Apple TV speaker sugguestions

Hey everyone,
So I recently left my dorm and back home where I currently have an area in the living room to call my bedroom. This means between my sleep schedule and bad hearing, there are issues with my family and my TV sound. I only use my Apple TV for watching things and I am trying to figure out a way to put a speaker next to my bed so that I can hear the sound without having to turn the volume up too loud. I tried using my Bose Soundlink Color with a Bluetooth transmitter, which got me what I was looking for, except there was a delay and it resulted in lips not synching to the audio which annoys me way too much for me to tolerate.
I've been looking into Airplay speakers thinking maybe they would sync better and not have a delay, but I am not exactly sure which speakers are able to work with the Apple TV and also I cannot spend too much as I am in college and don't have a lot of money.
Does anyone have an tips or opinions on how to be able to hear my audio without waking the entire house?
Apple TV is model number MC572LL/A

Some receivers will have outputs for a secondary set of speakers, although some that do may only work if the receiver receives an analogue input which the Apple TV doesn't provide. Check if your receiver has such a feature.

  • How do I use an airport express with the Apple A1121 speaker?

I have the old Apple A1121 speaker, and have only just stumbled upon the fact I could play music from my MacBookPro or other apple device through the AirPort Express wirelessly. But I don't understand how to do it? Any help would be much appreciated.

No, actually a really good question. The adapter is basically a 3.5 mm audio plug on one end and a digital optical jack on the other. It is designed to be used with a digital optical cable. Some cable providers have these in one unit. That is, the adapter is permanently attached to one end of the cable.
The following link is just one example of these types of cables/adapters.

  • Apple TV Speaker Problem! HELP!

I am using my apple tv with my tv speakers (Which are Bose). I am buying yamaha speakers for my patio  is their a way i can have two speaker systems connected to the apple tv with the ability to switch between them without having to unplug them. Both speakers will need to be wired into the apple tv. If that is not possible i would buy airplay enabled speakers but they would have to match the yamaha price of $150.

  • Multiple Speaker box shows a locked Apple TV speaker option.

In my Multiple Speaker box under iTunes my Apple TV icon has a small image of a "Lock" in the locked position.  I think this is the reason I can't play music through the speakers connected to my Apple TV.  How do I unlock this?

Yes. I did.  But here's an update.  I just now checked my firewall settings under System Preferences and turned OFF the firewall.  That solved my problem.  I do not know what risk I am open to with Firewall off but I guess I hope for no consequences.  Thanks for getting back to me.  I apologize for not posting my solution but I just did it.

  • Apple Watch Speaker Volume Low

The sound coming out of my Apple Watch during a phone conversation is very low even though the slider is set to maximum.  Is anyone else experiencing this ?
    Thanks,

Nope. Mine pretty loud... like a speaker phone on iPhone (almost)!. Any plastic cover still there by chance on your watches that might be muffling the speaker?

  • Apple EarPods Speaker Messed Up

So I bought my Apple EarPods almost two months ago, and the left speaker that goes into the ear canal has stopped working. Will Apple replace them? Or what?

Hey, I realize is post is pretty old, but for future quarries regarding the EarPods, I have found a solution.  After turning in my EarPods for very low volume in the left ear, I found the same problem with my new pair.  The difference was with the right ear instead of the left.  For whatever reason I found that when I placed the EarPods in opposite ears, (which you will have to turn them around) they fit more comfortably, and sound better.  The main issue with this is that the stereo in entirely inverted.  So in other words, when your watching Game of Thrones on HBO GO, when the door slams in the left ear, the door is actually slamming on the right.   I contacted Apple support and they informed me this was unintentional.  I also notice that the background noise cancellation is increased with this switch.  Also, if an administrator is viewing this post, it appears to be that the main component breaks frequently, especially considering that the EarPods were purchased from Apple Retail, thus preventing potential 3rd party defection.

  • Apple Pro Speaker Output Adapter

My Apple Pro speakers, after serving me well for years, finally went Kaput. I bought a new set of speakers and tried to plug them in in the same output when i realized they wouldn't fit, the male end was too big for the speaker port. My question is this: is there an adapter available to make standard 3.5 mm plugs fit in the Apple speaker port? The new speakers will fit in the headphone output but the quality and volume is DEFINITELY inferior... any help is greatly appreciated.

No; the connection is different for a reason. Although 2.5mm to 3.5mm adaptors are available you should not connect any speakers other than Apple Pro Speakers in to the Pro Speaker connection. Is it a high power port and 3rd party speakers could be damaged. This article refers (click Devices and Ports > Sound System on the left and read the Sound Output paragraphs).

