AppleCare and very faulty MBP. Experiences?

Well, I bought my MBP around 3 months ago, and has been infested with all sorts of trouble...
-Runs incredibly hot. In all fairness, I am a graphic designer, and use a lot of processor intensive apps, so that could be a factor, but still, there's something just wrong about a "portable computer" that scalds your legs just for using Photoshop.
-It has the, now infamous, moo.
-It has the, now unbearable, whine.
-My battery is totally dead. One day it was reporting that my remaining charge was 32 hours and 34 minutes, and the next day it just died on me. Won't charge, won't show up on Mac OS (the little X icon on the Finder). Totally dead.
-When I bought it, my screen had NO dead pixels whatsoever, then one day one dead pixel showed up, then 2, then 3, now it was up to 4 or 5, I can't really tell. I am aware about the "dead pixel policy" but having no dead pixels on the day of purchase, and then gradually seeing 4 or 5 just worries me.
Needless to say I am pushing to have this machine replaced, but Apple has just said "We'll look at it, and we'll decide if a replacement is due or not".
I don't know about you, but I spent a little over 2000 Dlls on a machine and, call me crazy, but I expected it to work... now I have to wait for the manufacturer to decide if the product I paid good money for is defective or not. Hint: Yes.
I dropped it off today at an authorized service shop, and will wait for the resolution...
What do you think? Do you think a replacement is in order?
Have any of you experienced something similar?

Hi, your battery is just one out of many (all?) first few week MBP's batteries being bad. I got mine replaced instantaneously (think it came one day after I called in). Don't know why Apple never officially withdrew them.
For the dead pixels, I recommend trying to massage them out (I'm not kidding). They may just be stuck pixels, not dead ones. I had this too after a few weeks. Use a dry cloth (I just took my cotton t-shirt) and massage over the pixels for a while. Let us know if it worked.
The moo is a fan that goes on and off apparently keeping the MBP around the maximum temperature. A software update could fix this by introducing some buffer interval so that t doesn't go on and off so quickly. Hopefully Apple will do this. I only get this when it's not sitting on a flat surface (such as carpet, my lap), indicating that convection is hindered.
The whine...I recommend QuietMBP. Works very well on mine. The root of this problem is a the processors being put into a low voltage state to save energy. Not really a bug. I know Windows doesn't have the whine and longer battery life, but it's a completely different OS.
Good luck.

  • One year old tomorrow and very unwell MBP

    Hi
I have had many problems with my MBP- it's officially 1 year old tomorrow and doesn't seem to be happy about it!
I have so far had the following replaced:
    Logic board
    Fan
    Outer side casing
    Keyboard
2 x batteries ( first swelled up 2nd just died)
My optical drive has stopped uploading audio discs- currently in communication with applecare on that one- They insisted I re instal l OSX- which I've done, do a hardware test- also done and I'm still having the problems. 1 issue- hoping they take it in soon and replace it!!
MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-857 - this is the drive I have and I know from other posts it has known issues!
Anyway now there seems to be a problem with the sound on my MBP
It started my making a strange crackling noise on opening some programs-
Now the sound in general ( Itunes, web pages, alerts) is distorted and echos.
Any ideas what could be causing this?
Am getting seriously frustrated as I love my MBP but it's just problem after problem.
Oh before you ask- yes I have bought applecare- was frightened not to with all my recent problems!
    Do I just have a bad MBP ? week 9 I think
    Thanks
    E

