"Application Server Url" Parameter / Registry Path / Interface

hi everybody,
i search for an possibilty to set the "Application Server Url" from oracle forms builder automatically. so an other application where the user can choose some properties, set the Url automatic without starting the forms builder itself.
is there any parameter or something like a registry path which i can set as url ?
thanks !
patrick

hi, i hope i can give you an good example..
so we have one product with more than one version .. .
for example: Extra v 1.0 and Extra v 2.0 , while we use source control we have to change some registry path when we switch between the version. But now the problem is:
Every Version has his own configuration in formsweb.cfg. Now when you want to work with Extra v1.0 you have to change the application server url for example to : "http://pc1.... =Extra1" and when you want use Extra2 than "http://pc1.... =Extra2" and so on...
I want to know, how i can change the server url automatic from another program, (by passing paramter etc.. )so the user have not to switch the application server url between Extra1 and Extra2 mannually.
what do you mean with As version ? Application Server version ?
thats: 10gR2

  • Get runtime application server url

I try to use web.show_document(url,target) and I don't know exactly the runtime url. It will be nice to retrieve it from form.
Is it possible to get the runtime application server url inside form? If so how?
    Thanks!

This was asked the other day on this forum and various suggesions came up - so have a search and see. However, there is no simple way.
On the other hand do you really need the App Server URL - you can use relative URLS with WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT if you neeed to..

  • How to control accessing Oracle Application Server URLs

    Hey all;
I wish you are all doing okay.
I am facing a problem with OAS Oracle Application Server; Since we switched form using forms 6i to OAS 10g running on the web browser of course using a URL for each application
The question is if I give a user a single URL for the application he is using and he just change his application name for example hr by payroll he will be able to open the payroll and run reports or even editing values!
How to restrict accessing the apps to only the authorized users on Oracle Application Server 10g?!

  • Regarding Application server file path

    Hi All,
please explain the process how to create logical file path in FILE t-code.

    Hi,
    logical file path
The (platform-independent) logical file path is evaluated at runtime to get the (platform-dependent) physical path (see Assignment of Physical Paths to Logical Path).
    Two examples of this are:
    · Logical file path: BW_OLAP_CACHE
    Name: BW OLAP Cache
    · Logical file path: BW_OLAP_CACHE_SPAN
Name: BW OLAP cache cross-application server
Assignment of Physical Paths to Logical Path
At runtime, the physical path assigned for the corresponding operating system platform is generated from the logical file path.
Since the physical path is platform-dependent, the customer must set it her/himself. The closer the file is to the application server or, with the cross-application server cache mode, to the application server, the faster it can be found and read.
    Log(ical) path: BW_OLAP_CACHE
    Name: BW OLAP Cache
Syntax group: UNIX (all Unix platforms)
Phys(ical) path: /usr/ (Syntax group WINDOWS NT)
In a heterogeneous system landscape (such as UNIX and Windows NT servers) all system-specific syntax groups must be maintained. Ensure that the definitions for the various syntax groups point to the same directory.

  • Configuring Forms Builder 10g to run (Ctrl-R) against application server

I would like to run forms from my working directory against our development application server and config, rather than having a local OC4J running. I have configured this by setting the application server URL runtime preference to "http://<server>.<domain>:80/forms/frmservlet?config=dev". This works fine.
However, when I run the Form, I get "FRM-40010: Cannot read form H:\Neil\TAF00180.fmx". This is because we open our FMBs from a locally mapped drive (i.e. I opened the FMB from H:\Neil\TAF00180.fmb). When run against the application server it seems Forms Builder trys to run an executable with the same path as the FMB - H:\Neil\TAF00180.fmx, but the application server has no knowledge of a mapped H-drive.
The only solution I can think of is to have an H-drive mapped on the application server to the same location as our locally mapped network drive.
This doesn't seem like the correct solution to me. How should we configure Oracle Forms 10g and the application server to allow us to run our own working versions against the applications server and config?

