AppleScript Extension Logo Blank?

Hello, all. I have a question.
My OS 9.2.2 system functions all right, but I simply have an issue sending email in Netscape 7.02. I have 4 email accounts set up in the Email client. All of the other email accounts send/receive mail fine, but I have one email account that any time I try sending an email, Netscape hangs on "sending message" for ever and ever. The application still is responsive, but it simply will not send email. It will only send if I choose a different account to send from in the message composition window. I know my outgoing settings are correct. It's a school email account, and I know it's sent email before....
Anyway, a colleague of mine saw the issue, and suspected an issue with AppleScript. He told me that if AppleScript was corrupt, then that may very well cause an issue. I opened my Macintosh HD:System Folder:Extensions, and LO and behold, AppleScript is there, but the logo looks like the shape of a puzzle piece, that's blank. There is no logo inside the puzzle piece at all. I was told by my colleague that this was a sign of trouble with AppleScript, and I should trash the extension and reinstall it.
I booted to no extensions, and trashed the AppleScript extension.
I then found the apple article for downloading AppleScript 1.8.3, and downloaded, and re-installed it.
However, the AppleScript logo is still blank.
Which begs the question -- is the AppleScript logo supposed to look like a grey, blank puzzle piece, or is it supposed to have a logo? If it's supposed to have a logo, how the heck do you fix this issue? Am I chasing a rabbit here?
FYI I'm using an iBook G3 300 MHz Blueberry model, OS 9.2.2, 576 MB of Ram, 80 GB Hard Drive.
OS X 10.4.11 is installed, but I usually boot to 9.2.2.

It is possible that this whole issue is just cosmetic. Perhaps you could run a different test to see if AppleScript is functioning or broken.
The fundamental problem of your school email sender not working may be caused by something completely different. For example, it may be that your school Mail Server deliberately precludes the sending of emails using its email sender unless you are connected locally -- perhaps to avoid having the email sender compromised and taken over by spammers.
For me, I am satisfied using one single email sender for all replies, regardless of which account the original email came in on. It tends to get users responding to my most reliable email address.

Dreamweaver Adobe BC Extension showing blank window

I´ve had this problem with Dreamweaver´s Adobe BC extension a year and a haft now:
Is simply blank. The window where is supposed to show the USERNAME + PASSWORD rectangles to write them down.
I tried everything in all forums: install/uninstall AdobeBC Extension and DW CS5.5, update extension etc.. And Nothing happnes.
At first, DW was working ok with the extension (1 and a haft year ago, when I first installed DW) And suddenly, it just stop working and showing just a blank space.
If u have any suggestions, please let me know. I´m tired and frustated with this problem.

Why is My Safari Extensions Tab Blank?

Hi Everyone!
I wanted to edit some settings on an extension I installed a looong time ago, but I can't seem to do that without the extensions showing up in the preferences tab. (Please see attached photo of my Safari Preferences box.) I tried restarting Safari, restarting my Mac, and deleting the extensions in the Library folder then reinstalling them. So, I did all I could think of and I tried looking for other help online. Everyone made the exact same suggestions. So, I would really appreciate any help anyone can offer me with this problem. Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

My Safari Extensions preference page is blank. How do I resolve it? (Safari 5.1.2 on Lion 10.7.2)

I found my extensions window blank back when I used Snow Leopard. I thought Lion and new updates will eventually solve it. But it is still there. I tried everything I can. I tried downloading Safari 5.1.2 and reinstalling it. It didn't work. Then I uninstaled safari using CleanMyMac and then tried installing it from scratch. It didn't work. When I googled I found that deleting some plist file resolves the problem on some older version of Safari. But I cannot locate that plist file on Lion. How can I get back my extensions preference page?

Delete the following items:
/Library/Application Support/SIMBL
/Library/LaunchAgents/net.culater.SIMBL.Agent.plist
/Library/ScriptingAdditions/SIMBL.osax
Log out and log back in.
Make sure you never reinstall SIMBL, as it’s one of the worst articles of crapware on the Mac platform. It’s likely to come bundled with some other modfication that depends on it. If you want trouble-free computing, avoid software that makes miraculous changes to other software, especially built-in applications. The only real exception to that rule is Safari extensions, which are mostly safe, and are easy to get rid of when they don’t work. SIMBL and its dependents are not Safari extensions.

