ASCII import in InDesignCS2...

Hi Everyone,
What is the ASCII value for "Solid Square Box" character? We are using ITC Zapf Dingbats Std" font family. And how can we import this into InDesign by "Get Text with XTags" format. Please Suggest...
Thiyagu

"XTags", aren't those specifically for Quark XPress? Do you have a plugin that
i reads
XTags and inserts them into InDesign?
The following works with "InDesign Tagged Text", as found by typing a character into a file and exporting it as Tagged Text. You'll have to find out if it works or not for XTags ...
You can insert
i any
character using its Unicode, simply by using a "< 0x25A0 >" notation (without the spaces before and after the brackets).
ITC Zapf Dingbats Std -- does this font has proper Unicode codes for its characters? I'm used to the old version, where "A" was the first character, "B" the next, etc. The Std suffix seems to indicate this is a modern version. In any case, if you need to insert the font name as well in the file, just put it right before the code: "< cFont:ITC Zapf Dingbats Std >", and right after the code reset with "< cFont: >".

  • Preview field length in DIAdem ascii import assistant too small

I am evaluating the DIAdem 8.0 software, and cannot seem to get around the field length of the preview in the ascii import assistant. The default field is 10240 bytes, my file header is much larger than this (I don't make the files, I just use them . If I can't see the headers, I cannot properly import the file. Is there a variable available to increase the default size on the preview field? Adjusting the memory options doesn't seem to affect the field size at all...

Could you ZIP your ASCII file and upload it here, I would like to try to find a solution to your problem and need a file for testing.
You might want to provide a file with 'uncritical' i.e. non-confidential data, as everybody will be able to download your file once you make it available here.
I look forward to receiving your file.

  • Blackberry 8350i using Desktop Manager 4.7 ASCII importer

Blackberry Desktop Manager no longer supports Lotus Organizer 5.0.  I tried using the ASCII import feature and get a Windows XP error message 0x80040057 View Documentation.  Does anyone know what the conflict is? Is there a Mapping problem?  Can't get past Address Book where the program bombs out.  Any help would be appreciated.

there is a method involving enabling detailed logs on the Desktop Manager. Then it will give information about that 227th item. check the forum or th public knowledge base (click on the "SUPPORT" button on top of the present page)
if I were you, I'd just wipe the calendar database on the device, do the sync, and when it stops : open the calendar on the device and see the last event synchronized. it should be the 226th.

Use notepad instead. To open notepad :

    then enter
there will be a window with a light blue notepad in the top left corner.

  • Input ascii file to diadem with ascii-import filter

    Hello,
i want to import an ascii-file to diadem7.02 and want to save it as an .DAT-File.
i do this with Fileload and with the ascii-import filter. My problem is, when i want to record a autosequence, and i open the ascii-import filter und push the Ctrl-A key, it doesn´t record this window in the autosequence.
Is this unpossible in DIAdem or have anyone a solution for it.

Thank you Brad for your help,
but this solution is only for Diadem 8 and i have version 7.02.
I have hardly experience in Diadem 8 and nothing in vbs-programming so i had to solve this problem in Diadem 7.

  • How to read in date/time with ascii import

I have an ascii data file with a time column in the following format
    ddd hh:nn:ss
the seconds are like 11.1234567, so it would look like
    234 12:23:11.1234567
I have tried different format options to read this in
with no luck. The data I read in I am then using in CLIP/Insight. The video has this time on it and I need it in the data set to be able to sync them up.

The problem with this data format seems to be the 'ddd' at the beginning of the data format.
DIAdem expexts the 'dd' to be a day of a month, not a day in a year. I can offer you a solution though:
Please upload or send me two of your data files and we will create a little script in DIAdem that will import your data format and make it available in DIAdem and DIAdem CLIP.
You can upload them here in the forum or send them to me at:
    [email protected]
Please compress the files (with ZIP or similar technology) if they are large.

  • ASCII import problem with symbol 0xFF

When I'm importing ASCII file which contain the special symbols like 0xFF it's recognized as fields separator. The impcat is incorrect structure. I need this symbol because it is cyrillic character which appears in contact names very often. How may I import contacts with correct names.

    Jean,
This appears to be a bug in the way the export program runs on 9.2. It seems to be a problem only in the API call that you showed us: wwv_flow_api.create_report_columns and its p_pk_col_source=> value. This can get corrupted when you have a tabular form column that uses a Primary Key Source Type of Custom PL/SQL Function or Existing Sequence, which is a choice you make in the builder wizards or later on the report column edit page in the Tabular Form Element region.
If you can find all of these situations (using the builder) by looking at the report columns for reports related to the new 1.6 features that you mentioned, then change them all to use an existing trigger instead (create a dummy trigger T_DUMMY first), you might be able to get an uncorrupted export file. The next step, which is an unofficial workaround, is to find those API calls in the export file, looking for     p_pk_col_source_type=> 'T',
p_pk_col_source=> 'T_DUMMY',Then change the 'T' to 'S' and the trigger name to the correct sequence for the column involved and that should do it. If you need to enter a PL/SQL function, change 'T' to 'F' and enter the PL/SQL code in place of the trigger name.
We're still investigating this problem, so please let us know if this helps you out in the short term.

  • How do I import non-numeric data into DIAdem?

