Application modules in jsp uix jdeveloper9i

I have an application module with customer table as the top driving table to get customer information. I have a seperate application module that has phone table as the top driving table in a master detail to my customer. I now want to take the customer number from the customer table based off the phone search and pass it to my other application module, so that I can edit that customer. I can not find a way to pass customer number from the same customer table in one application module to another application module. I have to keep these seperate so I can search by phone number or customer number. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I have tried nested modules, and passing values between jsp pages but get error with rowkey.

  • Application module sharing

    I need to share the same application module between bc4j uix xml's
    and my event handlers in java. I think it's a common problem but
    documentation says nothing about this. How can I realize this.
    Thanks, Alex

    Define your applicationModules in a seperate project.
    Define your clients in their own projects. (all in the same workspace)
    Use the mechanisms in each client, to define a connection to the AppModule.
    In your client project, setup up a dependency to your BC4J project (or include the necessary libraries).
    If you use wizards to create your client code, it will set this up for you.
    Because you've got seperate projects, you can now deploy the middeltier and the clients independently.

  • How to use an application module custom method in JSP ?

    Hi,
    "TestAM" is an Application Module in which i added a method "TestClient()".
    in a JSP page i have :
    <jbo:ApplicationModule id="am" configname="TestAMLocal" releasemode="Stateful" />
    <jbo:DataSource id="ds" appid="am" viewobject="TestView" rangesize="3"/>
    <%
    My question is how to call the method "TestClient()" in my JSP after these 2 Datatags ?
    (i have exported this method so Jdev have generated the interface "TestAM.java")
    %>
    Thanks for help

    Here is how I did it in my app:
    <jbo:ApplicationModule id="am" configname="TestAMLocal" releasemode="Stateful" />
    <jbo:DataSource id="ds" appid="am" viewobject="TestView" rangesize="3"/>
    <%
    TestAM am2 = (TestAM) TestAM.useApplicationModule();
    am2.TestClient();
    %>
    Hope this helps.

  • Execute application module method automatically from uix page

    Hi,
    We are developping an application using Jheadstart 10.1.2.2 (build 32) with UIX pages as a view.
    We have build a custom method on our application module class that creates and saves in a directory a chart in function of a parameter we pass to this method.
    We would like to execute this method every time we acces a form page since this pages has to show the chart that our method creates. We would like to know if it is possible to execute this method automatically every time we acces this form page without having to press a button each time.
    Thanks in advanced.
    Xavier

    Xavier,
    I am not sure UIX works as JSPX and JHS 10.1.2 as 10.1.3, but that is what I would do if I wanted to execute a method on page load:
    1. Create a new managed bean(MyBean) in your faces-config which implements oracle.adf.controller.v2.PagePhaseListener interface
    2. Go to the pagedef file of your page, right click it in structure pane and set the controller class to 'MyBean'
    3. in MyBean and in beforePhase() method access App Module and call your function [see 4]. I quote this from ADF Dev.Guide 10.1.3 for how you can get App Module and call your function on it:
    // 1. Access the FacesContext
    FacesContext fc = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    // 2. Create value binding for the #{data} EL expression
    ValueBinding vb = fc.getApplication().createValueBinding("#{data}");
    // 3. Evaluate the value binding, casting the result to BindingContext
    BindingContext bc = (BindingContext)vb.getValue(fc);
    // 4. Find the data control by name from the binding context
    DCDataControl dc = bc.findDataControl("SRServiceDataControl");
    // 5. Access the application module data provider
    ApplicationModule am = (ApplicationModule)dc.getDataProvider();
    // 6. Cast the ApplicationModule to its client interface
    SRService service = (SRService)am;
    // 7. Call a method on the client interface
    service.doSomethingInteresting();
    4. Check the phase and call your function in beforePhase method of your MyBean (implementing PagePhaseListener)
    public void beforePhase(PagePhaseEvent event) {
    FacesPageLifecycleContext ctx =(FacesPageLifecycleContext)event.getLifecycleContext();
    if (event.getPhaseId() == MY_DESIRED_PHASE) service.doSomethingInteresting();
    Probably, there is a shortcut to all these, or an alternative approach, which I myself will be happy to know about.

