Application Distribution

I hired a company through elance.com to build an application for me. They used AdHoc files to send me updates and request notes. At the end, they sent me their project file but offered to post it to the store for me. I said I'd consider it but that I'd like to learn to post to the store myself.
1) What private information would I have to give to them to let them post to the store for me?
2) If I give them that information, will it open me up to potential future problems?
I tried to follow the steps of the Development Provisioning Assistant to test the final version of my application. (I had the elance provider put my company logo at the beginning, and they didn't send me the final AdHoc.) I went through a number of the steps, but when I got to the step of "Build & Go", there was a failure. It seems to me that the elance provider's name matches the certificate.
3) Does this mean that I am unable to utilize this project file without going back to the provider?
4) What can I do to post this application myself?
Thanks in advance for your help.

I would think your provider is obliged to walk you through the process (that is what I do for my customers, although being local I do it for them on their laptop). I do not think it would be a good idea to hand over your account information to your provider. You can of course change your password later, but it still would not be a good idea.

  • TED Application distribution errors

We have a NW65 SP5 server running ZFS 7 SP1 with the latest IR patches.
I am trying to setup a TED application distribution for all our ZEN
applications and keep getting errors when ZFS is compiling the
applications. I have about 300 to send out, and the server keeps giving
    java.io errors as per below.
    Any takers?

  • Desktop Application Distribution with Files in ZFS 6.5

I'm trying to do a Desktop Application Distribution with a simple NAL and
can not get the files associated with the NAL to copy to the subscriber
server. I am using ZFS 6.5 SP1. I am using a mapped drive letter in the NAL
and have chosen "Keep the same source paths for the replicated objects" in
the distribution. I also have defined a variable in the service location
package as 'drive letter'='volume name' and associated this policy with the
container that the distributor and subscriber are in. I checked the box in
the subscriber's variable property to use this policy. The documentation
also says to use a SOURCE_PATH macro and 'Package Source List' to define the
mapped drive but I am unsure how those should be defined. Should they be
just a drive letter or the entire path to the applications files? Also, I'm
not sure if anything else is need to make this work.
Any Ideas of what I might need to do to get this to work?
    Thanks!
    John

    Graham,
Thanks for the suggestions. I thought this type of distribution still
worked in Zen 6.5. It used to work great for us under Zen 6 and I hadn't
seen anything that said it didn't work with Zen 6.5. We'll probably use a
second distribution for the short term and then try one of your other
suggestions or see if we can find another way that works better.

  • Adobe AIR Application Distribution

I have a client that requested me to do them a CD application
which I am thinking of using Adobe AIR.
Does the distribution license allow Adobe AIR applications
made using Flex or Flash be published through CD-roms and for
downloads? Are there any implications for this?
Also, does the license allow if say Adobe AIR player is put
together with the Adobe AIR application into a CD for distribution
so that if a computer does not have Adobe AIR player to install the
AIR application, he/she can install the player directly from the CD
    without going to the Internet?

    AIR does not support running applications from a CD-ROM;
that's both a technical and a licensing limitation.
You can redistribute both AIR and your application via
CD-ROM, thus enabling off-line install, if you agree to a
    redistribution license. See
    http://www.adobe.com/products/air/runtime_distribution1.html
    for details.

  • LabView 8 for Linux application distribution

I have build an application for Linux using labview application builder.
I now have a app.o file, but the application builder does not create a distribution package (unlike the windows application builder where it creates a data.cab that contains the application and runtime engine parts).
How do I distribute the runtime engine components (or know what they are and where they are)?
How do I tell an end-user how to install my program and the runtime engine?
Note:  This application does not interface any hardware.  It reads a file using the command line and writes another file.

If the built application does not use any NI drivers, or NI-VISA then the only other component you will need is the LabVIEW Run-time Engine.  You can download the version of the LabVIEW RTE that matches the version you built the application with from our download site http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/fn/p/sn/n17:runtime,n19:Linux,n23:4/lang/en.
To install your application on another machine you should only need to install the LabVIEW RTE rpm(s) using rpm.:
    rpm -Uvh *.rpm
Then copy your binary file your built with the application builder to the new machine and run it.

  • Remote Control and MSI application Distribution

When I log into several machines remotely and NAL is launched, an MSI

If I login locally the application is distributed to all the machines

A bigger problem is your data access. an applet cannot access an odbc driver on the local machine. you must use a type 3 or type 4 driver. remember an applet is limited to what it can access on the local machine.

  • Best practices for Air application distribution

I am going to need to develop an AIR application. I am a bit confused how I will deliver updated version it when something has been changed. Will the users have to reinstall it every time I let them know that there is a newer version available? A reason I am asking is that with a web based applications I dont have that problem, every time I export newer version it becomes available immediately.

