support agents to get feedback on weather or not they are doing a good job, as well it lets the agents supervisors know if the agents are doing their job

    It is a scam. Forward a copy of the email to both your internet service provider and your email service provider and explain that it is likely a phishing scam. DO not visit the site of the survey or any other link in the email. Delete the email.

    Therefore I think you can be extremely confident that it is legit request and url. Just always always make sure that the link you are going to click on is what it looks like. In mac mail right click on the link and select "Copy Link", then paste it into text edit to check what it actually is. Do not visit the url if it is not what it appears to be in the email. If uncertain use a ping tool like network-tools.com (which is where I got the info above from).

  • This is about that Apple survey.

    Basically, I just want to know real quick if it's a legitimate survey or not. SS numbers and credit card information is very private and shouldn't be given out the Internet, right? That's identity theft, so is it a scam? I don't feel comfortable handing that information over, but I still want the credit.
    Probably not the best discussion for this question, but Apple doesn't have an email address I could find to ask them, and I figure this is the next best thing.

    SCAM.
    There is no reason why Apple should ask these questions ... particularly if the s/s you refer to is short for social security.
    Delete the mail or the survey page.   Have nothing to do with it.   Watch carefully to make sure you haven't  activated anything so far. 

  • Can not get outgoing messages to work despite 3 hrs Apple technician!!!!!!!

    I have now worked another 4 hours on this issue.And had help from India as well.
    After 3 hours with India technician the issue could still not be solved.I now know that the below settings are correct.I have a case number and tonight spend another 4 hours but no outgoing messages!!!! Except sometimes using one account only but I have 10!!
    Maybe I have to give up and accept that the mail is never going to work.I now use a windows computer for my mail. UUE unbelievable unacceptable error from Apple
    Result all my accounts read the messages.
    The accounts are yahoo/xtra New Zealand
    The G mail has an own outgoing server and in connection doctor the light is shown green.
    If I can send I do not know yet.
    Now for all yahoo xtra accounts I use the same server.
    The providers instruction for a NEW account I established is:
    -Incoming Mail (POP3) Server pop3.xtra.co.nz
    Use SSL,port 995
    -Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server: send.xtra.co.nz
    Enable SSL,port: 465 and enable SMTP server authentication
    Print this page for your record.
    My conclusion is despite upgrading to Snow Leopard 6.1 where was promised that mail issues had been solved the result is zero and I am sure it is not the providers fault.
    I will give here again the link in Google and hope somebody will know what is at hand here.

    I received a complaint that my last post was not so clear and I have updated this post here.
    I have now configured Thunderbird and after help with setting up by my provider Yahoo/ Xtra. Thank you for your telephone help of 3 hours from Philippines today Yahoo/ Xtra. It all works fine now with Thunderbird.
    I now receive and can send E-mails from and for all 10 sub accounts.Today I received an Apple survey message to valuate my experiences.The case number that was given and is not solved at all is
    136901000 The very good Apple technicians name is SHIVARAM.It is not his fault that the issue could not be solved.A shame the Apple survey indicated there would not be any follow up of the issue.!!! I just had to phone again!!!
    It shows the arrogance that has entered the Apple organization.
    Imagine how many people are loosing time with this issue in my case about 2 days!!! Just after installation of a product they call Snow Leopard I payed 59 $ for !!! It should actually have been called Slow Leopard ! only one letter different.!!! Just as my computer only one program failing!!!

    So New Zealand needs to talk to India-Phillipines-to get his 59$ purchased program working.!

  • Can not get home share to work even after a session with Apple genius in store..!!!!

    I'm using ipad2, iPhone 4s and iTunes is running on my HP laptop. All three have home share turn on and are signed in as they should. The iPad and iPhone show my iTunes account but there is nothing behind it. I spent ten minutes with the Apple genius in store and he checked all the settings were correct, which they were. My two apple devices are finding the account ok as the library name appears in the shared file.
    I have followed a link the genius sent me to fully uninstall iTunes and then re-install the latest version from scratch. This has made no change at all apart from taking me three hours to back up my account incase it was whipped.
    I'm out of ideas, can anyone suggest we're I'm going wrong..???

  • 31 percent failure rate for G5s with 20-inch screens

    The September issue of Popular Mechanics says Apple surveyed iMac G5 owners on the heat problem and found an 18 percent failure rate among the original iMac G5s with 17-inch screens and a 31 percent failure rate for G5s with 20-inch screens.
    Not even one year old, soon I expect these numbers will rise higher since so many people have the white band on the bottom of the screen and have not reported it yet. Hundreds of post in the display section on it....

  • I need help,  I recently won an iphone 5 in a survey !  I have never had an apple product before.  I have had to drive to Newcastle on two occaisions to attend workshops, they were only just helpful !  most people had ipads , i was only one with iphone,

    I need some help. I recently won an iphone 5 in a customer survey. Could not believe my luck . That was mid March 2013.  I have never used any apple products before.  Today I want to get out my old Nokia E5 and go from there.  I have attended two workshops at an apple retail store at Charlestown Square, they were not very helpful, everyone at the workshop had ipads, i was the only one with an iphone. I know that to navigate around on them is simular, but after going to two workshops, which i had to drive over an hour there and back, just to get some help in how to use a mobile phone is ridiculous to me!  I noticed some problem with , I could hear people i was talking too, they could not hear me, just prior to attending my second workshop,  after much debate I was told that the phone had a manufacturing fault and that I was going to be issued with a new phone.  That was 2nd April, since then i have virtually no reception, can't send txt messages, cannot connect to my wi-fi device,  problems with battery.   The battery , once fully charged does not last 24 HRS,  this morning for example - was 100% charged, made a 2 min local phone call  , at completion of call , battery displayed 80%.   By lunch time it was displaying 56%,  i had not used the phone at all ! i don't understand it!  I have been with the same phone provider for 2yrs now and have never experienced the problems i am having now.  CAN ANYONE HELP ME ?  Yours Sincerely  Tracey.

    Tracy, first you should restart the iPhone by holding down the on/off and the home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo.  This process could solve some of your problems.  Also make sure you have the latest update, go into  our settings>general>software update.  On the wifi issue try restarting your router, if you are still having problems try resetting your network settings, go into your settings>general>reset then tap reset network settings. 
    The battery issues seems normal, the battery will not last 24 hours.

    Here's what I told to Apple today. My issue is about fsck command.
    There's no need to read all,
    and any part of text judged inappropriate (and I apologize) is removable.

    I have to repeat you that I'd appreciate very much (and I'm not alone) the creation of an AppleCare site who would provide precise answers to precise issues (Apple Advisors don't go on discussions.apple.com), and where you could also join screen captures to explain your remarks a better way.
    My problem with Apple Assistance is that I (first) have to talk to a first-level advisor (last one was at Bengalore), who always has to redirect me to Ireland (Cork, I believe), so I can talk to high-level Advisors like Jonathan, Thomas, Stephan etc.
    And how much does it cost, instead sending you an e-mail ?
    I received my new MacBook Pro 17" last Wednesday, and surely will buy a Protection Plan for this new machine (I gave my 15" to my wife). I'll also increase my MobileMe storing space, but I will do this so that people (with a given password) can access my Public Folder, and download from it 10 GB (maximum) that I can't send them by e-mail. BUT I don't know actually HOW MUCH I'm able to upload.
    One remark : As usual, and that's not fair, my warranty starts at the DOP (Date of Purchase), and NOT at delivery date, so I loose there obviously the warranty days between purchase and delivery.
    Another remark : When receiving the product, I first thought you had forgotten the DVDs. In fact, they where in (poor and cheap) plastic sleeves, hided inside one of the two little white books.
    The 13" MacBook Pro is delivered with DVDs in fair, strong, white quadrichromic color printed separate sleeves. How do you explain that ?
    Third remark : Why is there no "anti-reflet" treatment customizable for the 13" ?
    Fourth remark : Why are customizable additional memory (8 GB) and correct (7200 rpm) internal hard drive so expensive ? Why, doing so, are you loosing so much money ?
    Fifth remark (excuse me, but you say you are interested) : Guess the date of your documentation about BOOTCAMP ? Do you think it's compatible with Apple's leadership (in anything) ?
    Last remark : Why can Windows (I hate Bill) users have access to USB 3.0 since already month(s) ?
    Do you know that I bought a 17" ONLY because you have kept on this product the ExpressCard/34 slot ? I now have a Sonnet card in it, with two eSata ports (but I have 5 eSata drives) … Why don't you have eSATA ports (at least one) on your beautiful laptops ?
    My problem actually (I also have a problem with the 17" Install DVD) is to repair 3 disks with fsck command, as the filesystems are damaged. I phoned Apple Assistance Saturday, for about 30 minutes, but finally the Advisor sent me a link to one of your thousands (and sometimes obsolete) articles, and the solution wasn't there entirely.
    I'll describe you the problem, but you won't, as usual, answer me, like people who receive my detailed crash reports and never tell me anything (even one poor single line).
    One of the external disks (4TB data) I talk about doesn't appear after Startup, but when I use the Install DVD and Disk Utility, the application tells me it's OK, that the disk "SEEMS" to be alright etc. That's false.
    When I reboot with Cmd + S (root level), and tell Terminal (I have been obliged to print the four states of an American Extended keyboard) :
    "sudo fsck -fy /dev/disk4s1"
    Reply :
    "BAD SUPER BLOCK: MAGIC NUMBER WRONG
    LOOK FOR ALTERNATE SUPERBLOCKS? yes
    SEARCH FOR ALTERNATE SUPER-BLOCK FAILED. YOU MUST USE THE
    -b OPTION TO FSCK TO SPECIFY THE LOCATION OF AN ALTERNATE

    So, I use the -b option of fsck command, and :
    "fsck: -b flag requires a number"
    "-b size Specify the size, in bytes, of the physical blocks used by
    the -B option."
    So, I'm searching since 3 days the info command to know what sector address I have to tell -b to install an alternate superblock, because I need to know exactly at which places filesystems and data start and end.
    You understand, I suppose, that I can't use any of my softwares, because the disk is INVISIBLE (doesn't exist). It's not MOUNTED nor UNMOUNTED.
    If you can transmit what I say to someone who has the solution (and is able to send it to me), thank you very much in advance !
    Any sign of life, anyway, would be greatly appreciated …

    Heyyyy, I was taking the Apple Market Research survey to talk about how much I like my new Mac Pro, but I got to this question and couldn't go further.  I tried putting zeroes in front of the number and everything.  I didn't know where to put the issue, but I figured, while I'm telling Apple things in my research survey, I might as well tell them this.