  • JSP application module releasemodule

    I encounter some problems in my JSP pages. When I start my server the first time everything works fine, but when I visit some other pages sometimes I got this error without any reason:
    Application Error
    Return
    Error Message: null
    I think it has something to do with the releasemode of the application module. Some pages has the releasemode set to statefull because I have to pass a whole rowset to the next page. Can I pass a whole rowset to the next page with releasemode set to stateless??
    Another thing that looks strange to me is that the rowset you selected is saved in the viewobject and not in the datasource. Even if you have 2 datasources with different names on the same viewobject you will always see the same rowset.
    If you make a query page and you get some resultrows from your search and then make a second page with just a browse structure. You will see in this browse page only the rows from the query of the previous page and not all the rows in the table, even if I write this <jbo:RefreshDataSource datasource="ds" />
    How is this possible, it seems to me that the RefreshDataSource tag is not working!!!
    So how can I refresh a datasource so that I can see all the rows of the table again????
    thanx,
    Lieven

    I have made these 2 test pages. When I make a search in test1.jsp and so get a part of the table as resultset and then go the test2.jsp I only see that part of the table in test2.jsp. What do I have to change or which function do I have to call to see the whole table in test2.jsp??? Changing the releasemode is not a solution because it has to stay on statefull for another part of my website.

  • BC4J/UIX: Multiple Application Modules / Database Connections

    My UIX application must have access to two databases. One is the main database for the application and the other contains lookup information. The lookup database is shared by many applications of different types. I need to display values in the UIX page and also create a composite view from tables in each database.
    My understanding of this is that a UIX page requires a root Application Module which can have nested application modules allowing construction of a complex application. It appears that a UIX page must be tied to the root Application Module and then the nested modules can be referenced and used later in the UIX page.
    Can I create a root Application Module that contains a nested application module that connects to a different database? If so, are there limitations in building associations between the AM's that use different databases?
    If this is possible, how do I do it? I have created separate projects: one for each of the databases I mentioned and one for the main application module in a separate project. I try to create a "New Business Components Package" and "EJB Entity Facades for existing Entity Beans". The two application modules do not appear. (I created jar files for each of them and referenced these as libraries in the root module project.) Is this the correct approach? I have not found documentation that shows me how to do this yet so I admit I could be completely off base.

    Okay, I figured out that I have to build all of the BC4J packages under the same project and that the EJB Entity Facades is not what I should be working with.
    Maybe I will figure out the rest before too long.

    Can you elabaorate a little more on what you mean by re running the application?I run the JSP inside JDeveloper 903.
    The error appears only in the log Windows, not in the page. I've note when running for the first time the application, the log error no appears. When i running for the second time and so, the error appears in the log window.
    I'm not sure, but the problem appeared when i migrated to JDeveloper 903 from 902. I the probem is not serious because i can't see my page and seems works fine.
    I gave the complete windows log with the error (sorry in my first post cut the fisrt lines and maybe could be important for you).

  • Which Web Client Framework? BC4J-JSP, UIX-JSP, UIX-XML, etc

    Trying to determine which, if any of the JDeveloper frameworks, to use for do web browser (HTML) clients.
    What are the pros/cons of BC4J-JSP, UIX-JSP, UIX-XML, etc?
    What are some common things you might rule out using one or more of the frameworks?
    I plan to be using BC4J, updating, inserting data (currently MS-SQL) and the apps will run on WebLogic 7 or Caucho Resin (webapps no EJB) in a cluster. I would like to be as RAD as possible and still be able to do what I need to do. One main concern is being able to add custom HTML/JavaScript for things like client side validation. I didn't see a way to do this when doing BC4J-JSP. Is that right?
    If I define any validation in the BC4J, will UIX utilized any of this to define a JavaScript validator or must it be redudantly defined?
    One other concern is what the framework requires in terms of architecture, like do I have to have sticky sessions in my web cluster or can it work fine stateless or stateful?
    For UIX-XML, how is this architected for performance? Specifically, is the XML effectively compiled and converted into something more efficient and performant or does it do XML parsing all the time? Is there any significant performance differences between the frameworks?
    Is there any significant difference in dealing with security? Anything in the framework to make it easier to handle certain users being able to see/edit different set of data?
    I have things like some groups can edit only certain entities (product info but not pricing), others only certain types of products (possibly subclass entities) and others situations where what fields than can edit varies. Obviously I can handle this programmatically, but I was wondering what the frameworks had to offer, especially in terms of having different views of the same data.
    Steve

