Application is causing exception c000001d on a certain computer in 64-bit mode

Hi,
my testing application, available as 32/64 for XP and newer, is working almost everywhere. But I had just a second report that on a certain i7 system with Windows 7 an exception c000001d occurs and the app doesn't even start. Here's the log:
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH

What could cause this? How can I check the potential problem? Is there a way to view what code is on the address 0000000000caeb53 in Visual
Studio Express 2013?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Just to clarify this issue, is it the time that project throw exception when debugging that project with your VS2013?
If not, and if you have the source code, I would recommend you debug it with VS2013 to get which line throws this exception.
In addition, since this is a development issue, I would recommend you consider posting this issue in develop forum depends on the language you are using.

    What are you doing with your program. Lots of improper programming techniques can cause this - building arrays, concantanating strings, opening but not closing refrences, etc. Need more details or post your VI. Also, have you looked at "LabVIEW Performance and Memory Management"? It's part of the shipping documentation and available from Help>Search the LabVIEW Bookshelf.

    Does this have anything to do with the old AMD ATHLON XP 1800 which is running on my PC? It is just SSE, not SSE2.

  • I want Firefox to open to my homepage every time after it crashes. I do not want it to return to the tabs and applications that caused the crash. I am willing to lose information. How do I do this?

    Firefox crashes or seizes up when there are too many tabs and applications open, and causes my computer to crash or seize up. I use task manager to close Firefox or I restart my computer. Then, when Firefox restarts again, it automatically re-opens all the tabs and applications that caused the computer to seize or crash in first place. This is a waste of my time. I want Firefox to reopen to my homepage even if it crashes. I am willing to lose information to have Firefox reopen to a low-memory homepage. How do I do this?

    Set the Integer pref browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes to 0 on the about:config page to get the about:sessionrestore page immediately with the first restart after a crash has occurred or the Task Manager was used to close Firefox.
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes
    That will allow you to deselect the tab(s) that you do not want to reopen, but will allow to reopen other tabs.

    To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
    If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />
    *Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
    *Preferences that have been modified show as bold (user set).

  • What setting/application is causing N97 (20.0.027)...