  • Application distribution Measurement studio

We have now developed a software application using Measurement Studio and VC++ for "capturing" live communication data from line as step 1 of the application and "analysing data" separately as step 2. We can do the 2 steps without any problem on a data acquisition machine. However, when we run the same application on a desktop PC (not a digitizer or not connected to digitizer) we expect the application to RUN only step 2. The question here is then, in order to set application up on a desktop PC (not a digitizer or not connected to digitizer) what changes I should do (in terms of un-tying NI scope acquisition functions)?
NI Software : Measurement Studio for Visual C++ version 7.0
NI Hardware : High-Speed Digitizers (Scopes) device PXI-5122
Driver Version : NI Scope 2.6
    OS : Windows XP

    THanks for response.
    >>> Aha, I didnt realize that you were using the C++ scope classes. The scope driver does not >>> get loaded until the very first call to the scope class. So you would not need to setup >>> delay loading nor would you use LoadLibrary or GetProcAddress.
Our application was developed using MFC VC++ 2003 .NET edition. Sorry I missed the details.
    >>> You will get an exception when you use the CNiScope constructor and if the system does >>> not have the scope driver installed.
Exactly, I do get an exception when I use the CNiScope constructor. However, what I do is create CNiScope 2 times. The first time a dummy construction is done with function like this...
    bool CMainFrame:copeExists(void)
    bool scopeExists = true;
    CString errorMsg = "NiScope device absent.\r\nNo Scope controls will be available";
    try
// Instantiate a scope to test is it exists
    CNiScope ProbeScope ("PXI1Slot2", false, false, "");
    catch (CNiIviException* e)
    e->Delete();
    AfxMessageBox (errorMsg, MB_OK | MB_ICONEXCLAMATION);
    scopeExists = false;
    return scopeExists;
I use the returned boolean to identify if scope driver is PRESENT or ABSENT in the system. Using this boolean result I then do the actual scope dialog bar and CNiScope construction (the second time is when the actual CNiScope is created and used).
    If boolean is FALSE
no scope dialog bar controls is created
only the analyses dialog bar controls are created
    else
application starts up with scope and analyses dialog controls
    >>> Are you using the .NET class libraries? Or is this just MFC code?
Just MFC code with Measurement Studio
    >>> For a list of components that need to be distributed, refer to the Measurement Studio Help topic Distributing Measurement Studio Visual C++ Applications.
This was helpful to the extent that I got the active X controls loaded and distributed with application. But analyses part of application crashes when it tries to use the CNi such as CNiMatrices, CNiReal64Vector. I found this using the debugged in Microsoft's VC++ .NET 2003.
    >>> Are you checking for exceptions when you start the analysis routines?
I do have a few exceptions being checked. However, can you tell the exceptions you have in mind that need to be included.
    >>> Is this crash happening on the development machine or the deployment machine?
The crash is happening only on machines NOT having scope drivers. I tried on a 2 machines.
One WITH Measurement Studio and WITHOUT scope controls - it crashes
Second WITHOUT Measurement Studio and WITHOUT scope controls - it crashes
Is there something I am missing??
    >>> Could you provide more information about the crash, perhaps a code snippet or a sample app ( with only the analysis section).
    Here is code snippet....
m_digIntpolRowLength and m_digIntpolCoeffRows are unsigned int types.
m_farrowFilterCoeff is CNiReal64Matrix type. This is the first moment in application when a CNi is used. When the matrix elements are loaded with values, it crashes at the line
    m_farrowFilterCoeff(0,0)=0.00252;.....
I know this may or may not give you whole lot of information. If we can go offline from discussion forum (becuase of proprietary information), I can provide more details about application etc. Thanks.

  • Desktop application distribution on windows

    Hi everybody.
My app configuration files are formed by:
    - all-users configuration xml files (modifiable by admin)
    - user specific configuration (modifiable by each user)
If I should install it on windows, is there some automated software/script to save different config files in right places?
    Thanks in advance
    Agostino
    Edited by: agostino75 on Sep 2, 2010 5:18 AM

No, you can't do that because Java is platform independent.
If you want to interact with your OS, you must create your own native interface (JNI).

  • Loss of application folder after distribution

I am having the same problem as detailed in TID 3193227 except that it is
ZfS 6.5sp2 not 7 and the "overwrite existing target folder..." is not
checked on any application distribution. Each time the distributions
are "pushed" via TED, the application folder structure is removed from the
distributed apps. Checked all distributed apps because I was told by a
MCNE that just one distribution with the box checked would cause that
problem. Has anyone seen this with ZfS 6.5sp2? Thanks!

