Applescript to choose folders to save sent messages in Outlook 2011 for MAC

I want to create a rule to apply to messages as they are sent that gives me a dialog box in which to choose what folder I want to save the copy of the sent message (instead of the regular default of the Sent Items folder).
I just moved from a PC to a MAC and I miss this feature on Outlook 2011 for the MAC as I like to keep my replies/new messages sent in the same folders by subject as I leave received messages.
I've looked everywhere for an AppleScript I could use as part of a rule that applies to messages as they are sent and brings up a dialog box to chose the folder in which to save the sent message.
Anybody able to help here? It would be much appreciated!

Hi ZRANY,
First, you must be aware that “Mail does not apply rules to sent messages - if you want to organize your sent messages in mailboxes together with your received messages, you have to manually select all messages in your "Sent" mailbox and choose "Apply Rules to Selection" from the menu.” ([Mail Scripts 2.10.2|http://homepage.mac.com/aamann/Mail_Scripts.html]).
That being said, maybe the following very simple script could act as a starting point:
*using terms from application "Mail"*
*on perform mail action with messages theMessages*
*tell application "Mail"*
*repeat with eachMessage in theMessages*
*set theSubject to subject of eachMessage*
*choose from list (get name of mailboxes) with title "My mailboxes" with prompt "Subject: " & theSubject & return & return & "Select a mailbox where to copy this message."*
*duplicate eachMessage to mailbox 1 whose name is (item 1 of result) as text*
*end repeat*
*end tell*
*end perform mail action with messages*
*end using terms from*
Hope it can help.

  • Sent messages from secondary account are not saved in Outlook 2011 for Mac

We are using a shared email account added in Outlook 2011 for Mac.  It's not the default account but we send from it often.
Whenever sending from this secondary mailbox, the message is not saved in sent items folder under the secondary mailbox or the default mailbox.  There seems to be no record of the sent item anywhere.
I verified the message is sent and received.
All microsoft updates have been applied and we are using Exchange 2010.

    Hello,
Please first log into OWA and check if the email are saved in the Sent Items folder.
We can tick the option "Save copies of messages in Sent Items folder" in Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013 to save a copy of sent message, please check if you get such option in Outlook for Mac.
In addition, in Outlook for Windows, we can change a registry key to force Outlook to save sent emails in the default or secondary mailbox, but I'm not sure if Outlook 2011 has such trick. See:

I have an iMac 3.2 GHz Intel Core i5 with 16 GB memory and 1.12 TB storage running Yosemite 10.10.1 & Outlook 2011 for Mac.  For a while, sent emails went to a sent folder on the iMac so I have a collection of sent emails there.  I have attempted to move those sent emails from the iMac to my email server (IMAP), but without success.  Is there a way to move them to a sent box on my server so I can see them on other devices?  Many thanks for any help you can provide.

    1. Pure exchange 2013 with public folders.  Does outlook 2011 for MAC support public folders in this scenario
    2. exchange 2013 in coexistence with exchange 2010, 2007.  Does outlook 2011 for MAC support accessing the legacy public folders in this scenario?

  • Export Apple Mail Emails & Sub Folders to Outlook 2011 for Mac

    Hello,
Could somebody please tell me how I go about exporting emails and the subfolders I have created from Apple Mail over to Microsoft Outlook 2011.
Can you also please advise if I am able to add these emails into an existing Main Identity?
Any help would be much appreciated

INFORMATION on Emailchemy from another Forum
I’ve found a way in which you can import Apple Mail into Outlook 2011 on Mac OS X Lion.
The software I’m running is Mac OS X 10.7.2 on a 2011 MacBook Pro.
You need to purchase an app called Emailchemy. It’s 29.99 for an individual license, and 49.99 for a family license. There are enterprise versions available as well.
Once you run the app, you need to do the following:
    1. Export all mailboxes from Apple Mail to your desktop (or any other suitable location on your computer). You do this by selecting the mailbox, and then clicking on “Mailbox”, and then “Export Mailbox”. Save the destination, and the file is saved automatically.
    2. Then you open Emailchemy and do the following:
    - click on “toolbox” in the bottom left hand corner
    - click on the second box on the top left hand called “advanced email conversion”
    - click on “add file”
    - select the folder (s) you just exported from Apple Mail (e.g. Inbox.mbox)
    Now here comes the trick
    - select format “apple mail 1.0 in the format option at the bottom
    - then 3 sub-folders will appear “info-p.list”, “mbox” and “table of contents”
    Select “mbox”
    - click on “convert” and choose a save file name. Choose the format “MBOX file (standard mbox)”
    - click on save
And you then have a folder created which Outlook 2011 recognizes and can import.
I just imported all my Apple Mail into Outlook 2011 – it works really well too – the formatting, attachments, etc are all there!
    Hope this helps.