    Hello,
    I have a Nokia N97 RM-505 black with firmware v20.0.27
    Before updating to 20.0.27, I reset the phone with the so called 3 finger salute:
    (shift, space, backspace, power button to start), then formatted mass memory, then deleted anything deletable
    on c/e drives, then reset to factory setting, and applied 20.0.27 without problems.
    I have a lot of applications installed on it, mostly free or purchased from handango
    (I don't use ovi store since they don't let me download what I bought for backup).
    It took several days to install the applications, I also downloaded a lot of maps to the phone,
    as well as mp3s.
    The phone worked beautifully, with all installed apps it had around 45MB free,
    and responded reasonably quickly.
    the problems started when I attempted to restart the phone, it got stuck on
    the white startup screen with the blue nokia (so called white screen of death).
    After having to do a hard reset and reinstall all several times (not fun),
    I googled for a solution (removing/replacing batter and restarting didn't work
    after hundreds of attempts. Finally I found a consistent workaround on this forum.
    Namely:
    1. Make sure phone is not fully charged (at most 2 bars)
    2. Shutdown  phone
    3. Disconnect usb cable, and remove battery
    4. Replace battery
    5. Reconnect usb cable until you see not only the blue nokia but the animated charging icon on top
    (you may have to disconnect and reconnect the usb cable several times for it to show up,
    if you don't see it I found it helpful to disconnect the cable from both sides on subsequent attempts)
    6. Once you see the charging icon, quickly press and hold the phone power button
    (it may not vibrate like you're used to)
    until you see the shaking hands connecting people animation and the phone starts
    7. tada, you may now use the phone
    If it wasn't for 1 downside, I could almost live with this workaround since I have chargers both at home at work,
    the downside is that when you do this the phone will be stuck in portrait mode.
    Keep in mind that even on 20.0.27 (in fact on all version of the firmware) and even
    on the original store bought factory settings phone with nothing installed,
    starting the phone while it's charging may cause it will sometimes get stuck in portrait mode.
    (forcing you to restart after disconnecting the usb cable)
    The difference is when using starting N97 while charging as a workaround for
    the white screen of death issue, the phone is guranteed to be stuck in portrait mode,
    instead of it only occasionally happening.
    In any case, hoping to break the cycle, I took a full backup with ovi Suite 2.0.1.35.
    (All checkboxes checked including applications and data).The backup is around 7GB.
    I am hoping to do a hard reset (shift, space, backspace, power button),
    then format mass memory,
    then restore the backup in hopes that I will be able to boot up the phone
    without it crashing.
    I'm worried about doing this since I've never restored an ovi suite backup before,
    I'm also worried because the ovi suite has been very poorly coded to begin with.
    2.x is better than the prehistoric 1.X the phone came with
    (try opening ovi app maanger on 1.x with 20+ apps installed)
    but still even 2.x is beta quality at best,
    and it returns strange error codes when i sync contacts.
    I have the following questions:
    1. Will following the above restore procedure restore all my applications,
    music and map data ? has anyone tried it ?
    2. There is a distinct possibility that the white screen of death issue will not be resolved
    by the restore, in which case I badly need some method to determine what
    setting and/or what application is causing the WSOD to begin with.
    Preferably some sort of bootup or system log ? Is there even such a thing ?
    Keep in mind that when the phone is turned off, and the usb cable is connected,
    and the phone is charging mass memory is visible on the PC it is connected to in
    windows explorer. Strangely, that is the only time when the sys/system/private
    folder content are also visible.
    In any case If I can determine what application (if any) is causing the issue,
    I'd be happy to give up using it and uninstalling it,
    (it beats having a $2000 brick).
    3. Is there some method to apply the power on while charging workaround described above,
    without having the device get stuck in portrait mode ?
    I should mention I also opened a ticket with Nokia support with the same 3 questions,
    but I have my fingers crossed, and expect them to simply ignore the questions,
    and ask me to either reset it or take it back to the service center. I also requested,
    that on some future firmware they consider having some key combination,
    to allow starting the phone in (safe mode) with no extra apps or installations on bootup.
    I also suggested a visible detailed. bootup log on the root mass memory folder to allow
    troubleshooting such issues (if they're worried it can affect performance,
    it can be enabled by an option). I don't expect either option to be implemented though.
    Nevertheless I would say the WSOD is currently the number one problem with N97 today,
    it's a complete showstopper.
    The only other issue I suffered after the 20.0.27 upgrade was the stuck lock issue,
    where if you click the power button,
    and selct lock phone and keys, it is impossible to unlock the phone with the keyguard key on the  side of the phone
    (it just doesn't do anything). but that has a workaround (have someone call your phone,
    then swipe the bottom line right to left to unlock (the top line left to right answers the call).
    Cheers and if you've read all of this, thank you for your patience.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    I think you may be referring to my workaround, as posted here (and various other forums):-
    /discussions/board/message?board.id=smartphones&thread.id=179596
    I've posted a few times about this. It's not an exact science, and having done it several times since this posting, I've realised that it is not necesary to actually "see" the charging icon. I really only mentioned it so you would recognise what's happening.
    The fact is that, with the phone switched off, and then plugged into either the mains power supply, or the PC, by the USB cable, the screen on the phone shows white, as it starts to charge. Whether or not the "charging" icon starts to flash depends on the state of charge of the battery. If it is already full, then the white screen will go off after a while, as the phone doesn't need to be charged.  If the battery needs charging, then then flashing icon will show.
    This is all largely irrelevant . I only tried this "charging" thing in the first place to distract the phone from whatever problem is stopping it from going through its normal boot process. I thought if I could get the processor doing something else at the time I pressed the power button, it might just pass straight by the boot problem. Given the fact that it has been successful, my guessed logic seems to have been near the mark.
    All this logic comes from many years of supporting PC systems. As has been said, this is only a workaround. The reason I've had to do this, is because I've had to do it many times since installing firmware V20.
    Now, I have an unbranded UK model, code 0585162. I waited ages for V20, and, in the end, changed the code to get the euro V20. Since the UK V20 has been released, I've been wondering what the difference is, if anything, between the versions.
    So today, as I do with my PCs every now and again, I had a good clearout of my phone, and rebuilt it from scratch, using the proper UK V20. I do this with Windows PCs every now and again. It gets rid of all the partially installed and uninstalled apps, temporary files, etc etc.
    To prepare, I connected my phone to my PC via USB, and copied the whole of the E drive onto the PC. I gathered together all my downloaded .sis files, .wgz files etc, and made a list of all installed apps to make sure I had all the downloaded installation files.
    I "backed up" my phone using PC Suite. I also use Ovi Suite sometimes, but I find PC Suite better, simpler, more technically reliable for "techy" tasks. When you do a backup, you are asked what you want to backup. Since all my music and photos are already on my PC, I don't need to back them up. Similarly my Contacts and Calendar are on the PC. For me the important thing to backup is my phone Settings. By only backing up the Settings, the backup is very quick.
    Having made sure I had all my original stuff safely stored on my PC, I then reinstalled the Firmware release V20.
    First I did factory reset *#7370#
    Then I formatted the E drive.
    Then I ran NSU to look for, then reinstall the UK V20 frirmware.
    I then did another *#7370#, to be sure.
    Then I restored the Settings from my backup
    Then I copied the old E drive contents back from the PC (having deleted all the stuff I really didn't need)
    And finally I reinstalled all my downloaded apps.
    It's only been 24 hours, but so far my phone hasn't frozen at the white screen with the Nokia logo.
    Fingers crossed.
    As I said earlier, as with PCs, its good, every now and again, to reformat the hard disk and do a fresh install of Windows, then re-install your apps. My laptop seems to be slowly grinding to a halt, so I'm about to do the same for it.
    More fingers crossed.