The optical media standards are very much astray in this world. Some drives are very sensitive to the quality of the media you put in them. Some will get off balance if you use many sticky labels on disks, or a sticky label could get in on the drive and cause havoc. If you write on the disk label side, it could interfere with the ability of the disk to be read. If you have a brand new retail operating system disk, or a regular purchased (not rented, not preowned) commercial movie DVD, that is the correct region for your country that wont' play, then that's a good indication there is a hardware problem if this issue occurs immediately after an erase and install, and no peripherals are attached to the MacBook Pro. Start adding peripherals, software, or anything else that is third party, or new documents that could present data corruption issues, and you might be talking simply a data corruption issue with the driver, the mounting software, or something else on the machine. A vanilla machine is the only one you can tell with any certainty there is a hardware issue, short of some hardware test registering that issue. So backup your data at least twice, and erase and install, and see if the issues with the drive persist.
As for the sound issues, those might be fixed with a reset of the PRAM, or
changing the audio midi settings of the Audio Midi Setup application. That's covered in these two articles:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=2238
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300832
We can't question Apple's policy here. Read the Terms of Use on the right, especially this passage:
    "2. Submissions
Search or browse for existing answers before you ask a question. Someone else may have asked your question — it may save you some time.
Stay on topic. Apple's discussion forums are here to help people use Apple products and technologies more effectively. Unless otherwise noted, don't add Submissions about nontechnical topics, including:
That Apple rumor you saw on another website.
Discussions of Apple policies or procedures.
    Speculations/rumors about unannounced products.
The status of your 1973 MG Midget restoration."
Basically my recommendation is to use process of elimination to make absolutely sure there is nothing software that could be causing the issue.

  • Time to send in the old MBP or just buy applecare and pray?

    Hello All,
Last week I sold my life (my 2x 1.8Ghz Powermac and 1.33 14" ibook) for a Macbook Pro. I purchased a refurbished MBP 2.0 Ghz and i was so excited, but now, I have the whine (which i fixed using QuietMBP a nice program. and I keep getting these painful shocks on my forearm while I am using it (while its plugged in). I still can return it but I dont know what to do!?! I still have over a month of school left and need a computer. Should I just sent this beast in or buy applecare and wait?

If you need a computer and cannot get hold of another one if you send the MBP in then I guess you have to hold on to your purchase in order to complete your school work.
If you feel that you can live with the workarounds to the whine then you may as well keep the machine and enjoy all the other great features that work well.
Once you keep the machine and register it with Applecare then it's more or less "yours for life" unless you try to sell it later on, though I'm not sure if these early MBPs will fetch a good price down the road if later revisions come out without these (or other major) problems (think: the hot revision A of the Powerbook 12").
So, the question really is: is your current MBP something you are either prepared to live with and enjoy for a long time or maybe take a hit on during re-sale later on? Or would you sleep better at nights having returned it, making do with a temporary machine and waiting for something better to come along?
Another thought: since nobody has officially said that the CPU whine is a recognized problem yet, it may be something that is recognized and fixed down the line, but the possibility also exists that it never will get fixed, except in the next revision of the product. So, I wouldn't count on a fix at this stage.

