Applet on mac wrong size

Hi,
I have a program as an applet (rather than JApplet for backward compatability on the mac), and i am debugging it on the macintosh. the applet contains a panel with a card layout, this has a panel as a menu and another panel which is a game that i have overridden the paint method to update graphics.
The problem is is that the size is supposed to be 500 by 500 but whenever i run it always paints at about 30 by 60, no matter what size(), bounds() or location() i set. It is always set to the center aswell.
I have made it using all swing components and it works fine, but my specification says it should be on a mac. Because of this i have had to change all components to old awt components, the functionallity seems to work, but painting is buggered.
any ideas?
chers

Fixed it now, just put layout manager as null

  • Import from Number Mac = wrong size rows, text 1/2 hidden !?!

    Hi All,
    I just moved some basic lists from Numbers on Mac, to Numbers on iPad.
    The content is fine, but the height of the rows is about 1/2 so the text is partly hidden..
    I can't seem to find Any adjustments that will correct this.. anyone found a solution, either on the Mac side or iPad side?
    I tried adjusting font, font size, bold/italic, template.. nothing helps..

    You mention everything but resizing the rows themselves.
    tap once on the table to se the rgey bars on the side and top. then tap next to your row on the grey bar to the left. Thene sxtend the selection by using the gripper circle in the middle of the selection rectangle, now use the gripper area at the bottom of the (now blue) bar to the left and drag down.
    If you did do this but that is not the solution you want, did you get a warning about fonts being substituted due to the limited fonts available on the ipad? If so then find a font on the ipad you like and reformat the Mac version with those fonts.

  • Time machine gives wrong size in lion 10.7.4

    The hard drive has a total size of 250 gb but time machine gives wrong size of 750 gb??

    Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
    Select "system.log" from the file list. Enter "backupd" (without the quotes) in the String Matching text field. Post the messages from the last backup, beginning with "Starting standard backup."
    Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Do not post many repetitions of the same message.
    Some personal information, such as the names of your files, may be included — edit that out, too, but don’t remove the context.

  • File displaying wrong size.

    The file displaying the wrong size is Fallout New Vegas on a wineskin wrapper. The wrapper was 500 Megabytes. When I installed fallout New Vegas on the wrapper, it remained at 500 Megabytes. I had installed it on the Desktop and now my About my Mac is doing the same thing. It only displays the 500 megabytes the file shows. I clicked more info and it still said that. How do I fix this to display it?
    BTW, when I copy it, it says 8.33 Gigabytes and  that is it's correct size.

    The Mac is reporting file size in megabytes.  Windows is reporting file size in mebibytes.  The difference is that a megabyte is 1,000,000 bytes, while a mebibyte is 1,048,576 bytes.  This change was made in Mac OS X so that reported disk sizes would agree with manufacturer's claimed sizes...  most manufacturers claiming a size of 500 GB mean 500,000,000,000 bytes.  Mac OS X will also call that number of bytes 500 GB, while Windows will call it 465.7 GB.  That confused a lot of people.

    Are you talking about the green '+' button in the top left corner? That technically doesn't enlarge it. It switches the window from the default window size to the custom size you made. You can enlarge the window by moving your mouse to the bottom right corner of the window, and dragging until you get the size you want.

  • PopupMenu  displayed incorrectly in applet on Mac 9.2 and Netscape 7.02

    Hi All,
    I am running an applet on Mac OS 9.2 with Netscape 7.02 (with default jvm, no additional plug-in installed).
    The applet contains menubar with 5 Menus (implemented using PopupMenu) options. The diffrent menus are File, Edit, Zoom, Transform and Help, with diffrent menu-items added to them.
    When any of the menus is selected for the first time the contents of Zoom menu pops up (even if user clicks on File or Edit etc). This happens only for the first time. From second time onwards no such problem repeates.
    The code has been checked thoroughly and various changes done, but the problem could not be solved.
    Has anyone come across similar problem? Is there any solution for the specified problem?
    Thanx & Regards,
    Charu

    It would be nice to see the sources...
    Usually, people don't use PopupMenu for implementing menus in menu bar - they use JMenu for this. Did you try that? Or do you use JMenu and still have problems?

