Applet doesn't load on other computers

i just made an applet that works fine the computer that created it, but when I take all my class files, media files, and the html that displays the applet onto another computer, there isn't even the usual loading phase, just a blank gray space. At the bottom left of the browser, it says it couldn't find the class file, but the entire directory is an exact duplicate of the one on my computer, all files are in the same location and there aren't even any nested folders. Why can't it find the class?

how would I redesign it? I did use JApplet as opposed
to Applet, but I am unfamiliar with Applet, do I just
extend Applet instead of JApplet as the only change?I'm by no means a swing expert - can't help there. But I wouldn't really recommend redesigning to fit the lowest common denominator anyway, I was just pointing out your options. If I were you I'd make your hosting HTML file use the <OBJECT...> tag that references the Java Plug-in instead of the old <APPLET...> tag. That way, the browser would see that it needs an object that it doesn't have installed, and would "automatically" go download the plugin for them. Search Sun's website for how to convert APPLET tags to plug-in tags.

  • Why will Adobe Acrobat not load PDF from my work website, but will load on other computers?

Why will Adobe Acrobat not load PDF from my work website, but will load on other computers?  I have to log in to a website to get our orders, and we thought it was the website at first, but have since realized it is just my computer with this issue.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software and still it does not work.

You ask "why", but don't provide any information...
    What is your operating system?
    What is your web browser?
Are you asking about Adobe Reader or Acrobat?
What is your Reader / Acrobat version?
What exactly means "will not load"?

  • Applet doesn´t load in java 7 with next-generation plug-in marked

I have developed an applet with netbeans 7.1.2 which worked fine until I updated from jvm6 to jvm7. The applet does not load properly unless I uncheck from the configuration of the jvm the checbox plug-in next-generation.
Anyone know why in java 6 working properly with the plug-in next generation and in java 7 do not?
I can do something to work properly in Java 7 without having to uncheck the checkbox?
    Thanks.

1 - Java installed -> 1.7.0_05-b06. In Firefox works fine. The problem is in IE8.
    2 - I can run other applets.

  • IMac isn't loading a specific website (can't connect to that server), regardless of browser, though the same website will load on other computers on same network. Is it an issue with the iMac's settings?

Our iMac isn't loading a specific website (we get a message saying it can't connect to that specific server), regardless of browser (I've tried it in Chrome, Safari, and Firefox). However, the same website, which is for a major medical provider, loads without any issue on our other computers on the same wireless network. Is it an issue with the iMac's settings? All other websites seem to be loading without issue on the iMac.

... Is it an issue with the iMac's settings?
Possibly. Make sure you are not using a proxy server. Look in Safari Preferences > Advanced > Proxies > "Change Settings..." This will take you to the applicable Network Preferences. Make sure that nothing is selected in the "select a protocol to configure" list. It should look like this:
    Still not working?
Locate your Terminal app. It is in your Utilities folder. Open Terminal.
In Terminal, copy (triple-click) and paste the following line:
osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of every login item'
This will produce a list of all your account login items.
While you are in Terminal, copy (triple-click) and paste the following line:
    kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}'
This will produce a list of all non-Apple kernel extensions. There will be few, if any.
Post the results of the above.

  • .jar applet doesn't load deppending on the webserver...

    Hi all,
I've got a little problem with an applet I'm trying to deploy... it's a signed applet I call from a HTML like this:
    <applet code="pack1.pack2.TheMain" width="975" height="575" archive="pack.jar" MAYSCRIPT>
El navegador no deja cargar applets
</applet>- pack1.pack2.TheMain is the main class name.
    - pack.jar is the jar containing all the classes with the correct packages definitons.
If I put the index.html and the pack.jar files in an Apache webserver it loads correctly. (I understand that I ask for the html page, the browser sees that it needs a .jar file, it donwloads it, and tries to begin with TheMain.class).
But I've tried to deploy with a very basic webserver, the implementation from http://www.opentcp.org/ . The html loads, it starts downloading the .jar, but when it has finished, the browser asks to the server for the TheMain.class file. Why??? it gives an error, because it's not in the server (there is only the .jar file with all files packed). The class should had been downloaded with .jar file, why does the browser ask it to the server?
Perhaps some problem with headers.. mime types? I'm don't know much about this... do you now any reference?
    thanks a lot!

thank you for your interest Peter... I'm a little confused, still working on it. I'll ask again later!

  • Slow page up loads on other computers

I have a iweb site that I use to communicate with large group of people with different levels of internet access ie. slow speed connections, broad band, dial up and older model PCs etc...
I want my site to be easy and quick to use. How can I best set up my site for quick load ups and transfers between pages.
    Tips welcome...
    Thanks

Optimize any photos or other image you plan to use on the pages. This is probably the #1 mistake people make. iWeb kind of makes it too easy to drop huge files everywhere.
Avoid using shadows, non-standard fonts, image rotation, transparency and image borders. All these things cause iWeb to generate PNG image and PNG images are generally far larger in size. Gradients will create PNGs too.
    After that, you're pretty safe.

please help...the code is straight from the book and compiled fine..Just when I open the html the applet doesn't load.