  • My MBP experience

I bought a MBP about 2 weeks ago after being a Windows user for many years. I have been building my own PCs for almost 10 years and my main use of them is for video editing. For the benefit of those in a similar situation, I'd like to share my experiences so far.
The hardware arrived in 9 days from order and it was in perfect condition. It came from Shaghai!
I bought 2 x 2 gig ram modules from Crucial and maxed the ram to 4 gigs myself and had no problems.
I was able to set up my mail and wireless broadband very easily with the computer doing most of the work invisibly.
I installed the apps that I use (FCPS2 and Master Collection CS3 and Office 2004)without any problems or crashes.
I downloaded all the software updates for the Mac and the apps I installed and except for asking my password, the computer did it all pretty much invisibly and without problems.
I was advised to run repair disk permissions regularly before and after changes, which I did, and never had any problems.
Is it possible to overdo using repair permissions? Coming from Windows, I am very experienced with regular maintenance routines like defrags deleting temp files, etc., and although my Windows systems always ran well, I was used to periodic freezes and crashes but I knew how to fix them or avoid them.
I added two external drives, one for video on the firewire 800 and another for cloning the completed setup in case of serious errors later on on the firewire 400. I used Superduper to make the bootable clone image and it all worked flawlessly. My only mistake was that I didn't know which key is the option key and I couldn't get the computer to boot up so that it offered me the choice of which startup disk to use. I kept holding down the command key instead, but once I resolved this ignorance on my part it all works perfectly.
I can connect a dv camcorder or a dv vcr to my firewire port and capture video to the external drive on the firewire 800 port from either FCP or Premiere Pro CS3 perfectly.
In all, my experience has been delightful and much more stable than when running my Windows PCs.
My only negative comment is that I don't like having to wait for Apple to offer particular hardware options. I liked being able to buy and build exactly what I wanted in my PCs.
My MBP experience has been so nice that I am now considering getting a Mac Pro but I am having to wait until Apple decides to update its current models and I find this frustrating. On the PC side I could easily build myself a 4 or 8 core system with the motherboard, graphics and drives that I want now rather than waiting around for Apple. I did put one together on paper recently to compare prices with the current Mac Pro specs and it came out a bit cheaper on the PC side, but not much. There are a lot of inexpensive PCs available but their specs are not comparable to those on a Mac Pro.
Another thing that I haven't dealt with yet is setting up the built in webcam for video conferencing with friends around the world. I am still looking into the best approach to it. I used to use Yahoo Messenger on my PCs but I don't know if it is compatible with Macs. If I get a Mac Pro, I hope to use my current Logitech webcam and the Maccam drivers to also have a webcam on that system. And I want to be able to connect my midi keyboard to the Mac Pro to create music but it's not a USB so I need to investigate what I can do.
For those wondering about going to the Mac platform, I can say that the whole experience has been very smooth and painless and I would recommend it. Learning Mac OS is taking a little time but it's an enjoyable experience too.

I'm just getting started with the MBP and I haven't done any dvd rendering yet. I did a small video project and exported a QT mov and printed back to the DV tape very easily and the quality was maintained without getting into any special settings or technical problems using FCP.
I also installed the OnLocation software that comes with some CS3 production bundles on my PC (it's not yet a Mac software)and I found it very useful for my animation work. It creates avi files and I was able to produce a little test animation and then bring it into my CS2 Premiere Pro on my PC and add sounds and transitions, etc. The workflow is incredibly better than the old route of photographing thousands of stills, batch processing in Photoshop, importing into Premiere or FCP and then rendering sequences to create single files that could be edited comfortably. This thing captures single frames directly from a camcorder attached to the computer and saves them as a single avi file right on the hard disk ready to use in editing. It also allows you to fine tune the visual quality of the video and audio in real time which is useful for other situations apart from animation. I am really looking forward to getting a Mac Pro so that I can install Win XP on its own drive and have access to this and other programs that I can't use on the Mac OS.
If OnLocation gets ported to the Mac, it's going to make a lot of Mac people very happy.

  • Connecting unknown, unfamiliar projectors and TVs to MBP

Connecting unknown, unfamiliar projectors and TVs to MBP
    Hi:
I am going on a business trip to Europe and will be connecting my MBP to unknown projectors and/or TVs.
Which cables should I take for the "just in case" scenario?
    Thanks for your help.

PS—Can one edit one's posts around here?

This forum is for the Mac Pro, the desktop, no the MacBook Pro, the laptop. You might have better luck in that forum.
That being said, I would make sure you have a DVI cable, a VGA cable, and the DVI->VGA adaptor that came with the MBP. I personally would also bring/buy the DVI->Video adaptor (P/N: M9267G/A) along with a s-video cable and composite video cable (standard RCA cable, usually yellow) just in case. Also, I would test all your cables before you go to make sure they work. Nothing is worse than getting there and then realizing that you went through all the trouble to lug around a cable and then find out it is faulty.
Generally any new projector will allow either a DVI or VGA connector, with DVI being the preferred choice. But there are still some old projectors out there that only accept s-video or composite or maybe their other inputs don't quite work right. Also, you might be forced to use a TV if you get there and find that the projector is broken or something and those other connections will come in very handy.
Probably a bit overkill. But I like to be prepared, especially if I'm going all the way to Europe to give a presentation. The extra cost/time is negligable compared to not having what you need.