    I read somewhere that you can't send parameters through to the Applet. Is that true? I'm not trying to do this and it's still doesn't work.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Create custom document with wrong size

    Hi,
    I have a problem (on Sun Solaris 5.8) when I create custom document with more than 10MB size.
    I've created an agent which detects the events on a custom data type
    MYDOCUMENT (extension .mydoc).
    When I put a new document test1.mydoc (size of 10MB for example), my agent detects the new document, creates a copy, sets the class object to
    MYDOCUMENT , removes the original document and puts the copy into the same folder.
    But sometimes, the copy created has a wrong size (less then 10MB).
    How can I configure the nfs server to be sure that the agent waits for the complete size of the added document.
    I need HELP !!!!
    Thanks

    Hi Pavithra,
                    yeah you can create your custom table by entering fields in Standard.  for more details

  • Help: JPanel/JFrame display complexities, wrong size

    I am trying to make a simple game of worms.I wan't to draw a rectangle in the center of the window where in the middle the game is played and on the outside score, lives and other such things are displayed. The problem is the rectangle won't draw properly because the window is the wrong size and I don't know if it is something I am doing wrong with the panel or frame.

            f.setSize(WIDTH, HEIGHT);
            f.setVisible(true);
            wp.startGame();
    }Somewhere in there is my problem.
    What happens is that the right and bottom walls of the Rectangle are cut off of the screen because the window is not the right size. I changed the code to determine if the coordinates of the walls were accurate every iteration and they were. I also made it check the width and height every iteration by printing out this.getWidth() and this.getHeight() and found that instead of a 600 x 400 window, I have a 584 x 364. I also tried changing the panel and frame's size methods to make a new dimension instead of setting it directly from my constants and it had no effect. I also added directly to those constants to make it precisely 600 x 400 but the rectangle is still cut off, so maybe I also have a graphics issue. The only other potential issue I can think of is that I have Vista but I looked around here and searched google and found no similar issues to this.
    I am not new to java but I am also not advanced. I just started using java again after about 6 months and I have made a pong game before without this problem, on another computer though.I am at my wits end. I'll check for responses tomorrow and thank you for any help or insight you can offer.

    the problem is here
    walls = new Rectangle(50, 50, WIDTH - 50, HEIGHT - 50);
    at best the right/bottom walls will equal the frame's dimensions. try it as
    walls = new Rectangle(50, 50, WIDTH - 100, HEIGHT - 100);
    but this won't get you exactly what you want, due to the titlebar height (30?)
    slightly different version
    import javax.swing.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    class DemoWormPanel extends JPanel {
        private static final int WIDTH = 600, HEIGHT = 400;
        public DemoWormPanel() {
            setBackground(Color.BLACK);
            setPreferredSize(new Dimension(WIDTH-100,HEIGHT-100));
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            DemoWormPanel wp = new DemoWormPanel();
            JFrame f = new JFrame();
            f.setLayout(new GridBagLayout());
            f.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
            f.add(wp,new GridBagConstraints());
            f.setSize(WIDTH, HEIGHT);
            f.setVisible(true);
    }

  • Java applet in Mac OS

    Hello. There was a problem in applet under Mac OS. The problem is that if I call the dialog from an applet, then close the dialog applet does not receive the focus and have to again click on the applet.
    What can I do? Or should we write AppleScript applet to transfer the focus after the dialog is closed

    Oracle does not provide JRE for Mac OS X (at this moment).
    It may work better if you ask for advice on Apple's Java forum.

