Applied styles aren't showing up in preview or generated file

I have added a number of new styles to my stylesheet. They show up fine in my Design view.  However, once I apply them, then click on the preview button or even generate webhelp to see what they look like as generated, the styles are not showing up.  What am I missing?
btw.. I am using RH10.
Thanks!

Hi... it's happening in the generated output as well as the preview.  I tried generating various outputs... same result... no styles applied - no apparent errors.  Here's what appeared in the Output View for each:

Is the style sheet you use present in the output folder? Does the output view show any errors? Is the problem only in preview/webhelp, or does it also occur in CHM/AIR?
It's a strange issue and we need a little more information to find out what is going on.
Kind regards,
Willam

Thanks for your help!
I'm going to try removing the updated css and replacing it with the old one that did work.  brb.

    Thanks for the reply with the very helpful details.
    Export from Premiere Elements 12/12.1 Publish+Share/Computer/MPEG with Presets = HDTV 1080p29.97 High Quality
    I suspect that we are in a no win situation here - an Elements Organizer 12 issue.
    With Elements Organizer 11, 10, and 9, I can bring your MPEG2.mpg into the Elements Organizer with thumbnail with
    image. I cannot for Elements 12. And, I am working with the same MPEG2.mpg in Elements Organizer 9.0/9.0.1, 10, 11,
    and 12 on the same computer. In the morning, I will look Elements Organizer 13 as well.
    In my work with 12, this MPEG2.mpg consistently crashed the Elements Organizer 12.
    It is difficult to explain these results by invoking a missing codec theory since all was done with the same sample on the
    same computer.
    More later.

  • How to apply style to partial text within a tag in xml file

    I have created a webpage using Dreamweaver CS4 Spry Regions. Everything is functioning as expecting, however now I need to apply a style to part of the text. Every occurance of the company name needs to be in italics - the problem is that the company name appears within different parts of the text within a set of tags.
    http://www.certifiedangusbeef.com/private1/sales/facts/index.php
    ie - <description> this is my company name which must appear in italics</description>
    In this example, only "company name" needs to be italicized. We have created an XSL file that applies the italics properly when the XML file is viewed in the browser. But it does not have any effect on the final web page - as though spry is blocking the XSL or we've missed a step in linking all the files together.
    Here's the XSL code:

    Please help what should be done to fix this or which sap note will solve this problem.

    Hello Hemant,
    If you look inside the report, it is fetching the short address of length 80. it is as per standard program.
    the exporting parameter (ADDRESS_SHORT_FORM_S) in function module is referred to LIKE SZAD_FIELD-ADDR_SHORT of length 80 with data element AD_LINE_S.
    Please raise it to SAP, they might suggest you some SAP note for it.

  • Styles Aren't Applied in Microsoft Edge F12 Tools

  • Styles - Why isn't Styles & Formatting pod showing what's applied?

    RH8/Tech Comm Suite 2
    WebHelp Pro
    Brand, spanking new RH8 project and new CSS that I'm trying to create using RH Styles tool - not an upgrade issue
    Hi All,
    First time creating a CSS in RH8 (and I'm pretty novice when it comes to CSS). After reading everything I can find about Styles & Formatting in RH8 (Grainge.org included - thank you, Peter!), I still can't figure out something really basic: I built a List Style called "Numbered", it's definitely there in my CSS (shows up in the Styles & Formatting pod and Styles editor where I created it), and it seems to be applying correctly when I select text and then the Numbered list style. But, if I later go back to a topic and want to make sure it was tagged appropriately, when I click the text (none) is what's selected in both the Styles & Formatting pod and the Formatting toolbar. When I look at the HTML, it's applied correctly:
    <ol type="1">
    <li class="Numbered">First step of procedure here.</li>
    <li class="Numbered">Here's the next step</li>
    <li class="Numbered">Here's the next step</li>
    <li class="Numbered">&#160;</li>
    I saw an old post re: a display issue with styles in RH7. Is this still a bug in RH8? Is there anything I can do to display the currently applied style somewhere on the Design side? (I have novice RH users working with me on this project...I can't make them go look at the HTML to see if the right style is applied!)
    Second to that, how do I get the Formatting toolbar to show List Styles (seems to be showing Paragraph styles only)? Basically I'd like that box on the Formatting toolbar to show only what I want it to show... about 6 styles total, but some are Paragraph and some are List.
    TIA!