  • Applecare and used MacBooks

Can I buy a Macbook used and still purchase Applecare for it? I know Applecare can be transferred to a new owner, but does the original owner need to purchase it or can the second (or third, etc...) owner purchase it as well? Looking to buy one used off eBay and would appreciate quick feedback. Thanks!

I apologize, but I just want to be sure. If I buy a Macbook Pro from someone off e-bay...
    a) If it's within the year, am I covered without the original recept?
    b) Can I buy AppleCare and have it honored now that I'm the new owner?
I hope so. I would be the owner, not someone else.
If you have had experience buying a MBP off someone, and had it covered, I would feel better...
    Thanks!

  • IPhone 4 and AT&T shopping experience

My iPhone 4 and AT&T shopping experience
Some of you will most likely think I am crazy but I was up on Monday night thinking about purchasing my new iPhone 4. Sometimes I get excited over the little things in life but I really enjoy my iPhone. I was scrolling all the news sites, reading all the articles about the new iPhone 4 and iOS 4. I ended up going to bed sometime around 2:00 a.m.
Tuesday started off with a text from my boss who is also a iPhone fan. He was telling me at 7:30 a.m. that he had completed his iPhone purchase and that the AT&T system was very slow. He also told me that he decided to have the phone shipped to his house. At this point I am mad because my boss ordered his iPhone before me. I knew I should have gone over the night before and disconnected his internet.
I started my iPhone purchasing adventure around 9:00 a.m. only to find out that AT&T was down. I tried the Apple website and was shot down. I am not sure the exact time but about 1 ½ hours later AT&T was up and running again. I was getting excited again. I logged in and selected my new iPhone and was proceeding to check out when I got an error message. AT&T website was telling me I couldn’t ship my new iPhone to a PO Box and that I needed to update my address before I could proceed with my order. After thing for a long time about what to do next. I decided that going down to the AT&T store was my best choice.
That drive as fast. The local AT&T store is not too far away. I walk in the door and was greeting by a young lady that put my name on the list. To my surprise I only waited about 10 minutes to see someone. I told the man that I was here to purchase two iPhone 4 today. One for me and one for a friend. I was surprising my friend with a new iPhone. The Man told me he would need to do the purchases separately. About 20 minutes later I walked out the door with two receipts for my two new iPhones. I was very excited. This was the first time I saved up the money and was able to pre-order my iPhone. I had planned for the last 4 months and I was going to be like all the other crazy people out there.
I called all my iPhone friends and asked them if they got there order in. I even encouraged a few to get the new iPhone explaining to them how awesome the new camera feature was. For me, I was buying the iPhone for the camera. It is amazing how may picture and videos I take now. All of them on my iPhone. The new camera will be awesome.
Fathers day was the day. This will be one of those fathers day I wont forget for a long time. I was at home, the kids were swimming and I was checking my email. I got 2 emails from AT&T. Both told me that my orders were canceled and I needed to contact AT&T for further assistance. At this point I almost fell out of my chair. After composing myself, I proceeded to call AT&T in hopes that I could get this issue resolved. I was on the phone for a very long time. The Lady I spoke to told me that there was nothing she could do. She told me my order was canceled because I used a DEBIT card to do my preorder. I was very frustrated at this point because no one told me I couldn’t use a DEBIT card. She called the store and and the store wasn’t very helpful. The store told her that everyone was told they required a Standard Credit Card for all preorders. You know, the ones that charge you interest and that you can never seem to pay off. Besides that fact that I don’t have any Credit cards, because I was a good by and got rid of them all 15 years ago. I used the only cards I have and own, my DEBIT card. I have a two checking accounts and I put my iPhone money in the second account so that the money would be there for the entire process. My phone call was over and I was told to take up the issue with the store manager. She told me there was nothing she could do for me. Very frustrated at this point. I asked to speak to a supervisor. A few minutes later I was transfer to a supervisor, I explained my issue and he told me there was nothing he could do.