I have some non-numeric data in an Excel file which I would like to import into DIAdem. DIAdem recognizes the file and imports some of the data, but it only imports those cells that are purely numeric. Cells containing non-numeric characters are ignored. But I need that non-numeric data! How do I force DIAdem to import everything? (Some controls appear in the import dialog that seem like they might be useful here but they're greyed out.)

    Hi There,
You can not load text columns from ASCII files into DIAdem 8.1 DATA channels (numbers only). But the ASCII Import Wizard will let you send those text values to either a separate ASCII file, which DIAdem can use to put them on a graph as labels, or to a DIAdem string array, which DIAdem can use to display them at various places in its environment.
The below attachments demonstrate reading an ASCII text column into a DIAdem string array and displaying the values on a DIAdem table in GRAPH. Note that the index values of the string array are placed in a DIAdem DATA channel.

  • Importing ansi date time format into diadem

    Hi,
I have an ANSI data log txt file with the time channel format  30/03/2006 15:51:08.846 and i am trying import into DIADEM  using the date/time format dd/mm/yyyy hh:nn:ss.fff , but when the file is imported, the time channel cells appear as NO VALUE. Can anybody help please ?
    AdeK

    Hi Adek,
Here is a DataPlugin which loads your data file into DIAdem 10.2.  There are a number of advantages to using a DataPlugin over the ASCII Import Wizard, so long as your data files follow a similar data file structure.  To register the DataPlugin, just detach the ZIP file, unzip the URI file within, then double-click on the URI file in Windows Explorer.  After that, you will be able to load your TXT data files by dragging&dropping them directly from the NAVIGATOR tree view or Search Results into the Data Portal on the right hand side of DIAdem.  DataPlugins also support selective loading, register loading, reduced loading, and DataFinder indexing, so all of these immediately become available to you with your TXT files.  Note also that header lines 2-4 are now declared as both File and Group properties.
Ask if you have questions using the DataPlugin,

  • Outlook not showing up in Synchronization Configuration

I am a new user of Blackberry Desktop Software.  Over the past 2 years, I have been syncing my Blackberry with my Outlook through our company's Enterprise Exchange server wirelessly.  Now that I have left the company, I am trying to use and configure the Blackberry Desktop Software on my own.
I downloaded and installed Desktop Software v4.6.  I am on Windows Vista and am using MS Outlook 2007 installed.  My phone is a Blackberry 7130.
My problem is that when I try to configure Synchronization, MS Outlook 2007 does NOT show up as an option.  The only options I see are (1) Yahoo! and (2) Ascii Importer/Exporter. This is true whether I am setting up synchronization for my Calendar, Tasks, MemoPad or Address Book.
How do I configure the software so that I can sync my phone with Outlook?  Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

It sounds like the IT Policy from the BES you were connected to, restricts it from syncing with any other outlook user etc..
try wiping the device and or calling ur prev emp and getting them to send a blank IT policy to the device, but that would mean u would have to connect to their BES again which they prob wouldn't like.
There is info on the net on how to remove the IT policy but I am not authorised to give out such info..
    Sorry

  • Outlook 2007 (on vista) will not show when trying to synchronize in v4.3

I've installed DM v4.3 on vista and and want to synch with MS Outlook (2007). However, in the synch configuration (calender, contacts, etc.) my options are:
    <none>
    <Yahoo>
    <ASCII Importer/Exporter>
Where is Outlook?? Does anyone know why it's not showing up? I'm not using an enterprise server. I have seen this work on the same set-up so I know it's not a compatibility issue. Any help would be greatfully appreciated!!

    Nikon E5000
Do you mean a NIkon CP 5000 (Coolpix 5000)? Aperture supports many raw formats, but not all, because the raw support  has to be camera specific. Not all NEF files are in the same format - all Nikon cameras will call their raw files NEF.
For some cameras Aperture never included raw support. The currently supported cameras are listed here:
    http://www.apple.com/aperture/specs/raw.html
It looks like your camera is not on this list, so if you want to shoot raw with that camera, develope the raw files using a different raw converter (Adobe's dng converter or the suftware that came with your camera) and import tiff or dng files to Aperture.
    Regards
    Léonie

  • DM 5 does not recognize Outlook 2003

    Hello.
I recently got a new laptop & installed the latest Desktop Manager - 5.0.1.37.  When I try to sync, I get to the screen where it asks to select a desktop application, and Outlook is not listed (Options are: <None>, ASCII Importer/Exporter, Yahoo!).
I am running Outlook 2003 SP2 (this is the version currently supported by my company, so I can't change it).
How can I get DM to recognize Outlook as an available desktop application?
On my previous laptop I was running Outlook 2003 (no service packs) but had DM 5.0.1.18.
Is there a fix available?  Do I need to downgrade from .37 to .18?  How do I do that?
    Thanks!

Thanks for your reply.  First, I am using BB Desktop Manager 5.0.   I set up the sync parameters and had problems.  I tried to sync only the calendar after consolidating several family calendars into one ICS file.  I selected this file but still had the problems noted in the log.  This is similar to the problems I had when I tried to import my contacts into my BB.  In order to avoid duplicates I had to sync one way to the device.  I would only get so far and it would kick out.
My email sever is from our company.  I am unsure how to find the answer to that question.
