Apple Tv Firewall error.

I am running itunes 7.5.0.20 on a windows vista machine with ATV running via wireless connection through an Airport.
I am able to find the ATV and connect and start to upload items to it, but after a certain amount of time I get an error saying that itunes can not connect make sure your firewall will allow connections from port #. I can close itunes and start it back up, and it will work again for awhile, then I get the same error. I have to do this all the time.
I have uninstalled itunes and did a factory reset on the ATV, but it still happens.
This makes it impossible to stream. I am able to connect the ATV to my pc, and start the stream, but after 10-15 mins I lose the connection, and have to restart itunes.
Any idea's on how to fix this problem?

If it works for a while and then stops it isn't a firewall problem. Next time it happens check the Apple TV and see if it lost its network connection. If it keeps dropping its network connection but you don't have any other problems with your network, the Apple TV may have a bad NIC.

Firewall error now won't turn on

last night i received the firewall error message, and today my nano will not turn on. i've checked everything, but nothing is working. when i plug it into my computer, the screen flashes blank once,and then goes black again. the 5 r's did nothing. what should i do?

I would contact AppleCare or make an appointment for your local Apple Store.
At this point, i believe your phone is just dead. Its possible the power brick was badly manufactured or something of the like, so make sure you also get the cord and power brick replaced.

I am experiencing the exact same issue during the installtion process for iTunes 10.5.
I uninstalled all Apple components but when I attempted to uninstall the Apple Software Update I received the same message: "Fatal error during installtion." I was able to repair the Apple Software Update but still could not install iTunes 10.5 afterwards.

If so, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?

After reading all these posts, one by one did not resolve my problem until I got the very end. Regardless of what step would resolve your problem, these are the steps I would recomment to everyone for a what seems to be a safe and fool-proof upgrade to iTunes 10.5.
1. Stand alone upgrade to the latest Quicktime version
2. Go to control panel and "change" then select repair to the following applications in the order specified by the post on Oct 27. (Notice I skipped Quicktime because it had been upgrade manually,and Bonjour did not have a "repair" option)
iTunes; Apple Software Update: Mobile Device Support; Apple Applications Support
Some of these applications may not appear if they do not apply to your configuration (no iPhone, or no iPad, or other apple devices).
Once all updated, I did not need to restart nor launch any applications, I simply went straight into the 10.5 upgrade, and where it normally got stuck, this time the installation continued for a while longer until it completed successfully.

Thanks - Even though I'm years out of warranty I got chat help from Apple (I said they should help me since the codes aren't published.) We covered three different questions, and although I didn't get a specific decoding of the error code, I got confirmation of what other comments here imply - it might have helped that I indicated I'd already been here - and useful links to how to do back ups, including to CD(s). (I don't have a lot of data on this computer yet)
Now I need to figure out how to decide how hot-to-the-touch is "too hot" for the metal frame at the top of the iMac to decide whether I'm getting adequate fan performance or insufficient. While chatting I initially reported it was cool at the bottom and warm at the top. Apple hadn't asked, but their response prompted me to feel it again, and I'd say the top was hot, not warm - I updated but Apple didn't comment further except to conclude after addressing the other questions that I should take it in for further assessment - don't really want to bother with that.

Apple's Firewall opens the wrong ports!

This is a follow up question to a problem posted in another forum here. There are a couple of screenshots in the last post that illustrate the problem.
In System Preferences > Sharing > Firewall, checking Apple Remote Desktop opens TCP and UDP ports 3238. The problem is that Apple Remote Desktop needs ports 3283 (not 3238 - note the last two digits are transposed) and 5900. I've already worked around this issue by creating a new firewall entry that opens the correct ports, but I'd really like to get my Sharing Preferences corrected. Plus it bothers me that I can't block port 3238 by unchecking Apple Remote Desktop since that will prevent ARD from working, even though it opens the wrong ports.
This isn't really an Apple Remote Desktop problem, it's something wrong with the firewall in this system's version of OS X. Any idea how I can fix it, other than the ugly workaround I'm using, and short of reinstalling OS X?

Editing the .plist file is easy with xcode's Property List Editor, which I just installed. However, before I did that I simply copied a "correct" /Library/Preferences/com.apple.sharing.firewall.plist file from another computer. That was even easier
