Assign Statement using EDI 850 XML Problem - No BPEL Process Instantion

I am currently experiencing the following problem: I receive an EDI 850 message via AQ, and then when I try to copy one of the segments in the message
to a temporary variable, my BPEL process instantiation never shows up in the BPEL console display, nor does it error out anywhere where I can see.
Note: if I take out this assign activity, the BPEL process instantiation does show in the console, and does complete.
Can someone tell me where to look inside of the BPEL engine for any error information and perhaps explain why this situation happens in the first place. Also, if anyone can tell me if my syntax below for the extraction is correct, that would also be great.

Hi Arthur,
Please verify the namespace in the xml instance matches the xsd used in BPEL. In many cases, the data cannot be copied/transformed successfully if there is a mismatch in namespace.

  • Problem calling BPEL process using apache axis client

    We have a BPEL process which we are trying to call from apache axis client. The problem is when we execute "call.invoke(new Object[] { xmlStr }) ", it adds an "argo" element to the message, and the xpath is unable to evaluate the message.
    We are able to call the process fron .Net and VB 6 using soap toolkit without any problem, so it seems odd we are not able to do so from apache axis.
    Here is how it should be received by the BPEL process:
    <inputVariable>
         <part xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" name="payload">
              <Request xmlns="http://e1.oracle.com/IAM">
                   <MessageHeader>
                        <Operation>update</Operation>

                   <MessageDetail xmlns="">
                        <szSecondaryUoM_UOM2/>
                   </MessageDetail>
              </Request>
         </part>
    </inputVariable>
    But this is the way it is received having been sent from apache axis (notice the arg0 element) :
    <inputVariable>
         <part xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" name="payload">
              <arg0 xsi:type="xsd:string" xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/InventoryAdjustment" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
                   <Request xmlns="http://e1.oracle.com/IAM">

                        </MessageHeader>
                        <MessageDetail xmlns="">

                        </MessageDetail>
                   </Request>
              </arg0>
         </part>
    </inputVariable>
    Any insight as to how to approach this would be appreciated. The WSDL and java code follow.

    Just a tip: Use a tool as SoapUI to findout the correct SOAP request and related attributes for the SOAP request.

    I assume you checked the reasons that are suggested in the message:
    "This is typically the result of an invalid deployer URI format being supplied, the target server not being in a started state or incorrect authentication details"
    It looks like a typo...

  • Problem deploying bpel process to oc4j_soa container on separate server

    Hi - after searching for a solution both here and on Metalink for some time, I've reached the point where I think I need to post my problem:
    (This might be an application server/BPEL related issue and perhaps more relevant there than JDeveloper. If so, my apologies in advance.)
    On client; Windows XP with JDeveloper 10.1.3.4.0, on server Windows Server 2003 with Oracle SOAsuite 10.1.3.
    Created a very simple bpel process (ftp get a remote file -> write locally) that I want to deploy on the dedicated SOA-server.
    From JDeveloper, the "Application Server and ESB Server connections checks out fine. But the "BPEL Process Manager Server" check failes with the error:
    "BPEL Identity Service: Failed" - Details: "oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLParseException:Whitespace required."
    I have not found any postings/info on the "Whitespace required" error anywhere... mighty strange....
    I'm therefore unable to use the BPEL Process Deployer, it states that "Server Mode: Server is unreachable".
    I've triple-checked all ports etc. The Integration Server Connection is using port 80.
    I'm able to access and open the BPELConsole (& EM & ESB) on the server from my JDeveloper workstation.
    A "opmnctl status -l" on the SOA-server gives:
    Processes in Instance: SOAProd.aresrv136.gard.local

    I cannot find the "deploy_service" as a separate service on my server however. Only the hw_services are up and running, but it contains a "deploy" web module.
    Would be immensely grateful for any information that might help me further in solving this issue, as I'm rather stuck right now....

    Haakon,
    I think the BPEL forum is the better source to ask

  • Invalid xml document for BPEL Process.

    Hi everyone,
    I am getting below error after i set validateXML=strict
    Invalid xml document.
    According to the xml schemas, the xml document is invalid. The reason is: Error::cvc-datatype-valid.1.2.1: '' is not a valid value for 'decimal'.
    Error::cvc-type.3.1.3: The value '' of element 'ns1:p_person_id' is not valid.
    Please make sure that the xml document is valid against your schemas.
    Kindly help me with the steps. I am just a SOA admin, not developer.
    Regards
    Lammeki.

    Ummmm Vikas,
    Lemme bring out a better picture, so u get more clear on this one.
    The developer has upgraded an already deployed BPEL process.
    Since then, she has been facing problem. When she invoke those process they simply end up as faulted with a yellow color ! mark.
    Now i as an admin, i tried everything to help her cos she escalated the issue to me, thinking maybe there is sumthing i could do to assists her.
    Now i am not sure, how to help her, but yes i started with the logs. Both the oc4j container log for SOA and the domain log show the similar error.
    But till then, i didn't know black and white of it. so i tried doing all testing possible from my end.
    When i check on the faulted instances i see there is a Assign activity after Transform followed by Invoked being highlighted in red color. and when i clicked on it i get to see the error

    The main problem was we were observing many SOA inactive threads in one particular database, and they keep building up minutes by minutes.
    I suspect, that in the code connections were open but were not closed, there4 there were inactive threads in the database.
    I had to stop the SOA application, to stop threads from building up. I guess they got build up when they were invoked. There is definitely some fault with the code. or tell me am wrong. tell me its sumthing else.
    However other domains processes were working fine.
    and oh, yes the developer also made changes in the database. when i asked her to revert back and see if it works, she say thats a huge amount of work.
    Finally she end up saying that maybe it could be a problem with the new version.
    Now as a learner, I want to know what is going on, and how do we go about solving it.
    Am not much of a SOA techie. that u can make out. but yes ready to learn things. so there4 i beg you to explain to me like am a standard 3 or 4 kid. any more information needed plz feel free to write back.
    regards
    Lammeki.

  • How to use multiple WSDL operations in One BPEL process Recieve Activity ?

    Is there anyway to attach multiple WSDL operations with a Single BPEL process ? How ?

    Thanks Melvin for your quick respond.
    When I create a BPEL process, It asks me to give the XSD as an Input. When I import the XSD it asks me to select an operation not more than one. Let suppose I select addRequest and finish the wizard.
    Now what I can see, It create Recieve activity with an Input msg of Add operation. Well what I understand from your statement is that, I remove the recieve activity and put the Pick activity.
    Now my question is How to mention the other operations like update and delete ? And how to test them ?? The link provided by you is just tell me what Pick activity can do for me, But its not telling me how to use it ?? and how the give the operation to it. Where should I need to change in the BPEL ???

  • Problem Installing BPEL Process Manager in Win2K

    Hello,
    I am new to BPEL and especially to Oracle BPEL Process Manager. I have to write my diploma thesis about an BPEL-related topic an so I decided to try the Oracle BPEL PM.
    My OS is Win2K, we run Bea Weblogic 8.1.4 as an app server. I installed the BPEL PM and everything was fine. Then it crashed when starting up the Weblogic instance with an command line error "line too long". The error occured while building the environment variable SERVICES_CLASSPATH. I tried to adjust the paths in a way that they have minimum length, I maximised all parameters for cmd.exe in WINNT/_default.pif but nothing helped. Is there anybody out there who can help me? I would appreciate any help.
    Regards,
    Cosima Paul
    PS: We cannot switch the OS because our product that should use BPEL has to run on Win2K AND on Win XP.

    Me again.... ;o)
    strange thing: today I tried to install Oracle BPEL PM for JBoss and everything went fine. What a miracle! The only problem is: I can use this for evaluation purpose but we won't be able to take Oracle BPEL PM in production later on because we need to use Bea Weblogic. Anyway... perhaps the Weblogic problem can be solved the next months or we find another nice BPEL engine.
    Regards,
    Cosima

  • XML input into BPEL Process

    Hi,
    I am trying to create a BPEL process which receives XML input and then uses this input to insert data into the database.
    I have a stored procedure which will accept the input variables and do the insert.
    My XML looks like below:
    <Acc_type>
    <code> ABC </code>
    <name> Savings Account </name>
    </Acc_type>
    My stored Procedure has to input variables - code and name. I have changed the Receive activities, Process Request to include 2 inputs - code and name.
    I am not sure what changes need to be made to specify that the input will be in XML and also how to map the XML to the variables.
    Also, is it possible to use the same format for the XML as used when you initiate a BPEL Process and select XML Source? If I do this will I still need to make other changes?
    Thanks...

    Hi,
    I have tried implementing the ora:parseEscapedXML function, I have used the following expression to copy the data in the CODE node to my variable also called CODE.
    ora:parseEscapedXML(bpws:getVariableData('inputVariable','payload','/client:TestXML2ProcessRequest/client:input','/Acc_Type/code'))
    I get the following error message:
    ORABPEL-09500 XPath expression failed to execute. Error while processing xpath expression, the expression is "ora:parseEscapedXML(bpws:getVariableData('inputVariable','payload','/client:TestXML2ProcessRequest/client:input','//Acc_Type/code'))", the reason is FOTY0001: type error. Please verify the xpath query.
    I am not sure if the format of my expression is correct especially - '/Acc_Type/code'
    Please help...

  • Using a File Adapter in a BPEL process

    Hi,
    I am new to BPEL and currently working on migrating my current integration to a SOA architecture using BPEL processes. The integration requires a file to be read and i plan to use a fileadapter . This file to be read is of fixed length type and i see in the file adapater you can generate an xsd for fixed length file. however i need to specify the range for every column that will be read.
    Eg : Column1 1-10
    Column2 11-25
    Is there a way i can achive this? From what i see now i can only specify the length as a number like 1,2,3,4,5
    Thanks

    In your case, you have to give "10, 25" in field positions which tokenize the columns 1-10 and 11-25.

    Hi,
    I have a BPEL process which runs perfectly when invoked from the BPEL console. Now I try to invoke the BPEL process from another (Java) program and get some strange error message in the client. This sounds very similar to how my BPEL process behaves. I'm unable to post XML input into the "XML Source" region of the initiate screen unless the input is properly wrapped in the respective message type element.
    Make sure your invoking client code is wrapping the input properly with the message type XML elements.

  • Problem by BPEL process compilation with JDeveloper

    Hi,
    I don't quite know whether my problem is in the JDeveloper forum or Oracle Process Manager one.
    I am currently trying to execute a process, with dynamic invocation and dynamic management capabilities, but I won't go into technical details. In the WSDL Definition for the process I have defined 2 partnerLinkTypes - one for the standard synchronous request/response (receive-reply) and one for my management port (asynchronous receive).
    The end of the WSDL Definition is as follows:
    <portType name="ConfigurationPort">
    <operation name="ConfigurationChanged">
    <input message="client:ConfigMessage"/>
    </operation>
    </portType>
    <portType name="DynamicDBServiceProcess">
    <operation name="process">
    <input message="client:DynamicDBServiceProcessRequestMessage"/>
    <output message="client:DynamicDBServiceProcessResponseMessage"/>
    </operation>
    </portType>
    <plnk:partnerLinkType name="DynamicDBServiceProcess">
    <plnk:role name="DynamicDBServiceProcessProvider">
    <plnk:portType name="client:DynamicDBServiceProcess"/>
    </plnk:role>
    </plnk:partnerLinkType>
    <plnk:partnerLinkType name="ConfigPartner">
    <plnk:role name="Reconfigure">
    <plnk:portType name="client:ConfigurationPort"/>
    </plnk:role>
    <plnk:role name="ReconfigureResponse">
    <plnk:portType name="client:ConfigurationPort"/>
    </plnk:role>
    </plnk:partnerLinkType>
    The JDeveloper BPEL compiler is supposed to generate the binding and service tags for my abstract portTypes, but the binding and service for my ConfigurationPort are somehow wrong generated:
    <binding name="DynamicDBServiceProcessBinding" type="tns:DynamicDBServiceProcess">
    <soap:binding style="document" transport="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/http"/>
    <operation name="process">
    <soap:operation style="document" soapAction="process"/>
    <input>
    <soap:body use="literal"/>
    </input>
    <output>
    <soap:body use="literal"/>
    </output>
    </operation>
    </binding>
    <binding name="ConfigurationPortBinding" type="tns:ConfigurationPort">
    <soap:binding style="document" transport="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/http"/>
    <operation name="ConfigurationChanged">
    <soap:operation style="document" soapAction="ConfigurationChanged"/>
    <input>
    <soap:header message="tns:WSARelatesToHeader" part="RelatesTo" use="literal" encodingStyle=""/>
    <soap:body use="literal"/>
    </input>
    <output>
    <soap:body use="literal"/>
    </output>
    </operation>
    </binding>
    <service name="DynamicDBServiceProcess">
    <port name="DynamicDBServiceProcessPort" binding="tns:DynamicDBServiceProcessBinding">
    <soap:address location="http://I71NB60:9700/orabpel/default/DynamicDBServiceProcess/2.4"/>
    </port>
    </service>
    <service name="ConfigurationPortService">
    <port name="ConfigurationPortPort" binding="tns:ConfigurationPortBinding">
    <soap:address location="http://set.by.caller"/>
    </port>
    </service>
    I tried to find some configuration property for the project in order to properly modify the generation of my soap:address location (it surely isn't http://set.by.caller/). Nevertheless the process compiles fine and is successfully deployed, but at runtime an exception is generated because of "java.sql.SQLException: [POL-3221] Null-Schl?ssel in prim?rem Index" (trying to insert a NULL key in the primary Index). Has anyone know how to tune my project (or compiler) settings in order to generate a proper binding and service?