  • A photo upload application in my business software will no longer work, as I keep getting the message "Application Error General Exception"; how can I fix this?

    Continuing from the original question above...
    The full error message reads:
    Application Error
    General Exception
    Name: com.aurigma.imageuploader.ImageUploader
    ClassNotFoundException: com.aurigma.imageuploader.ImageUploader.class
    This seems to be tied in with an update to Java 7, but my software won't allow me to proceed w/o the update. As soon as I update Java, the system gets corrupted and I just continually get the above message. I've done all I know to do, and I'm on my 4th 'restore', all the way back to June 14th. I really need this resolved, as my livelihood depends, in part on uploading pix I take in the field.
    I'm using a 2.3Gh dual-core PC w/ 4 Gs of RAM on a totally updated WIndows XP operating system using Mozilla Firefox.
    PLEASE, if there's a fix readily available, or if you can help me find one, I would be most seriously grateful.
    Thank you!!!

    Does this software run in Firefox, or is it a stand-alone program?
    Assuming it is a stand-alone program:
    If you need to stick with an older version of Java until that software is updated, you can disable Java in your web browers to protect against its vulnerabilities. Naturally this will disable some website features (for example, this uploader on sites that use it). To disable Java in all browsers, you can use the Java control panel, security tab and uncheck the box to use Java in browsers.
    (I don't know whether that takes effect immediately or after exiting and restarting the browsers.)

  • Java mapping of application triggered an exception

    Hi,
    We have ascenario where a vendor will be sending us a cXML file which has the second line as <!DOCTYPE cXML SYSTEM "http://xml.cxml.org/schemas/cXML/1.2.009/InvoiceDetail.dtd">. If I open it in XMLSpy, it is saying the file as invalid. XI is unable to map this file. So we decided to remove that line using Java mapping and then do the regular graphical mapping.
    I took the java code from the SAP note 812966 and used the aii_map_api.jar, dom.jar, jaxp-api.jar to create the class of that java file and used that class file by importing that into XI as a jar file.
    I'm getting this error in the request message mapping of SXMB_MONI

    I'm new to this java mapping, Can you please provide me some details about what files need to be loaded into the XI along with the class file.
    Appreciate you help.
    Thanks,
    MT.

    Hi Prateek,
    Thanks for your quick reply. Yes I have downloaded the aii_map_api.jar from <SAP_install_dir>/<system_name>/<instance_name>/j2ee/cluster/server<number>/apps/sap.com/com.sap.xi.services/
    And also I have compiled my java code using the dom.jar, sax.jar, jaxp-api.jar and aii_map_api.jar.
    I took the class file of my javacode and all the class files of the above mentioned jar files and prepared one single jar file, which I imported into XI.
    It is not allowing me to make a single jar of the actual class file and all the supporting jar files.
    What is the actual method of doing it.
    Appreciate all your help. Thanks very much.
    Thanks,
    Maulik.

