Apple TV 2 Won't update to 6.0

My ATV2 won't update to the 6.0 software.  It is currenly on 5.3.  If I go to manually check for new software in the settings it says the software is up to date.  I've tried resetting, unplugging, and finally restoring to factory defaults (which apparently is also supposed to download the newest software).  I also have an ATV3 in the other room and it updated from 5.3 to 6.0 just fine.  Any ideas?

I have one remaining Apple TV that I have yet to update. As a result of a large number of threads appearing in a short period of time reporting that the update is no longer available, I tried to update my own and was told it was up to date.
It’s therefore quite possible the update has been temporarily removed and the best advice I can provide is to sit tight and wait.

My Apple TV is telling me the "software is up to date". But it's not?! It's still on 4.1 and I want 4.2.1. Why won't it update?

Yup all on same network, home sharing etc. Computer syncing wellbwith apple tv, iPhone remote app working with computer but No airplay icon to be seen ... anywhere?! Ah well. I suppose I can live without it!
again you mention the remote app, but the remote app has nothing to do with AirPlay.
as i said, you are looking for the airplay icon in the correct places? (ie NOT in the remote app).

  • Apps say they belong to another Apple ID and won't update

I recently bought a 2nd hand MBP. I made a new user, deleted the old user and used migration assistant to move my stuff from my old MBP. However, despite my having owned pre App Store versions of iWork apps the Mac App store continually tells me there are updates available for Keynote, Numbers and Pages. However, when I try to update them I am informed that they belong to the last owner of my MBP.
I own the apps, I moved them across from my machine. They were in a folder called "iWork '09" and the other owner's versions were loose in the Applications folder. I deleted the loose versions and left the ones in my "iWork '09" folder but I still have this problem that they seem to be associated with an account that I deleted from the machine. How do I reassign them to my Apple ID or at least stop the App Store app telling me about the updates?
I realise (or at least I assume) that having bought them pre App Store they will update outside of the App Store. I'm reluctand to delete them as I cannot see any way to download them again outside the App Store.
    Any help gratefully received.
    Cheers,
    Grant

I completely stuffed up my question here. I have the iWork apps issue resolved. I should have been asking about GarageBand, iPhoto and iMovie as I did on my next attempt at posting a question. Sorry

  • My Apple Remote Desktop won't update in the App Store but it won't update. Any suggestions?

I just updated to Yosemite. Now Apple Remote Desktop shows up in the App Store as an update. However, double clicking yields an alert that it can't be updated through the store. The Alert advises that I have to go to the Apple menu Software Updater. That didn't work either.

I also have ARD 3 from the disk and just updated to Yosemite. Its up to date at Version 3.7.2 (372A19).
The "update" the App Store claims is Version 3.7.2 - Released Mar 17, 2014.
The error message I get is:
We could not complete your purchase.
Remote Desktop is already installed on this computer. Choose Software Update from the Apple menu to check for available updates.
This seems like a bug to me.

If you are using the same apple id on other devices and each of the other devices are updating the same apps sucessfully then you have an issue going on with the device being what's known as being a bit 'glitchy' What I would suggest you do is first to shut down the device completely by simply pressing on the sleep wake button, (power button on the top) for a period of 5-6 seconds untill you get the message to slide bar to shut down. Once the device is shut down and the wheel has stopped spinning, you are then free to restart the device.
Once the device is restarted then please go to settings>itunes and app store Once at this area of settings you can then click on the apple id is showing there you then can click on the apple id going to where it reads sign out, Once you've signed out go right back to that same area and sign back in with the same apple id.
What this is doing is simply logging you out and then back in with the same device.
    Good luck Friend.

  • My Apple TV won't update and I can't sign into iTunes

I have the second generation Apple TV which is due an upgrade of software but it won't update. I kept getting a message saying that it wouldn't work. It also won't sign me in to iTunes and Netflix never works. Not sure of this has anything to do with not being able to upgrade. Can someone help?

We had this problem and a restart fixed it.