  • Applets in Mac OS

    Hi Java Guys,
    When I tried to open an html in the local system, that had an applet embedded, I could see the applet displayed inside the html. But when I put the same page and applet to some other machine and tried to access the html via ip address, only the html contents were seen and the applet did not load.
    The first error I noticed was "Class not found". Some how I solved this, but now security expection is coming, eventhough i didnot access any system properties.
    Does applet work well with MAC if the applet is coming from a remote system ? Or is this a bug ?
    I would be really thankful if somebody could tell me how to view online applets on Mac OS.
    Thanks in Advance

    is this a Problem with Cache ??
    I have one more doubt about MacOS. Where does Mac Store its Temporary Internet Files ?
    Does this has error has something do with the Internet Cache ?
    I checked /Mac hdd/System Folder/Preferences/MS Internet Cache/cache.waf. Is this the only
    file which is getting when an url is entered in IE ? Or is there someother location in
    mac that is storing the html, class files and images ? If in windows, the class files are
    downloaded to the the "temporary internet files" and then get executed on the client
    html, then the cache might be also a problem.
    Just Ignore this if the internet cache has nothing to do with applet display !!

  • Printer prints wrong size

    HP 2570 Photosmart
    Running windows XP
    No messages
    No known changes
    I tried this question in the Home and Network printing forum, and after 4 days, not one person has replied, much less had an answer.
    Recently, my HP 2570 has been printing certain files the wrong size.  I have a graphics design program (basically line art) which is supposed to print my design at actual size.  The design has a background of a 1" by 1" grid.
    Until recently, I have had no problems.  Now, when I try to print a design, the print preview shows the image as it should appear, but the printed image is reduced to about 87% of the actual size.  This is easy to verify - I measure the spacing of the grid lines - they are 7/8" apart.
    I printed the same design on two different days, and the two printed images are NOT the same size.
    The only thing which I can find which seems unusual is that when I look at the printer driver details, I find FIVE different files.  They are:
    C:\\windows\system32\drivers\serscan.sys
    .....................................hpotiop2.dll
    .....................................hpovst09.dll
    .....................................hpowiamd.dll
    .....................................hpzc3212.dll
    Any ideas?

    Hi there,
    Try downloading and running the print and scan doctor located here(to make sure there are no software issues causing the problem):
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03275041&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en
    It can fix a lot on its own and if not give a better idea of what is going on.
    Best of Luck!

  • Site previews fine in Firefox locally, but when I published the site all the text is the wrong size

    I am a rookie web designer. I recently created a site using CS6. http://www.joshuahetzler.com When I previewed the site in Dreamweaver it looked good in Firefox and IE. I published the site and now it is messed up in Firefox. All the text is the wrong size. Does anyone know how to fix this? Does it have something to do with my hosting provider? (I deleted a wordpress site from the directory an hourago and put this new site in its place) Why does IE display properly, but not Firefox...

    Caused by a bad link to your site's CSS file.  This is pointing to a file on your local hard drive which nobody but you can see.
    <link href="file:///C|/hetzlerj/jhgc/menu.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    Open your template and reconcile the path to your site folder.  It should probably look like this:
    <link href="../menu.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    Save Template.  Populate changes to Child pages.  Upload Child pages.

  • Landscape Orientation: [view bounds] gives wrong sizes?

    Hi
    Getting a view's bounds rect while in Landscape Mode returns the wrong sizes:
    Starting from a new UIView Template Project, I'm adding a single UIView to the ViewController in Interface Builder (in Landscape Mode) and setting the view size to width=400, height=200;
    However when I add a breakpoint in the ViewController (at viewDidAppear), the sizes are w=220, h=380!
    (Even though the view clearly is correct on the screen)
    In myViewController.m I've set:
    - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:
    (UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation {
    return (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight); // home button on right
    In myAppDelegate.m
    - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions {
    application.statusBarOrientation = UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight; //home on right
    [window addSubview:viewController.view];
    [window makeKeyAndVisible];
    return YES;
    and in the info.plist I've set: Initial interface orientation = Landscape (right home button)
    I'm not trying to rotate the view with the iPhone, it is meant to be fixed in Landscape only.
    Is there a workaround for this? I need to create some CALayers dependent on the correct view size.
    Thanks
    Steve

    I figured it out