At this point my fathers day was ruined and my iPhone 4 dreams were over. The only thing I could do was start the entire process over or call the store manager on Monday.
On Monday afternoon I called the local AT&T store (Turlock, CA). I asked to speak to the store manager (Mathew). I told him my story and he proceeded to look up my order. He again, reassured me that he was telling all his employees every ten minutes that they are not taking DEBIT cards. After explaining to him that his efforts seemed to have failed because I was able to purchase not one but two iPhones using my DEBIT card. I also explained to him that the failure in the process was his store. His store was the reason my order was canceled and I needed him to do something about it. The more I talked to him the more I felt he didn’t care about my issues. He was coming a crossed as very cold and had no solutions for me. The more I prodded him the less and less he cared. Finally, he told me he would make a few phone calls and would see what he could do for me. He told me he would call me back on Wednesday.
At this point, I think I will FRAME my two receipts and hang them on the wall so I can be reminded everyday how AT&T don’t care about its customers. I will also print my two cancelation letters and include them in the frame. It is sad how the large corporations don’t seem to care anymore about the individual. They only seems to are about the 600,000 iPhones that were sold that day.
At this point I am very sad and upset. It is amazing how I planned for the last Four months to purchase my phone on preorder day so that I could be like all the other crazy iPhone fans out there and get my new phone on the first day. I am starting to realized that there is not going to be an iPhone for me on Thursday.
Today is Wednesday and I am dreaming that the local AT&T (Turlock, CA) manager will give me a call with good news. I was hoping he would tell me that he was going to set a phone aside for me because of the horrible experience I have had so far. Most of the day has come and gone. So I picked up the phone about 2:00 pm and call the AT&T store, I asked to speak to Mathew. He proceeded to tell me that there was nothing he could do for me. Again, I was getting the feeling that he really didn’t care about my issues and concerns. I have hit a brick wall and my day was going down hill. I am surprised how my emotions were getting the best of me. I was surprised how not getting my iPhone would affect me. Come on, this is only a phone.
My day just got worse. My two friends just sent me a test message saying they just got there iPhones in the mail. Come on, it is only Wednesday and they already have them. Now they are sending me all sorts of messages about how cool the new iPhone is and how excellent the new camera works. Bah humbug, I didn’t respond to any of them. I was so completely upset at this point. Again, I was amazed as to how much this whole ordeal has upset me.
One last try, I called the AT&T customer service. The lady was very nice to me and told me that she would help me but I know it wasn’t going to end well. In the end on Wednesday afternoon, I was shot down again. I decided it was time to move on or find something else to do. So I went to the movies and watched “The Karate Kid”. After the movie was over, I went home and went to bed. I think I ended sleeping for 12 hours before I got up on Thursday for work. Sometime during my evening, I figured I would try to plan another order for a new iPhone. Even though I am ****** at AT&T, I still want an iPhone. To my amazement, they wont let me, they are experience technically difficulties.
Thursday morning. Today is the big iPhone launch. Normally every morning I turn the TV on and watch the news in the morning while I get ready for work. Today, no TV. I didn’t want to hear about all the new iPhone excitement. I am having a very bitter day.
I am having a very bitter day but I love Apple products. After getting to work, I took a few minutes to try and preorder my phone again. And again, AT&T was broken. When started this process on June 15. I had huge hopes and expectations to get my new iPhone on June 24. Today is the 24 and I will be very luck if I can get my new iPhone by July 15. I am not sure when or if I will bother to purchase a new iPhone. I am not sure if I even care anymore.
I am still ****** and will be ****** for a long time to come. AT&T has shown its true side again. I am only one person and AT&T has millions of customers. Sometime you need to remember the small people out there.