Extensions not showing in photoshop (2014)

I have installed Photoshop cc(2014), but 'extensions' is blanked out. Still working in cc and all of my addons are visible in extension manager cc. How do I get it to work?.
My next question is about Bridge. In Bridge I have the option on right clicking an image to open it with photoshop cc or photoshop cc(2014). How do I make photoshop cc(2014) the default? Do I have to manually change all the file associations in preferences?

PS CC 2014 problem: How to migrate filters and extensions? (win7 x64)

Just installed 2014 (win 7 x64).
But none of my filter (Nik, etc) are showing up? How can I point PS 2014 to my old filter plug-in golder? I looked in prefs? Also I need to point 2014 to my extensions primarily my Paper textures extension.
I would think the 2014 would use the regular CCs filters ???

Update: I used a symbolic link to connect my PS CC old version plugin folder to the 2014 plugin folder. That worked, but I'm not showing my Paper Texture extension. I did the same symbolic link but EXTENSIONS are blank.
Any ideas?

Extensions in safari not loading. They've disappeared.

When I open the Preferences and under Extensions its blank. However, they're still in the Safari's library folder. I can still manually add them again but this is the second time I've had this happen. Anyone getting similiar problems? I'd like to know what might be conflicying with Safari so I can fix it.

So...I got it to work. I was logged out of my iGoogle page ( I also have a google account). When I went and logged myself into google, then went back to school's website, the google doc appeared in the blank white space. I find this interesting and told the school's tech support, because if a student / family doesn't have a google account, does that mean safari won't load up a google doc that it is trying to import? If so, they will have to tell families who want to use all the features to sign up with google? I'm just not sure if I am right here, so some confirmation would be great.

Why do unexpected characters show up in the gmail e-mails I compose?

I am using Firefox 3.6.24. I had upgraded to a later version, but it put so much stuff at the bottom of my netbook screen that I rolled it back to 3.6.
When I compose an e-mail in gmail, unwanted characters insert themselves into the body of my e-mail. In html, it looks like a free-floating "1" (without quotes) and a free-floating "2". When I change to plain text, it looks like the beginning of a list with "1" on one line and "2" on the next line. It's as if there's a template or signature that inserts itself. I just now downloaded the extension for Blank Canvas Signatures for Gmail, in an effort to fix the problem, but I didn't have it when the problem came up, so Blank Canvas Signatures isn't the issue.
This doesn't happen when I use Explorer nor does it happen when I compose an e-mail on my iPhone.
How did these characters get there and how do I get rid of them?

How do I create an AppleDouble "dot-underscore" file from the command line?

We're going through a process of migrating NetWare shares to Windows shares (without File Services for Macintosh) where I work. One concern is that the NetWare shares are shared as AFP volumes to the Macs. All the finder info and metadata for the files is thus stored natively and invisible to all the servers involved in the migration. If the Novel migrator or robocopy copy the files, resource forks and metadata are lost.
The procedure I've provided the migration team involves making a UFS disk image, identifying files on the NetWare share that have Mac resource forks or metadata, copying the files from NetWare to the image one-by-one (whereby the OS creates the AppleDouble dot-underscore files), and then copying the dot-underscore files back to the NetWare share so that when either migration tool is used, the files correctly appear on the Windows shares in AppleDouble form with forks and metadata intact. This works reliably enough, but it involves a HUGE amount of network activity, and there's issues with making sure that the permissions are correct in the process.
Is there a way to directly produce the AppleDouble dot-underscore file from a file on an AFP share. Things like SplitForks, RezWhack, etc. don't work on shares. I cannot find any command-line utility, AppleScript extension, Automator action, etc. to do it.

Thank you. I am aware of that, cpio as well. The problem is that I don't want to have to copy the files, just create the dot-underscore file. For various reasons, we still need to use the Windows-based migration tools to migrate the files. So what I want is something that can read the metadata and resource fork WITHOUT making a copy of the file to produce the dot-underscore file. The solution I
currently have for them works like tar (without the extra step of storing things in the archive or requirement of using OS X tar to unpack it).

Move mail preview pane

New MacbookPro user here, after all these years of considering it. I want to set the external Thunderbolt display as primary, with the icons, and the laptop screen wouild just be its extension, essentially blank. Not mirroring both displays. I had it once but now cannot get it back that way.

