Apple TV BUG: responds slower and slower until rebooted

Why is this bug still not dealt with?
Apple TV starts responding slower and slower until it is totally useless because it take umpteen presses on the remote before it will even select menu items! Most of the time it won't even respond once it starts acting stupid and slow.
What is going on here? Why does it have problems doing the simplest things?
I have still not received a response from apple as to why this bug continues to go unfixed. It is extremely ANNOYING!!!!
I ALWAYS HAVE TO REBOOT IT BEFORE IT STARTS WORKING NORMALLY AGAIN... WHY?
Doing hardware tests does absolutely nothing to find anything wrong. Obviously there is something wrong when it doesn't respond for half a minute or more!
<Edited by Moderator>

These have been ongoing issues for quite some time. I suspect there are still some cache and/or memory management problems that have yet to be worked out. I recently had to put mine on an HDMI switch and it frequently becomes unresponsive and needs to be reset after I switch back to it from another device, so there are still some HDMI issues as well.
I think it's still a work in progress, but despite the annoying glitches, it performs well most of the time. It will be interesting to see what improvements are made whenever the second generation comes along. Hopefully it will include a reset button and/or a power switch, considering how often it needs to be reset to restore normal functioning.

  • ORACLE DB getting slower until reboot

    Hi,
I'm running oracle db 10g on Linux. After a while (few days) system becomes slower and slower like 10 x times .... but after reboot of the mashine, becomes
    normal again.
Can anyone give me any hints where to look for the problem ? There are 12 clients connectiong to the mashine on daily basis through the Win .NET application ... doing basic stuff , reading, writting, deleting ....
    Any hints please ?

  • My Apple TV 1st gen is stuck in the restore menu and will not reboot.

Hi, my Apple TV froze last night and when I rebooted it it will not let me restart or reboot to factory settings, can any one offer any advice.  Cheers.

AppleTV1 had a recovery hard drive partition that could restore to the shipping software version.
It sounds as though there has been some corruption of the hard drive software preventing access to the necessary settings.  There is no real easy fix for this, and it may be a sign of impending drive/hardware failure.
If he had another AppleTV he could potentially try to clone the drive of a good one onto a bad one but that would generally involve dismantling when the one unit does not respond. I'm not aware that Apple would offer any kind of repair option here.

    See:
    '''[[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]'''
    '''[[Troubleshooting plugins]]'''
    '''[[Basic Troubleshooting]]'''
If the problem does not occur in Safe-mode then disable all of your Extensions and Plug-ins and then try to find which is causing it by enabling <u>'''one at a time'''</u> until the problem reappears. <u>'''You MUST close and restart Firefox after EACH change'''</u> via File > Restart Firefox (on Mac: Firefox > Quit). You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window.

I hate how apple leaves iPod touch 4g and iPhone 4 in the dark and basically force us to upgrade to newer devices. Apple could of done better with the update and needs to resolve these issues.

    Try:
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • After starting up, it seems to get slower and slower until it times out

It starts up fine, but then it gets slower and slower until it either freezes or it times out.

Try to boot up in safe mode by holding the shift key down when the computer starts up:

I have same Problem. I tried all options - Reset All Settings, Erase Content & reset all settings, Upgrated to IOS8.1, Restore using iTune. But problem persists.
When I turn Cellular Data or Wifi ON, then there is a lag while opening the Apps. But If I turn Data/Wifi off, phone becomes super fast. I have checked with my friends. They are not facing this issue. Not sure if Apple know this.

I had something similar a couple of week ago, it would scroll then stop, scroll then stop.
At some point the porblem went away.
Try unpowering and restarting your AppleTV.  Rsetart iTunes too.

  • After APTV and itunes upgrade on mac, streaming from itunes to Apple TV is very slow.

After APTV and itunes upgrade on mac to latest on 02/15, streaming from itunes to Apple TV is very slow. even 5 mins song takes 10-15 mins to start. Netflix/Youtube work fine on Apple TV. restarted Mac, router, modem, appletv. reset Appletv to factory setting and re-start.

Apple TV 2 does not appear in iTunes (exception being when connected via micro-usb for restore) as it has no sync capabilities.

  • Ask your question.APPLE WEB SITE IS SLOW

I'm on apple support page,I ask a question,10sec later the page comes up. I click on a question and 5 sec later the tiny circular spins letting me know it's looking for the page and then 5 sec later the page opens. Anything and every thing I do the apple web site takes about 10sec or longer every time I click go.
A lot of times if I click twice and some times just once I get a pop up telling me Apple is not responding.
I thought it was verizon service but I just got charter and it's the same way. Any Ideas??
I just went down this page to find out where the best place on apple is to put my question and I clicked the box WiFi and 5 sec later the check mark showed up.

I actualy had Verizon shut off and removed there security from my p/c and I'm in awe. My p/c is fast and I no longer have trouble with turning pages. I was wrong about charter.com it's who I have now and I'm not haveing trouble with slow int and clicking on the next web page is fast.
At first it was the same thing w/charter but I still had verizon. I wanted to see if charter was better before I got rid of Verizon but I got speed only after I called Verizon and had them shut me off and then I got rid of there security.
    I HOPE THIS HELPS.

  • Apple track pad very slow connecting after sleep

I have a late 2009 iMac (11,1) running10.10.1.  It is very slow (5 to 35 seconds) connecting to my Apple trackpad whether I am logged in when I put the iMac to sleep or whether no one is logged in.  I have run EtreCheck and am including the output.  I would appreciate anyone offering advice on what to do to get my trackpad to connect quickly.
    Thanks,

    Try the basics first:
Change your router channel number.  Most times this works & is all you have to do.
Disconnect & reconnect your modem.  unplug it for about 10 seconds.  Plug it back in.  Do the same for Apple’s routers.  Wait for everything to reboot.
    System Preferences>Network
    Click the Assist Me button.
In the next window that pops up, click the Diagnostic button & do the necessary.

My apple tv mirroring is slow.  So slow it shuts off.  Any thoughts on cause?  I use this device in my office for presentations without a problem.  In my home with a stronger wifi router, I'm having issues.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.
