Applications and console window and jars as applications

I have an application (not an applet) that needs to have parameters passed to it. If I use the command line through a .bat file I can't get rid of the console window.
Can I prevent the console window from appearing or can I pass parameters to a jar executable? Or am I screwed.

Why do you need to do it from the command line? Just make a shortcut (I'm assuming you're using windows since you're talking about batch files) to javaw with all the options you need.

In 3.6.16, the buttons are all over the place. In previous versions, the forward, back, refresh, stop and home buttons were all together. In this version, the refresh and stop buttons are between the address and search windows, and the home button to the far right.

hi i had the same problem today when i updated my itunes to latest version. however, i have just found my songs in the 'itunes media' folder. this was accessed through 'my music' then keep clicking through until you find itunes media and all my library songs were in there and i then just added these files to my library and all were restored however, i have lost all my playlists but at least my 700 songs are back. very dissapointed with apple that they have let this happen with their latest update, the previous version was miles better than this one . hope you find them. stevo

The problem is if the application is already open and we try to open another application by clicking at the
shortcut, it opens it in a new browser but it does not prompt for the password.
We want the application to prompt for the password each and every time.
we use the following html to launch the application:

There are several ways to do this.
One way is to create your own custom login screen and send the user to it instead of the application. Once they login, then send them to the desired application.
You'll need two user accounts to do this. The first is to lauch the custom login screen, and the second is to launch your application. To avoid two database logins, write the code in your custom login screen to automatically log them into the second account.
Another way is to create a different user account for each application. You may need to work with your DBA to get the accounts created with the proper permissions so they access only the tables they need.

Closing Console window while running Java application from Batch file

Hi all,
I have made a small application using Java swings,now i have made a jar file of my application and calling this jar file through batch file,when user clicks on that batch file it runs "java -jar applicationname.jar" command,but problem is that when i run that file from batch file it opens Dos console window at baclk of the screen which looks weird for a desktop application,i dnt want that Dos console window visible at the backend while my application is running,i have searched regarding this on google but found nothing usefull,if anybody can please help regarding that it will be a great releif for me,i have been stuck on this problem from last two days.

Console window and debugging in ME platform SDK 3.0

Hi All!
I've just started to use new ME platform SDK 3.0. I've imported my WTK 2.5 project and faced unexpected problems.
1) Cannot find debug console window ( where System.out.println() output goes to).
2) Cannot Run Main project in debug mode, although I can run it using Run Main project (F6) and it works fine.
Could anybody point me the solution?

Run in debug mode is a little bit confusing in jmesdk 3.0. It just starts an emulator in debug mode. Basically it does the same like commandline emulator.exe -Xdescriptor:<path to jad> -Xdebug -Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,address=<port>,server=y,suspend=n.
Jmesdk 3.0 doesn't contain debugger console and is expected that user will connect to emulator runnning in debug mode using his preferred gui debugger (netbeans, eclipse etc.)

Lost Canvas and Timeline windows and can't get them back

I'm new to Apple after many years with Windows. So I'm feeling my way around a bit.
Anyway, I just started using my new FCE, imported my first 60 minutes of home videos, and was getting ready to edit them when I lost 2 of the 4 editing windows - Canvas and Timeline. So I went to the Window command drop down and noticed both Canvas and Timeline were "greyed out". Browser and Viewer were not greyed out and both are working properly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
This is most frustrating. (I thought only Windows applications had frustrations!)

As Da Nam suggested... double-click on the sequence icon in the browser to open it... this will open the timeline and canvas windows.
If it's another problem.. try pressing control+U to restore to default window lay-out.

Why won't my trackpad work properly and the cursor will move on it's own and open windows and menu's randomly?

I bought my Macbook Pro less than a year ago and the other night I was watching a TV show in itunes and I couldn't use the track pad. I was able to finally shut the Macbook down and the next morning I rebooted it. It was still acting weird and the trackpad was jumpy and would randomly start opening windows and menus as if someone was contriolling it remotely. I used my bluetooth mouse and it seemed to work ok until tonight when I was copying some files wirelessly (or trying to) and evey time I tried to select files the cursor would jump to another screen and open a menu and then select all and open all my file folders. I was able to get that to stop openin ght ewindows but I still can't use the track pad and the machine acts like it is possesed and has a mind of it's own. I have made sure file saring and screen sharing are off and the battery shows to be normal from doing the control+battery test. What is going on and how can I get this fixed?

In addition, check the MBP battery which resides under your trackpad. They have been known to swell up and interfere with the trackpad operation.

Please clarify the purpose of sync. I thought of it as a backup tool and reinstalled windows and now years of bookmarks are lost. This hurts!

I would like you to please verify the purpose of sync more clearly in the future. I had to reinstall windows and thought I could use sync to save my bookmarks. Now years of bookmarks are lost because the program was not specific in telling me about the recovery keys until it was too late. This put a huge dent in my productivity and really sets me back. I realize that nothing can be done at this point but please clarify this for others so that it doesn't happen again. This really sucks!

How to get rid of the console window and keep the GUI?

i made a jar, but my app needs the API to sniff the network.
i made a .bat file so that i can run the jar file without having to type in the commands.

32bit and 64bit Windows and Lookout

I have two versions of Lookout - 6.0 and 6.6. I am trying to install them on Windows 7/64bit version and find that when I install them, they do not start up at all. I click on the icon and nothing happens. Is this because these versions of Lookout can run only on 32bit version of Windows 7? Or is this another problem entirely?

Hi, I am having problems running Lookout V6.7 on a Windows 64bit machine.
The problem is actually once installed, my laptop will no longer boot up properly. I have a Panasonic Toughbook, CF-53 with a 512 SSD, 16GB RAM. The laptop will boot up and then sits at the "Please Wait" bit before you get to CTL - ALT - Delete to login.
I think there is an NI service that is not starting up properly. Once Lookout and all NI software was uninstalled, it seemed to start ok.
Funny thing is, once booted up (using Windows Safe Mode without Networking), I could generally restart the laptop and it would be ok, but if it was shutdown and then booted up later it wouldn't reboot.
Any one have any ideas on this?

Non-standard application use of iMovie and Pyro AV Link

I want to pipe my 12" PC screen into my 2' iMac screen. I must use a hardwire solution and cannot use VNC or remote control over the web. I can get into the details, but no need here.
So my question: can I use a VGA/DV converter to feed the screen signal from my laptop into the PYRO AV Link, then use iMovie to view the input in real time, without saving to disk? Will the resolution be OK for my needs. Anyone done anything remotely like this? I do not want to buy the hardware if I am not somewhat confiedent it will work.

It's both iMovie and the Pyro. The resolution is dictated by Standard Definition TV resolution.
There is no way to get HD TV resolution in from that kind of source (a computer monitor).
There are screen capture applications for both Windows and Mac OS X that captures video (and audio). Try Google.