Workflow display related issues

This issue is related to workflow display. We are not able to see vendor number, Invoice number etc for idocs coming from a particular vendor. However we are able see these details for idocs coming from all other vendors.
We compared control records of idocs for good case where we can see all relevant details in Vendor workflow with the bad case.
Below are the details of control records.
Good case :
Basic type : INVOIC01
Extension : ZINVOIC1
Message type : INVOIC
Message variant : MM
Bad case :
Basic type : INVOIC01
Extension :
Message type : INVOIC
Message Variant : FI
From comparison, we can see that 'Extension' is blank in bad case where as it is updated as 'ZINVOIC1' in good case. Further Message variant is 'MM' in good case & 'FI' in bad case. I am not sure if this is creating problems in workflow display.
Can someone please look into this & let us know what exactly is the issue here.

From my understanding MM task and FI task are different.
Go to SWO1 transaction and give your object id for invoic.
And click test botton and click instance in top of the screen menu.
Provide idoc number which is having problem and see you get all your information in attribute.
If required is not coming then put breakpoint in each method and see why its coming.

Using DropBox and Mavericks

I am posing this query because I thought that I knew how to create a link to a folder that I placed in DropBox. To be precise, here are the instructions for doing so from DropBox's website -
If you have the Dropbox desktop application on your computer, simply control-click (or right-click) on the file to open its contextual menu. Choose Share Dropbox link. The link will be copied and you can immediately paste it anywhere.
The window that should come up when you do this is, and I am also taking this from the DropBox website,
and great! You would obviously pick on the Share DropBox option. HOWEVER, when I follow these instructions with the folder that I want to create a link to, I get this window
what happened to the Share DropBox Link option? Is this somehow related to my recent upgrade to the Mavericks OS? Is creating a link to the folder done differently in Mavericks? Just in case you are wondering, the Share option in this window, when selected, gives us the choices of e-mail, messages and airdrop, none of which do what I want. Cany anyone help me with this problem of creating a link fo a folder in DropBox ?

I had a problem with Dropbox where the the Dropbox logo on toolbar had a drop down menu with a picture of a folder and a circle to its right. In the past before Mavericks mucked up a lot of things that previously worked it said what each icon was for when you hovered over it.
The folder icon went to my local filder as usual but the cicle icon went to a Google search with Top Sites on the heading. I downloaded the latest Dropbox and checked in the local folder by clicking on an enclosed folder in the box (with control depressed) and in each case with 'share this folder', 'view on dropbox' or 'share this file', it went to the same Google sarch box with top sites as its heading.
It turned out that it was an Extension in Safari that was causing the problem. If you go to preferences in Safari and then click on Extension logo and switch off the slider and the Dropbox works then that is where the problem is. I then restored the slider and called up the extensions one by one and deleted them. There was never a problem before Mavericks. Also in Safari it used to list all the extensions and now you have to summon them up one at a time.
Mavericks really has a lot of built in problems that Apple should have sorted before releasing it and bugs that should have been resolved by now. I am very unimpressed with Apple's attitude over their problem causing and their inability or willingness to resolve issues. It's nice to have my iMac running well again but every issue takes up far too much time resolving it and nobody is paying me for all this hassle.
To be fair to Apple one of their staff discovered the problem whilst cruising around my sytem on a screenshare app, but if I had not had that help I would have been sunk as I have spent the whole day researching forums and Googling and absolutely nothing of any use turned up. It's only because I mangaed to get a support package out of Apple because of the incredible number of problems caused on my Mac that I got this help. If I had been on my own with this I would not have thought of that solution because it was never an issue pre Mavericks. Enough said.

Issues opening XLS (2007) documents in Office Excel 2013

I recently upgraded my computer from Windows XP/Office 2007 to a completely new computer with Windows 8.1/Office 2013.
I am unable to open any of my .xls spreadsheets. The error I am getting from Office 2013 is:
"The file format and extension of "Blank Once and Again Invoice.xls' don't match. The file could be corrupted or unsafe. Unless you trust its source, don't open it. Do you want to open it anyways?"
And when I choose to open it anyway, my spreadsheet is full of giberish/symbols/nonesense.
My friend with Office 2010 is getting the same error and code. Is there a way to recover my files? Please help me save my business data!

Please try the following method.
Excel 2013:
1. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Excel\Security
2. Edit --> New --> DWord value
3. Name it ExtensionHardening. It will be on 0 by default.0
The file has to have an XLS extension, the key won't work for XLSX and the file wouldn't open using it.
    Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Excel\Security
    Value: (DWORD)"ExtensionHardening" = [0 = Disable check; 1 = Enable check and prompt; 2 = Enable check, no prompt deny open]
    Default setting if value not present is 1 (enable and prompt).