    Maaaan, that goes one step past my lazy-limit to call them up and tell them.  Well, hopefully someone who works at Apple will stumble upon this and care enough to seek out the right people to fix the issue...

    There have been a number of phishing scam emails going around for at least half a year...do not respond, click links, or do anything with that email.  Apple does not operate that way.

  • Feedback from my Apple Store Survey (Additional info field)

    The delivery of my iPhone docks was amazing, I placed the order about 1-2pm Tuesday and it arrived well before noon on wednesday. It was so quick I was stunned.
    Too bad I can't purchase items like this through iTunes.
    Probably not your field, but i'm extremly disapointed with the iPhone3G for many reasons;
    1) iPod function of the iPhone is terrible compared to my old iPod Nano, I use to be able to manually manage my Podcasts and music between my home computer and my work computer, or at least be able to play them from my iPod when connected to iTunes at both ends.
    2) The calendar/appointment aspect of the iPhone is useless, I cannot set the alert sound, I cannot see my upcoming appointments from the screensaver/unlock screen and or would be nice to have a "Today/Frontpage" like app, where this info and other custom choices can be displayed on one screen, rather then opening and closing apps all the time.
    3) Missed Calls, SMS's and Email notifications need to be in that top info bar aswell with the time, carrier and battery info. Because in order to see these notifications you have to be on the home screen. ie, I have my iPhone docked at work, with the Apple Remote app running for iTunes, then walk over to the printer to grab something. Come back to my desk, glance at the iPhone thats sitting in its dock and i'm none the wiser if I had any SMS's, Missed Calls or Email sent to my iPhone, unless I return to the home screen to see the little red number next to the icon.
    There is more but i'll leave it at that for now.
    My happiness with the product itself is 50/50, I use to recommend iPods to everyone I knew, but not the iPhone. I discurrage them at this stage.

  • Review Survey: Apple Store Covent Garden

    The service was rubbish to start with. It was not clear that I had to go to upstairs. I asked the girl downstairs and she did not seem helpful. She was adamant on standing there instead, which seemed to be part of her job description as opposed to helping out customers.
    Upstairs I was ushered by someone somewhat friendlier. A rude and silly brash Spanish woman checked me in for my appointment. She told me to wait on the side. I waited patiently. I had a meeting with a senior government official prior to this, so I was not really happy about having to wait or be late for my meeting.
    She ran over to me and asked me if I had two appointments, and then got annoyed when I said no. I thought she is crazy, because why on earth would I book two appointments? She had appalling English language skills and I don't know how she got the job at Apple.
    After that, a nice young and tall gentleman checked me in again. I believe that this was a tactic to keep me waiting longer and kill time. As despite arriving on time for my appointment. I had to wait in excess of 30 minutes! He tried to seem sympathetic, but it was like he lacked any emotion. He seemed tired and bored just like the rest of the staff bar the one or two exceptions.
    You are becoming worse than the doctors and I had to come to Covent Garden which is full of rancid tourists. I really do not fathom the idea of spending more than half of my ONE day off per week to stand in your bland store. The fact that it is you will never understand that it is extremely frustrating when your phone breaks and to have to wait for an appointment or to see someone just makes it twice as frustrating.
    All in all, I was called over by the wonderful Marcello who fixed my problem extremely quickly. You need more staff like him. He was so friendly, knowledgeable and sympathetic. It did not even seem like he worked for your company, because your other employees looked bored and were lacklustre to say the least! My new phone was set up quickly and efficiently. I could leave the store quickly and be on time for meeting.
    The fact is that your stores are very sterile. When you need to get help to buy something, there are many staff there, but nobody to help. You have lost a lot of my money because of this. Firstly, because the post purchase service was poor and I wasn't given the information that I needed to complete my purchases. I feel that the staff in your stores can quite often be arrogant and cocky. I don't know if this is part of the "American" training. In comparison to the service that I have received at your stores in the past few months it is not good, because when I go to your largest competitor's store (Samsung). People are much better and friendlier.
    I have been the proud owner of all the iPhones since they came out with the first generation. I am someone who you should consider keeping happy for brand loyalty. However, I am sad to say that I am considering switching to Samsung. Overall, there are too many problems with the iPhone. The battery life is dismal to say the least. I really wish you good luck with the launch tonight, because you are going to need it and I really hope that you bring out some huge innovative technology and not just some minor updates.
    I am also disappointed, because my MacBook Pro broke as well. It was reliable, but after 4 years I lost all my photos and I even recommended you to my friends and family. I got my friends and family to purchase numerous items from you, but you are manufacturing on the cheap in China. You need to look into this immediately in order to grow and have long term sustainability.
