Application signatures not beeing validated?

Hi,
i've accidently deleted some files from the installation directory of one of my AiR applications, and i haven't noticed it until the application wanted to use the files and couldn't find them.
Now i'm wondering why the application was able to run at all? The documentation says that
Each AIR application is signed, and an installed application
cannot run if any files in the installed application directory do
not match the application’s signature.

The application is only signed with an self-signed certificate created using ADT, however the documentation says that
If an AIR file is signed with a certificate that does not chain
to one of the trusted root certificates (and normally this includes
all self-signed certificates), then the publisher information cannot
be verified. While AIR can determine that the AIR file has not been
altered since it was signed, there is no way to verify who actually created
and signed the file

So a self-signed certificate should work.
Does anyone know what might be the problem?

thanks for the reply. So are you saying that it's only done on installation time, ie that the documentation is wrong in saying that installed applications are checked?

Once the application is published, there'll be an icon in the Start Menu to run the application from. You can run the published application by clicking on the icon.
You can, but shouldn't, actually run the published application from the setup.exe file, but defintely not "vslchost.exe".

I have Win7Pro64, tried to Un-Install Firefox control panel, no luck, tried running helper.exe from Uninstall folder and it says "Not a Valid Win-32 Application" What gives?? Just want to update to 3.6.4 and that didn't work either so I'm trying to remove

Running Win7Pro64. Tried to update to 3.6.4 and it failed. It said to download the whole program so I did. Tried to install and says that the "License File" is missing. SO I go to un-install 3.6.3 myslef with Control Panel. All that did was remove Firefox as a listed program in control panel, all of it is still there in Explorer and it runs fine. So I go to use Helper.Exe under the Uninstall folder of Mozilla Firefox and when I click that, it says "Not a Valid Win-32 Application" What's up with that?? All I want to do is remove 3.6.3 so that I can clean install 3.6.4. I tried installing 3.6.4 two different ways with failures both times. I tried to remove 3.6.3 using two different ways, and that also failed both times.

Do a clean reinstall and download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You can skip the step to create a new profile, that is not necessary for this issue.

Error creating a new user profile service application: The specified database is not a valid synchronization database

When trying to create a new user profile service application on a new SharePoint install I get the following error:
"The specified database is not a valid synchronization database"
The installation then fails and does not create the third database.
I found some threads with similar problems but it involved upgrading an existing db. In this case we want to create a new one. Here is the relevant ULS log info:

I Tried to create another one under a different name (databases also) and I get the same error.
The SharePoint instance has the march mandatory update installed. The sql instance we are using is an existing SQL cluster for other SharePoint poc's.
Has anybody seen this issue before?

I had the same problem and could not figure out what was wrong for the longest time. I then had the idea to check in the model system database to see if there were any extra custom tables in that database. Any tables that are in the model database
are put into any new database when it is created. I had some custom tables in the model database so I deleted the custom tables in the model database and deleted the failed user profile service application and its databases and then tried to recreate
the user profile service application again and it worked with no errors

I found that I had a bad (not complete) download. After redownloading 7.0 and installing it, it worked great. Hope this helps other with my same problem.

Please help if you can, because I am new to computers. I have downloaded itunes (setup), which is only 11 meg, but it should of been 56 meg. When I click on it now, it say's run, then itunes setup exe is not a valid win 32 application.

I build an executable using PDA module and try to open it up on Pocket PC, but it says "FILENAME is not a valid Windows CE application" every time. Can any one give me a pointer or two?
Do I have to install a thing or two onto the Pocket PC system before doing anything? I am using Windows CE .NET 4.2

Error message "Not a valid Win32 application" when I try to install

I have downloaded the setup software several times but I cannot get any of it to load. I get the message that it is not a valid Win 32 application. I am running Windows 7. I have no problems with Thunderbird on other machines. There are no help paragraphs anywhere in your system that address this issue - at least not using the available public index.

if the installer is not valid, it will be because it has been corrupted in the download process. Usually by an over helpful anti virus program. As the installer is basically a 7Zip executable some corporate system will not allow the executable to run as it contains a ZIP file.