    update...
I am not one to give up. So I called AT&T today. Now they are telling me they canceled my order because they were unable to fulfill my order. Basically, AT&T told me they sold out so they canceled my order so I can proceed to reorder again. It took them 4 days to realize this. I will be lucky if I get a new phone by Christmas. I am sure they will find a way to cancel my order again.
Again, I argued, how is this my fault. I placed my order at the store around 11 a.m. Pacific time. My friend ordered his phone online sometime after me. He got his but my order was canceled. AT&T tried to explain to me that they sold over 600,000 phones, almost 500 per minute during there peak. Again, I asked, how this was my fault.
I can understand over selling the phone. It is a great product. There is no reason to cancel my order. You adjust my order and tell me you will let me know when my phone will be in. I would have been mad that my phone was going to be late but I would have survived. At least I would be getting one.
At this point, I have no order and AT&T or Apple website will allow me to order one. I just want to get in the QUEUE for one.
    Frustrated.

  • Share Cinema Display and peripherals with MBP and PC

Share Cinema Display and peripherals with MBP and PC
I am about to be forced to use a business network connected PC in my office, but I will continue to bring my personal MacBook Pro to work for my personal e-mail, calendar, internet, etc. (it will be connected to a seperate open DSL network). I am thinking about getting an Apple Cinema display and trying to use this one display for both computers. I would like a way to "switch back and forth" between the two systems, all the while using the same mouse, keyboard, printer and Cinema display.
Does anyone have any experience setting up what I am wanting to do?
Also, how does connecting an external display effect a MBP? Can you close the screen on the MBP, turning off the MBP's display but keeping the computer running? I'd like to be able to tuck the MBP out of the way to save deskspace but still be using it via the Cinema display and peripherals...
    Thanks so much!

You can use synergy (link: http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/) to link the mouse and keyboard across the two platforms.
If you want to use only one display, you'll need a KVM switch.
You can run the MBP either with it's own screen open, or shut it and use only the external screen.
    Hopefully this helps a little...

  • If I were to upgrade my RAM would Applecare still cover my MBP?

I have a Mid 2012 13" MacBook Pro (non-retina) with 2.9 GHz i7 processor. I had it upgraded as far as Apple would when I bought it, but I'm finding that for my motion graphics, I need more RAM. Would Applecare still cover my MBP if I upgraded it to 16GB of RAM?

Yes provided nothing was damaged during the install and the new RAM is not covered, so you should keep the factory RAM to switch back in case of a warranty call.
Your problem is your using the wrong machine for the job. More RAM isn't going to make much of a difference in your graphics case as that machine only has poor integrated CPU graphics, not the more powerful dedicated graphics on the 15" and up.
    Why is my computer slow?
    http://www.cbscores.com/index.php?sort=ogl&order=desc

What the more RAM will allow you yo do is run more programs at the same time and/or larger files with beter performance, will make little difference on the graphics.

  • Applecare and Macbook

Hey, so I purchased the apple care for my computer and I had a question that I had in mind..
When I bought an ipod nano around 3 years ago, I had it under applecare and it broke about 1 year and a half after, and what they did for me was "upgrade" me to the newest one they had with the same gigabites for free. I'm now wondering if in lets say... 2 and a half years, if my computer breaks (God forbid), if I could "upgrade" to a newer model of the same computer? I'm guessing apple will have two more WWDCS and macworlds by then.. I'm also wondering if they weren't going to upgrade it for free, if I could pay a couple hundred dollars to upgrade? Thanks so much!!