    Thanks, Peter. Ahhh, yes, thank you, that does help me understand what's happening.
    The rather annoying thing is that even if "All available styles" is selected at the top of the Styles & Formatting pod, when I select one of the numbered steps it still displays (none). So it seems the only way to confirm the correct List style has been applied from the Design side is to toggle over to displaying List styles only (and then switch back when working on an area of the topic with P tags).
    I just wish there was a way to customize the toolbar to show more than the P style. I want to keep this project as simplistic as possible (will be handing it over to the client when finished, and they are not RH savy), so I don't want to create P styles for lists if I don't need them (no output for print required). They are, however, going to be importing quite a bit from Word on an ongoing basis, so I wonder if Li only vs. Li plus P is preferable in that situation (going to do some test Word imports as soon as I get the CSS a little further along). I'm guessing it won't matter either way, but Word import is something I've successfully avoided in all prior projects, so we'll see!
    BTW, thanks for pointing out the "Snippets" area of your site... hadn't ever gone there before because I'd assumed it contained info. about the RH Snippets feature :-). You have some great tidbit on there!

    My images aren't showing in my .swf file and they used to work.  I was wondering what happened.  Some help would be greatly appreciated.  Also wondering if there is a way to save a .swf file back as a flash file, I tried recreating the work that was done prior from the flashmo file (http://www.flashmo.com/preview/flashmo_183_photo_rotator) but was unable to duplicate the look.

    That template that you used uses an XML file to tell the Flash movie which image files to use and where they are. This Flash movie requires that you have a folder named "photos" right next to the .swf file.
    When you download the template zip file from flashmo.com, you will get a folder with all of the necessary files including the original .fla file. An important concept to remember is that the names, and the capitalization of those names, are critical to the success of a schema like this. The .swf file is looking for a folder named "photos". On some servers, if the folder is named "Photos", it won't be used. Don't include spaces in the names of your image files. When you are uploading the files to your server, be sure to upload the .swf and the image files as data and not as text.

  • Apply styles to subpictures

    Can I somehow apply styles to subpictures in Encore? Basically, I want to customize the look of text-buttons in three states: normal, selected and activated using styles (eg to make them glow,change stroke color etc) rather then simply change the color of the text.
    I also tried to find an option to make a text as text or as button transperent (with a colour stroke style applied so you can actually read it) but couldn't :( Is it at all possible?
    Thanks for any advice

    In a word, no.
    You may be able to apply styles, but they will be ignored when you preview the menu or build the DVD.
    In the DVD-Video format, a subpicture is defined as a 2-bit RLE graphic overlay - one color value, and one opacity value. That means no drop shadows, glows, gradients, etc can be rendered by DVD players for subpicture information.
    A color table is used for the subpicture layer that allows you to combine up to three of these 2 bit graphics. Using this color table, you can get a little tricky and use up to three different 2-bit graphics to make the subpicture look a bit more impressive. There's a tutorial on this site that shows how to do that.
    But even using this trick, DVD-Video subpictures will never even get close to looking like Photoshop styles on a 32 bit monitor. :)
    I don't understand the second part of your post. Can you clarify what it is you are trying to do there? (it seems separate from the styles question)

  • Any ideas on how to fix ipad after the new iOS 7 update? My battery will not charge, my ipad is hot to the touch, the iTunes Store won't open, and my messages on Facebook aren't showing up when I chat and pintrest won't pin to my boards.