    Slava Natapov wrote:
I guess Neil concern is that OC4J and Forms Server are using own formsweb.cfg and .env files
    And settings can be different.
For example what if local formsweb.cfg configured to run Jinitiator, but server formsweb.cfg configured for JPI, or they configured with different lookandfeel parameter, or local and server default.env use different NLS_DATE_FORMAT?Hi Slava, Hi Neil
I think this is more related to "discipline" for the developers....
@ Neil : How many developers do you have in your team ?
Are developers allowed to "customize" their formsweb.cfg and .env files ?
or more customized basejinit.htm, registry.dat, additional jar files ... etc
or more using different oracle_home for their installation of Developer Suite.
@ Slava : Using local formsweb.cfg and .env files might not be a problem if every developer machine is installed the same way (i.e. the same oracle_home).
Also, I don't think that using workingDirectory to network shared connection for each developer is a solution
    [dev1]
    workingDirectory= H:/dev1
    [dev2]
    workingDirectory= H:/dev2
And at least this is requiring customized *.env files ! as the forms_path should be set for runtime in it for each developer.
The registry entry is only for the builder to find the path to mmb and pll files for example, and compile well, but the runtime is using *.env files.
And what about developing in windows and deploy it to linux ?
I recently managed a project with junior and undisciplined developers. The boss had the same concern about each network drive per developer.
My concern was how to eliminate all subjective considerations..
And my answer was "Subversion" no mess with local or network version with the "copy of the copy of the copy of the fmb files".
So all forms_path were set to C:\myApp\forms etc and each developer made a checkout and commit versions twice a day.
And the Application Server was also "checked out" to have the latest revision and then ran it into a pre-version for production.
If I had to make some important changes in the *.olb file or the *.pll files then I made a commit for all developers and then re-compile all *.fmb and re-commit and checkout again.
I really don't matter if the developer used jinitiator or jpi but the right working copy.
And standalone OC4J was enough to make basics tests for each developer.
More tests were made by project managers at the application server level and then adjustments (if required) where sent to developers.
    Hope this helps.

  • Regarding registry path of plx files

    Hi All
I have created a new library and referred it in one of the forms. But attaching library to the form requires the plx file path of the library to be mentioned in Form/Libr attachment section in Edit generator preference of the particular form.
Is there some some registry path which we can modify to put the path where all the plx files are kept. This will not require the attachment of library to the form explicitly.
Any help in this regard is appreciated.
    Cheers Sudhir

Did you include the path of the plx files in your Forms path?
And after you deploy your Forms to the Oracle Application server also include the path of the plx files to the Forms path in the environment file.

  • Viewing files on application server

    Hi,
Does anyone knows any path or transaction thorough which I can view all the files on application server ?
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Tushar.

    Hi
    Try this
    DATA FNAME(60).
    FNAME = '/tmp/myfile'.
    OPEN DATASET 'myfile'.
    OPEN DATASET FNAME.
This example works as long as your R/3 System is running under UNIX. The program opens the file "myfile" in the directory in which the R/3 System is running, and also opens the file "myfile" in directory "/tmp". However, you would have to change the filename for other operating systems. For example, for OpenVMS, you could write the following:
    FNAME = '[TMP]myfile.BIN'
    OPEN DATASET 'myfile.BIN'.
When you access sequential files on the application server using the following statements
    OPEN DATASET
    TRANSFER
    DELETE DATASET
the system automatically checks against table SPTH. This table regulates general read and write access from ABAP to files, and whether files should be included in security procedures.
In table SPTH, you can prevent read or write access to generically-specified files, independently of the R/3 authorization concept. For all other files (that is, those for which read and write access is allowed according to table SPTH), you can use the R/3 authorization concept to check authorizations. To enable you to do this, you can specify authorization groups in table SPTH for program-independent user authorization checks.
SPTH contains the following columns for this purpose:
    PATH
This column contains generic filenames. This means that the files on the application server to which an entry in this column applies, retain the attributes specified in the remaining columns of the line.
Suppose SPTH contains the following three entries in the column PATH:
    /tmp
    /tmp/myfile
The entries are then valid as follows:
    – First line: All files on the application server apart from the path ‘/tmp’
    – Second line: All files on the application server in the path ‘/tmp’ apart from the file ‘/tmp/myfile’
    – Third line: The application server file ‘/tmp/myfile’
    SAVEFLAG
This column is a flag that you set using ‘X’.
If the flag is set, the files specified in the PATH column are included in security procedures.
    FS_NOREAD
This column is a flag that you set using ‘X’.
If the flag is set, the files specified in the PATH column may not be accessed at all from ABAP. This flag overrides all user authorizations. If you set FS_NOREAD, FS_NOWRITE is also automatically set.
If the flag is not set, it is possible to access the files from ABAP if the authorization checks are successful (see also the FSBRGRU column and Authorization Check for Particular Programs and Files).
    FS_NOWRITE
This column is a flag that you set using ‘X’.
If the flag is set, the files specified in the PATH column may not be accessed for changing from ABAP. This flag overrides all user authorizations.
If the flag is not set, it is possible to change the files from ABAP if the authorization checks are successful (see also the FSBRGRU column and Authorization Check for Particular Programs and Files).
    FSBRGRU
This column contains the names of authorization groups.
An authorization group corresponds to the first field (RS_BRGRU) of the authorization object S_PATH. You can use the second field of the authorization object S_PATH (ACTVT) to check whether the user has authorization to read (value 3) or change (value 2) the files in he authorization group.
Entries in FSBRGRU specify groups of files on the application server. You can control the access to files by assigning authorizations for the authorization object S_PATH.
Unlike authorization checks using the authorization object S_DATASET (see Authorization Checks for Particular Programs and Files), the authorization check against the authorization object S_PATH is independent of the ABAP program used to access the files. Furthermore, the check is not restricted to individual files. Instead, it extends to all of the generically-specified files in the PATH column.
If there is no entry in the column FSBRGRU, the files in the column PATH are not assigned to an authorization group, and there is no authorization check against the authorization object S_PATH.
If the automatic check for a file access fails, a runtime error occurs.
Suppose the table SPTH contains the following entries:
    PATH
    SAVEFLAG
    FS_NOREAD
    FS_NOWRITE
    FSBRGRU
       X
    X
    /tmp
    /tmp/files
    X
         FILE
With these settings, ABAP programs cannot access any files on the application server apart from those in the path ‘(/tmp’).
All ABAP programs can read from and write to the files in that path.
Only users with authorizations for the authorization group FILE can use ABAP program that read from or write to files in the path ‘/tmp/files’. These files are also included in the security procedure.
With the above table entries, the following program extract would cause a runtime error for any user:
    DATA: FNAME(60).
    FNAME = '/system/files'.
    OPEN DATASET FNAME FOR OUTPUT.
Or you can use transaction AL11
    Regards,
    Amit.

  • Validation and F4 help on an application server file path parameter

    Hi
I have a field on a selection screen called File Path and it is for a download program where the user needs to specify the path for the download (NOT THE ACTUAL FILENAME).
I am trying to find a function or method that allows a user to use F4 help to browse for a directory rather than a specific file. There are lots of posts out there asking this question but all of the answers point to functions that allow you to browse for a particular file rather than just the file path/directory.
Does anyone know of a function that provides F4 help to browse for a file path on the Server (NOT PC). I would want the user to just be able to select the directory or path and have the path returned. They should not need to pick a specific file.
F4_DXFILENAME_TOPRECURSION is a very good function but unfortunately it makes the user pick a file rather than just a directory.
In addition to this, does anyone know of a function or method that allows you to then validate the path\directory that is entered?
    Thanks for your help
    Nicole

    Hi,
You can try with the FM 'EPS_GET_DIRECTORY_LISTING'. With this Fm module you will get you the list of files of a particular path in an internal table. Then you can populate this internal table in F4 help.
Hope this solves your problem. If any difficulty, come back to me about that.
Below are some other FM related to application server directory. Hope these Helps.