    > Hi Warren,
    >
    > The issue is caused by an option that was added as an enhancement, it
allows you to select if the folder needs to be overwritten or not. If you
use a folder object you typically don't want to overwrite but when custom
folders are used on the application object you do want to overwrite.
Unfortunately the default behavior that was chosen when this option was
added conflicts with how this worked in the past and as such it has
confused many admins using folder object. I have asked to change the
default for this option within the snapins as I think not overwriting the
folder (and wiping out others that share the same folder object) should be
the default. Not sure if this will be done at some point.
    >
    > For now, indeed distributing a single distribution that has overwrite
enabled could delete all other apps from the folder. Detecting the problem
distribution shouldn't be too difficult as that's the application that is
in the folder. The unfortunate thing is that to re-populate the folder
object you either need to fill the folder object manually or re-extract
    the other app distributions.

    Thanks Ron
The re-extract is what I was thinking after my last post because the
manual method is getting old! Thanks for confirming what I was thinking
but implementation in a public school system will be tricky! But that is
for me to solve. Thanks again.

My LabVIEW Program can save the Whole Hierarchy of the Top-Level vi with all needed SubVis, but I need the Controls also, otherwise
my LabVIEW Program can not run.
Is there a possibility to use the Option "Save for Application Distribution" programatically?
    Thanks for help.

    hi
    2 suggestions:
    - change all of your controls to TypeDefs or Strict TypeDefs. Then the control will appear in the list of the callees of a vi.
    - add a Custom Runtime Menu to your App. Add the Application Item "Save with Options.." to the RTM. By doing so the Dialog Appears when the menu item has been selected.

  • Error during distribution for compiled code generation-Reply

    Hi,
Looking at your error messages, it looks as though your build is failing during the code generation phase of an autocompilation. To determine why the code generator crashed, either look in the $FORTE_ROOT/log/forte_ex*.log files or don't use autocompilation and use fcompile.
There are many reasons why the code generator could crash. Some of the things I've come across are running out of memory and trying to find invalid classes.
If its the invalid class problem you'll find a message like:
    Generating code for partition BLTCustomWindow_cl0_Part1.
ERROR: Exiting due to following exception:

exception. See the remainder of the error stack for more information.

The solution for this instance is to clean up the invalid classes using the c4tstdrv utility.

    c4tstdrv > commit

Integrate the changes to the workspace, start the build again and this should have cured the problem.
However, its hard to know what the cause of your problem is without seeing the output in the log files.
    Good luck.

    Hi,
I'm doing application distribution for my application using a fscript
script and am forcing compilation on 2 of my partitions.
This I have been doing from quite sometime successfully. Recently I
developed a new service and plugged it into my application for
    deployment.
I'm successfully able to distribute & deploy the interpreted code. But
I'm getting a long list of system errors when I try doing distribution
for compiled code. And I see only one of the .exe generated instead of
two because of which I'm unable to go ahead with installaion. I would
appreciate if anybody let me know why this's happening ?. The following
is the main chunk of this error list.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
If this INCLUDE is in a function group go the MAIN program and activate from there.
Can you list out the include name?

  • How can I distribute an application using Reprot generation Toolkit for MS Office for different versions of MS Office?

I want to create an application which uses the Report Generation Toolkit for Microsoft Office. The office version of the target machine depends on what my customer has installed.
From several discussions I have seen that the installer detects which version I have on my development machine. I'm not able to hold three or four machines with different versions (97,2000,2002,XP).
I decided to do the following software architecture:
I create a LLB MakeReport.llb with a VI called MakeReport.vi. With VI server I will start MakeReport.vi in MakeReport.llb. Over a named queue I will send a command from my application to MakeReport.vi. Then the report will be
    printed.
I will create this LLB by saving MakeReport.vi with File>>Save with options...>>Application distribution. All neccessary VIs will be in the LLB.
I will hold different directories for each version. I can create different version of the LLB. During installation of my application the LLB for the right version will be copied from the CD to the application folder.
I know I will be restricted in testing my report in only one version and hoping it will be good in the other versions.
I think that the difference lays only in the word and excel related llbs.
    1. Will my software architecture work or is it obviously wrong?
    2. How will I get all versions from the toolkit CD?
    3. Which is the registry key I must read to get the right version (a minor question, if somebody knows I do not need to search for myself).

Lookout saves the files in .csv form which can be opened in Excel. I did make some progress by using the "append table to report" vi which allowed me to put values into an array and then those values were entered into my template on my report vi.
Where I am stuck now is I want to be able to put values into my template from a .csv file, not from an array I have to manually put numbers in.
Once those values are in my template I want to pull summed values from the template and place them into a final excel file for printing.
I have attached examples of the files I am working with to help you better understand what I am trying to do.
    I hope that makes sense.

  • Error during distribution for compiled codegeneration

    Hi,
I'm doing application distribution for my application using a fscript
script and am forcing compilation on 2 of my partitions.

I was able to resolve this. The error seems to be very misleading.
Actual problem was with the configuration of Accounting Codes and Valuation areas. The currency of the company code was wrongly mentioned for the US GAAP valuation area. Instead of putting in the company code currency which is AUD for us they put in the Group currency which is USD.
    Thanks,
    Raj