    Panels like this one are mid sized, containing 10 - 20 sub VIs.  I stripped the panel down to try and find what exactly was causing LV 8.5 to crash.  It turns out to be the digital graph.    I have attached a very simple panel that just contains the digital graph with nothing wired to it.  If you try to run this in 8.5 I am guessing it will cause the problem.  I tried it on a few PCs and get the same results.
    Attachments:
    main.vi ‏20 KB

    Looking at my disks, version 6 appears to have been the first release to support digital graphs.  I remember using as soon as it was available.
    I tried several tests to see if I could further narrow down the problem for NI.
    I am able to load the raw version 6.0 examples directly into 8.5.
    1) I saved version 6.0 example  "Simple Digital Waveform Graph" (SDWG) into a seperate VI.   It loads in both 6.1 and 8.5 with no exception.
    2) Loaded main.vi example and copied it into the SDWG using 6.1.   Causes exception in 8.5
    3) Connect the two graphs together in example so digital data is shown on both graphs, then saved the values as defaults.  This version loads in 8.5 with no exception.
    4) Start with main.vi, clear all the waveform data and save as defaults.  Causes exception in 8.5
    So, problem appears to have nothing to do with the cursors but does appear to be something with the data that had been stored into this graph when the defaults were saved.   It is really strange that clearing the data does not solve the problem.  Maybe this is a bigger problem than I originally thought.

  • Application Error   General Exception

    Everytime I leave a pogo game it say Application Error General Exception Jave.lang.Null Pointer Exception: null pData. How do I fix this?

    Hi,
    I'm receiving the same error whenever the JRE is running and I close IE. So, basically I get this error when closing IE after visiting any website that uses an applet. Everything seems to work fine until the time comes to close IE.
    I am using IE 7 and Java Plug-in 1.6.0_07. I have tried uninstalling then reinstalling Java (there were several Java entries in my Windows Control Panel - Add / Remove Prorams).
    When I try to close IE, I get a pop-up dialog that says "General Exception" Name: applet name (this value changes depending on what applet currently running). java.lang.NullPointerException: null pData.
    When I click Details, I see a stack trace below:

    Hi.
    What jdk version is currently installed on your solaris 8 machine? If it is not
    already a 1.3.x version I suggest you install that first and put the bin directory in
    your path. You might also check with Sun to see if there are any relevant OS patches
    required by your jdk (or jdk 1.3.1) in order to run.
    Regards,
    Michael

  • Finally cause Exception be forgotten

    In trying out that finally cause previous return value be forgotten, as described on page 206 of "The Java Programming Language, 3rd edition", I wrote the following code, and tested it with jdk1.3.1. To my supprise, not only the return value was forgotten, the exception was appeared forgotten as well:
    class PException extends Exception {
    class Final {
        void f1(int i) {
         int result;
         System.out.println("f1("+i+")");
         try {
             result = f2(i);
             System.out.println("result = " + result);
         } catch(Exception e) {
             System.out.println("caught an Exception: " + e);
         try {
             result = f3(i);
             System.out.println("result = " + result);
         } catch(Exception e) {
             System.out.println("caught an Exception: " + e);
        int f2(int i) throws PException {
         try {
             if (i == 1) {
              System.out.println("generate exception");
              throw new PException();
             return 1;
         } finally {
             return 2;
        int f3(int i) throws PException {
         if (i == 1) {
             System.out.println("generate exception");
             throw new PException();
         return 1;
        public static void main(String[] args) {
         Final f = new Final();
         f.f1(1);
         f.f1(2);
         f.f1(1);
    }Here is the result:
    f1(1)
    generate exception
    result = 2
    generate exception
    caught an Exception: PException
    f1(2)
    result = 2
    result = 1
    f1(1)
    generate exception
    result = 2
    generate exception
    caught an Exception: PException

