Assigning Settypes to Product Categories

Hi,
I'm about to start building up hierarchies and categories for my CRM Solution (using CRM 5.0). There are a couple of generic Settypes that should be working irrespectively of product type (e.g. Material or Service). One of those settypes is COMM_PR_SHTEXT - but I cannot find it, regardless of which Product Type I've chosen. Is there a step I'm missing. What I've done is:
1. Created a new hierarchy
2. Created a "root category" where I've disabled the possibility to assign products. No product type chosen.
3. Under this root category, I've created other "sub categories" with Product Types assigned.
When I try to assign Settypes to these categories, the settype COMM_PR_SHTEXT does not show up...
Any ideas what could be missing?

Hi Phillipp,
Yes, I have solved the problem...
What you are experiencing is the standard behaviour. Some of the SAP
delivered settypes like COMM_PR_LGTEXT*, COMM_PR_SHTEXT and
COMM_PR_UNIT can only be assigned to Base Hierarchy.
In your customizing setting in transaction COMM_PRAPPLCAT, you have
to assign the hierarchy that you work with as the Base Hierarchy for product type Service (or material if that is what you are dealing with). Hence
you can assign the above mentioned settypes only to that hierarchy.
Hope that helps!

Magnus

  • Subsequent addition to new product categories of supplier list

    Hi,
    Business Requirement:
An existing supplier, for whom a contact person is already created and is having a valid user ID and password, now wants to send his requests to include him in the supplier list for some more product categories.
Supplier selects some more product categories in a webpage of portal.
System sends a link to supplier's email, which on clicking, will take him to a page where he can enter the answers to questionnaires assigned to the product categories(s) selected by him.
Buyer verifies the answers and subsequently add him to some more product categories in the supplier list or rejects the request submitted by the supplier.
    Question:
    1. We would like to know, what is standard business process available in SAP which is "SOMEWHAT" similar to above requirement.
    2. If available, Which (SICF) service needs to be used for this? or what settings/configurations are required to achieve this.
    Thanks.

  • Assign GL accounts to the product categories

    Hi Experts,
We are on 4.0, and classic scenario.
We are facing a problem regarding finding the relevant G/L account on behalf of a product category in SRM.
    Example:
For product category 10101500, the user should have the possibility for assigning G/L account:
    29000000
    29000001
    29000002
In our system a user creates a shopping cart. The user choose a product category, 10101500, on behalf of this product category, the user should have the possibility for choosing the different G/L accounts, 29000000, 29000001 or 29000002. When the user has the different G/L accounts on screen, the user can choose the relevant one into the shopping cart. Are there any experts who have worked with this kind of issue?
    Best regards Kim

    Hello Kim,
Process you are describing is not standard.
If you look at following path in SPRO:
SAP Implementation Guide -> Supplier Relationship Management -> SRM Server -> Cross-Application Basic Settings -> Account Assignment -> Define G/L Account for Product Categoriey and Account Assignment Category
you will see that G/L Account number is assigned to one product category ID with one system source (for product category) and one account assignment category.
So, the only way to be able to select different G/L account number for same product category is to give for each G/L account a different account assignment category.
Nevertheless, this has to be checked to know:
1- if it can work technically in SRM,
2- but especially if Controlling functional team agrees.
An alternative solution would be to use BAdI BBP_DETERMINE_ACCT: instead of giving choice to user to select himself G/L account, determine directly G/L value according to functional rule(s) given by Controlling team.
    Regards.
    Laurent.

