Question

Hi,
I'm a newbie and would like som help with design, or to be pointed in the right direction.
Im about to build the foolowing application:
1. My object is "user"
2. The "user" has a setting to when he wants an email (different settings for different users). Therefore a thread will run checking the user setting to the current time and send email when the time is right.
3. The user can interact with his settings and change them via a JSP page.
How should I design this application, and what tools should I use?
This is how I was thinking to build it:
1. JSP page running on tomcat (or sun application server). I read a little bit about server faces, shuold I use this?
2. Hibernate to persist the object "user"
3. Mysql db to store object
4. A thread that (via) hibernate keeps all objects in memory. (How can the JSP page interact with the objects in memory?)
Is this a good architecture? And how can the JSP page interact with the objects in memory.

My problem is more how a server app works. I would
like my JSP page to interact with my server app. and
alter the settings of the object. How is this
possible to do?
For example one solution I had was to build a simple
java HTTP server that runs besides tomcat and have my
jsp send a submit to that server inorder to alter my
objects. This doesn't seem like a good solution
though. But something similar.I'm a little confused about what you're trying to accomplish here. It doesn't sound like you really understand how JSP pages interact with other Java EE components. I would recommend learning about how to design Java EE applications. The Java EE 5 Tutorial is a good place to start:
