Are there two different paths for Pages?

What is newer: pages 5.1 on my MacBook Air or pages 9 on my old desktop?
Pages 9 appears to have options that pages 5.1 does not (such as merge fields).
I also don't see an online manual for pages 5.1.  The latest manual is pages 2.
Now I wonder if Apple created a smaller release of pages for devices like the Air.
My desktop can not run the latest version of the of OS (10.9.1).  I am anticipating buying a new desktop soon.  But I wouldn't want to buy a new desktop and find that I was forced to buy a "crippled" version of pages.

Pages 5 has been out now for 4 months.
You never read any of the reviews or comments in the App Store before you installed it?
Apple has completely rewritten all the iWork and iLife software, also iTunes and to some extent Safari.
In the process they stripped out over 100 features in Pages, added a lot of bugs and made the file formats incompatible with previous versions.
They have even made the file formats incompatible between minor versions such as Pages 5.01 and Pages 5.1.
Whilst there are some features that are improvements in Pages 5, mainly object styles and the drawing tools, everything else is a massive step backwards with no real indication from Apple, except a minor list, about what they will put back, when or even if ever.
The essential issue is what Apple did to its users. This was foisted on them without warning and damaged a lot of their files. Apple has basically abandoned the previous iWork apps, but left them on your Macs as a fall back. The new file format is totally new, bloated and extremely incompatible with everything else, even itself at intervals.
Currently most users are totally fed up, going back to Pages '09 and hunting around for a replacement in the long term.

  • What are the two different rules for organizational data determination

What are the two different rules for organizational data determination???

    Hi
    1) Rule type Responsibilities
want to determine organizational data for individual responsibilities
have not created an organizational model but want to create one
have a lot of organizational units and must only assign a few attributes
    2) Rule type Organizational Model
You would use rule resolution using organizational model if you
have created an organizational model or have distributed a plan to SAP CRM and also want to use this for determining organizational data
assign a lot of attributes to the organizational units and these are to be evaluated

  • Are there any additional templates for pages other than those you get when you install the program? If so, where do you find them?

I am looking for additional templates for iWork, specifically for pages. Does Apple or anyone else have them?

Yes there are plenty of third-party templates available for iWork applications. Try doing a search on Google or software download pages such as MacUpdate or VersionTracker.

  • Why are there two different powercords?

why does the macbook come with two different powercords and under what circumstances should i use them?

The cord with the figure-of-eight connector is basically an extention cord. It replaces the "duck head" connecter to give you a longer lead.
It also has an earth pin. This connects to the outer pair of contacts on the MagSafe adapter and is to dissipate static build up which can sometimes occur. So if you feel a light tingling when connected with the normal duck head, use the extension cable to dissipate the static.

  • Are there address book templates for Pages?

Does anyone know of an Address Book template available for Pages?

    I know that.
The question is why would the O.P. want to create their own blank Address Book in Pages?

  • Are there two different Core i7 2.0 Ghz CPU's for the 15" MBP?

I noticed on Geekbench that some people are getting Intel Core i7-2635QM @ 2.00 GHz CPU's and some are getting Intel Core i7-2620QM @ 2.00 GHz CPU's.
Same clock speed but different performance outcomes. The 2620 chip comes in around 6800-7000 in performance while 2635 gets 8800-9000 which is much closer to the i7-2720QM chip.
Intel does offer both 2620 and 2635 CPU's and I'm trying to figure out if different chips are being sent from Apple or if it is a case where some people chose the wrong CPU in Geekbench. However, wouldn't Geekbench automatically select the CPU that is is testing.
Please chime in and let me know. Below are the links to the tests.
    2635QM chip, http://browse.geekbench.ca/geekbench2/search?q=2635&commit=Search
    2620QM chip, http://browse.geekbench.ca/geekbench2/search?q=94245B3640C91C81+&commit=Search
I also noticed people with 64-bit software of Geekbench are getting higher scores, obviously.

You probably saw bench for the 13" Core i7 MacBook Pro that use an Intel® Core™ i7-2620M processor, which is a dual core (not quad core) core i7 @ 2.7GHz.

  • Why are there two separate packages for extra/zip and extra/unzip?

The package info for both indicate that they come from the same website. It seems strange and inconsistent with what is normally expected. For example, there are not separate packages for gzip and gunzip or bzip2 and bunzip2.

    1. They are represented as distinct programs on the website.
    2. They are developed independently, they even have different version numbers.
    3. Although the binaries are very small, some people only need one of them. I never create zip files, but I have to unzip them often.
    4. They seem to have different dependencies.

  • Why are there two AppleCare plans for a MBP "13? the $239 and the $249?

I just wanted to make sure about my hunch, I believe the $239 priced APP is for the "13 MBP while the $249 priced is for "15 MBPs?
I have a "13 MBP, and if these two types of APP cover the "13 MBP, it is obvious I would go for the cheaper one.

    I have a non-Retina "13 MBP, so I go with the $249 APP right?
    Yes.

  • Is there a way to have two different iTunes for two different iPhones on one Windows User account?

    Using Windows 7, iphone 4.
I've read as many threads on these forums and as many kb's as I could find, but I sttill can't figure it out. I have 2 iPhones. Let's call them, "wife" and "hubby". I want to have two separate iTunes, one for each of the phones. Hubby is the Windoows User. I don't want to set up a different Windows User for wife.
Hubby was the original iPhone. When I plug it in, iTunes recognized it has Hubby's iPhone. Then I unplug Hubby and close iTunes. I plug in Wife but iTunes stll comes up with Hubby under Devices and syncs Hubby's iTunes to Wife's iphone.
I've tried using the shift key when I open iTunes to set up two separate .itl files to no avail.
Is there a way to have two different iTunes for two different iPhones on one Windows User account?
    Thanks!

What happens if you rename the iPhone "Wife" when it shows up as "Hubby", then choose a different set of apps/playlists to sync with? iTunes is supposed to be able to manage multiple devices, each with their own selection of content. Perhaps you "restored" "Wife" with a backup from "Hubby" when you first set things up which is now causing confusion.
To create a new library press and hold down the shift key as you click the icon to start iTunes and keep holding shift until asked to choose or create a library. You need to use the same technique to switch back.

  • Why are there two versions of Adobe Acrobat XI Pro in my Programs

I understand the annoyance and confusing issues with CC and CC 2014 programs.  I also have read in the community of Acrobat installing twice purposely?
My question is all my CC (or CC 2013) programs installed around early Feb.  The newer CC 2014 programs updated (or installed) around late June of 2014.  I have two versions of Adobe Acrobat XI Pro listed in my programs, are they two different versions?  The one installed in Feb shows ver 11.0, the one showing installed mid August is showing as ver 11.0.08.
Can I uninstall ver 11.0? or are these both purposely installed by Adobe.  If purposely, why is Adobe making their installs and updates so confusing and VERY annoying??
    Thanks for any suggestions!

There isn't.  One is Acrobat, the application installation.  The other is Acrobat's Creative Cloud licensing installation.  Do NOT try to remove one.
This is kind of documented in the Creative Cloud's Acrobat deployment documentation:  Creative Cloud Help | Deploying Adobe Acrobat
    Uninstalling Acrobat on Windows
Once you have deployed Acrobat using the package in the Exceptions folder, you can uninstall it using the usual process for uninstalling msi packages. There are two MSI packages that are necessary to uninstall in a standalone package.  One for the main MSI package that the Creative Cloud Packager creates which is for licensing and the second MSI package which is the Acrobat Pro MSI package which is in the Exceptions folder.
Here is the command line syntax for uninstalling Acrobat:
    Syntax Example:
    msiexec.exe /x <path to Acrobat msi file> /qn
Here is the command line syntax for uninstalling the Creative Cloud Packager licensing package:
    Syntax Example:
    msiexec.exe /uninstall <path to the CCP msi file> /quiet

  • System fan error on g62-352ca on startup. are there two fans ie a cpu fan and a system fan?

I get a system fan error on power up?     Are there two fans in the G52-352CA?   Ie a general system fan and a CPU cooling fan or just the one CPU/heatsink fan?
If it is the CPU/heatsink fan then there are 4 part numbers for different options.   Is there some way to tell from the model number or features as to which is needed.    I would prefer to have the part in hand before opening everything up.    Are there better fans to buy and if so how do I find them?       This unit was always running a little on the warm/hot side,

.  I have Adobe Actobat 7.0 Standard for quite a while, and I'm happy with it. I use it for mainly filings at the federal court.  They require PDF.  I use two computers in two different states for work.  I realize my Adobe 7.1 is a few years old, but sometimes I have difficulty using it with the other days downloading a boarding pass, and e filing at the USDC. .  There's a problem with Adobe Flash, media, etc.  and other Adobe programs, (which I use for downloading boarding passes for airlines, etc.) so basically I have to delete these other Adobe programs, besides the Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Standard if I want to 7.0 Standard to work.  I periodically download the updates, but there's still a problem. My question is:  Can or should I purchase another program to update the present Adobe Acrobat 7.0 standard, or just buy a new program such as the Adobe 11?  Am I mistakenly doing something wrong, such as when I download?  I'm an old valued customer so I don't want to spend a lot of money since I am replacing my Dell XP for a new computer now, and my other computer is a Dell Vista.
    I'd appreciate your valued advice.

If you are getting a new computer (for a PC it would have Win 7 or 8), then you will need to purchase XI if you wish to continue using Acrobat. Acrobat 7 is not compatible with these systems (and probably the same for MAC systems), though sometimes workarounds are possible, though not easy to use. I guess the answer is to buy the new version. Try http://www.adobe.com/products/catalog/software._sl_id-contentfilter_sl_catalog_sl_software _sl_mostpopular.html, click on the Buy for Acrobat, and then select the version you want.

On the ones that show up with Phoenix as the time zone the times change. Also I have had some of the times showing on the calendar at an hour different that when I open the Appointment. It will show the correct time, but on the Calendar it is sometimes different. "
From that information, it makes sense that your calendar is off.
Phoenix is in another time zone part of the year.   When daylight saving changed, Salt Lake City and Denver changed, but Phoenix did not.   You may have set time and date to auto, but the Mac knows the time difference and is compensating for it.
