Apple wont replace my iPhone (dead pixel)

i just got off the phone with iPhone support and they said they wouldn't replace my phone... I have a dead pixel and the guy said it had to be more then one pixel to "be a problem"
So my one dead pixel that i notice every time i look at my phone isn't a problem? whats up with that?
I love apple to death but come on... i spent $600 on this phone and your not gonna help me out?

It's a tough thing to hear but any company that manufactures an LCD anything will usually tell you that dead pixels are just a part of the hardware and you typically need several for it to be considered defective. This is what you'll get from any MP3 or monitor manufacturer.

  • IPhone Dead Pixel

Hey everyone.  recently got my iphone about three weeks ago and have already noticed a dead pixel. It is a white pixel on a black background, particularly noticeable when charging and booting up. I love my iphone, it works great its just that this dead pixel is kinda frustrating considering the amount of money I spent for this phone.
I was wondering if apple would replace my iphone?
And also, how long does the warranty last for dead pixels? Should I return it before the 30 day mark, or will they still replace it up to a year?
    Thanks for your help.

so as long as its under a year, they will replace my phone with a dead pixel?
    Maybe.
But you will need to take it to an Apple store or go here -> https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do

  • Apple Macbook Pro 15 Retina dead pixel explosion

    I have a 3 month old MBP Retina 15.
The display but has been plagued with problems. The 1st screen started developing 3 dead pixels (2 larger) at 1.5 months and the Regent St store arranged a replacement display. The duty supervisor on the day said 'dead pixels are normal' and 'these are very hard displays to get right'. They are not encouraging   it is not 'normal' for a new laptop costing £1800 to develop such issues.
The 2nd screen has now developed a dead pixel explosion. It was 4 the last time I counted. Such screen degradation is very worrying and I notice some other forum members have experienced similar issues. I would assume it is a certain batch of displays that is causing this issue?
If the display didn't degrade so quickly, I could say it was an excellent laptop with superb display clarity but I can't in the circumstances. I have now booked a 2nd appointment at the genius bar and I don't wish to be told again that this is to be expected with such displays. Apple have a reputation to uphold on quality and reliability. I've never had these issues with my Thinkpads over the years.

I would think that you might have an argument for a replacement machine... if after three trips the machine still isn't operating properly, I would contact Apple Customer Relations and explain to them that instead of repairing the machine time and again, you'd like a replacement.
See http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 for your local phone number.
No guarantee that they'll go for it, but you can always try.
    Good luck,

  • IPhone dead pixels?

I recently got my iPhone's screen changed after I noticed a huge amount of dead grey pixels growing near the bottom. After being replaced, it was good as new. A couple of months later and I noticed a few grey pixels at the top and they grew longer and wider by the day. At this point, I can only see half of the time and my carrier. I sent in my iPhone once more and they told me they switched my LCD, and I have payed for it as well as I no longer have a warranty but I can still see the dead pixels near the top. The first time was succesful, why not now? I'm starting to doubt the fact that they changed my LCD. Can anyone please tell me if the pixels would remain even after changing an LCD? It seems highly unlikely. Please help me as I still have the reciept and would need to take action immediately.

how can I identify stuck pixels with a magnifying glass?
You can't, but you can identify dust.

  • The iPhone Dead Pixels

    Hi
+I own an iPhone 2G 16GB running on OS 3.1.2.+
+There are some dead pixel on my screen.+
+Is there any way to fix them softwarely or just I have to replace the screen?+
+Also is there any idea about the Knox iPhone Stuck Pixel Fix method?+
+Merry Christmas and the Lord bless+
    Mehran

The only way to tell if it is software related would be to restore your iphone back to its original settings and choosing "setup as a new iphone" at then end of the process. Other than that its going to be a issue with the display itself and would need to be replaced.