It sounds like you may have multiple problems, but none of them are likely to be caused by malware.
First, the internet-related issues may be related to adware or a network compromise. I tend to lean more towards the latter, based on your description of the problem. See:
    http://www.adwaremedic.com/kb/baddns.php
    http://www.adwaremedic.com/kb/hackedrouter.php
If investigation shows that this is not a network-specific issue, then it's probably adware. See my Adware Removal Guide for help finding and removing it. Note that you mention AdBlock as if it should have prevented this, but it's important to understand that ad blockers do not protect you against adware in any way. Neither would any kind of anti-virus software, which often doesn't detect adware.
As for the other issues, it sounds like you've got some serious corruption. I would be inclined to say it sounds like a failing drive, except it sounds like you just got it replaced. How did you get all your files back after the new drive was installed?

  • HT4623 My old school iPod touch won't update.  Does apple mess it's customers over by not allowing updates for older models of the touch?  My last update is Ios5.  My touch says its up to date.  So has my old school touch reached its pinnacle?

Correct. The 3G iPod does not have the hardware to support an iOS version higher than 5.1.1
To more easily find compatible apps:
iOSSearch - search the iTunes store for compatible apps.
Apple Club - filter apps by iOS version.
Starting when iOS 7 was releases, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)
App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.

  • I had to change my Apple ID. However, it won't change in my phone. I changed it in setting, but when it comes to downloading updates for apps or music, it won't update from my old Apple ID.

However, it won't change in my phone. I changed it in setting, but when it comes to downloading updates for apps or music, it won't update from my old Apple ID. For instance, I had to change my apple ID from (for instance, "[email protected]") to something else ("[email protected]"). I changed it in settings to the new one, but when I go to update apps, my phone is still connected to "[email protected]"
    What should I do?

In the Finder do a Get Info on one of those files & the folder it's in, report what it says for privileges.
Oh, did you maybe change your short username/Home Folder's name?

  • The Apple ID has been changed on my iPad but the apps won't update with the new id and password, including the apps that came with the iPad so I can't delete and reinstall with new Apple ID

What do you do if you have bought a used iPad and the apps won't update without the original id and password.  Can't delete the apps that come with the iPad and reinstall them so what do I do?

Correct. An app can only be updated under the Apple ID that was used to orginally acquire the app. If that is a problem you can delete the app and download again under the new userid. If you paid for the app you will have to pay again. Your old Apple ID does not go away so there is no reason to not use it to download the apps.
You cannot delete the apps that came with IOS. If you want to "hide" the apps simply put the apps into an application folder by dragging one app onto another. You can do this to all the IOS apps.

  • My apps won't update with my new apple id

i registered my macbook with a previous apple ID and just recently made a new one and the apps that I had downloaded with my old apple ID won't update unless I use my old apple ID which I no longer have access to..i changed my apple ID on my macbook but it still won't let me update the app...the apps I need updated are pages and numbers etc.

What you should have done is not create a new Apple ID, but made your new email address the primary email for your old Apple ID.
Changing the email address you use for your Apple ID -
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5621
But it is too late to do that as you have used the new email address to create the new Apple ID.
I suggest that you abandon the new Apple ID and email address and create a new email address to use with your old Apple ID.

  • New apple id and it won't update it on the icloud

I have changed my Apple ID because I wanted to use my personal e mail address.  It works with itunes, but now my icloud does not work.  It only pulls up my old apple id and won't let me sign in.  I backed everything up and tried to delete the account, but when it came time to turn off the Find iphone, it asked me to sign in to my old apple id.  How can I update my icloud account to reflect my new apple id?

Try going back to http://appleid.apple.com and changing the ID back to the original address. If you can get this accepted, then go to the iCloud preferences/settings pane, stop 'Find My ....', and then sign out. Do the same on any other devices or computers.
Then go back to http://appleid.apple.com and change the ID to the new one. Sign in with that on all your devices.
However as the address which forms the original ID is now not working it can't be validated and it's possible that you won't be able to revert to it. In this situation only Support can help you.
To contact  iCloud Support: if you currently happen to have AppleCare, either because you recently bought Apple hardware or have paid to extend the inititial period, you can contact them here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/
You will need the serial number of the covered hardware.
If you are not covered by AppleCare, then - in common with other free email services - there is no free support and you may be asked to pay a fee.
If you canot get this to work for you you may be able to get help from a different Support department. Go to https://getsupport.apple.com ; click' See all products and services', then 'More Products and Services, then 'Apple ID', then 'Other Apple ID Topics' then 'Lost or forgotten Apple ID password'.
