[Ask] SAP Customer Message Costly?

Gurus,
I'm curious about one thing, especially after reading Solution Manager service delivery platform.
Is it that you should be careful when sending message to SAP?
What I mean by 'be careful' is, is it that when you send message, asking a question to SAP Global, using, for example component BC-DB-ORA, you get charged of it?
What I'm pretty confused is, customer paid SAP for enterprise support. So which message, under what circumstances will be charged to customer? And if it is 'chargeable message', will SAP inform you first about it?
Employees in my company said that all message except component xxx- will be charged $250.
Well, is that true? And just how free can we get support from SAP?
It'll be nice if solution manager is used as service desk, then when there's problem, for example from end users, it'll be sent to SAP, and SAP give recommendation. As part of the service of course.
Can someone light me up about this Customer Message price scheme, please?
Thanks for your help.
Best Regards,

Bobby,
As always with SAP licensing, "It depends".
Most customers of SAP also pay for a support contract.  Generally, the support you get for free and the support you get for fee is spelled out in your contract.  For standard support, you get virtually unlimited messages with SAP for free, as long as the subject deals with standard functionality (they won't help you with custom programs, or at least they won't do it for free).  And yes, my experience is that they always tell you when you will be charged.  I never heard the $200-per-call-for-non-xxx-messages deal, but I have always been blessed to work under an ongoing support contract.  Basically, the contract supports any module for which we own a licence.
You really need to talk to your SAP Account manager.  He can tell you in layman's terms what your support contract (if any) covers.

  • Raising Customer Messages with SAP OSS on BCS issues

    Hi guys,
    I'd be keen to know everyone's opinion on raising customer messages with SAP OSS, in particular on BCS.
    Often I find that my colleagues are hesitant to raise a note with SAP because they think it either takes too long or they don't get a satisfactory answer.
    Whereas as soon as I see something fishy, that I cannot explain I will check my logic once more, check on SDN, check existing OSS notes, then raise a Customer Message immediately (while I continue to investigate/test).
    This is partly due to my experience that half the time I feel like a guinea pig in BCS, perhaps because BCS is not as widespread as other modules and i may be the first to try something so may be first to experience the problem.
    The first line response (often from Shanghai) usually tries to send the message straight back but I find with a little persistence, clear (and irrefutable) documentation , you soon get through to the experts in Germany (or is it Czech Rep?) who actually understand the issue.
    The client has paid a lot of money for the service through their SAP licensing and maintenance fees, so I have no qualms about 'reporting a product error' when I see one.
    Also, I find a lot of BCS documentation is out of date, not updated as new releases/EHPs come out, eg I recently relied on the contents of OSS note 936590, which was wrong for BCS 604. So I raised a customer message and requested that they update it, which has now been done - this is too late for me but might help someone else.
    Raising a Customer Message with OSS is not an excuse to avoid doing your job, but where there is a genuine error in BCS, I encourage others to raise OSS notes and persis with them until a satisfatcory response is received.

    Concur with TheScotsman.
    The situation is almost the same: the 1st line support (India) very often beat back the costomer message without going deep into the problem. However, if we persist and provide additional details (or when the message was made very professionally and bypassed the 1st line) the message was rerouted to consultants from Czeck Rep.). In this case the progress was significant. Since the client do not provide access to the system, in a couple of times we made a remote session: the support guy gave directions what to do in the system and where to look for some details. The problems were solved in a half an hour.

  • Credit block SAP inbox message

    Hello All,
    This is my actual requirement:
    When the sales order goes into a credit block, KRML output triggers SAP inbox message to the credit manager/credit representative as per the output records maintained.
    In standard SAP, the inbox message is read as
    "Order for customer XXXX blocked due to credit limit being
    exceeded."
    where XXXX denotes the customer number.
    My requirement is to bring out sales order number, Sales order value, Ship to party name, Reason for Credit block (Like Oldest open item, dynamic check etc) etc in this SAP inbox message.
    I checked KRML output mails and titles and i added the above fields as eg. &VBAK-VBELN&, &VBAK-NETWR& etc but this is not getting reflected in the SAP inbox message.
    I am unable to figure out from where the standard mail message "Order for customer XXXX blocked due to credit limit being exceeded." is coming from. If the source of this message can be found, other fields can be added to it as per my requirement.
    Please let me know if anyone has any idea how to achieve this.

  • PO line item material can not be changed. SAP gives message 06387.

    Hello,
    When we create purchase orders with reference to Quotations, SAP is not letting us change the PO part number after the PO has been created.  SAP generates message 06387 saying that 'Agreement item contains a different material'. Because we created this PO from quotation, SAP is giving a message saying that PO part number and RFQ part number are different.  In our case, since ours is a prototype environment, our part numbers change very often. Most of the times, there is no change in the PO value except a minor change in the design drawing. We don't want to delete the PO and re-create it because we are doing approvals at the PO level. We don't want to send this PO again for approval.
    We customized above message to Warning in the configuration but SAP is ignoring it.
    This happens only if a PO is created with reference to RFQ.
    Is there any workaround solution for  this?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Shyam

    Hi Shyam,
    You can consider to use MPN functionality to cover this issue, so the internal number still the same, but you can change the part number during PO.