  • Outlook 2011 for Mac Data is corrupt Mail could not be sent Error code: -19943

Why am I constantly getting this error?
    What does this error mean?
    How do I fix this?
This MacBook Air belongs to a VIP in our company. She is under the impression that she has received a lemon, due to the following experiences (verbatim):
Random beeping noise coming from machine. Unexplainable. No obvious pattern.
Machine randomly sounds like an airplane taking off. Fan running constantly.
Unable to view Sent folder in Outlook. Periodically.
Unable to view Sent items. Periodically.
Calendar items/invites/meetings do not display accordingly.
    Unable to accept/decline meeting invitations.
Pinwheel constantly displays. Forced to reboot due to freezing.
Constantly receiving 'Data is corrupt' error message in Outlook.
Constantly receiving 'An internal server error occurred. The operation failed' in Outlook.
I understand the majority of these issues points towards the Office/Outlook application, but why don't any of the troubleshooting methods resolve or alleviate any of the aforementioned symptoms at all?
No one else in my company with this software is receiving this message.
I have rebuilt the database 3 times.
I have reinstalled the software twice.
    All software is up-to-date.
Why doesn't Apple support this software?
Why doesn't Microsoft support this software?
Every forum I search regarding Office for Mac results in a never ending loop of both companies panning the issue off to the other and nobody takes responsibility.
Is there anyone out there willing to take the time to assist me and fully exhaust their knowledge to present some sort of solution towards this issue?
I am fully committed to this discussion and will provide any and all information needed in order to fix the issue.
Why are there other users with the same software who are NOT experiencing the same issues?
As a last resort, I am aware backing-up the profile/account and restoring the OS is an option. What if this plan of action doesn't solve anything? What if the problem persists?
My technical knowledge of Apple/Mac devices is limited, and I would appreciate any advice/suggestions/support on the matter, as this is a high priority issue and I would like to learn from this so as to avoid any similar issues that I may encounter in the future.
Thank you in advance for your help.

    Hello Warren, which Mail App?
    Generally,
SMTP error 554 (Transaction failed) is one of the most vague error codes, but is typically caused by something in the From or To headers that server doesn't like.
In other words, the problem is in the sender or recipient email address.
    It can be caused by
    The sender address isn't valid.
The server thinks this email is spam or server IP address has been blacklisted
A spam trap identifying your machine as a relay, or as a machine not trusted to send mail from your domain.

  • Outlook 2011 for Mac doesn't display incoming messages.  Help!, Outlook 2011 for Mac doesn't display incoming messages.  Help!

I haven't done anything to my MacBook since last week (upgraded to Lion), and on Monday morning it stopped receiving emails to my work account (MS Exchange).  I have no problem sending emails from my work account.  this is very strange.  For clarity, Outlook is working fine for my msn account, and was working fine for my work account after I upgraded to Lion. It just stopped working for receiving (not sending) emails from my work account Monday morning.
    Thanks in advance!!!

  • Help with "The end of file was reached" error message in Outlook 2011

Hello, I am having an issue with Outlook 2011 that after 24 hours or so I am getting a “The end of file was reached” error message code -17895.
Right after this error I get a disconnected from Exchange server and even after re opening the client it stays like this for about 5 minutes then restores. Has anyone else seen this error? I am able to reproduce this on multiple machines with multiple Exchange
    2010 mailbox accounts.

    Same situation here:
Outlook 2011 for Mac using Office 365, 3 users have reported the End of File Reached error when trying to send email.
I have logged a ticket with Microsoft support and they have followed up with the following directions.
    1.
Repair Disc Permissions On A Mac
    o
    1
Log in to your computer with the administrative account. Open the hard drive, go into the "Applications" folder and then open the "Utilities" folder. Now launch the Disc Utility application.
    o
    2
Select your main hard drive. You'll probably see two options--one is the manufacturer's name of the disc and the other name is what you've called it. Choose the name of your hard drive.
    o
    3
Click on "Verify Disc Permissions" and the computer will perform a diagnostic test. After a few minutes, the problems with disk permissions will be reported in the Disc Utility window.
Click on "Repair Disc Permissions" to fix them.
    o
    4
Insert your Mac OS X installation disk and restart your computer. Hold down the "C" key on your keyboard to boot from the disk rather than your computer's hard drive. Cancel the OS
    installation and open Disc Utility.
    o
    5
Click on "Verify" to have Disc Utility check your computer's hardware. Notice that this option is only available when the program is run from the CD. You can only test the hardware
of a computer that isn't running the program locally.
    o
    6
Use Disc Utility to try and repair any hardware errors that it detects. Usually fixing the permissions will be enough to maintain your computer. If you still experience frequent lockups
and crashes, then you should try repairing it with this method.
    Tips & Warnings
If you use your computer for high-performance work, such as software compiling or video editing, then you may want to check the permissions weekly. Most computer users will only need
to fix permissions after noticing problems with applications or the operating system.
If the computer's performance does not improve after repairing permissions, then you'll have to troubleshoot for other issues. You may want to purchase more RAM for your computer to
    help speed it up.
Permissions repairs will not correct problems caused by applications that did not use Apple's installer. Try deleting all files associated with the application and then reinstalling
    it.
Avoid repairing the permissions after you've booted the computer from the OS X CD. It won't cause problems to your drive, but the version of "Disc Utility" on the CD may not be updated
to address permission changes that are required by certain software updates.
Secondly, the information for repairing an Outlook 2011 database is as follows:

  • How can i use another folder to save sent messages...

    hi,
i want to use another folder to save sent messages as usually send messages are stored in sent folder, but due to some reasons i want to store sent messages into another folder, how can i do this?
    thanks in anticipation.

You cannot use the local variable of the chart to save anything. You would need to use the History property to save the current data and the TDMS Write will not accept that data type either. You could convert the history data to a 1D waveform data type.

How do I save "Sent" messages when sending from the ipad2?

By default sent items should be saved in your Sent folder. For IMAP type accounts you should be able to change that by selecting the account in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars , then selecting 'Account' on the popup for it and then 'Advanced' at the bottom of the next popup

You can disable the Adobe Reader plugin in Firefox (Tools > Add-ons > Plugins) and use the external Adobe Reader application or Preview application instead.