  • Cannot see list of Product Categories in Shopping Cart entry screen

    Hi All,
I would appreciate it if someone could help me with this issue.
Although I appear to have sucessfully replicated the backend R3 Mat Groups into SRM Product Categories, as I can see them in the hierachy screen, i.e. Hierachy ID R3MATCLASS in trans code COMM_HIERARCHY, they are not appearing in my Shopping Cart entry screen Product Categories drop down.
I have looked in Org structure maintanance and can see two things that may be the root causes:
    (a) In 'Exended Attributes', if I select the Source System, I do not get the option to list the product categories in the match code box
(b). In the 'check' screem, the system is displaying the message 'Attribute ITS_DEST not yet defined'
Any feedback on how I can pull in the groups during cart entry would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Hi Kathirvel,
I am not sure if this workaround is correct, but rather than using trans code BDLS as you suggested, I defined the logical system 'ABC' . This logical system was the assigned as a target system in 'Assignment of Logical Systems' under the product category customisation (table COMV_LOGSYS_MAP)
These changes subsequently allowed the drop down on the Org structure when selecting a Product Category in extended attributes, therefore making the list available in the web front end.
The IMG help text for COMV_LOGSYS_MAP says:
    Case 1
You have created the categories in your test system. They therefore have the logical system <SYSTEM_TEST>. So that the categories can also be changed once they have been transported into the production system, the categories must have the logical system <SYSTEM_PROD> in the target system.
    Maintain the following entry:
    Source <SYSTEM_TEST>
    Target <SYSTEM_PROD>
The logical system of the categories will be changed from <SYSTEM_TEST> to <SYSTEM_PROD>.
This appears to have resolved the issue. I would be interested to hear what you think,
    Many thanks , Steve,

  • Determination of G/L using Product Categories

    Hi,
I'm looking to load the full UNSPSC tree into SRM, but from my testing, after mapping the level 1 product category to the various account assignment types and the relevant G\L accounts, I cannot see the G\L mapping for the lower levels (2-4)of the product category when creating a shopping cart. Should the lower levels inherit the same G\L account to account assignment mapping as level 1 or should i use a BADI to define a different logic for determining the G/L account?

I can confirm that when mapping G/L account to Product categories using the UNSPSC schema, by entering 1* all subordinate levels of that UNSPSC code will also adopt the same G/L mapping.

  • Product categories Central contracts as SOS in SC

    Hello,
We are implementing SRM 7 Level 9 with extended classic scenario.
We have created central contracts with items with Products categories only.
Those central contracts do not appear when the requester has selected the same product category in the shopping cart item.
We see no IMG activities for this. What can we do?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
I have set up several central contracts, each time with one contract item with one product category. It means we have only ONE criteria.
Contracts never appear in SC SOS tab.
It works well with classic scenario (I can grab all contracts I have in ECC against the product category).
Does ECS require more than one criteria to automatically assign the contract to SC item? Because we want to run ECS here.

  • Hierarchy - Product Categories

    Hello everyone!
I´m starting to prepare the environment to  start working with CRM standalone (no integration with R/3).
I need some help/tips/materials/etc on how to created Products, Hierarchies with product categories, etc.
I am reading the ConfigGuide C09 (Central Master Data Standalone). I believe there is a gap between items 3.2.1 and 3.2.2 because I have no products created yet. Do I have to create a base hierarchy first? How?!
I appreciate any kind of help.
    Thanks,
    Luis.

    1. Create Hierarchy First, you can do so by transaction comm_hierarchy.
    2. Create Categories under the hierarchy in step 1.
    3. Under the categories created under step 2 add the settypes you want to use in your Product.
    4. Start creating product under the categories created in step 2 from transaction commpr01.
Without creating Heirarchies & Categories one will never be able to create a Product.

  • Assign bidder to product category - what does this do?

    Hi,
we are running SRM 7.0205, and using the bidding engine.
in the business partner master data, there is a "bidder data" tab and has an area to add product categories to a bidder.  What does this do?  If I assign product categories to a bidder, does this mean they can only respond to RFx line items with these product categories?
    cheers,

    Hi Aleem,
This is used when you have a Supplier Self Registration. The prospect select a product category to make easy to buyer looking for a new vendor by product category.
About your question " If I assign product categories to a bidder, does this mean they can only respond to RFx line items with these product categories?" The aswer is NO.

