  • My Lightning to USB Cables can not work

    Hi,
I brought an Ipad Air about 2 weeks ago. And today only to find the Lightning to USB Cables can not work. Can I get help from you?

I can't help you, but if your cables don't work, you can visit your local Apple Store, and they'll likely give you free replacements. (That happened with my iPad Mini.)

  • My computer is not recognizing my apple usb cable what do I need to do

my laptop is not recognizing my apple usb cable I'm using windows vista what should I do? my Ipod is disabled and I need to connect it to itunes so my iphone for and update.

Try connecting your Mac to the Time Capsule with an Ethernet cable to see if that lets AirPort Utility "see" the Time Capsule.

  • Why won't a apple usb cable charge my ipad?

So I left town for work and forgot my ipad charger. I've tried a generic once for ipods that didn't work and I also tried an offical apple usb cable direct to the computer and that didn't work. Anyone have any suggestions on why those don't work other than buying an ipad specific one?

The USB ports on most computers are too low power-out to charge the ipads with them powered up. They will slowly charge the ipad with the ipad sleeping.
It will say "not charging" when awake, but it may very slowly charge.
The ipad supplied charger is 10 watts (5 Volts at 2 amps)
The iphone/ipod chargers are typically 5 watts (5 volts at 1 amp)
The typical computer's usb port is 2.5 watts (5 volts at 0.5 amps)
Note: Some of the newer mac's have a higher powered usb port and will give a good charge indication on the ipad.
    Hope this helps...

  • Apple TV 2G can't detect any wifi network. Any solution to this? I would rather not use a cable due the distance to my modem is too far... thanks

My 2G ATv recently can't detect any wifi connection... Tried restoring and updating but no joy... anyone has a solution to this? I would rather not use a cable.

Your AppleTV should not be looking for any wifi, It should be looking for your wifi. What kind of wifi router do you have and how far is it from your AppleTV?

  • Factory boxed Apple usb cable wont fit in 4S

    Hi,
I recently purchased an iPhone 4S while overseas. In the box it came with ear phones, usb wall charger and a usb cable.
The end of the usb cable that is supposed to fit into the iphone won't fit in. On closer inspection I found that one of the two "prongs" doesn't spring back in to allow the charger to slide into the iPhone.
I am looking for advice on what to do. Is this a common problem or has anyone ever encountered it before? Can/should I force back in? I've tried to but worried I will damage it.
I can't bring it back to the store I bought it from

    Thanks,
I looked around on the apple support page. My iphone was out of the initial 90 day free tech support but still covered by 1 year warranty.
Not only did they call me, but they are sending me out a replacement for free
(initially on the call they wanted me to return it but due to an error they decided to send it for free)
    Appreciate the help!

  • I've bought an Apple USB drive, can I use this to load DVD's onto my computer so I only need to take the laptop on holiday with me rather than the USB drive and dvd's?

I've bought one of the Apple USB Superdrives thinking I could use it to load DVD's and save them onto my macbook pro, can anyone confirm if I can or can't do this?
If I can how do I do it?

Ok so any chance you could explain to me exactly what I need to do as I am absolutely clueless! I have a pile of DVD's, the USB superdrive and I've just downloaded the Handbrake software. When I put the DVD into the superdrive it starts playing, how do I get the series onto my computer?
If you haven't done this before, there are a few things you need to know. Sorry to say that this is not yet a simple, straightforward process like it is for music CDs. It helps to be a little geeky. You will need to make some choice about file format and file size if there is any chance that the imported discs will take up more space than you have available on your hard drive. If you are willing to learn, you should read the Handbrake User Guide and other articles on the Web about importing DVDs.
If you think this is starting to look complicated and you don't have time to figure it out before the trip, it might be easier to just bring the discs.
I have found that Handbrake can't import every disc. I think Mac DVD Ripper Pro is a much easier program to use, and it will import almost any DVD pretty reliably, but it costs money. For me it is worth it.
No matter which way you do it, it is going to take a lot of time to import a bunch of discs. It is going to take a lot more time than importing music CDs.

  • I have an iPad 3 if I use the USB cable can I print to any printer no connected to a computer

I have an iPad 3 if I use the USB cable to any printed not connected to a computer will I be able to print

No. iPads print only wirelessly. You need an Airprint capable printer,
or a network printer reachable wirelessly or a printer that can make
its own ad hoc wireless network. There is no USB connection on an
    iPad.
What type (manufacturer & model) are you trying to print to?

This is too obvious, but neverthelees:
Have you checked that the card works on another computer?
Does a different USB or FW device work on the same computer port?
Is there a card actually in the reader?

