  • Can't read pdf attachments in mail

Hi, I can't read the pdf attachments in mail, it opens but when I try to resize or scroll it the app crashes and close.
The problem is new, just a few days ago I can read the same pdf attachments without problems.
I aprecciate any help you can give me.
    Thanks

You probably need to restore as new or from a backup. See p. 141 of the manual... http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/iPhone_UserGuide.pdf

  • How can one send email-sized photo files as attachments in Mail, without the photos appearing within the email?s

How can one send email-sized photo files as attachments in Apple Mail, without the photos appearing in the body of the email?  If it can be done, it's not at all obvious, at least not to me.  Thanks for any help you can provide.

The "View as icon" option shrinks the photo to an icon in the sender's Apple Mail, but how it appears to the recipient varies dependingy on what e-mail client he/she uses.
Using Apple Mail 5.0 (the Lion version) at both ends, the sender can use the "View as icon" option to shrink his view of the photo to an icon, but the recipient also using Apple Mail 5.0 still sees the full photo in line with the message text. The recipient can then use the "View as icon" option to shrink it to an icon, but I don't think that's not what jackofarabia is looking for.
As far as I know there is no way in the current Apple Mail to do what jackofarabia wants. There should be, but there isn't.

  • Exchange 2010 Activesync with the Windows 8.1 mail app limited to 10 MB attachments?

We have a few executives that want to use the mail app on their 8.1 tablets to access our Exchange 2010 SP3 Ru7 servers via Activesync.  They get connected and can sync mail, but when they
try to download attachments that are larger than 10 MB, they get an error  (Sorry I don't have the exact wording)  the error doesn't say anything about attachment size limit, but it works if the attachment is 9.5 MB and they get the error as soon
as the attachment is greater than 10 MB.<o:p></o:p>
I tested the app with the same attachments greater than 10 MB with an Outlook.com account and it works ok on the Windows 8.1 tablet.<o:p></o:p>
I also tested using an IPad against the Exchange servers and I can download attachments greater than 10 MB just fine.<o:p></o:p>
So it looks like only the combination of Exchange (2010 in my case) and the Windows 8.1 mail app has the limitation?
    <o:p></o:p>

ActiveSync is limited in the same manner that OWA and web services are.  See the following page to see how to increase this limit:

  • After I updated iOS 5 can´t use the "open with" for mail attachments.

After I updated iOS 5 on my iPad 2, I can not use the "open with" for mail attachments. The option is not appearing.
For example, when I try to open an .wmv attachment the iOS 5 doesn´t show "open with". Before update, I was able to open with "AZUL" software.
    Can anyone help me?

You did say that the option does not appear at all in mail no matter which file type you want to open correct? I can only assume that something went corrupt in the update that affected your settings and that's why this option no longer appears. For experimental purposes, you could try emailing a PDF to yourself and see if that will allow you to use the Open in function in the mail app.
If nobody else jumps into this discussion with a different idea, then maybe you should try restoring your iPad. The best way to do so is - first backup the device - and then restore to factory settings and then you can try restoring from a backup at the end of the process.
However, if one of your settings is corrupt, the backup will be corrupt as well. It may be that you will have to restore to factory settings and then start all over again - adding your apps and content back to the device to get the best results. I would certainly use this process as a last resort. Restoring from a backup maybe all that you need to do.

Very spooky. Not always reproducible, but it happened to me while using Office365-Outlook web-based email (saving a PDF).

  • The behaviour of encoding attachments in Mail.app

I used to compose plain text mails.
If I attach a file, for example:
    blabla1<file>blabla2
Seems that Mail.app will encode them separately, blabla1, file and blabla2 will be encoded as 3 mime parts.
So in many mail clients (maybe including Outlook), my receipt will see the mail content blabla1, and 2 attachments: file and blabla2(this is a .txt file)
Even if I drag the file to the end of the text, in some mail client they will still see 2 attachment files.
How can I make Mail.app not to split the text? I just want my attachment at the end of the mail.

OK, I've found the solution. In the attach file dialog there's a check box to use Windows compatible attachment files, check it and it's done

  • How to cancel the auto download of attachments in Mail application?

I want to have the option of downloading only the needed attachments especially when working on 3G network and not WiFi. Is there a setting to do this?

There is no such option/setting on an iPhone to determine this. Whether you can view the attachment has more to do with your connection, WiFi or cellular, and the size of the attachment than anything else. There will be a paperclip indicating the message includes an attachment regardless if downloaded with the message or not. When connected to the cellular network, if an attachment is below a designated size, the attachment will be downloaded automatically. If over a certain size, you must select the attached file icon in the body of the message to download the attachment. The size limit varies by carrier/provider.

    Hi,
I seriously doubt your control file is a working one. Can you upload your working/correctly formatted file?
Or check this working sample below. Hope this helps.

