Applet using local jar library, is it possible?

Hi Experts,
i'm asking myself if it could be possible to store a library (a big one) into a local computer... which could be accessible from an applet (jar). To do a long story short, i need a crystal report lib to be used with an applet, but the library is to big to be compiled with the applet. If you have suggestions, tutorials or examples... they could be very appreciate.

No matter what, if it's your intention to use Crystal Reports in support of an applet that a client acquires over the net from a server, then the needed Crystal Report stuff will have to be available to the client - and including that in a jar with an applet, that's downloaded from the server, is a common solution. You may get into problems with the time it takes to download; you may want to look into lazy downloading, or use the new JNLP-based solutions now available in Java 6u10.

Class not found in applet using 2 jar files

I have an applet which has been working for years as a stand alone or connecting directly to a derby database on my home server. I have just changed it to connect to MySQL on my ISP server via AJAX and PHP.
I am now getting a class not found error in my browser, probably because I'm stuffing up the class path.

[Eclipse e Enterprise Architect 7.1]- how use eaapi.jar library?

Hi everybody!
I'm using Eclipse and Enterprise Architect 7.1 library (eaapi.jar) for a university project. I must use the api in order to create a new class diagram, add a new class, attributes and so on.
All samples that I find are in Visual Basic 6.0...nothing java samples!!
Please help me! I would need at least a full documentation about the API of this library!

Problem with using external jar file

Hi
I was using mail.jar library for swing application to send and receive emails. It just works perfect when I run with netbeans. But when I run the executable jar file at dist folder it runs but mail related functions doesn't work.What should I do now to make it work with mail features outside netbeans.

Currently, i am using osb 11g to develop a system. In the system we need to create a log file using log4j.jar library. This sub-program is working in the osb 10g base but fail to work in the osb 11g base. Can anyone give me some advice about this matter? Have anyone created one like this in 11g? Is it successful?

Using a Jar file into my jar project (Applet)

I would like to know how I have to do to put a jar library in my jar file (containing my classes) ?
I use only 2 classes of that particular jar library (Regex.class & RegRes.class), and when I only put the jar file (patbinfree153.jar), the applet stops when its reaches the first line where i use this class.
this line :

That it to say that the jvm can find the 2 external classes when I run the program trough Eclipse, but can't find them when I create my package .jar. (I hope I am clear)
Do I need to extract the folders of this jar file ? Because I dont think the import works with those two classes. Or can I just put those 2 classes like my own classes, in this case, what to write for the import line ?

In the tutorial you gave me, it is said to add the following line in the manifest file to use jar in jar :

I did it, it works fine locally, but when i put my html, jar, files on my web site, my applet seams not to find the other jar file again.
Locally, the architecure is the following :
\upload4.html
\upload4.jar (its manifest have the class-path line linking with patbinfree153.jar)
\patbinfree153.jar (contains 2 classes I need)I uploaded the same architecture on my web site, but it doesn't work. The applet stops when it reaches the 1st line where I need one of the patbinfree153 classes.
Any idea ? :-)

I use JBuilder as IDE and i developed an applet that uses XYLayout. The problem i'm having is that the browser (MS Internet Explorer and Netscape) throw the same error and that is the package i used.
How could i configure it???

This library isn't provided by Sun, so the when i try to run the applet from a browser, it throws an error.
The question is: how can i "tell" the browser to "look-up" the Borland's library i use?

I followed the steps of how to create DC, External Library Project, which contains the jar I want.
I understood that this type of project can't be deployed so I build and deployed other DC Project from the type J2EE server component Library and added it to it's public part. What do I do next, to actually use the jar and it's imports?

Many thanks JEM24 for your help. Ive just spent the best part of six hundred pounds on a new Sony Rx100m2 compact camera, so I have no interest in the Ipods camera at all really. I doubt Ill be watching many videos on it as Im very lucky in that I have a good Android tablet. Its more as a stock music player that Ill be buying the Ipod for, if indeed I do end up buying one. I dont like the idea of paying the exorbitant amount added for more memory space that Apple along with most other companies charge. In fact I read an article on this very subject just yesterday in the tech section of Flipboard. It stated in the article that in the case of the Iphone the actual cost of each additional gigabyte of storage to Apple et al is something in the order of 60p.. This is certainly not reflected in the price us the customer has to pay at the till.. Its for this reason primarily that Apple in particular, because their products do not allow adding expandable memory of your own in the form of cheap to buy cards, that nobody in their right mind buys the 64gig etc Iphones..I am aware that we are discussing my potential purchase of an Ipod Touch here but you see my point. Possible to use local variables in Calculation Manager

I'm using calculation manager in EPMA for the first time. Have not found any function for using "local variables", i.e. variables that can be used for fixing on the current members a user has selected in a form. Do someone know if it is possible to use that functionality in calculation manager? And in that case, how do I find it?

Hi,
I guess you are referring to local variables in Essbase Administration Console. When you are in calculation manager (System View), you can go to Tools->Variables. There you can create variables at application, database (global) or business rule level (local variable). You can use these in Business rules by placing the name in curly bracket {...}.
The usage of the variables in the forms is the same as before.
If however, what you meant to say by local variables is substitution variables, yes you can use them in Calc manager the same way you use in calc script.

I believe they are looking to have these interfaces to some of the  pro-apps. [Will stand corrected].
Whatever the archiver.app, it needs to know where the objects start and end on the data tape volume (e.g Ultrium LTO4]. THis is simply done by knowing the BLOCKID ofthe first block of the file(s) that have been archivied on the tape (this was retrieved when the ARCHVE operation was done via RED BLKID cmd). This is simplest form. That way the software can "+LOCATE BLOCK scsi tape cmd+" to that spot on that tape volume using HIGH SPEED SEARCH and read in what it needs.
Some rather spiffy .apps like SGL's FLASHNET for OSX and others (DIVARCHIVE on windows) will resolve a TCR to a location DATA TAPE volume based on the known codec or in SGL's case, the interface through it's MXF archive implementation. This could be very hand for large high bitrate objects. .
I am waiting for this myself. It is currently in BETA.

I am unable to stream videos from my local public library on my iPad Air 2 using the Overdrive
Media Console App. I can stream videos on my older iPad 1st generation. Anyone else
having his problem?

The app gives you instructions to browse to the Overdrive site and put in your Zip Code. You can do this from Safari on the iPad. When you find your local library, you will be asked to log in with your Library Card and PIN. When you select compatible content, the Overdrive app will automatically launch, where it will give you the ability to download content segments, or even all segments. It will also help you keep track of when the book will expire etc. The books are broken up into many segments so that you can manage how much content is stored on your iPad. I did this just this morning, and downloaded 8 of 38 segments of the book 2666.