  • Price Lists in SD on Product Categories

    Hi !
I have the following business scenario;-
    Product Category: A with products:-
    A1, A2 , A3 etc
    Product Category: B with products:-
    B1,B2,B3 etc
The basic prices(condition type:PR00) for the products in category A are in the range:
    Rs 10,000 - Rs30,000.
The prices for the products in category B are in the range:
    Rs 40,000 - Rs60,000
The products from both categories are supplied to the same set of customers.
Can we create price lists in SD to map this scenario, particularly based on the product categories?
    Thanks.
Edited by: Shamik Sengupta on Jun 11, 2008 1:05 PM

    Dear Shamik Sengupta
In material master under Sales: sales org.2 view, there is a field *"Material pricing group".*
In IMG Path -- SD --> Basic Functions --> Pricing --> Pricing Control --> Mintain Price Relevant Master Data Fields --> Define Material groups.  Here create some group according to your requirement and assign it in the material master as cited above.
Now assuming that your condition is PR00, in V/07, maintain the table 029 so that your requirement can be met.
    thanks

  • Multiple Local Product Categories for One ECC Material Group

    Hello experts,
I have a question regarding Product Categories. I am using an Extended Classic Scenario and so, I retrieve Material Groups from the backend. Nevertheless, in order to have a more accurate split than ECC Material Groups in SRM, I would like to create local Product Categories which point on the same ECC Material Group. Eg. :
    ECC Material Group
      - SRM Product Category 1
      - SRM Product Category 2
I saw that I can create this kind of structure in COMM_HIERARCHY and I updated it in the PPOMA_BBP (I set * for backend and for SRM).
Nevertheless, when I create a SC, I can not find the local Product Categories I created?
Do you know how I could process?
    Thanks for your help
    Patrick

    Hi Patrick,
Looks like you got confused in understanding the concept.
You can not create a Local product category (material group) from a back end product category.
You can have both backend R/3 material groups and local product categoris (material groups) parallelly.
That means in COMM_HIERARCHY for R3MATCLASS hierarchy you have two nodes created under that, one for backend material groups and the other for local material groups.
In stand alone scenario or de-coupled scenario you can use local product categories and not in Extended classic and Classic scenarios.
For accessing a local product category you should have a local P.Org, local P.Group and the users should be assigned to these local P.Orgs or P.groups.
If you have such a setting in your org. structure then you can create S.Cs for local Product categories and local materials.
Hope this makes you more clear in understanding the issue.
    Clarifications are welcome.
    Award points for helpful answers.

  • Product categories

    Good morning everyone,
First, some product categories were not relevant and were flagged as not valid, but were not removed from the system, and also within a transaction PPOMA_BBP remain valid for a choice for some users, for this reason, some users can still take off to make reservations,
tell me please what the solution in this situation more correctly,
    1) obsolete categories PPOMA_BBP noted as inactive
    2) to remove them from the tables COMM_CATEGORY, COMM_CATEGORYT?
maybe there is something more correctly the decision?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
Removing the relevent product categories from organisation structure would be better, that way the users wudnt be able to use them while creating SC.
Though I am not sure about removing them from tables mentioned by you.
But generally, during my previous assignments, we had some Product categories in table, yet not assigned to particular user in organisation structure.

  • How do we bring local product categories inside sourcing...

    Hi all,
We are trying to bring the local products, where we can select in the Category ID SPRO...Define Sourcing for product categories. Please let me know how to do...
We are using SRM 4.0 server 5.0 and SP 8
    regards,
    Bert

    Bert,
You can assign only one product hierarchy at a time to purchasing application.
Are you maintaining local & replicated categories into the same product category hierarchy ?
If yes, you should find them in "Defining Sourcing for product categories" (if you select the correct source system = EBP, as I replied before).
If no, you have to choose which one to work with. his one and only this one will be available in SRM procurement flows (attributes, customizing...).
Check customizing point "Assign Hierarchies to Applications".

I will have 4 backends assigened to 1 SRM, I need replicate material from all backends and work with then in a corporative view, IF i create local product categoriies with the same numbers as of backends and then execute midleware for materials it will be automatically assigned to my local product categories?

if it is one to one . no problem . your trick works .
but you can use SRM only do DESCRIBE procurement only and catalogs.
but i dont know about 4 backe ends.
yes. you can upload product category from SRM which is equivalent to ECC product category.