  • Apple USB Cable Failures

Our family purchased 4 iPhones a few months ago. Already 2 of the USB charging cables that came with them have failed. I'm using BatteryLog monitoring software on the iPhone and when I play with the cable at the end that connects to the phone, the software will flash back and forth that it is charging and then it is not charging. Now this morning, our Daughter is reporting her phone doesn't charge most of the time, so I'm thinking it's another bad USB charging cable from Apple. I bought a single third party USB cable and it works fine and has had no problems.
I understand the cable is not under warranty, but it looks like these are defective to me. Anyone else have this same problem?
    Thank you.

The cable is covered by the same warranty as the iPhone. Personally, I have many cables (from multiple iPhones/iPods and the BT charging cables. Never had a problem with any of them. When you disconnect them, be sure to pull on the plugs, not the cable.

  • Cannot send faxes w/ Apple USB modem, can you offer some help please?

    Hi,
I am using the Apple USB modem connected to my brand new MacBook and so far could not send any faxes. The modem is working because I was able to receive 1 fax (which I sent to myself from my Nokia 9300i).
The monitor tells me that: dialing... ok, connecting...ok, sending... and then it fails.
On the other side (my Nokia 9300i) the fax is starting to come in but shortly thereafter it stops.
I tried Apple Fax (embbedded in the OS) and also PageSender v.4 with the same results.
Anyone of you can offer any suggestion/help as to why this is happening?
    Thanks

I have always believed that the answer to this is yes, however, I have never had occasion to test it. In the past when we all used dialup it was either/or, because you couldn't fax with the same modem you were using to connect to an ISP at the same time. But since you are configuring internet through one network and faxing through another, it should work. Maybe someone actually doing it will wade in here.
Of course, there are a lot of efax services out there now that let you send and receive faxes through the internet.

  • Ext Apple USB Modem - can't send out a fax!?!?

    Hello all,
I'm having trouble sending a fax using the Apple USB modem. FYI, I did create an IP printer with the address of 127.0.0.1 and chose Generic PostScript Printer as the "print using" setting.
Specifically, I'm trying to fax a document I scanned into IPhoto. I was figuring I could click to print the doc and then switch to the IP Printer (FAX) and was then expecting a prompt for an outgoing fax number - never got the prompt.
Thanks in advance for any help.

    Welcome to the discussions.
Mail 1.3.11 is the correct version for system 10.3.
I think the port in your error message refers to the SMTP server port. This setting is in the preferences for Mail. Choose Accounts, Select the account having trouble, and choose Account Information and then Server Settings. Write down the server port, so you can reset it in case changing it doesn't help. If it is not 465, try that. If 465 doesn't work, contact your mail service provider as to the correct setting -- my understanding is that they could choose something different, although most will use 465. Make sure the rest of the information in the SMTP server settings is correct.
You can upgrade to 10.4 if you wish -- there are pros and cons in doing so.

  • Kink Apple lightning cable can harm your iPhone?

My iPhone 5 died, logic board dead. I went to the store and was told by an Apple technician that kink(ed) cables (creases and lumps in the ends of charging cables) can insert negative charge into the phone and eventually harm your device. I tried to look into it but I can't find information on the internet. Can anyone confirm that this is true? that creases towards the ends of the lightning cable can harm your device.
    Thanks in advance.

Depending on the level of damage to the cable, yes it very well could.

  • "miniDVI-DVI adaptor" + "DVI to VGA cable" can't detect LCD TV

    Hi,
I just bought a "miniDVI-to-DVI" adapter, and then a DVI-to-VGA male-to-male cable to connect my MacBook to Viewsonic 19" monitor but my MacBook didn't detect the 19" monitor. (This 19" monitor has only VGA but no DVI input!)I tried it on my friend's 32" LCD TV but it couldn't work too.
Then I tried to connect my MacBook by using "miniDVI-DVI" adaptor + "DVI-DVI male to male" cable to DVI socket of my frind's 32" LCD TV. It worked! So I think it's not the problem of the "miniDVI-DVI" adaptor.
I worried that it's the problem of the "DVI-to-VGA" cable so I went to the shop to exchange another new "DVI-to-VGA" cable. But my MacBook still couldn't detect all these 2 monitors via VGA socket.
Can anybody help me? Please advise! Thanks!

    Hi,
    Thanks for your response.
The shopman told me that "miniDVI-VGA" adaptor was out of stock, only "miniDVI-DVI" adaptor was available yesterday. At that time I thought I had to buy a connecting cable also (no matter it's VGA-VGA or DVI-VGA cable).
Since my friend has a DVI-DVI cable, if I buy this "miniDVI-to-DVI" adapter I may share my MacBook with his 32" TV too. So I bought these adaptor & cable.
