Apps on waiting status

I have 4 apps that are in waiting status and trying to download. They have been that way since yesterday . I can't even delete them and re- download them. I tried tapping on app to see if it will start to download and nothing. I've logged out of iPad and was pressing and holding home and and sleep button at same time to reset and still nothing. I want to use these apps. Can anyone help me out. Thank.

Try updating/download using iTune (computer) and sync to iPad.

  • HELP - apps in waiting status!!!

    Hi!!
I have an ipad 2, and have never had issues with this before.  I have a few apps that are in "waiting" status. I tried restoring all settings, I tried logging into and out of the store from both the ipad and my computer, I tried syncing the apps from my computer.....but am still having difficulty  - 1 is a new app that I downloaded, and the other is an update!!
    What else can I try???
    Thanks, Wendy

    1. Check iTunes and see if you have a pending/stalled download e.g. Podcast, Books, Music, Movies or iTune U. Finish off the download and you should be able to update.
    2. Check for Updates (bottom right) in iTune. When download is completed, sync to iPad.

  • For the 2nd day my iPhone 5 will not let me download updates for apps.  When i click update, it acts as if it is going to update but puts all apps in "waiting" status.  I've tried selecting each, as well as deleting and re-downloading but to no avail.

For the 2nd day my iPhone 5 will not let me download updates for apps.  I've tried selecting each to click off wait, and have selected new updates indvidually instead of all together.  Also have shut the phone down and have even deleting the apps completely and re-downloaded but to no avail.  Each app continues to sit on my screen with the line below as if it is about to download but never does, and now any apps I've tried to updated will not let me use them.

Oh my gosh I had the EXACT same problem, and for ages I couldn't figure out how to fix it until today. Here's what I did:
First I went onto my computer, opened itunes, and un-installed tumblr, vine and kik. These were the apps I was having problems with (it said I had them on my phone but, like you, they didn't show).
Then I went to the itunes store, searched for each one, and it said I could update them so I did (just FYI: for tumblr a window popped up saying "please click ok to confirm you are 17 years or older", so I did that also)
When I went back to my phone and tried installing them again (still on my computer), it worked!
I hope this helps, because it was incredibly frustrating. Good luck!

  • Numbers app in "waiting" status

Talked to the Apple support people and they suggested that I reset my 5C entirely.  I find this unacceptable.  Is anyone else having issues with this?  If so, were you able to resolve it?

I think its not what he meant. I am also encountering this problem right now with ipad mini retina iOS 7.1.1.
I have fully installed numbers but still on the app screen it is greyed and labeled waiting. I know that the app is fully installed because if I go to the app store and went to purchased I could open the app and run it.... Its annoying because I can't uninstall it or access it on the app screen.
    O.T.
Keynote is also acting weird, I have downloaded it on the itunes app store on my mac because it downloads very slow on my ipad's app store (while other apps download normally.) When I install it from itunes it doesn't install. But when I disconnect my ipad and connect it, it is labeled as installed but I cant find the icon.
    Pages works normal...

Since i update to ios 5.0.1 on my ipad2  everytime if i want to download apps form the app store the status of the downlaod proces stays in "wait" status and the app will not be installed.

    Hi fredfromroosendaal,
You can try do a soft reset by pressing the home and power together for around 10-15 secs and wait it reboot.
After that try download again and it should solve the problem.
I face this before and get it done by doing step above.
Hope this works for you too.

I'm not able to download apps from App Store. It never downloads and it shows waiting status.can somebody please help me resolve this issue

I really do not think it is the iPad or your network connection. Other users have reported this very same issue. Try this and see if it works for you - it may not work - but it's easy to try - harmless - and it has worked in the past for others.
Try signing out of your account and restart your iPad.
Go to Settings>Store>Apple ID and tap the ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button. Go back to Settings>Store> Apple ID and sign in again.

  • Apps stuck in 'waiting' status

I've seen a few similar posts, but adding mine here.  iPad2 software version 5.1 - last two days, app downloads and updates stuck in 'waiting' status.  Tried signing out, powering off and back on, and then signing back in, but no luck.  Works fine when syncing through itunes on computer, but no luck with cloud downloads or over wi-fi from app store.  Also automatic cloud downloads aren't pushing to iPad.  Help us Apple!!!!

First, Apple isn't on these forums, so your'e just writing your fellow users here.  Second, Apple servers are overloaded with new users updating to their new devices, downloading new apps, etc.  Give it a few days to settle down, but you're just seeing the fact that there are more users than the servers can handle at one time.