AppleCare cannot be renewed. The maximum you can get under AppleCare is 3 years (1 complimentary year and 2 AppleCare years. As far as I know, they do not offer loaner machines during repair.
For additional coverage, you can check your home insurance company. Often they have options in case of damage, theft or other loss. There may also be other companies out there you can buy coverage from, but I've not heard/used any.
If you are under warranty and your repair is covered under your agreement terms, then at Apple's discretion, they can repair or replace that computer. If they choose to replace it, and your model is no longer made, they will give you a comparable one of like value, and that can include new models, depending on how old yours is.
Now, I'm not sure if you get a refurb model, but if you have AppleCare left on your old machine, it will transfer to your new machine, Apple would update your agreement.
AppleCare is a really great plain. It can seem a bit pricey at first, especially for MBP, but I've never been turned away by Apple and they never said they won't fix it because... Every Mac I own I never go without AppleCare. Also, I always sell my Macs about 3 months before AppleCare expires, so the new owner will get a machine covered for that time and know that if anything "goes" they can have it repaired free of charge.
If you resell your machine w/AppleCare within say 2 years of purchase, depending on how good a condition you kept it, the resale value is quite good, certainly much better than any other PC out there. PCs depreciate at a much faster rate than Macs.

  • My fan makes loud and very strange noises.

    Hi again,
My fan makes loud and very strange noises. Is there any cure for that?
    Thank you!
    Markus

Hmm... that is strange. There are a couple reasons that I can think of.
First, go to System Preferences -> Energy Saver -> Processor Performance. See what its set to. If it is currently set to Highest, your fan could be going more often. Turn it down to Reduced or Automatic. Note if there is any difference.
Secondly, are you all up to date on software updates? The last step was to see if it was a software issue. If it isn't, then you probably have a defective fan. AppleCare?
Now, you would open your PowerBook. Look in the Apple docs (Support - Manuals) to find how to do it for yourself, or take it to a shop or Apple Store and have them do it. Safest option.
Look at your fan. Has it come free of the anchor and is hitting against the wall or fan surround?
Lastly, try keeping the PowerBook in a open, ventilated area. The fan will power up less if the computer stays cooler. For a possibly irritating but possibly helpful option, purchase a product that lifts the PowerBook off your lap or desk. I think Rain Design makes a good one.
    Good luck!

  • Short Battery Life and Very Slow Data on 4S

Short Battery Life and Very Slow Data on 4S,
anyone else noticing the slow speed of data on this phone?

Yes, I measure my slow data on Sprint in kpbs, not Mpbs. Like standard is download maybe 250kpbs, upload 100kpbs (that's 0.25 Mbps and 0.1 Mbps). On the same tower my buddy who has an AT&T iPhone 4 shows 2.5Mbps download and 1.5Mbps upload (that's 2500kbps and 1500kpbs), a LOT faster. Sprint has not been much help.

Hi,  from the last two days my iphone( iphone 4 with ios 5) have very slow to open the apps and very slow when i check the notification window , it taking too much time to open when i tap to down . help me to resolve the issue.

    The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:
    Restart... Reset... Restore...
    iPhone Reset

Try this First... You will Not Lose Any Data...
    Turn the Phone Off...
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear and then Disappear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
    Turn the Phone On...
If that does not help... See Here:

  • When I try to import pictures of my daughter, what gets imported is about 50 pictures of world flags, then masks.  I can't import any pictures now.  I am on MacBook Pro.  I called Applecare and honestly got 'gee I don't know' for an answer.

I can't import pictures into iPhoto.  (f I can right click and there is a choice to put in iPhoto that works fine) .  No matter what happens, even when I download them first, all that imports is a mass of pictures of flags and masks, and they are the only things that are imported, no matter what picture I try to import into my librarly.  Can anyone help me with this?  I live in a small down 5 hours from an apple store so I can't just take it in and get somene to look at it.

Elaine.  What are you trying to import from?  Are you inserting a camera memory card in the slot on the side of your mac? Are you connecting your camera to the mac through a USB cable? It sounds like you can see your pictures, where do you see them, on the memory card that you open on your desktop, or are you using software that came with your camera?

  • When ordering enlarged photos from iPhoto, must I purchase them one at a time and pay a shipping fee for each and very one of them.  Sort of a ripoff but I can't figure how to purchase many and pay one shipping fee.

You may have better luck posting in the iPhoto forum if no one on this forum is able to assist. I'm sure you are doing something wrong though.