  • One of my 2 iPhone 5S does not connect to WiFi unless I'm in the same room, Apple has replaced the iPhone 3 times same problem

I replaced both of my iPhone 4S/7.x  with iPhone 5S/7.x and neither was qable to connect to any WiFi unless I was within 20' of the WiFi router. So I took both to the Apple store and they replaced both iPhone 5S.
Now one works perfectly, however the other does not. I went to the Apple store again, and they replaced the replacement iPhone 5S with another 5S. Same problem.
I went back to the Apple store again and they replaced replacement #2 with another replacement, so this is the 3rd time! They recommended I take the replacement iPhone 5S and not restore, but start as a new iPhone. Before I did anything, I checked to see if the WiFi worked "out of the box"....it did not!! Thus, there wasn't any reason to do a new install, since it did not appear to be my software load.
By the way, all 3 of my MacBook Pro's and iPad work perfectly over WiFi.
Also, all my iPhones and iPad are on v 7.04
It doesn't appear to make sense to go back to the Apple store Genius Bar, as it appears all of their stock have this issue.
Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated

  • Apple Store replace my iPhone 5?

Will the Apple Store replace on the spot my iPhone 5 if it has a hardware issue? My iPhone is still under warranty.

Yes, it determined to be covered by warranty. Make an appointment at any Apple store.

  • Screen replaced due to dead pixels

I had my screen replaced under warranty due to dead pixels, the dead pixels are back but my laptop is now out of warranty. My question is how long is that replaced part guaranteed for is it still in line with the overall laptop warranty or as its been replaced does it have its own timeframe?
    Thanks in advance.

Thank you guy's for chiming in...
On 11/18/2013 when I took it into the store to have them look at it I remember the Genius teling me that they could have forgoten to change the "Boot Order" from "Wireless to SSD."
I guess they change the Boot Order to Boot Wireless first then SSD - they most likely forgot to change the Boot Order back to SSD first then Wireless which is probably what was causing all the problems I was experiencing from 10/31/2013 till 11/18/2013.
    - On 11/18/2013 I dropped the laptop off at 11:30 am and picked it up the same day at 8:30 pm; is this enough time for them to run all these tests? I don't know...
    - Could it have been a faulty SSD or something that wasn't seated properly during install? I don't know...
So far the laptop seems to be working fine - I have not experienced any problems that were present form 10/31/2013 till 11/18/2013. I have been using this computer and so far the  internet has not been acting funny nor has the world sign showed up on start up (cross your fingers) which is why I decided to run the hardware test myself.
I ran the Hardware test by Holding down ALT (Option) + "D" and it showed no hardware failure. Is this the same extended test they perfom at the store? I don't know...
On 11/18/2013 when I picked up the laptop thay told me that one of the memory's was not giving a proper reading and I would need to replace the entire logic board? So far I have not experienced any problems so I don't know why I was told to change the logic board....
All I can say is at this point is I am done dealing with this machine. Just going to sell it and move forward...
Be carefull and don't take the word of these Genisu's - do some reasearch yourself before you agree to thier repairs.. hopefully you guy's won't have any problems...
    Good luck and Happy Holiday's!

  • If I don't have apple care, and I bought my iPhone off somebody else, would Apple still replace my iPhone 5? my lock button and home button have been glitching

my phone has been working fabulously and I bought it off somebody else in next to new condition. however, lately the phone button and lock button haven't been working properly. the phone also heats up and gets quite hot when it's charging sometimes. would Apple replace my phone for free ?

If it is still under warranty and the issue is the result of manufacturer defect, Apple will replace it at no cost.
If the device is not under warranty or the issue is the result of damage, Apple will offer and Out of Warranty Replacement.
Warranty has nothing to do with the person presenting the device, it is entirely determined by the device.  Warranty is 1 year from the date of original sale.

  • Will apple still replace my iphone 4 if it has been opened?