I also noticed your class is called BigDeptApplet and your HTML refers to <applet code="BigDebtApplet.class". Not much difference, but enough. I only wish I could only spot my own mistakes.
That said I still haven't got your applet working in I.E. 6 on X.P. even though I know in the past I have managed it in the same browser & O.S.
Hopefully somebody will add to this thread, good luck.

  • Applet won't load in IE7

I have an applet that works perfectly in Firefox on Linux. But when I tried to test it with IE7 on Windows, I never saw the applet at all. The Java console showed no errors. I have a feeling it is the object tag I am using. I need to pass data back and forth between the page and the applet, so I must use the mayscript parameter. As far as I know, the mayscript parameter is not available from the applet tag, which is deprecated anyway I think.
Below is the code I am using to load the applet. For reasons of my own, I changed the archive name to myapplet.jar and the package path to path/dir, but I am pretty sure these parameters are not the problem. The applet was created with version 1.5.0_06.
    <object width= "600" height= "760"

</object>Any ideas why the applet doesn't load on IE7/Windows?

If the other machine doesn't have a Java runtime (JRE) equivalent to Sun J2Re ver. 1.4.0_01 or later installed, that is probably the cause.
If one is installed. chech the Java plugin and make sure it's enabled.

  • Can't 'see" other computers on my home network

I just added a third Mac to my home network. We already had a G4 running OSX.2 and an iBook running OSX.4. I've now added a G4 running OSX.4, but the new computer doesn't "see" the other computers in the network list.
On the first G4, if I browse the network (by pressing apple-K) I see the other two computers, the iBook and the new G4.
On the iBook, if I open a finder window and click the "Network" icon, I get the other two computers listed.
But on the new G4, if I open a finder window and select the Network icon, I get three folders, "Applications", "Library", and "Users". And these three folders are apparently empty.
I DO have internet connection, so the connection is okay. And if I press apple-K to get a server list, and type in the IP address of one of the other two computers, I can access them that way. But why don't they show up on the Network list? What do I have configured wrong? Obviously, I CAN use the "apple-k" connect-to-servers-by-typing-in-the-IP-address method, but it's not as "nice" as having them just show up in the network window.
I'm sure it's something simple that I missed, and I'll probably feel like an idiot when someone points it out, but fire away folks!
    G4 867Mhz   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

make sure you have your automounter running. Do this in a terminal to make sure:
    ps aux|grep -i automount
If it is not running, you may have turned it off using some utility (bad idea). It's controlled by the NFS startup item and should be enabled so the OSX API can listen for traffic on port 548, which is the Apple Fileshare Protocol port of register.
if this is confusing, I can give more detail when I arrive at my home.

  • G5 No longer connecting to airport and other computers on network

My G5 dual 2.0 (mid 1994) was connecting to the internet through airport extreme base station until Saturday. I had upgraded it to leopard (archive & Install) then up to 10.5.1 last week and all was good. After bootup today it doesn't see any other computers on the network and it doesn't get email and doesn't access the web. When I check network settings I notice that WPA Personal is selected but not WPA2, so I tried to change that but it didn't seem to change after applying after a restart. Then I checked to see if DHCP setting were configured. This is where things seem odd, I can't renew the DHCP lease like I can on my MacBook Pro (running current version of tiger) that I am typing this with. I tried to make a new airport connection, tried using a different account, checked system profiler (sees card and all), but no connection to email or internet. Is there a firewall configuration that I need to set differently? Also, verified permissions. Is there something else that needs to be done or is there a ugly bug stopping the show?

i had the same problem after installing leopard on my macbook. it would not connect to the internet! i called applecare today and actually got someone who knew how to help me. he said that you have to reset the parameters whatever that means! and this is how you do it:
1 - turn off your computer
2 - turn on computer and immediately hold down these four buttons simultaneously: Option Key, Apple Key, P, R - then when you hear the second "ding" , LET GO OF THE FOUR BUTTONS.
i did it and the macbook is connecting to the internet just fine. i hope this helps!!!!!!!!

  • Executable doesn't run in other computer

    Hello all,
I have built a executable for one of our labview application and it works properly in this PC, the problem is the executable doesn't run in other computers, I've read the documentation sorting it out.
    I checked:
-The OS is the same in both PC.
-I attached the file sepdrv in executable's folder (I am using serial communication).
-Labview Run Time Engine is instaled.
The executable doesn't take the default icon in other computers, does it...

    Hi!
It shouldn't be a licensing problem, and you don't have to have LabView installed on the PC in which your application will run, installer is meant for this! Otherwise, if you had LabView on target PC, it would have been enough to run the VI on the other PC (provided you've the same libraries....).
I use NI Developer Suite 7.1, so in LabVIew 7.1, you have
tools --> Build application or shared library ...
Go to "installer settings", check "create installer", and in "advanced properties" check for what you need for your application to run.
I only have an "evaluation version" of LV 8.5, so I cannot grant you that I can help you, but I'm doing a little check...  please, let me know what LabView do you have!