  • Receive CSV attachment via Mail Adapter and process into ABAP proxy

    Hi,
    I have the following scenario:
    1. Receive e-mail with CSV attachment
    2. Process through Mail adapter (KeepAttachments = Yes in order to retain the CSV attachment)
    3. Receive into ABAP proxy (with CSV attachment)
The next step is to read the attachment in the ABAP proxy and process the CSV attachment data into CRM.
The CSV attachment contains the data I wish to process - the body of the e-mail will not contain this information.
The problem I have is reading the attachment data in the proxy - not sure of the methods/class to call - anyone got any ideas ?
Another question is this the best way to do this and process the CSV attachment data ?
I know I could use the PayloadSwapBean to switch the payload to the attachment but then I am stumped with how the attachment is processed through PI 7.1 - how do you transform the CSV format payload into XML so PI will be able to process it through mapping.
Either option is viable - an answer to either question would be great.
    1. How do you read the attachment data in an inbound ABAP proxy ?
    2. How do you transform the CSV attachment data after the PayloadSwapBean from CSV to XML ?
    Kind regards
    Colin.

    Hi Colin
As you are not interested in processing the body of email. Swap the payload to the attachment using the PayloadSwapBean
Change the content from CSV to XML using MessageTransformBean. Now pass this information to Proxy. You dont need to deal with attachments in proxy.
It is not possible to read attachment in server proxy because the class and interface you create will not have data type which can refer to an attachment processing interface in ABAP.
    Thanks
    Gaurav

  • Csv attachments

There does not seem to be a separate category for the Mail app that is included with Mac OS.
There was an earlier thread on this but it is archived.
When I attached csv files to an email - and send it to folsk on windows - the file gets extra lines inserted - this causes problems for them processing the file.
The file is NOT created by Excel - but it is read into Excel - so changing the way the file is saved is not an possibility - and opening each file just to save it with different format is also not an option as the number of files to be processed makes that too time consuming.
Mail is doing something to the file that it likely does not need to be doing. If I attached the exact same file to a Mac Mail email and also to an email sent from a different email client - and open them both on Windows from Outlook - the Mac Mail file has extra lines and the other does not.
Yes I could remove the extension - or compress - or use a file sharing option instead of email attachment - the trouble is that there are many other folks involved in the process and it may be too difficult to change too much of the process.
Short term - I will simply not use the Mail client included with Mac OS X.

Outlook 2007 is what I have tested with - the other end might be 2003, 2007 or 2010 on the windows side - and 2011 on hte Mac side.
Yes send windows attachemnt was checked and makes no difference.
    Yes zip is an option.
Opening and saving each file in xls format is an option - however, I would have to do that operation at least a dozen times a day - which coudl get annoying - maybe a folder action setup to open each csv and resave it as an xls automatically might work.
The output file that I send gets copied and pasted into another doc - and then is not needed - so the extra work involved in converting the csv in advance seems inefficient.
Not using email to share the files might be an option.
For the moment the simplest option is for me to NOT use Apple Mail to send - or to instruct the folks on the other end to NOT use Outlook to receive.
Over the past decade or so I have created about 12,000 csv files - and while that is only about 1,200 a year or an average of about 5 a day - i am not the only one creating them and there is more than one person on the team that needs to process the files. So I am looking for the simplest - easiest - most comprehensive solution.
This was not a problem in the past because we all used Windows OS and MS Office Professional - a number of us have recently switched to Mac OS and not using MS Office (or at least not using Outlook).

  • I cannot archive emails with attachments

I can archive emails without attachments, however, when I include any emails WITH attachments, I get the following error message: "Server xxx has disconnected. Server may have gone down or there may be a network problem." Once I choose an email with an attachment and try to archive it, I have to close and re-open Thunderbird before I can even archive emails without attachments again.

First check to make sure you have data turned on and not just Wi-Fi. From reading your question you seem to be saying e mail is working just not attached photos. What size are the photos as some HD photos can't be sent. Your camera may be set at a very high picture size and you can go to settings and lower the size and that may solve your mailing problem.

  • *.CSV attachments scrambled

    Hi,
Am having trouble with automated reports being sent out in *.CSV format.
The emails are going out to suppliers and the reports are being attached in CSV format. However in some instances the attachments are being scrambled and received by the supplier as scrambled text within the email body with no attachment reaching them. Most of the reports are reaching their destinations without issue.
Can anyone tell me what is causing this and what can be done to rectify it?
If it is a problem on the suppliers end (ie a firewall issue) is there an easy fix that I can advise them to implement?
    Cheers.

Outlook 2007 is what I have tested with - the other end might be 2003, 2007 or 2010 on the windows side - and 2011 on hte Mac side.

  • How can I open all attachments in mail at once?

I use Mail to collect messages from the IMAP server rather than logging in through my university's webmail interface.  I often get mail messages with many attachments that all need to be opened at once (example: an admissions application that has 7 or 8 components for me to review).  Clicking on each of them separately is a pain, particularly since I have repetitive strain issues, and the various applications needed to open the attachments (Word and Adobe Reader for example) want to grab focus after every click, forcing me to keep switching programs.
Is there any way I can tell Mail to just open all attachments to a message at once?

    Try:
Select the attachments you want to open. (Use click, shift click, command click, as usual.)  Control-click on (one of) the selected attachments. Then select "Open Selected Attachments".
