Ask to OneDrive for business developers to modify a recently changed behaviour of application (since update KB2881087)?

Hi.
Since update KB2881087, OneDrive for business application has started behaving in a problematic way. Is there a way to report/ask to OneDrive for business developers to restore old behaviour?
All problem is explained at
http://community.office365.com/en-us/f/156/p/254376/790491.aspx#790491
The problem is that before that update (win 7 64 bit ultimate edition en-US), if the startup folder link was removed, that link did not reappear (link inserted only at first folder sync). After that update, the program checks the startup folder link existence
and if not present, re-creates it. I use bitlocker in just one partition, where I put the sync folder. After that update I have to remember to delete the link every time I shut down the computer in order to avoid the OneDrive for business job deletion at next
startup when the program does not find the folder (protected into bitlocker).
I need to deploy OneDrive for business into my organization but this problem prevents this.
I would suggest to developers, as told in the office365 forum, to remove the startup check or, better, to:
- have an option to modify startup check behaviour or
- make OneDrive resilient to folder not found behaviour (if it is not found, simply pause syncing -not removing the whole job- , waiting for the folder re-appearing, very useful if using bitlocker)
Thanks,
Diegus.

  • Synchronization issues on OneDrive for Business

    Hi,
Our OneDrive for Business experience is very confusing here. We are in the middle of a few synchronization problems that our users don't understand.
Could not insert my screenshots, so please pardon me if the description is not clear. Full topic with screenshots can be found here: http://community.office365.com/en-us/f/172/p/273549/836906.aspx
    Description of the problem
We have a lot of users using OneDrive for Business to synchronize three shared libraries stored on a on-premise installation of SharePoint 2013. The first setup has run (almost) smoothly, and all my users had a synchronized version of the files on the server
(around 2GB of data). We are in the beginning of our deployment, so the users have not used it very intensively yet, and probably this is why problems start appearing.
On computer 1, a file/folder reorganization has been realized within one folder (folder "TRAININGS") of one the libraries: creating new folders, moving files from one folder to another, renaming other folders and deleting old folders. Changes have
been processed, and Computer 1 is now in sync with server: they now share the same file/folder organization under the "TRAININGS" folder. Also, on Computer 1, all folders and files show the "green tick" on their icon, showing that sync
    is completed.
On computer 1, the OneDrive icon in the Windows task bar shows the synchronization is complete and does not show any sync issues.
On computer 2, the folder "TRAINING" is a mess. The folder "TRAINING"'s icon has been the "blue arrows" for a while. Inside, I have a mix of "green tick", "blue arrows" and no icon status.
Every now and then, the folder CATEGORIES turns to "green tick", then goes back to "blue arrows".
If we drill down inside the sub-folders, I have the same bahaviour, some folders have "green tick", some other "blue arrows" and some other no icon status. I do not understand the logic.
On Computer 2, no files or folders inside "TRAININGS" folder have never been opened by user "Fra".
However, on SharePoint, I see that some files in the tree of the "TRAININGS" folder that have "last modified by" with name of the user in Computer 2, even though this user "Fra" never modified that precise file. Only user "Cla"
did some modifications on the files and folders.
For example, we are missing folder "TRAININGS\CATEGORIES\CATALOG STRUCTURE" on Computer 2.
I do not understand what is going wrong there...
    Questions already answered:
    To save time for diagnosis:
    1. Does the issue only happen on the Computer 2? Please choose a PC and login with a problematic which have different issue to see what will happen.
No, it happens also on a different PC, but with different status for each file.
    2. Have the files they upload met the restrictions of syncing SharePoint libraries?
    No they have not:
No special character in File Name
524 files and 257 folders in the library
Max length of full folder and file name is 157 characters.
    No invalid file types
I have no idea if any file is open on any computer, and have no way of knowing it, with users all over the world.
    3. Have you tried to repair OneDrive for Business via right-clicking the OneDrive for Business icon then clicking repair? If not, please give it a shot and provide us with the result.
Repair has been tested and does not help.
    4. Could you please clean the cache of OneDrive for Business to see if the issue persists?
I have already tried deleting the Office Offline Cache on a similar problem one week ago. It is a pain in the neck since I have to do it on all my users who have problem (starts to be a lot), it involves re-downloading the whole contents of the libraries
(2GB) and it does NOT solve the problem since it reappears one week later on a different set of files.
Full delete of Office Offline Files temporarily solves the incident until the problem occurs again later. So doesn't help either.
Please keep in mind I have over 30 other computers that have these libraries synced in 4 different countries, and I do not know whether they are properly synced or not. Repairing or resetting on the client computers is not an option if I am not sure I have
completely solved the problem and I know for sure it will not happen again.
    5. How many files in these shared libraries? Generally, when suing OneDrive for Business, we don't recommend uploading/syncing a lot of files at a time.
The folder "TRAININGS" where all changes have been made contains only 64 files and 42 folders.
The library which contains the "TRAININGS" folder contains 524 files and 257 folders. But these files and folders have not been touched, except for the "TRAININGS" folder.
I believe I am way under the 100 files that have moved at the same time.
    6. How long has the problem been waiting for? Have you tried letting it solve by itself?.
Today, after 12 hours, Computer 2, 3 and 4 are still in the same state, synchronization is stuck.
Can you please help me diagnose the issue and make sure it does not happen again?
    Thanks a lot.

    New update that might help.
I have noticed on Computer 2 an anormal growth of the "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\15.0\OfficeFileCache" folder.
The total synced libraries (both  with Office365 and with on-premise SharePoint) have a size of 5.5 GB.
The OfficeFileCache folder has a size of 21.6GB and is growing by the minute.
If I pause the sync, the folder stops growing. If I resume the sync, the folder grows.
    The changes are the following:
File CentralTable21873.accdb has different date modified, but size remains the same.
Files FSD-{id}.FSD (131,072 bytes) and  FSF-{id}.FSF  (114 bytes) are created. These files are created by pair, almost every second.
Please find below extract of the contents of the OfficeFileCache on Computer 2. I stopped the sync at 12:07.

  • Office OneNote 2013 working with OneDrive for Business

M$ is going to be the death of me.
So here's what I have Windows 8.1 Pro with Office 2013 Pro with OneDrive for Business with our own SharePoint 2013 environment running on a tablet.
I open this lovely OneNote Product and all it asks me is to sign into my M$ Account, I don't want to use my M$ account I want it to just open and allow me to create a new notebook...  It just asks me to sign into my M$ account.  I don't want to
    do that.
So I got into my SharePoint document library, click New document, create onenote document, open it and OneNote prompts me to log into my M$ account....
I don't want to use my M$ account, I want to use my OneDrive For Business and the SharePoint 2013 environment we've paid thousands of dollars for...
Another funny thing I found is, OneNote 2013 for Mac, works with OneDrive for Business?!?!  On Windows?  NOPE!
    Am I missing something simple?

  • OneDrive for Business sync app when using Office 2010

    Hi,
My clients use Office 2010. They all have SharePoint Workspace installed as well, thought, they don't use it.
As part of new SharePoint 2013 on-premise roll-out, I have to find a method to silently install OneDrive for Business into clients machines, without disruption to the use of Office 2010. They will use OneDrive for business to sync their team sites libraries
    and their personal site library.
So far, I have no success.
    What I tried:
-Standalone OneDrive Pro client exe Setup.x86.en-us_GrooveRetail_3V9N8-W93CC-FQPB8-Y9WVF-TVGJ3_TX_PR_.exe
It seems there is no way to run it silently anyway. Is there?
basically, this package still connects to the internet to download modules and it prompts user for some interaction while installing. I NEED IT SILENT.
-Building OCT package out of Office 2013 installation media. I selected to only install Groove(OneDrive) and leave existing Office product intact. Then I run it from setup.exe /adminfile //location/onlygroove.MSP
It provisions SkyDrive Pro client (note the name, I used Office 2013 without SP1 media)
    Problems with that:
1.After installing Office 2013 SP1, client name is still SkyDrive Pro 2013, but sync folder actually changed, some other user interface places are also updated
2.After silent run, Office 2010 experience problems: Outlook 2010 crushes on start 3 times, then it attempts to run repair, Repair will fix outlook, but it also sets SharePoint workspace as a default client for sync. Running Office 2013 repair will break
Outlook again. The solution is to uninstall SharePoint workspace, then run Office 2013 repair, then Office 2010 repair again - this way I have SkyDrive Pro as a sync app and Outlook 2010 working.
As you see, I have problems with having seamless silent OneDrive for Business sync app installation. Even asking clients to install it manually would be too hard for them. Annoying thing is that if you click the exe file to run, it takes about 2 minutes
before user sees anything happening on a screen. I can see users getting confused if they actually initiated a process of not!
    What am I missing ?
Any other way to provision it in bulk to my users? Any help appreciated.

I think we're all waiting on Microsoft to (quickly) address this. Its unacceptable.
It is seriously unacceptable, and I am having the same problems. Even running tests locally and I am a domain admin, I come across admin permission errors. I have tried amending the config file and creating a new one (onedrive_download.xml), creating a new
folder as a temp test and running the OneDrive for Business pack (extracted). These are the errors I get (on my own admin PC).

  • How to use OneDrive for Business mobile app with SharePoint 2013 on-premise?

    Hi All,
I have a SharePoint 2013 (with latest December updates) that host a dedicated personal web site for users.
The OneDrive portal works fine and users are able to sync their files with the OneDrive client for Windows.
Now I want to test the OneDrive for Business mobile app on Android, but there is no option to specify the "personal" portal URL.
It asks only for domain credentials.
Does I need to configure specific records on my public DNS to allow mobile users to sync their files?
    Thanks

I can confirm that with iOS you can connect to your SharePoint server through the advanced options.
But the very strange thing is that the OneDrive version for Windows Phone 8.1 is limited as the Android version.
    This has no sense.
Why does Microsoft should limit the Business functions on its mobile operating system, and not on iOS?
Another strange thing is that configuring my Exchange account, Windows Phone 8.1 informed me that it has connected OneDrive for business (but is a fake information).
    See attached image.
If I open the built-in OneDrive app, it give me the option to add a OneDrive for business account, but is only for Office 365 users (like with the Android version).
I thing that Microsoft should let at least to Windows Phone users to connect to on-premise SharePoint sites.

  • Mess with accounts in OneNote and OneDrive for Business - can't open documents from Office 365

    Hello!
    [Reposted from
    here]
I've got Office 365 subscription (E3) with Office.
I can view and edit OneNote notebooks on Office 365 via browser, but can't open it in OneNote.
The similar problem exists for OneDrive for Business - some libraries are syncing, some cannot - asking for Enter credentials, but when I click - nothing happens.
There were two accounts bound to Office 2013 - personal Microsoft ID as primary account and corporate Office 365 linked to it.
Windows 8.1 corporate profile is linked to Microsoft ID account as well.
Something happen with these accounts after password was changed - it seems like some account information was cached and can't be cleaned.
I tried to uninstall Office and install it - no success.
    I cleaned computer with
this utility from Support - no luck.
On other Windows 8.1 computer I created new profile (with Microsoft ID account) - surprise, there are problems there as well.
I deleted all Office15 entries from Credentials Manager - Office asked me about Office 365 login/password - I entered them, it is syncing, Haliluja, but, when Microsoft ID account was linked to Office 365 account in Office - problem appears again.
It seems that Office 2013 uses Microsoft ID credentials for Office 365 content.
I'd like to use Microsoft ID as primary account for Office and link Office 365 account to it, but don't want such problems. It worked fine, but I don't know what happened and how it can be analyzed and fixed.
Update: It seems I localized the problem, but still don't know the solution.
Scenario to reproduce error for me:
    1. Create fresh new Corporate/Domain user profile on Windows 8.1 with Office Pro 365 installed on computer with latest updates
    2. Go to SharePoint Online and browse some Libraries and OneNote notebooks - all ok
    3. Start to sync them using OneNote and OneDrive for Business - ok
    4. Link Microsoft Account with Corporate Account in Windows 8.1 - ok
    5. Syncing of _some_ (not all) Office 365 libraries and notebooks stop working - errors with access, permissions. I'm trying to enter credentials but this doesn't help
    6. Disconnect Microsoft Account and Reboot - all libraries and notebooks of Office 365 work fine again. But OneNote notebooks from OneDrive stop working :)
How I can fix this situation and have Microsoft and Corporate account connected?

    Update 2:
I installed PowerShell for SharePoint online cmdlets and found this user using get-SPOUser.
I removed this user using remove-SPOUser -site
    https://mysitename.sharepoint.com -LoginName
    [email protected]
but when I'm trying to access sharepoint from the browser with Microsoft account credentials - new record for this user is created again and I can see it with get-SPOUser :(
So, problem is still not solved - this user is still can be authenticated (there is no such user in SharePoint site collection, there is no such user profile) and Office 2013 syncing doesn't work for Office 365 due this mess with accounts.
I know that I can remove Sharing with external users from Site Collection and information about these users will be permanently deleted - but I don't want to do this, there are several customers who work with our documents.

    Microsoft PowerBI Designer Preview
and this is installed on Win 8.1 Enterprise
Kind of stumped what is causing this... I see KB2920798  mentions this error message is now added when cant open a document due to a mix of click-to-run and MSI install for office.  I only have click to run for Office 2013 and the MSIs are only for
addons in excel (power query) and the additional Microsoft Software...
Anyone have ideas what is causing this and how to resolve?
I just finished applying March 2015 C2R updated on Office and the same issue recurred.  This time I simply rebooted and it resolved.  My best guess is it has something to do with a locked file that can't be updated but the Office Update installer
    doesn't prompt to reboot.

I have the same problem. But I have Czech versions of the Word and OneDrive for Business ("OneDrive pro firmy").
I do not have the SharePoint Designer nor update KB2020798. I received KB2920746
on 11th February (plus other updates for Office, but any other for OneDrive for Business). Anyway,
uninstall of the KB2920746 doesn't help.
    The error in Czech:

  • Does on-premises OneDrive for Business ***REQUIRE*** an Organization ID for synchronization to local systems?

We have an on-premises SharePoint 2013 SP1 deployment in our lab.  We access the server through three methods: direct LAN access inside the firewall, over the Internet via Forefront TMG, and over the Internet via DirectAccess.  In all three access
cases, almost everything functions exactly as expected.
One exception is OneDrive for Business (the on-premises version).  After creating my MySite, I can browse my OneDrive for Business, upload/download files, preview documents, share with other SharePoint users, etc.  That stuff works properly.
But if I click the Sync link to establish a synchronization connection between my OneDrive for Business and my desktop system, the "We're getting things ready to sync..." dialog gets overridden by a OneDrive for Business error box - "We can't
connect to the specified SharePoint site...".
We see this behavior whether inside or outside the firewall.  I am logged into Windows, Office 2013 applications, and SharePoint using the same credentials: my Windows domain account.
Running Wireshark and Fiddler on my workstation, I see conversations being sent to live.microsoft.com when I click on the Sync link.  This leads me to believe that *ALL* such sync connections are established by looking up the user's account in the Microsoft
cloud (even if the credentials are for an on-premises domain) and, further, that because of this, businesses must create an official in-cloud Organization ID for their domain even if they are not actually using Office365 services (e.g. even if they are only
using on-premises SharePoint) if they want to sync with on-premises OneDrive for Business.
I have seen almost zero documentation about this, and certainly nothing that states that you MUST register for an Organization ID even if you are only using on-premises SharePoint and on-premises OneDrive for Business, yet this seems to be the behavior I
see and that theory seems to be supported by my network traces.
    So...
    1) Can anyone confirm or deny this theory, or at least give a lot more detail about how SharePoint attempts to "find" the service when you click on the Sync link?
    2) If you HAVE successfully set up on-premises OneDrive for Business and have NOT had to register an Organization ID, can you please share the details of how you configured things?
Many thanks for any help or pointers...

    I Just checked pre-requisites for Onedrive on-prem:
To support OneDrive for Business document libraries in SharePoint Server 2013, you must have:
A SharePoint Server 2013 My Site Host.
Configured the User Profile Service application.
The user must have an existing My Site with the personal site collection created.
To support synchronizing document libraries to a user's client workstation with the OneDrive for Business Windows Sync client, you must have:
    Either
Office 2013 Standard or Office 2013 Professional Plus, or the stand-alone OneDrive for Business Windows Sync client.
An Office 365 subscription that includes the Office 2013 applications.
Client workstations running Windows 7 or Windows 8.
If you have to purchase Office 365 then you will need Organization ID which will be required for Document SYNC, or yous should have Office 2013 installed on system.

  • Software bug in OneDrive for Business 1.2.2 (IOS)

I found a software bug in OneDrive for Business 1.2.2 (iOS) and is related to the space characters inside the logon name. I am using SharePoint 2013 (15.0.4617.1000 June 2014 CU) and my setup
corresponds with the OneDrive for Business App requirements.
I am not able to connect using OneDrive for Business 1.2.2 (iOS) to the SharePoint 2013 OneDrive personal site if the logon name has space characters in it. With the same user account, but this time with the logon name changed (removed all
the space characters) the authentication works and I am able to configure the app (OneDrive for Business 1.2.2 - iOS).
    I wrote more details here
    http://www.vioreliftode.com/index.php/software-bug-in-onedrive-for-business-1-2-2-ios/.
Any other of you in the same situation?

    Hi,
I understand that the issue occurred in OneDrive for Business 1.2.2 (iOS).
If this is a suspicious bug, I recommend you to open a ticket with Microsoft.
In the meanwhile, you can post the thread at the OneDrive support forum:

More experts will assist you, then you will get more information relation to OneDrive for Business.

  • Publishing: Sharepoint WorkSpace Vs OneDrive for business

I've SharePoint 2013 on premise with OneDrive for business. I've published SharePoint Site Collection App with Web Application Proxy (WAP). When a user is at home, he can creates files on his OneDrive folder, these files are automatically synchronize with
    SharePoint 2013 server, OK ??
With SharePoint 2010 workspace, I think is different, user doesn't have a specific folder like OneDrive. When user is at home and creates a new file. Is this synchronize to SharePoint server ??? Must I publish something on WAP ??

SharePoint 2010 workspace syncs with SharePoint 2010.  If a user creates a document in a SharePoint Workspace library at home it will sync with SharePoint 2010 the next time they log in to the SharePoint 2010 environment.  If SharePoint is published
through WAP it probably limits the number of ports available. Which will keep the Workspace from syncing at that point.  But when the user comes back on-premises the document will sync with the SharePoint 2010 environment.  Workspace will still work
with SharePoint 2013, but it has been deprecated and will be going away at some time in the future.

  • Users are unable to synchronize document libraries with OneDrive for Business

    Hello,
We are having an issue with our users attempting to synchronize document libraries with OneDrive for Business. When a user tried to synchronize the document library either via the "SYNC" button on the document library page using IE or by
manually entering the document libraries path into the OneDrive for Business desktop app they receive the following error
"We can't connect to the specified SharePoint site". The users have the Edit permission to both the site and the document library. I have performed the following actions in attempt to get the synchronization to work.
    1. Tested giving user the owner permission to the site and document library. same result.
    2. Performed a repair on the users Office 2013 installation.
An interesting point to note is that I myself am able to synchronize the document libraries using both the "SYNC" button on the document library site and by entering the path manually in the desktop app. Difference between my account and the test
accounts is that I'm a site collection administrator and farm administrator. Can anyone shed some light onto this issue?

    Hi Corey,
According to your description, my understanding is that the users cannot sync document libraries with OneDrive for Business.
I recommend to check the Permission Level to see if the Use Client Integration Features permission is selected.
If not, check this permission in the corresponding permission level which is granted to the users.
Please also check if the users have the right permission to sync the document library with OneDrive for Business.

  • Automate OneDrive for Business 2013

  • Help! Windows Explorer crashes regularly when using "SharePoint" directory synced with OneDrive for Business

We are using SharePoint 2013 and I want to sync document libraries with
OneDrive for Business with my PC running Windows 7.
In general, it works, but my Windows Explorer crashes very often (after a few minutes) when I navigate in the synced directories and open files there (or copy files into them in Windows Explorer).
How can I find out what happens and how to avoid it?
    remark:
We are still using Office 2007, so I installed only OneDrive for Business from the Office 2013 DVD and
deactivated all other components like Office 2013 by hand:
(so for example, the shared office feature or MS Info Path etc. were not installed)
Is there a crash log, where I can find more information about the crash?
Does OneDrive maybe need other components to be installed and can I install them without damaging my existing Office 2007 setup?

Did  you check your Event Viewer for any errors during the time when Windows Explorer crashed?
    Thanks for this hint!
The Log file says the following, so it seems to be WIDCOMM\Bluetooth Software\btncopy.dll
to be responsible for the crashing Windows Explorer