    If you have all your music on the cmputer then i would connect up my phone uncheck the Sync Music option and apply.
    This should take all the music off your phone .Then you can resync the music back on to it.
    If this doesn't work maybe a restore to factory settings and start from scratch is the way to go

  • How to apply style sheet (.css) in Weblogic directory listing

    Hi,
    We are migrating a directory listing application from Apache to Weblogic.
    Earlier we did this by Apache httpd.conf entry like below :
    <Directory "/opt/apache/httpd-2.1.9/htdocs/Myreportfolder">
    IndexOptions FancyIndexing FoldersFirst NameWidth=* XHTML
    IndexOrderDefault Descending Date
    IndexStyleSheet "/css/style.css"
    </Directory>
    /opt/apache/httpd-2.1.9/htdocs folder has all it's usual resource files.
    We were able to see documents in "Myreportfolder".
    Now we have moved to Weblogic and using virtual directory mapping as below and we are trying to achieve the same thing:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    - <wls:weblogic-web-app xmlns:wls="http://www.bea.com/ns/weblogic/weblogic-web-app" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee/web-app_2_5.xsd http://www.bea.com/ns/weblogic/weblogic-web-app http://www.bea.com/ns/weblogic/weblogic-web-app/1.0/weblogic-web-app.xsd">
    - <wls:container-descriptor>
    <wls:index-directory-enabled>true</wls:index-directory-enabled>
    <wls:index-directory-sort-by>LAST_MODIFIED</wls:index-directory-sort-by>
    </wls:container-descriptor>
    - <wls:virtual-directory-mapping>
    <wls:local-path>/Myreportfolder</wls:local-path>
    <wls:url-pattern>/*</wls:url-pattern>
    </wls:virtual-directory-mapping>
    <wls:context-root>/getreports</wls:context-root>
    </wls:weblogic-web-app>
    We are able to view the reports but we do not get look-and-feel of Apache like directory listing.
    but we encounter below issues:
    1) File/Folder icons are not visible - we want to use style sheets in http header from the response that is returned from weblogic server
    2) Filename is limited to 29 characters when it is showing
    3) Files are not sortable as Descending order - we sorted using tag <wls:index-directory-sort-by>LAST_MODIFIED</wls:index-directory-sort-by> but the latest file is shown at the last
    We are thinking that Weblogic must be having some configuration like Apache httpd.conf where we can apply style sheets (css ).
    We would appreciate af anyone can provide better insight into the issue.
    or is it possible to extend weblogic.servlet.fileservlet class to serve this purpose.
    Thanks & regards,
    Rabi

  • Bridge CS5 showing 16 bit previews

    Hello
    I have written about this before and have never had a good answer.
    I see that the latest version of Bridge CS5 64 bit Windows seems to show 16 bit previews. The previews are posterised.
    I have a ATI HD5400 with the latest drivers running on Win 7 64 bit. Win display properties shows 32 bit display at 1920 by 1200 on my Eizo SX2462W monitor.
    If I open a previewed image in Camera Raw, I see a initially a posterised image which then redraws to un posterised.
    Bridge slide shows also show posterised images and do not have the sharpening applied in CR.
    I have purged all my caches and also have selected 100% previews and monitor sized previews.
    The Loupe shows the posterisation.
    Photoshop CS5 shows unposterised images.
    Mike Engles

    The Bridge previews are jpegs and I have a feeling that there is a problem with Bridge which is I think still 32 bit in CS5. working on a 64 bit OS.
    Bridge CS6 (in fact Bridge version 5) is the first version that appeared in 64 bit. But I don't see the difference of 64 and 32 bit for the system effecting your previews.
    The specs of your graphic card show that this card should not cause a problem.
    To clarify, (no relevant knowledge of Windows on my side I'm afraid) you have multiple disks on your system or do you have a partition on the same disk for both XP and Windows 7?
    And are you using two different libraries (read: two different cache folders for Bridge, one for XP and one for Windows 7) or do you use the same cache folder for both.
    The latter might cause you problems. About each new version of Bridge has a different cache structure and they are not easy interchangeable (if at all). And I think both OS have different approach of cache but I'm not sure about that.
    When stating that the problem solves with purge cache on one system and same solution brought it back on the other I think here is the culprit. To me this indicates to a cache problem.
    Hence my suggestion of quitting Bridge and manual deleting the total cache folder (on a Mac this is in the user library) and  after restarting Bridge it will refresh with a new and empty cache folder for a fresh start.