    The concern here is that when the
    try {
    finally {
    }pattern is used, without the catch block, purelly for flow control purpose, a return statement in the finally block could be problematic. If a finally block ends with a return statement, any exception that might be thrown in the try block would be ignored. The unhandled exception will not propergate, it simply lost in the midst. Because any code could throw unchecked exception, if the exception cannot afford to be lost, then one should be careful not to use return in the finally block. See the following test code:
    class Finally {
        void test() {
         int result;
         System.out.println("test()");
         try {
             result = f1();
             System.out.println("result = " + result);
         } catch(Exception e) {
             System.out.println("Caught an Exception: " + e);
         try {
             result = f2();
             System.out.println("result = " + result);
         } catch(Exception e) {
             System.out.println("Caught an Exception: " + e);
         try {
             f3();
         } catch(Exception e) {
             System.out.println("Caught an Exception: " + e);
         try {
             f4();
         } catch(Exception e) {
             System.out.println("Caught an Exception: " + e);
        int f1() {
         System.out.println("f1()");
         int a = 0;
         int b = 0;
         try {
             a = 1/0;  // this generate an unchecked exception
             b = 1;
         } finally {
             return b; // this return clobber the unchecked exception
        int f2() {
         System.out.println("f2()");
         int a = 0;
         int b = 0;
         a = 1/0; // this generate an unchecked exception
         b = 1;
         return b;
        void f3() {
         System.out.println("f3()");
         int a = 0;
         int b = 0;
         try {
             a = 1/0;  // this generate an unchecked exception
             b = 1;
         } finally {
             return;   // this return clobber the unchecked exception
        void f4() {
         System.out.println("f4()");
         int a = 0;
         int b = 0;
         try {
             a = 1/0;  // this generate an unchecked exception
             b = 1;
         } finally {
        public static void main(String[] args) {
         Finally f = new Finally();
         f.test();
    /code]
    Here are the results:test()
    f1()
    result = 0
    f2()
    Caught an Exception: java.lang.ArithmeticException: / by zero
    f3()
    f4()
    Caught an Exception: java.lang.ArithmeticException: / by zero
    We see that the devide by zero exception throw by f1() simply vanished, the unintended result 0, instead of the intended result 1, is returned. The test() method did not detect any abnormality in f1(), which is scary. To drive the point home, we try f3() and f4(), which has void return type. A simple return statement in f3() causes exception be lost. The stack frame seems intact, for otherwise, the test() method would exit abruptly before f2() even get a chance to be called.

    when i run this code it causes exceptions at its own sweet locations when i run it separately.if once it displays some valid input it would then be followed by the exception
    next time if i run it it will throw exception as soon as i run it at the very start without displaying even an iota of valid data like the previous case
    is ti because the os is placing restrictions on the threads growth or something else.incase there is an error in my code it should atleast pop up the exceptions at one particular loaction in the output and not give different outputs

    1) When you post code, please use and tags as described in Formatting tips on the message entry page. It makes it much easier to read.
    wasnt aware of it.will keep it in mind i post nexttime.sorry for the inconvenience[\b]
    3) You have multiple threads, right? The scheduling of which thread gets how much CPU time when is not subject to your control or prediction, so of course you'll see different timings in subsequent runnings of the same code.[b]actually the problem is not with multiple threads showing different times.whats happening is that exceptions are being thrown randomly at runtime.once when i ran it the exception was displayed at the very beginning of the output and the program snapped.next when i ran it first some output which was slated to be displayed got displayed and then the exceptions appeared in the output.now if the exceptions are thrown at the very beginning its obvious theres some problem at the background coz in the second case that never happened[\b]
    i guess the formatting tips have taken effect[:D]

  • Will adding a second ADFS Web Application Proxy cause service disruption

    Today I have attempted to add a second ADFS WAP server to an existing (working) ADFS solution based on 2012 R2.
    I am able to install and configure the required role/services successfully but then I'm presented with the Remote Access Management console. This shows the two WAP servers but not the existing published application from the original WAP server and only seems
    to let me Publish a new application.
    I'm not sure if I should go ahead and run the Publish Application wizard again in case it impacts on the existing application and causes disruption to the service/users.
    Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Cheers for now
    Russell

    the config for the Web Application Proxy is stored in the ADFS v3 configuration database.
    As soon as you add a new WAP to the farm it will get its config from the database
    WAP can be domain joined or not. The reason for having it be domain joined is if you need to manage the system centrally and you need to leverage Kerberos Constrained Delegation for Windows based apps
    If you have more than one WAP, you should use some kind of load balancing mechanism such as either Windows NLB or a hardware loadbalancer
    adding a new WAP should not impact, you just need to make sure it is actually used