  • Download app store apps stay in "wait" status

Since i updated to ios 5.0.1 everytime i try to dowload an app or update an app form the app strore, the download proces will stay in "wait" status. I've tryed now 3 times to reset my ipad2 but with no effect

This might help as well. Sign out of your account on the iPad, restart the iPad and then sign back into your account.
Go to Settings>Store>Apple ID - tap on the ID and sign out.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Then go to Settings>Store>Sign and sign back in. See if you can resume the download - or see if it starts up on it's own. Try tapping the icon it try to resume the download.

  • Restore new iPad Mini from iPad 1 backup. Ican update new apps from Apple store but most of my apps have been showing the Waiting status for over 12 hours. Store shows them as installed. What gives?

Restore new iPad Mini from iPad 1 backup. Ican update new apps from Apple store but most of my apps have been showing the Waiting status for over 12 hours. Store shows them as installed. What gives?

If the downloads are stalled or "waiting" - try these suggestions.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again.
If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad.

  • HT1688 I'm trying to download a audiobook I got this morning with iTunes. However, the book is frozen on "waiting" status, what is the audiobook "waiting" for?

I'm trying to download a audiobook I got this morning with iTunes. However, the book is frozen on "waiting" status, what is the audiobook "waiting" for?

    Hello Jose,
I would be concerned too if the audiobook I purchased from iTunes was not downloading on my iPhone. I have a few suggestions to get it downloaded to your iPhone.
First, I recommend checking to see if the download was interrupted:
If your download was interrupted using your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
From the Home screen, tap the iTunes app.
For iPhone or iPod touch, tap More > Downloads. For iPad, tap Downloads.
Enter your account name and password if prompted.
Tap the blue download arrow to resume.
iTunes: How to resume interrupted iTunes Store downloads
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1725
If the audiobook still does not download, I recommend signing out and back into the iTunes Store on your iPhone:
    Changing your Apple ID account
Tap Settings > iTunes & App Stores, then tap the Apple ID signed in.
Sign out of the current Apple ID account and then sign in with another account or create a new Apple ID.
The last step states to sign in with another account, but for the situation you described, I recommend just signing in with your same Apple ID.
You can find the full article here:
iOS: Changing the signed-in iTunes Store Apple ID account
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1311
If you are still not able to download the audiobook, you can report an issue with this purchase using the steps in this article:

  • Download Stuck in WAITING status

Tonight, tried to download a movie for rental. It started and showed 22 minutes remaining, which is crazy, as usually it immediately hits 2% and I begin watching - I've had the ATV since it was first available and I've never had to wait for a download. I checked my internet connection, iMAC network test reporting 22down/6up, typical for me. When I use Apple TV to watch trailers, youtube, etc., it flies. Trailers download instantly, long YouTube files don't buffer. Everything plays nicely. Now the movie is stuck in WAITING. When I click on the movie icon from main screen and then click on the WAITING button, it switches to DOWNLOADING and then right back to WAITING. I've rebooted ATV, downloaded latest update, etc. Seems everything works great except this one movie download. Any ideas?

I mean knowing alittle about "Music Match" because had it for about a year now and I have a 40 gig size library.. When Music Match is DL tracks you don't DL apps (this is a given). So seems in my case music Match failed for whatever reason, so the OS still thinks it needs to DL song but doesn't. So I can't DL apps because OS still has phantom music tracks to download. So that is where (I believe) I am stuck.. Somehow I need to reset this DL process. Any ideas besides a full restore of my phone would be great. Thanks,
    Chris
Again music Match is turn off on my iphone 5 and still can't down apps from app store.. the get stuck in "waiting" status.

  • App download "waiting" then disappears

My Words with Friends was going wonky, so I deleted it and wanted to reinstall it. It says "waiting" then the waiting icon disappears all together. I've tried rebooting my phone, but that doesn't work. I've tried syncing in my iTunes on my laptop, but I keep getting an error code that it can't sync apps with my phone.
This is getting really annoying! Any thoughts?
    I have an iPhone 4 (not 4s), 16g
    Thanks!

I tried updating the apps on my iPad and they have been in waiting status for three days.  Also, Safari has been running really slow during this time.  ANy ideas?

    In this order try ....

Go back to Settings>iTunes and App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
    4. You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
    5. You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again.
