Apple tried to help w/iPad crashes, but it's starting all over again.
I have done multiple resets, wipes, virtually everything suggested for the Safari crashes on this forum. No joy. Getting to a genius bar is physically difficult for me, so I finally contacted Apple via email and to their credit, they called me in less than 24 hours. After sharing my own rants with the first person I spoke with about the problems with ios 5, I was transferred to tech support. The tech person walked me through what I had experienced so far, and his first response was that we needed to determine if I was having a hardware or a software problem. He suggested that there might be a problem with the the original upgrade download file, so he walked me through deleting the "ipsw" file from the Library on my MacBook Pro. I did a complete wipe of my iPad 1, created a new iTunes library on my MacBook, re-downloaded the 5.0.1 update file and set up my iPad as a new iPad. I then tried things out with only the native apps installed, and used Safari for a couple of hours and everything seemed fine. I re-downloaded apps directly from the App store - I did not copy any apps from the old iTunes folder, just in case there were corrupted apps. This all happened almost 2 weeks ago and for awhile everything seemed fine. Then the crashes started up again, and have been accelerating in frequency over the past 3 days. This morning I've had two Safari crashes in one hour with nothing running in the task bar and only two tabs open in Safari. Other crashes have occurred when using the App store, email, and other functions, so it's not just Safari that's crashing. The main point that came out of all this is that IT'S NOT MY IPAD THAT'S THE PROBLEM, which tech support agreed with. I hope this info helps someone else at least determine if their iPad is functioning properly. I did finally turn on the Debug console in Safari and found out that Facebook plugins to different websites create many Safari errors. If anyone else has had experience with replacing the "ipsw" file and then doing a clean restore of their iPad, I'd like know how it worked/did not work for you.
I agree completely. I posted my experience in hopes of saving someone else a trip to the genius bar, and also to see if others had tried or been told to try this. I've read a lot of posts about wiping and restoring but no discussion about the original ipsw file download (sorry if I missed it elsewhere). It was clear from my discussions with Customer Service and Tech Support that Apple DOES read these discussions, so that was another factor in my posting. I did call the tech guy and leave him a message as to the latest developments -as per his request - but haven't heard back from him yet. During our original conversation he stated that he hasn't had any crashes on his iPad - good for him, but what does that mean for the rest of us? I pointed out to both reps that I've never seen it take so long to get a serious bug fix out of Apple.....all the stuff others are saying, with no really reassuring response from them that a fix is imminent. I hope each and every person experiencing this calls and calls Apple until something finally happens! The guys I dealt with were very nice, but I still have the same problems!! AND, I'm curious as to why things work o.k. for awhile after the restores, but then the crashes suddenly accelerate - this is my 4th try with the same results.

When reading my downloaded paper the Safari page sometimes comes up and I have to press the Home button and start all over again but same thing happens. I even made sure the paper download was the first thing I did on my Ipad and that no other apps were open.

I am trying to update software on my macbook pro. From the apple menu, I click "check updates", software is then checked and a list presented of software that I require downloading. I then tick the relevant applications. The blue bar with "install and restart" appears, I press this, the computer goes into restart mode, I login and start all over again.

If that doesn't work, then you can try a new firefox [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Profiles profile] just to see if it's (your) Firefox-related or maybe an actual problem with the site (maybe starting Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] can be a quicker check).

I currently have an iPhone 5 that I play games on regularly and I have just bought the iPad 4 and I want to transfer all my game progress from the iPhone to the iPad. I have turned on iCloud on both devices and backed up and while all my games transfer only some of the games maintain progress where others want me to start all over again. I pretty sure I doing something wrong... Can some help or give me idiot proof guidance on how do do this successfully. I'm generally pretty tech savvy but this has me stumped and iCloud is ment to be easy to use.
I would not be able to give you idiot proof guide, since different games are different. Some of them have icloud integrated already, but those already taken care of. Some of them use specific logins and once you log - you get your info. General recommendation is to contact support sites of those games for enabling icloud instructions or enabling of transfer. There are other purely apple ways - like sync your phone in itunes and then sync apps with ipad, but those are only one time transfer. There is another way that is not typically recommended - restoring ipad from iphone backup. It may transfer your game content, but once again sync in the future has to be done by game.
So if I were you, I would address that individually with every game provider. -
I was downloading the trilogy as we speak and out of the sudden the download stops and it says there is an error. I try and resume the download but it starts all over again.

I synced about 50 books to my new ipad air 2. When I click any other books, the sync starts all over again for all books (it shows 51 books syncing). If I abort the sync, all of a sudden, all books are gone from my ipad. I don't know why. I did not have this problem on my old ipad...or before I upgraded to the latest version of iTunes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Perform a hard reboot
Hold down the Home button and Power button on your iPhone or iPad and keep holding them until you see the Apple logo. Once you do, you can let go. When your device boots back up, go ahead and check to see if the apps have started re-downloading. If they still appear to be stuck, continue on. -
How can I get Apple to recognize me? Every time I try to put in my Apple password, it doesn't recognize it. I try answering the security question, will not recognize it. I end up changing the password then try signing in again and it won't recognize it. We start all over again.
Have you changed the email address associated with the Apple ID? I did, and learned the hard way that it caused a lot of problems. I had to delete that ID and create a new one, then it caused problems with iCloud because of my old email address. If that's not the case, you might need to set up a new Apple ID altogether. Sounds like a pain, but it's not too hard, and you only need to create a new email address. You can also set up new security questions for the new ID and it should be recognized when you enter the information in iTunes, the App Store, etc. If that doesn't work, I recommend calling Apple and explaining the situation. after I download Itunes, when trying to sync Ipod, message says "needs newer version of mobile support, uninstall Itunes, and reinstall Itunes, and the same process starts all over again. why is that?

my itunes match keeps starting by itself.. gets to the third and final step (artwork) then starts all over again. it does this all by itself. itunes even opens by itself to do this. help!
how long have you had your ipod? mine did the same but after a while you need to get a new one because of the battery...

You can delete your old backups by going to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, tap the device under Backups, then tap Delete Backup.
But what do you mean by "start all over again like it's a new phone"? Do you mean you want to delete all the data in your iCloud account or delete everything on your phone and restore it as a new iPhone? -
My Ipod Nano took a trip thru the washer and dryer and I assume it is destroyed.
My wife bought me a new one. It shows up on my computer (windows vista), but Itunes doesn't recognize it.
How do I get Itunes to recognize it. I spent a lot of time recording my old cassetes and don't want to start all over again. I just want to get back to where I was.

I am trying to download a song and it gets to about 3.5mb and stops, then starts all over again. It has done this several times. Could the file be corrupt?
Turn off the Firewall in System Preferences > Security (or Securtiy & Privacy) > Firewall
If you have anti virus software installed, you may need to disable that before downloading.
Restart your Mac and try again. -
How do I change an Apple ID payment method to 'None'? I've tried everything and I found the only solution is to apply all over again with another e-mail address. Any other options?
Buy an iTunes Music Card and redeem it to your account - the "none" option should be available then.