  • Display a custom message on click of a Top Level Navigation Object

    Hi Experts,
    when the user clicks on the top level navigation entry link(for any application), I would like a custom message to be displayed to the end-users which would be maintained in a text file in a KM folder.
    Currently, on click of the top level navigation link a  workset map is displayed. But now I would like to read the text file and display the message (if any) maintained in the text file.
    The message (if any) should be rendered before the workset map is displayed, or be rendered as an additional element on the same page as the workset map perhaps as an additional iView .
    It is essential that the message content should not be cached by the Portal (in other words, the deactivation of the system message should not require a cache flush to become visible to the user).
    The goal is to warn the users before they they access the applications of the workset map.
    Can someone please guide me on this???
    Regards,

    Hi,
    See some info regarding Portal Eventing:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce72/helpdata/en/a5/8d1e72c20f4db2b9f577b47c1a47da/content.htm
    In the link above you can see that it's possible to raise an event and subscribe to it.
    Each time you navigate in the portal, the portal raises the UpdateTLN event so all you need it to subscribe to it in an iview that is located on the same page.
    Since the masthead iview is in the same window (above the TLN - see the following link) you can put your javascript function in it.

  • Use solution manager to create customer message and apply oss notes

    Hello All,
    Is it possible to use SAP Solution Manager to create/ open Customer Messages and for the application of OSS notes in satellite systems via solution manager?

    Please let me your your expert thoughts!

    Hi,
    By using Service Desk scenario of Solution Manager you can convert an issue to an OSS message and follow it up.
    Refer the  [Link|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_smehp1/helpdata/en/b3/64c33af662c514e10000000a114084/frameset.htm]

  • Com.sap.aii.messaging.util.URI$MalformedURIException: no scheme

    Hello Experts,
    We are still configuring our XI in a RFC-XI-SOAP Scenario. We did all the Interface- and Message- Mapping, we configured our Business System and Business Services. But if we send a message from our R/3 4.6c system to the Web Service via the XI, we receive the following error messages: “MP: exception caught with cause com.sap.aii.messaging.util.URI$MalformedURIException: no scheme”. The error appears in the SOAP Adapter together with a com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.RecoverableException with the message “no scheme”.
    Does anyone know, why this error appears? What can we do to avoid this error?
    Thanks for the answer! I appreciate every kind of answer.
    I’m looking forward to read your answers.

    Hello Bhavesh,
    after we have checked the SOAP Receiver, we got the following exception:

  • Customs-declaration: Customizing message E0010 (e-Mail)

    Hello,
    if there are sombody who is able to describe me, how i can customize the Message E0010. I am getting the Message M0940 but the Email-Message doesn't appear in the customs declaration. I have already defined attributes of rules for defaulting Data (Messages), but it's doesn't work. I haven't customized the message E0010 in the IMG not yet.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi, Sameer,
    in the first step, I have defined rules for the output determination:
    Default data selection:
         Procedure for Defaulting Data: "COEDE"
         Legal Regulation: "ATLAS"
    For example:
    Process Templ.         Process        Activity      Message
    CUSDE                      CUSEX         EXAZ       M0940
    CUSDE                      CUSEX         EXAZ       P0010
    CUSDE                      CUSEX         EXAZ       E0010
    But at this point only the messages M0940 and P0010 were found in the customs declaration.
    I have looked in the determination log in the customs declaration and the EMail message E0010 can not be found, because it is not in the ..
    Process: CUSEX; Activitiy sequenze: EXAZ; activity: EXZAA
    and
    Process: CUSEX; Activitiy sequenze: EXAZ; activity: EXZAD
    and
    Process: CUSEX; Activitiy sequenze: EXAZ; activity: CUSEX
    and
    Process: CUSEX; Activitiy sequenze: EXAZ; activity: EXZAB
    After this, I have tried to find out in the customizing why the Email/Message can not be found.
    Customizing:
    IMG
    1. SAP Global Trade Services
    2. SAP Customs Management
    3. General settings
    4. Define Control Settings for Communication Processes
    Here, I was able to see that the activity that contains the E-Mail Message which is called 'EXZAM'  can not be found in the message determination log.  For Example the activity 'CUSEX' contains the print Messages.
    When I display the Subsequent Activities of the Activity Sequence 'EXAZ':
    1. Activtiy sequence: EXAZ
    The following Subsequent Activities are shown:
    10     EXZAA
    20     EXZAD
    30     CUSEX
    40     EXZAB
    50     EXZAM  is not listed
    The activity "EXZAM" is not listed in the subsequent activities. I think that is the reason, why the message E0010 doesn't appear in the customs declaration. The activity 'EXYAM' is not listed as an subsequent Activity of the Activity sequence "EXAZ".
    Now I have added the activity manually in the subsequent Activitiy listu2026.. but the message E0010 still doesn't appear in the customs declaration. If I display the Message determination Log, the activity EXZAM is still not shown in the list.
    Important:
    Only when I customize the message into the Activity CUSEX, which contains the print messages, then the message will be found in the declaration. It is funny because it's works. But I think that is not the right way to solve this problem. Can you tell me which customizing setting are missing?
    Thanks for your help, Cüneyt

  • SAP Customer Exit - Customer Namespace (i.e. /ABC/)

    Hi ABAP Experts,
    The question I would like to ask is when taking advantage of a SAP customer exit, can you assign the work to a customer namespace (i.e. /ABC/) ?
    The problem seems to be that we want the majority of our custom development in our customer reserved namespace i.e. /ABC/.  Yet, to activate a customer exit, the ABAP code follows the old "Z" standard.  For example, customer exit EXIT_RMMR01RS_003 has the include ZXM08U03.  To activate this exit, one would create the include ZSM08U03 and include customer code.  Unfortunately, the include ZSM08U03 can't be assigned to a package with /ABC/.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Jay

    i dont think so. the reserved name spaces are for specific vendor products, while exits are for all customers.so exits would not be able to use a reserved name space.. but within that exit ZXM08U03 you can create another include using /ABC/ name space

  • Decision Pop Up: buttons with custom message

    Hi Experts,
    I have a requirement to display buttons with custom message on it for a decision pop up instead of 'Yes' or 'No'. Please guide me how do I do it?
    Thanks for your help.
    Regards,
    Surekha.

    Hi,
    if you want to do this, you first have to Create a new Context Node e.g. u2018DATASTORAGEu2019 in your Viewwith only a Dummy value attribute to store the custom buttons and catch which button was clicked.
    Then you have to call the popup in the Event Handler. Here is some sample code from a project I used to display a popup with buttons Yes and Cancel, but instead of these Yes and Cancel, you can put any custom name of the button (in lv_s1 and lv_s2).
    Put combination of Buttons (Yes - Cancel) in global table *****
              ls_btn_comb-name  = '99'.
              lv_s1 = cl_bsp_runtime=>if_bsp_runtime~get_otr_text( 'CRM_BSP_WD_TOOLS/BTN_YES' ).
                CONDENSE lv_s1 NO-GAPS.
              lv_s2 = cl_bsp_runtime=>if_bsp_runtime~get_otr_text( 'CRM_BSP_WD_TOOLS/BTN_CANCEL' ).
                CONDENSE lv_s2 NO-GAPS.
                CONCATENATE lv_s1 ',' lv_s2 INTO ls_btn_comb-value.
                APPEND ls_btn_comb TO GT_BTN_COMB.
    Put actual buttons in global table on level of Context Node 'DATASTORAGE' *****
                ls_buttons-id = 'btnYes'.
                ls_buttons-text = 'Yes'.
                ls_buttons-on_click = 'YES'.
                APPEND ls_buttons TO ztyped_context->datastorage->gt_buttons_custom.
                ls_buttons-id = 'btnCancel'.
                ls_buttons-text = 'Cancel'.
                ls_buttons-on_click = 'CANCEL'.
                ls_buttons-icon_src = '/SAP/BC/BSP/SAP/thtmlb_styles/sap_skins/default/images/cancel.gif'.
                APPEND ls_buttons TO ztyped_context->datastorage->gt_buttons_custom.
    Call Confirmation Popup *****
                  IF confirm_popup IS NOT BOUND.
                    lv_title = ls_item_dated_entry-ITEM_NO.
                    lv_text =  'Exam date has already passed. Do you want to override?' .
                      CALL METHOD comp_controller->window_manager->create_popup_2_confirm
                        EXPORTING
                          iv_title = lv_title
                          iv_text = lv_text
                          iv_btncombination = '99'
                          iv_custombuttons = ztyped_context->datastorage->gt_buttons_custom
                        RECEIVING
                          rv_result = confirm_popup.
                      CONFIRM_POPUP->SET_ON_CLOSE_EVENT( iv_event_name = 'CONFIRM_POPUP_CLOSED'
                                                         iv_view = me ).
                      CONFIRM_POPUP->OPEN( ).
                  ENDIF.
    Then the ON_CLOSE event, you can use the "standard" coding in case of decision popup.
    Hope this helps.
    Kind regards,
    Carl

    Hi Milind,
    you can only change a message if the message is at status 'customer action', but if I understand you corretly you have sended the message to SAP and you want to change now something.
    This is possible but you cannot do it by your own. For doing this please call the customer center of SAP, the colleagues at the hotline their can make the change and assist you by finding the message. Which number you have to dial is listed in SAP service marketplace
    service.sap.com
    -> choose SAP Support Center Addresses
    or check SAP note 16481.
    Hope this help.