    ...I am little confused then about how BC4J works and what is meant by "session" here.
    When you talk about appmodules in the plural, does this mean that there are potentially multiple instances of the same data on a single server or there is a common datastore with pending data and client specific stuff varying?
    The common datastore is the database. Each client (momentarily, during the span of their request) uses an instance of an application module from the pool. The pool can grow and shrink with load on your system and all of the various tuning parameters. Our doc on the AM Pool covers all the parameter settings and their users.
    What kind of "session" is this?
    It is an abstract notion of a session for a user. The implementation used for Web clients uses the HTTP Session Key as the session key. However, we have other session implementations (and you can provide your own to do custom stuff for more sophisticated needs). We don't store anything else in the HTTP Session to the best of my knowledge. This way in a cluster, the web container doesn't have to waste time propagating all of your serialized HTTP Session state among cluster members. This session key also include an id for the application module and together those provide the key to store your pending state in the database for the "Stateful == Managed State" feature.
    I assume that if I have a cluster which doesn't use session-to-same-server-affinity but uses JDBC for http-session persistance or distributed in-memory http-sessions then I cannot use stateful BC4J even though I can use http-sessions.
    You can use BC4J in this way because the browser will send a cookie that contains the key to your database-stored pending state. In this way, we work great in a server farm for failover and/or scalability reasons.
    Even if I use stateless BC4J, are there issues with round-robin'ng all requests to different servers in a cluster?
    As I said, both our Stateless and Stateful features are designed to be used in Server farms, no problem.
    BTW I wouldn't necessarily say you picked the wrongs terms for the modes, but I know what you mean. There's problems with these terms. I am trying to explain to my mgrs/engineers that there is some state in stateless transactions - that simply making everything "stateless" doesn't mean don't lose anything in a disastrous failure. I am arguing to get support for sessions in our cluster, that the performance gain and simplified development is worth it as long as you put intelligent limits on what you store in the session. Right now, they are insisting on randomly sending requests into two entirely different data centers, with two different clusters.
    Amen. I have seen too many developers make the mistake of trying to be totally stateless, only to completely complicate their development environment with having to peristent partially-completed transaction data to the database. I've seen this done with sets of "Shadow" tables (yuck!) or using hand-written techniques similar to what BC4J provides a robust implementation of in the box.
    We've tuned our "Stateless With Affinity for Server Farms" model over several releases of carefully studying the performance of the Web apps built by our internal Oracle Applications teams using BC4J (over 20 of them now, and growing!) so compared with a hand-written strategy for your web-tier state management, using BC4J's implementation will be much more productive for you.
    We're tuning and tweaking and enhancing it even more for the 9.0.3 release as new needs are highlighted with continued use by our customers (both Oracle internal and external).

  • (IMP)Application module and database connection

    Hi,
    How application module pooling and database connection pooling is working ?
    Currently i m facing a problem like if i am creating 10 browser session then it doesn't mean that i'll have only 10 db sessions. While closing the browser session of application module time out respective db session is not removed.
    In this case, invalid db session are created in bulk which is crashing database sometime. We have writter script to kill those session periodically but in this case if application module is accessing such dbconnection then we are getting session killed error or not logged in error.
    To over come we need to bounce the server (middle tier).
    Is there any proper way to solve this or am i doing something wrong ?
    Please let me know if you need any more details.
    Thanks in advance

    Thanks for your prompt reply Ricky.
    I just found out that in some of the JSP pages in application
    <jbo:ReleasePageResources/> is not written. Should this problem arise because of this?
    could you please tell me how can I release page resources in UIX pages ?