  • Images embedded in styles no longer show in generated webhelp

    I am using RoboHelp HTML Version 8 and generating webhelp for interent explorer/firefox.
    Before christmas when i compiled my project everything looked fine when i reviewed the outcome. However, since coming back in january and compiling my help again, things seems to have gone awry with how the help looks once compiled. I have noticed a couple of issues:
    1. There are a number of images that are embedded in the certain styles (and references in my css file) in the project. However, these images now don't show and they have been replaced by bullet points.
    2. I use a horizontal line as a placeholder to split up the page - this line is now a lot thicker than it looked before.
    The strange thing is that the help topics look exaclty the same in RoboHelp and the preview so i'm not sure what has gone wrong here. I suspect it is an issue with my css file, but i compared the generated file with one i generated last month and they were exactly the same!
    Below are two pictures, the first one displaying how the topic looks in RoboHelp preview (this is how it looked when i compiled it last month) and the second one displaying the compiled output in internet explorer:
    Any advice would be much appreciated as given the prevalence of these images it would take me a significant amount of time to manually change every instance.

    Hi,
    I also noticed this problem. What I accidently discovered
    that worked for me, is that as long as the characters in the path
    were all together with "no spaces," everything worked fine. I used
    underscores to connect words. I sell on eBay as well as designing
    web sites, so I need DW to generate the code for me to paste into
    eBay's html "code box." So anyway, I would create the web page in
    my DW eBay template, and then upload it to my server. Then I would
    go back to DW, and enter the absolut path(s) for all the pictures
    to my server. As long as the path is connected with no spaces, it
    works.

  • How to get certain applied styles using script?

    Hi All,
    I need to know how to get certain applied styles using ID Scripting. I don't have much experience in InDesign so need some help.
    Here is a screenshot with a sample text with the said styles applied and highlighted.
    I need to know what texts in my document have these styles applied like All Caps, Strikethrough, Underline, Subscript and Superscript etc.
    Please help.
    Thanks!

    Hi Poortip87
    The first thing you have to understand is how to refer to "where" you want to apply the style.
    If you want the script to apply the style to the selected text then you would use for example app.selection[0].strikeThru = true;
    If you for example want to underline the last word of the first paragraph of the first story you would use app.activeDocument.stories[0].paragraphs[0].words[-1].underline = true;
    If you just wanted the first letter of that word underlined then you would add .characters[0] after the words[-1]
    To for example apply All Caps to all the text in all the stories you would use
    app.activeDocument.stories.everyItem().texts[0].capitalization = Capitalization.ALL_CAPS;
    The easiest way to find how to set properties to a selections is to set them manually and make the selection and then run the script below.
    You should be able to find all the properties you want very easily after running the script.
    Or you can use Jongwares excellent reference guide. Indesign JavaScript Help