I got my iphone last august and it worked fine until my lock button broke. My phone was covered under warranty so apple replaced it. Lo and behold, my lock button broke once again this past week. I went to a verizon store to see if they could replace it again since I thought it was still under warranty. Turns out they told me my phone was no longer under warranty. I asked if they could check again because I got my phone last august and they said they were sure it was out of warranty and there was nothing they could do. The nearest apple store is about 45 minutes away from my house, and since I thought the information verizon gave me was correct I didn't drive all the way to the apple store to hear the same answer. So I went to a third party repair shop. The guy opened my phone up and looked at my lock button and said the procedure would be complicated to fix and that it would be very expensive so I decided not to have anything done and he put my phone back together. I got home and got onto the apple support website to see where I could go from here since I don't want a broken phone for another year. I chatted with a representative in the chat room thing. I gave him my phone's serial and MEID number and he said my phone was still under warranty! I was shocked because the person at Verizon told me I wasn't under warranty and there was nothing that could be done. The apple guy told me that I could get my phone replaced and all I had to do was go to the apple store and swap it out for a new one. My question is, will by warranty be voided since I went to a third party repair shop? My phone wasn't fixed the guy just looked at it to see what the problem was and then put it back together. I know that once you do that your warranty is voided, but I feel like I am in a special circumstance since I did it thinking I was out of warranty since that's what I was told at Verizon. What should I do?

Nobody here can tell you what Apple will do as we don't work for them. Make a Genius Bar appointment at the Apple Store and see what they say. If they say no you have only lost your time and some gas but you will no for sure.
Sorry, this should have been to the OP.

  • Can apple still replace my iphone for free??

My iphone 4 is under warranty and one of the buttons on the side to lower the volume doesn't work, it's just stiff and therefore i can not press it, my iphone speakers doesn't work either, whenever I put it on loud speaker no sound can be picked up and no one can hear me, even whenever I make videos, the sound is never picked up, my iphone front screen colour has also changed as well, when I originally got it from t-mobile it was white but now it is yellow and looks dirty I'm hoping that they can replace it for me BUT there is one problem, on the front screen of the iphone I have 2 slight cracks and the back has came off (don't ask how or why but somehow it just became loose and came off lol O_o) because the iphone back was loose and came of, it is now completely cracked
-______________- do you still think that apple will be able to replace it for me for free even though my back completely came off, is cracked and i have the cracks on the front as well? P.s I have never dropped it in water before

Not for free. Physical damage voids the warranty. There is no way you can replace the part without Apple knowing the phone has been opened, which voids the warranty.
An out of warranty replacement is US$149 for an iPhone 4. Just pony up the $$ and deal with it.

  • Will the Apple Stire replace my iphone 5s?

I recently purchased a gold iphone 5s back in December and it has had problems ever since I first bought it. It force restarts and force closes Safari in the middle of it loading web pages. I finally broke down yesterday and did a factory reset, but that has done nothing to solve the issue. My only question is, will Apple replace my phone based off of what I tell them? Because the problem isn't something that happens constantly (maybe once or twice a day) and it might not happen while I'm in the store for them to witness it. Is there some kind if test they can run to prove there is a problem with the phone? I had the iphone 5 before this, and has never had any issues with it so I'm pretty shocked my 5s is so messed up.

First, let me apologize to OP for not differentiating between purchases made from Verizon and purchases made directly from Apple.  I bought mine from Apple, not Verizon.
In early December, I bought my wife a new iPhone 5s from the online Apple store.  Before buying, I wanted to make sure that it would be returnable if she didn't like it.  (Note that she opens her Christmas presents on Dec. 25, so the phone would normally have been beyond the 14-day return period before she even opened the package.)
I was told by two different Apple customer service reps that there would be no problem.  They said that anyone (I'm assuming only in the US, not worldwide) who bought an iPhone during the holiday season would have until January 9 to return the phone, undamaged, to Apple for a full refund, no questions asked.  They also said that this applied even to folks who bought the phone in November.  My wife loved the phone, so we didn't have to worry about returning it.
As an aside, I bought her a 4th-generation iPod touch 2 years ago and was told exactly the same thing: that during the holiday season, Apple extends the full-refund policy until after the first of the year.
Now you know what Dan was talking about (and note that I bought my phone through Apple, not Verizon).  Did they tell you something different when you asked about their return policy during the holidays?