  • Apple TV speaker connection

    I'm looking for some suggestions regarding the best way to do the following;
While building my house I pre-wired my master bathroom with wire to allow me to install speakers in the ceiling. Those wires run to a location above the bathroom door where I intend to install a small 22" TV and an Apple TV. The thought is to have the ability to listen to music or watch movies while getting ready or taking a bath (wife).
My problem and where I'm looking for help is, a device(s) to output the sound from Apple TV to an amp(?) to drive the speakers mounted in the bathroom ceiling. I'm guessing I will have to go from TOS (optical) out to an amp. Has anybody done something like this or seen a product(s) that would allow me to drive those speakers?
    Thanks for the help

I have an Apple TV in the bathroom, I also have a TV in the bathroom, but it's built for a bathroom, I certainly wouldn't recommend you putting a regular TV in a bathroom. My particular TV doesn't output an analogue signal from a digital input (Apple TV) so I have the analogue output from the TV (for regular viewing) connected to one input on an amp and the optical from the Apple TV via a DAC to another input. I have the amp accessible from the garage so there aren't any non IP rated devices to fiddle with in the bathroom.
I also have an airport express connected to the same amp so I can airplay music from my phone without having the TV in use at all.
Of course it also helps if you can control the amp from the phone as well.

  • Early 2013 Macbook Pro Retina 2.7 i7 512GB SSD and 16gb Ram with Serious Cuda Problems! Trying to teach Apple their Macbook Pro Retina isn't a Pro Jan. 11. 2015.

Apple replaced the logic board, wiped the computer, did a fresh instal of the OS, and also a fresh instal of all the programs during the beginning of 2015. The GeekBench scores are the highest of any of the similar computers (at least on the day of my testing). But here's what's happening. The Macbook Pro Retina has a GeForce GT 650m with Cuda Technology and it can't handle editing in Premiere Pro with Cuda Acceleration turned on. Open CL, a second form of graphic acceleration on the Macbook Pro, appears to be functioning properly.
At the Apple Store on 1-10-2015, I was told that since the logic board and the graphic cards have been replaced that there is nothing they can do and they recommend contacting Corporate. This comes after they told me to buy a new logic board and that that would solve the problem. This comes after Apple did not listen, for over a month, about the possibility that they didn't properly build a professional notebook computer.
The computer displays a black program monitor screen, at random times, when the user edits footage with Cuda Acceleration enabled. It used to lead to an entire system crash and/or a Premiere Pro crash before the operating system was completely re-installed. My solution, since I bought the computer, was to edit in Open CL... However, I've come to learn that there is a major difference in performance between Open CL and Cuda Acceleration.
For the Macbook Pro Retina, Adobe Media Encoder render times are about 20% faster with Cuda Acceleration than Open CL. The 2013 Macbook Pro Retina appears to be able to handle Cuda Acceleration in Media Encoder, but I have had a number of issues leading to program crashes on every project before the new logic board and operating system were installed. For over a year and a half, I actually never used Cuda Acceleration. Having sent every crash report and user data to Apple over that time, I truly expected an update of some sorts and it never came.
FYI: The latest Macbook Pro Retina uses the GeForce GT 750m... This is essentially the same graphic card that performs about 10 - 20% faster due to a new "boost mode." More importantly, it actually has the exact same number of Cuda cores. Having the same number of Cuda Cores means that the Cuda Acceleration is essentially the same when exporting or viewing video. To prove a point to Apple that their 2013 Macbook Pro Retina isn't functioning properly, I bought the latest computer with the 2.5 i7, 16gb Ram, 512gb SSD and I can honestly say that the 2014 model works perfectly fine with Cuda Acceleration turned on while editing in Premiere. I can also say that a proper render test proved the 2013 and 2014 model to be the exact same.
I'm new to this whole pay $2700 for a computer that your manufacturer didn't / can't test properly, so I will be contacting Apple and speaking with Senior Advisors, their Customer Support division, and will soon speak with their Corporate branch. I'm confident that the Early 2013 Macbook Pro Retina with a 2.7 i7 16gb Ram and a 512 SSD is nearly the same at rendering video and editing video, provided the Cuda Acceleration works, as their latest 2014 Macbook Pro Retina with the 2.5 i7 processor 16gb Ram, and a 512 SSD. It's truly a great computer and a great build, minus their current inability to properly test / diagnose their computer.
Knowing that the latest graphic card in the Macbook Pro lineup is essentially the same model, I feel that Apple is not directly looking into the viability and life span of their current Macbook Pro Retina product line. They can't test for performance issues relating to their graphic cards, so why consider buying from them when the end user is actually in a position to experience up to a 20% decrease in certain professional programs.
For future reference, I'd strongly urge other individuals to avoid purchasing Apple products if they offer Cuda Technology. In my opinion, Apple is an Open CL organization, at best, who is not responsibly manufacturing / producing computers that fit their organization's strengths. For a fact, they can't test their Cuda Technology and won't even attempt to address Cuda Acceleration errors for Apple owners (01-11-2015). I say this having walked out of the Apple Store on 1-10-2015 with virtually no support other than to contact Corporate.

  • Apple Pro Speakers Question???