  • Error loading only one particular website's images, other computers can view site perfectly fine.

I am trying to view fabric.com. I initially viewed the site fine, then I connected to a wifi network with bad service and none of the photos showed up on that site and others. Now whenever I view the site, the pictures don't come up. I tried clearing cookies and restarting. All other sites work fine and the fabric.com site works on other computers.

Could be your image permissions for the site. If you right-click the page, choose View Page info, and click over to the Permissions tab: is "Load Images" set to block? In that case you can simply check the "Use default" box and that should fix it. (Of course, you'll need to reload the page.)

  • HT4889 Migration assistant doesn't see my 3TB Time machine it just keeps looking for other computers

I just did a clean install of Mountain Lion on my iMac and Migration Assistant doesn't seem to see my 3TB Time Machine.  It continuously looks for other computers, and nothing else.  I know the files work because I loaded it on my other MBP and it sees them just fine?  am I just inpatient or is something wrong?

This happened to me after hard drive replacement under the Seagate Drive Recall at the local Apple Store. Here's what I learned from the process:
I Wagged the Mac home, fired it up (with naked OS installed at the Apple Store), and it wouldn't see my Time Machine drive with Setup Assistant - not on firewire 800 nor USB. Just a grey spinner that lasts forever. When I try just continuing anyway, it offers me something that looks plausible, but then puts up a dialog about duplicate user name, and no matter what I enter, it always says "that user already exists". So I think - maybe Migration Assistant. Complete the setup, create an account, watch the nice welcome movie. BAM - there's my Time Machine drive on the desktop. OK - it has to work . . . but no. Same behavior in Migration Assistant, plus the new OS offers to start making backups on my Time Machine disk - it's not recognizing it at all.
So - back to the Apple Store - let the genius figure it out. It turns out there are multiple problems. First, the "genius" who imaged my new machine picked 10.7.2 but my machine had 10.7.5 - turns out, it's not enough just to have right cat. Even a point release older OS may not recognize a newer Time Machine drive. The guy at the desk said "We have images of everything but the 10.7.2 has free iLife in it, so they like to use that one". What the heck? They don't image what you had originally as a matter of sane process?
Having figured that out, we re-image 10.7.5 at the store thinking we've fixed it. But no - Setup Assistant still won't see the Time Machine drive. Not on USB, not on Firewire. Not in a box, not with a fox.
So here's the second trick - newer machines have a recovery partion. see: http://www.apple.com/osx/recovery/  Boot with the option key held down, pick that partition, then you'll get a "system restore" option, to restore your whole system from a Time Machine backup. My drive was recognized by the recovery partition restore process when neither Setup nor Migration Assistant would. Obviously, there's something broken in Setup/Migration Assistant.
    Takeaway:
    - if you're getting a drive replaced by Apple, make sure they image *exactly* the same OS
    - if Setup Assistant fails, use the recovery partition for system restore
    - Use Recovery Disk Assistant http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1433 NOW to make yourself a recovery thumb drive just in case. With Apple's new "no media" approach to the OS, you're hosed without it.

  • We have a PC with iTunes that needs the hard drive reformatted. Right now, it can't connect to other computers on the network. Can I save my music to a thumb drive, then re-load when the computer is reformatted?

We have a Windows XP desktop with iTunes for windows. The hard drive needs to be reformatted. Right now, the computer will not connect to other computers on the network. Can I save my iTunes songs to a thumbdrive, then re-load after reformatting?  How do I do it?

Copy the entire iTunes folder out to the drive. If it is too big to go as one copy stuff over to another computer in batches. It is important to have not only the media but the library file in order to properly restore your library.
See also this User Tip. Assuming the machine won't connect to the internet you could download the SyncToy installer on another machine and then transfer it with the thumb drive. If it will connect to the net don't forget to deauthorize the machine before reformatting the hard drive.

  • Why can't other computers open my photos from Iphoto or down load them? they don't show up as an icon.

Why can't other computers open and/or download my photos when I email themfrom IPhoto? Have also tried making it a separate file on my desk; to no avail.
It shows as an icon and jpeg when it goes out from my computer but they can't download it.
They might see the photo imbedded in the emil but it doesn't appear as a downloadable icon.
    Thank you for your help.

I think I can help. I use Mac but my secretary uses PC.
Make a file on your desktop and name it "test"
Go to iPhoto and click on a photo to send to this folder
Go to file and choose "export"
Pop up window - Kind: jpeg
    quality: maximum
    size: full
click on export and choose the "test" folder you created on the desktop.
You can now send any jpeg that you put in this folder from an email account by "attaching file" from within the email. If you have more than one jpeg, right click on the folder and choose "compress file"