  • How to configure Application module pooling?

    I want to know wheather bc4j container itself manages Application module pooling if yes then please tell me is there any file to set parameters for congiguration like one which we have for apache web server.
    If no then please let me know how to create applicatiom module pooling.
    Thanks in advance.

    Application module pooling is configurable through an application module configuration. In order to edit an application module configuration you may right click an application module and select Configurations...
    The BC4J data web beans and the BC4J JSP datatags are both application pool clients. The BC4J documentation includes descriptions of the application pool properties. The documentation also includes a code sample which illustrates how to write your own pool client.

  • Displaying a photo obtained from SAP R/3  in a Web Application Module

    Hi,
    I am currently developing a Web Application Module (through NWDS) which displays details of employees (name, last name, picture, etc...) obtained from a RFC function module called remotely through SAP JCA connector.
    I could obtain the picture passed through the RFC module, but now I need to displayed in a JSP page. I first start to look for a service which allows me to upload the picture to an application server cache as I have already done with
    IWDCachedWebResource
    in Web Dynpro development, but could not find anything alike. Then I tried to upload the picture to a relatively referenciable (Web Application) path, that I can use as a source for the IMG HTML tag, but I am just able to save the picture at the root directory of the application server (/usr/sap/SID/JC00/j2ee/cluster/server0) and this path can not (and must not) be referenced through my application JSP.
    Please any help or workaround will be gladly welcome
    Best regards,
    Jonathan

    Ravi,
    We have tried the same from SOAP UI client also and it is not working,
    same result as PI. But I repeat the Service is working from DOTNET applications.
    If it is not working in SOAP UI then it will not work in PI also. I suggest you to re-import the WSDL in you .net application and check.

    Ramesh

  • Best practice for application module  for scalability

    if i compare application module with forms 6i runtime session.(correct me if i wrong)
    In forms 6i, we create for single form for purchase entry. in which we select table like po , po_item, item_master, customer master
    also single form for sales entry. in which we select table like sales , sales_item, item_master, customer master, po , po_item
    So my question is. in jdeveloper , we planning to make separate jsp page and applicaiton module for purchase entry,
    separare jsp page and application module for sales.
    is it ok.
    or
    what is the best practice in this senario.?? ( or in scalability senario)
    if i made one single application module for whole application (let say 300 entity's(tables)) will performance of my app server degrade.

  • Application pool unable to check out application module instance in TOMCAT!

    Hi,
    I am able to run my bc4j application (WITH jsp CLIENTS) in JDEVELOPER just fine. But when I deploy it to TOMCAT, it gives me an error :
    "oracle.jbo.common.ampool.ApplicationPoolException: JBO-3003: The application pool WoopsBC4J.WoopsBC4JModule, failed to check out an application module instance"
    Can anyone tell me why this is happening?
    I have successfully deployed the sample ONLINEORDERS application to TOMCAT without any problem but this application somehow refuses to work.
    Is there anyone who encountered similar problems?
    Regards

    Chris, Here's the complete error message that I am receiving when I attempt to call the JSP page. I infact re-installed tomcat just to make sure that I don't have any old files that my application is referring to. So right now , I have only one application.

  • Invalid arguments in call for an Application Module

    We are writing a web-app which has two packages in our BC4J project, each with an Application Module. One of these app modules contains business components for objects owned by the user ILOGNET and the other for objects owned by the user EAGLE. We are allowing users to logon and connect to the database as themselves by specifying username and password dynamically as attributes of each instance of both application modules.
    The problem we are having is that for a particular JSP sometimes when we deploy, we get an "invalid arguments in call" error. Other times, it doesn't seem to be a problem. The user I am testing with has Oracle roles that have privileges to view all the necessary objects. I'm just not sure why it seems to be temperamental like this. Does anyone have any ideas ? The code for the problem JSP is shown below.

    I'd forgotten all about this until now when it just happened again. Seems strange that it works fine a lot of the time. It only seems to happen with one of the two Application Module's in the project.
    Here is the call stack. I'd appreciate any help.
    Thanks,