    Hello-
I was recently trying to connect my Apple Pro Speakers to a intel-iMac G5.
They don't seem to fit in to the external speaker port. Is there anyway
to connect the speakers? Your help would be appreciated.
    c.coupe

Griffin Tech made a USB based audio system that can be used with the Apple Pro Speakers. It actually has that same connector and provides power for the speakers. Unfortunately, it is no longer offered, but maybe you'll see one on eBay. It's called the PowerWave. I have one.
    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4969110/
It connects by USB and is powered through USB and through an external power adapter. It has input and output connections galore (an audio Swiss Army Knife). That connection for the Apple Pro Speaker can be used with an included breakout cable for connecting a pair of regular +living room+ audio system stereo speakers (the unpowered type). I have mine connected to decent large speakers with the other RCA connector output connected to a stand-alone sub-roofer. Pretty nice sound.
I bought it back when I was using a G3 iMac, but it still works fine on my Intel iMac.
Note: Griffin also makes a device called FireWave. It does not provide powered output for speakers like PowerWave.

  • Apple Pro Speakers and iFire adaptor

I am using an iBook G4 and hooked it up to external Apple Pro speakers (the clear orbs by Harmon Kardon) via an iFire adaptor.
I have been having problems since I purchased the adaptor in June. Griffin has been VERY helpful, and has replaced the unit three times. The first two worked about two weeks apiece, and then cut out completely. The third worked for about a week and then went quieter than the internal speakers. The one I just received worked for one song, then after I disconnected it and plugged it back in it fails to work.
Is there something wrong with my iBook? I have had it a year and have had no other problems with the computer or peripherals...
    Any ideas would be helpful.

I have successfully cut off the Apple Pro Speaker's jack and connected it to a mini plug. Keep in mind that part of the "trick" with the Apple Pro speakers is that is uses an amp inside the iMac G4 to amplify and drive the speakers.
To compensate you can plug it into an amp
    or do what I do.
I have my iTunes audio turned all the way up combined with the software "Volume Logic" which also amplifies the signal further. Lastly, I have the Powerbook's own volume turned all the way up. It works and gives me better sound than the built in speakers and is about as loud as it is on it's own loudest setting, which is loud enough for me.
Also, please don't attempt this if you are not willing to make a mistake and render your speakers useless. I am an audio engineer and not everybody has the patience to play with wire and get them to connect adequately to create a signal.
    The right speaker has:
    shielding on the outside
    a layer of foil
    a brown wire
    a yellow wire
    The left speaker has:
    shielding on the outside
    a layer of foil
    a blue wire
    a white wire
Pull the foil away and when connecting these wires MAKE SURE THEY DO NOT TOUCH WIRES THAT THEY ARE NOT PURPOSELY ATTACHED TO.
Get a mini or headphones connector where the left and right wires are easily stripped and separated. I used one where the right wire is clearly red and the left is clearly white and both wires have shielding.
Make sure the stripped wires are stripped at least an inch above the shielding so there is less opportunity to touch.
Twist the shielding of all wires together and cover with electrical tape.
Twist the Brown and the Blue wires from the two speakers together and cover with electrical tape
Twist the white wire from the Apple Pro speaker together with the left (in my case white) wire connected to the mini connector, cover with electrical tape.
Twist the Yellow wire from the Apple Pro speaker together with the right (in my case red) wire connected to the mini connector, cover with electrical tape.

  • Apple Pro Speakers with Mac Pro?  Suggestions?

I have a need for a small pair of desktop speakers to use with my spiffy new Mac Pro. The only speakers I can find seem to be more than I need, as as they all have a large subwoofer. I currently have - shudder - a pair of old Dell speakers snagged at a garage sale for 25¢. Now they work fine...but they look awful. I've seen Apple Pro speakers listed on eBay; I assume they're no longer made. Will these work with my MacPro, or can anyone suggest a pair of small speakers?
    Thanks for any thoughts shared...

  • Apple Pro Speakers Minijack Plug to 3.5mm???????

I would love any suggestions anyone has as to making Griffin's Pro Speaker Breakout Cable compatible with the iMac G5.
I just made the very foolish mistake of purchasing Griffin's Pro Speaker Breakout Cable for my iMac G5, which I am sure others, more up to speed on their apple products, realize are not compatible. The Pro Speaker Breakout Cable, as its name would suggest, connects to the Apple Pro Speakers Minijack available in G4s and G3s.
I need someway to connect this Apple Pro Mini plug (2.5mm plug) to my audio-out 3.5mm output jack on my iMac. I have found this connector http://www.mpja.com/productview.asp?product=11298+AD but I am not sure if the 2.5mm Apple jack is the same as other 2.5mm jacks. Does anyone know if the two are compatible???
I guess the other option is the iFire - or, conversely, to just forget the whole thing and get some new speakers.
Any suggestions on the best/ most cost effective option would be greatly appreciated!!!
    Thanks in advance,
    Chris

If you are trying to connect Apple Pro speakers to your iMac G5, the iFire is the only method.
It is not a matter of simply changing the plug. The headphone output jack on the iMac G5 is electrically different than the Apple Pro Speaker output on the iMac G4.
