Are there Audio Books?

What is the alternative to Ibooks if you don't want to "read" the book, you want to "listen" to the book. Such as books on tape or audio? I thought that I would be able to listen to the book once I downloaded it, but I guess not - I can only read it.
Does anyone know alternatives to this, or is there a way to have Ibooks, play the book over Audio?

Depending on what country that you are in then there might be audiobooks available from Apple - is there an Audiobooks tab at the bottom of the iTunes store app on your iPad ? If you can and do buy audiobooks from Apple then they are one-time only downloads, so you should take your own backup of them (if you buy them on your iPad then you should be able to copy them over to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases). They are supplied to Apple from audible.com, so (depending on where you are) you might be able to buy them directly from their site, in which case I believe that they also allow re-downloads (as opposed to buying them via Apple).
When you have audiobooks on your iPad you will get an Audiobooks option under the More button at the bottom of the Music app.

It's hidden away ... under Books. What you normally see on the far left is "Music" under this is the list with among other things "Books". Click on this and you'll see the result as per the accompanying grabshot:

I downloaded iTunes 11, and now everything is "new". and I don't see any audio books (in german: Hörbücher) in the sidebar - and in the settings, there is no checkbox for this genre. Who can help?

The issue is that I have a 5 speaker Logitech audio system and I would hate to get rid of it because it's still a really nice system. It just doesn't have the correct cables to fit with my macbook. Are there any adapters out there?

that try/catch was just a lazy way to get passed the compiler for this tiny test program. on Sun, both
x = new String(bytes, 0, 2, "ISO-8859-1" );and
x = new String(bytes );produced the same incorrect result. Sun's default is US-ASCII, so it looks like something either wasn't set right, either in the code, or in the OS, or in the java invocation, that it made both ISO-8859-1 and US-ASCII the same or that ISO-8859-1 doesn't even exists and it reverted back to the default. it didn't throw exception, that i know, otherwise, x would not have been set.
Might there be something in the OS or jvm that might relate to ISO-8859-1 support?

Why are there audio clicks between clips?

I am sequencing several clips together (different camera angles and scenes) and when it switches to another clip there in an audible click or pip noise. It's very noticeable especially when there are several short clips right in a row. This has never happened to me before but now it is happening between every clip. I also exported the video to see if the clicks were still there in a "finished" video. they were still there. What do i do?

Shorten or lengthen one or both of the adjacent clips by one or two frames. You will have to see what combination works.

Why are there missing books on the itunes store

HT201269 I can't download my purchased Audio books to my iPhone 5S. Why not?

I upgraded to the iPhone 5S from 3G and after uploading files, apps and photos I noticed that not all my songs were uploaded and neither were any of my audio books. I clicked on the iTunes app and clicked on the MORE icon where the number 214 is in red. When I click, it shows 214 downloads, none are my audio books. WHen I click on song title it acts like its going to begin download and then I get error message: Unable to Dowload Song - could not be downloaded at this time. I hit the retry button and get the same error message. I cannot find and evidence at all on my iPhone that I have any Audio books that I have purchased through iTunes, and they show records of it. I can't get them to download if there is no reference point.

I purchased a audio book for an 83-year-old relative that I'm nursing who is loosing her eyesight and bodily functions in what is now expected to be the last week of her life.
I made the purchase on my 6-Plus synced to one iMac and fully expected it to be available to my iPad mini synced on my second iMac which are all synced to the same iTunes account so that I could leave it in the room with Auntie. Guess what, audio books are not transferable and Apple slugged me twice for the same book just so the old dear could have an audio book from Apple. Apple, I understand you have legal issues with publishers, but as we Australian's would say "Fair go Mate!" Apple can do better, as amply demonstrated with other iTunes file types.

HT1491 Where did my audio books go?

I have bought several audio books from the iTunes Store. I used to access them through the Music app's "audio books" icon (with albums, artists, etc., icons). Suddenly, the "audio books" icon is gone. It's the same with the iTunes program on my computer--the Audio Books section has vanished. Audio books have not been moved over to the iBooks app, which has my written (not audio) books as always.
I sync my purchases between devices with with iCloud, but there is no longer an Audio Books section under "Purchased" in the iTunes Store. When I search the iTunes Store for the book I want to listen to, it gives me the opportunity to spend another $20+ to buy the audio book, but no option to download what I've already bought and paid for.
Where are the audio books that I've already purchased and how do I listen to them?

Audiobooks are a one-time only download, they won't appear in the Purchased section for re-downloading - I think that they are all supplied to Apple by audlibe.com, so I assume that it's them requiring the one-time rule.
If they are not on your devices, nor in the Books section of your computer's iTunes library and you don't have them on a backup, then you can try contacting iTunes support and see if they will grant you a re-download : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption
