Argh! New line not being connected, although BT Op...

Hi,
New customer, new line ordered 03/08/11.  Existing phone provide is VM. There is a BT Master socket in house but socket condition unknown.
BT Engineer due to come out 19/08.  On 8:03 on 19/08, got a text to say they had cancelled the visit as socket & wiring exists and everything is active (phone & BB). 
Except it's all dead.  Master socket, behind faceplate gives no dial tone or power to phone.  If I ring the line from a mobile, it rings, but nothing in the house.  Tried different phones etc.  There are 2 wires connected to the back of the master socket NTE5 plate.
So, 2 engineer callouts 19/08 and 20/08.  19/08 cancelled on day and 20/08 cancelled without notice.  Bear in mind I had paid and ordered an engineer visit.  Grrrrrr!

    What kind of laptop (MacBook, Windows PC; running what operating system level)?
    What kind of connection are you expecting, for what purpose?
    Was it working before, or is this the first time you have tried this combination?

  • New bookmarks not being saved

    Beginning today my new bookmarks are not being saved. I read several KB articles and have tried:
    - making sure the bookmarks file is not read-only
    - reset browser.places in about:config
    - renamed the places.sqlite and places.sqlite-journal, and restarted Firefox.
    None of that worked.
    Is there another fix to try?

    Bookmarks are not being saved.
    I still have my existing bookmarks.
    All existing bookmarks work.
    But when I click on "bookmark this page", it never gets added.
    There's really nothing to take a screenshot of, other than my old bookmarks.

    Hmmm, which mail site is this?
    One possibility is that you had a tab-related extension that automatically opened regular links in a new tab, and that the extension was disabled because it was incompatible with the latest version. To check for disabled add-ons, visit the Tools > Add-ons dialog.
    As a short term workaround: you probably know you can force a link to open in a new tab by holding Ctrl when you click the link, or by using the "middle" mouse button (often the scroll wheel). I find that quicker than right-clicking the link and choosing Open in new tab.

    Was wondering why device will not stay connected?

    It's in the Bluetooth device list and shows connected and after a time it disconnects. The device is a Motorola Roadster.

    Does the iOS device connect to other networks?
    Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
    Did the iOS device connect before?
    Try the following to rule out a software problem:                 
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
    .- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network       
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • New mail not being indicated in nested folders

    I have just noticed that new mail does not get indicated unless the folder in which it has been stored is opened. As I have a lot of mail folders, this isn't practical. It worked fine before I installed Leopard (said installation also rendering my computer unusable for about 6 hours incidentally until I could decipher command line instructions to rescue it), but now I have no way of knowing if I have new mail without opening every single folder I have.
    Actually I didn't notice, I had a phone call from an irate client wanting to know why I hadn't responded to her email of 6 hours previous. On accessing her folder I found the emails, then opened up all the other folders to discover I had new mail all over the place, this instigating a pretty hectic period where I tried to cram a whole days email replying into 30 seconds.
    So is this a bug, a preference setting or any idea what?
    I must say that so far Leopard seem to be the most successful bug introduction Apple has ever pulled off. Maybe only 8.6 was more spectacular, what with it's hard disc destruction mode.

    Glad to see that someone else has the same problem as me!!
    I only have about 10 different folders with rules attached so I've taken to clicking on each folder when checking for new mail.
    It's incredibly annoying though and is again a problem only since I upgraded to Leopard.
    Anyone got any ideas or insight?!

  • Brand new Ipad not auto connecting on wifi network

    I've read the old posts. I've adjusted the brightness and turned off auto brightness. I've changed my dhcp proxy to auto.
    Same as everyone else, my macbook, ibook and iphones all connect to the network and access internet with NO PROBLEMS.
    The Ipad will join the network, but will not access online content. Always times out.
    This just started happening on day 2.
    We all know this began back in early April.
    I'm running a brand new Buffalo Nfiniti router with updated firmware. Again, every other apple device works just fine.

    iPad stopped auto connecting 5 minutes after non use. Then I tried this and it worked. Guess I have to do this every freaking time I want to use the net.

    Hi, I recently had a BT land line service set up and, although it is possible to dial the BT helpline, I cannot make calls to other numbers. The helpline service itself didn't provide any solutions to the problem beyond offering to send out an engineer. I've run the line test from this website. I have also checked that the problem is common to more than one phone. So I'm kind of stumped. Can anyone help?

    Do you have calling plan with BT?
    If so, the information you have been given by the helpdesk sounds right, if you cant make any outgoing calls it must be a fault with the line, especially if you notice the problem on more than one handset.  We have some useful stuff on www.bt.com/help I know you mention running through the line test but have you check the other self help here?

  • New nano not being recognised by itunes but is showing in my computer

    i've just bought a new ipod nano after having had an old ipod mini, installed new itunes, loaded it up, will not acknowledge that the nano is plugged in. have tried everything suggested on help site, tried using older versions of itunes but still nothing works. am slowly going crazy! please help!

    found out what you need to do from another website, googled my problem and it came up with this answer:
    if your computer see your ipod as a drive,right-click to it,then click format.be sure it is FAT32 and 'quick format' box is checked.
    when the format is finished,go to ipod updater and restore your ipod.

  • New page not being opened in new window when using a dynamic menu

    I have read an earlier post about this but I didn't really see a solution I could implement there. I have a dynamic menu, and I want one item on it to open a new frame. Here is the module code from the template.
    {module_menu, version="2", menuId="901683", moduleTemplateGroup="Default"}
    It is the main template menu from the Tribeca site template.
    I have tried inserting (_blank) into the appropriate target frame, and still it opens in the same window.  I gathered from the previous post that it was a version issue, but as you can see, the code says "version 2"... or am I mis-reading that?
    I couldn't find where to make changes. The previous post suggested I look for the CSS on the home template, but I am not using a home template.
    Any thoughts?

    Thanks Liam, it worked. I need a clarification if you can... I don't need all the items in the menu to open in a new window, so under the menu itself, under the individual items, I would set the target frame to "_self" for the items I need to remain in the same window? Or is it an all or none thing?

    hi, what would stop requisition lines from not be generated?
    they are for BTB items, our workaround at the moment is to create the po's manually

    Have you run the Autocreate requisitions program?
    Have you run the Requisition Import program?
    Is the status of the order line supply eligible?

  • New photo not being showing up for book selection

    I wanted to add a photo to my book. I put it in my iPhoto file with all the photos I am putting into my book. When I go to the book, the new photo is not showing up with the other photos for me to select it. Anybody know why?

    How exactly are you doing that? If you are doing it in Finder, don't.
    Import the photo into iPhoto as you would normally import your photos. Then, just drag it into the ''Book" folder that is listed in the source pane on the left. You will then see it in the row of photos when you open that book file.

  • New files not being copied

    I have the following workflow to backup documents to a thumb drive:
    1) Get specified files
    2) Copy Finder items (to thumb drive)
    3) View results
    I originally set this up with about 15 files. Lately, I have added some new files to the first action, but they are never copied. These files are not protected by the File Vault and all disk permissions have been repaired. I cannot figure out why these newer files will not copy.

    I just put View Results in and figured out the problem. When one of the files was added, the path was empty (I'm not sure how that happened). As a result, all files in the list "below" that file, were not copied. I fixed the path and now it works fine.

  • Why are updates on failed line not being sent?

    my line has been out since since Monday and today is thursday. I had a couple of texts on tuesday morning after reporting the fault on monday night and thats been it.
    why are the updates non-existent? or is it a case of 'we don't know whats wrong?

    Openreach do not deal directly with the public only service providers