  • Applying styles to place assest from AppleScript. CS5.5

    We are running a script that based on a csv file, loads various elements from a library then imports XML.  An example of these elements might be designed to have 4 separate item records within it and each item record might contain a few text boxes and an image and each of these items have xml tags.  To better understand, think of  a supermarket circular where they might have 4 meat items in one section with a description, size, price and an image.  We've broken it into different sections and based on data coming from our database we can relate to a specific element in our indesign library and know how many items will need to be loaded in that section.  This all works fine so far and is pretty cool how it loads but we are looking to maybe pass a basic page theme which might be both object and paragraph styles so we'd like to apply these styles through our script because it is possible that different elements might get different styles in same load or even same elements might be re-used in same load and have different styles so really can't define elements with styles we'd like or associate specific xml tages with styles because might be different in each element.
    I can in Applescript apply paragraph and object styles to by either index like applying style x to paragraph 1 but would like to do it to element that we placed on page.  Here is an example of our script to maybe better understand.  Look for comments where we place our assets(elements) on page.  Looking to how we can apply style to say paragraph 1 or text frame 1 of placedAsset says can't get text frame 1 or paragraph 1 of group xxx.
    Tried variations of:
    tell application "Adobe InDesign CS5.5"
    set myDocument to active document
    set myPage to active page of active window
    set placedAsset to place asset asset "7" of library "GT.indl" on myDocument
    move placedAsset to {0.65, 0.6}
    tell myDocument
      set myStyle to paragraph style "Style1"
      set objStyle to object style "objStyle"
    --This works for just applying styles by index
      tell paragraph 1 of text frame 1
       apply paragraph style using myStyle
      end tell
      tell text frame 1
       apply object style using objStyle
      end tell
    --This gives error described above
      tell text frame 1 of placedAsset
       apply object style using objStyle
      end tell
    end tell
    end tell
    Script which runs now but is not set to apply styles yet:
    try
    set CSVstr to "Please locate your CSV file..."
    set CSV_File to (choose file with prompt CSVstr) as text
    set csvData to read file CSV_File

       --  display dialog fldElement
       set placedAsset to place asset asset fldElement of library "GTElements.indl" on myDocument
       move placedAsset to {fldLocationX, fldLocationY}
    --This is where we'd like to apply styles to placed asset contents. This placed asset will have a few text frames and at
    --least one image.  We would just pass extra fields in our csv file with names of styles to be applied
      end repeat
      set AppleScript's text item delimiters to {""}
      tell myDocument
       set XMLstr to "Please locate your XML file..."
       set XML_File to (choose file with prompt XMLstr)
       import XML from XML_File

       end tell
       set find text preferences to nothing
       set change text preferences to nothing
      end tell
    end tell
    end try

    It would be a lot easier to help you if you were more succint. You should practice narrowing down the problem to the smallest possible case that demonstrates it. This is a good skill for two reasons: (1) It makes it easier to find the problem yourself (2) It makes it easier for others to help you.
    I believe your problem is you are asking for the first textframe of the placed asset:
    set placedAsset to place asset asset "7" of library "GT.indl" on myDocument
    tell myDocument
    --This gives error described above
      tell text frame 1 of placedAsset
       apply object style using objStyle
      end tell
    end tell
    end tell
    At least in JavaScript, the place command returns an array of objects, without regard to type. I suspect that's true in AS as well.
    So you probably want something like "tell first item of placedAsset" rather than "text frame 1". And if you want to make sure it is a text frame, because there are other things in the placedAsset, you'll need to use a filter. ("first item of placedAsset whose constructor is textFrame" or something like that).
    Again, my applescript is really rusty, but I think that's the general idea.

  • Losing Itals When I Apply Styles

    Hi,
    I've started playing with InCopy templates, and I've run into a problem with maintaining italics when I place a Word file in a template. When I first place the document, it maintains the itals. But that text is in the Word doc's font, not in the font I want to use. So then I apply paragraph styles. But when I apply paragraph styles, the itals show up highlighted in pink. Is it a mistake I've made in setting up the paragraph style?
    Thanks.

    Create two character styles. Italic & Bold.
    Then select all text, hit control-F.
    At the bottom of the dialog box click in the Find Format area.
    This will bring up setting. Go to Basic Character Formats and select a font style of Italic....hit ok.
    Click in the Change Format Settings and select the Character Style of Italic(the one you just created)....hit ok.
    Now Click Change All.
    Repeat for Bold..or any other style you want to retain.
    note: this will not work if the fields "Find what" and "Change to" are not blank.
    Now you should be able to apply your style without changing the Italics and so on.
    Hope this helps!
