Assistance with poor speeds since switching from P...

Hi all,
New BT customer looking for some help.
I was previously with Plusnet, and receiving 37mbit download, and a lowly 2mbit upload.
I recently switched to Infinity 2 (6th June), and have allowed for the initial settling in period.
It was quoted to me by the lady in sales at the time:
Roxy: 49.4Mb download
Roxy: 10.9Mb upload Now
Roxy: As long as it states that and showns Infinity, the above confirmed speed will be the speed you get with this package
Having run the BT speed test, following the instructions implicitly I am actually getting:-
30Mb download
5.6Mb upload
I get similar speeds from other independant speed test sites.
It's clear to me something is wrong, either my IP profile is capped in the region of 30Mb or this is all my line can accept once my upload speed is increased, can someone investigate this please as the 49.4 originally quoted is clearly not being received? Evidently from previous fibre usage with a different supplier my line is capable of at least 37Mb download and I presumed that Inifinty 2 would push this further, which is the reason I switched.
Many thanks for any assistance,
Chris.

Hi Chrisoldinho
Welcome to the forums.
Have you reset both the Home Hub and Openreach modem? If you still experience the slower speeds send us an email using the contact us form in my profile.

  • Since switch from pc to mac epson R800 producing lousy photos.

Recently switched from pc to mac pro. Using Epson R800 printer. Cinema Display is calibrated using spyder pro. Mac driver downloaded from Epson seems to work okay altho setup is quite different from PC. Really not very good, actually. Prints are really very poor, not acceptable by any standard.
Have rechecked with Epson and apparently I have the newest driver for mac os x.
    Anyone got any ideas???

Yep, know all that. The problem that seems to exist is the inability in the mac to control all of the usual features that were previously controllable when this printer was setup on the pc.
I downloaded the mac driver for this printer from Epson but peculiarly in CS3 it does not allow for all functions. Why? Wish I knew.
So, downloaded it again, just in case a file or whatever went missing on the first download. Same thing happens. Not all printer controls are usable.
Oh and nope I do not have the gutenprint or whatever it's called listed so that's not the problem.

  • Poor Speeds Since the Start Of January in kent Inf...

    Right,
i have had infinity 2 since August last year and always had a steady 70-75mb down and 18-20mb up, well that was until the start of January and the best i can get is 55mb down and 12mb up. I have a Asus router running off and openreach modem as i am not a fan of the HH5 they sent me (cant even use your own DNS!). This set up works really well for me.
I have rest both the router and the modem: still the same. connected directly in to the openreach modem:still the same. I have seen a few post on here which seem to say the same thing about a drop in speed since January.
    Any ideas?
I have run the wholesale spped test which seem to say my ip profile is down, why would this be???:
    Solved!

Looks like DLM has capped your speeds in order to deal with some instability it has detected on your line. The noise margin is above the target of 6 so your speeds should recover after the line has been stable for about 10 days.

  • Disasterous email problems since switched from Eudora to Mail

On Feb. 1 I switched my broadband from Clear wireless to Comcast and my email client from Eudora to Mac Mail due to its allowing different port settings for my 2 personal email addresses which are forwarded and my business address which is not. I had occasional problems of not receiving certain emails but not constant. Now I figure about a quarter of my emails incoming and outgoing are disappearing forever without any bounce back messages. I even set up exclusive new email addresses on my server for a couple of my writers, some of whose mail I failed to get. Even one of those emails was lost. My business is threatened. Help!
I have received conflicting advice from AppleCare, Comcast, my hosting firm and others. Neither Comcast nor my hosting co. are filtering anything, according to them. Emails I fail to receive never get to the server - they are supposedly lost somewhere out there. My senders are not blocking mail because most of my msgs and theirs get thru. Lost emails never appear in the Junk folder. I use POP, Authorization, not SSL. My hosting says I should use Port 26 for outgoing; they won't say what to use for incoming. AppleCare says to use Port 110 for outgoing on my personal email addresses and to use the ISP that forwards them for the Incoming: mail.aracnet.com We still use Eudora on the MacBook so it's difficult to compare and test Mail settings.
I'm trying to work with Eudora Mailbox Cleaner to get my Address Book properly copied over. Mac Mail totally wrecked it, but I don't know how to delete that bad import first.

Really appreciate your assistance! My hosting people are being no help at all. I'm very familiar with "edit server list" - have been there often. It is my hosting person who tells me their logs show that none of the various emails I failed to receive on the first sending - for which I expand the headings and forwarded to him - have ever reach their server and therefore something's going wrong "out there" and they're not responsible. He even just suggested I sign up with gmail for my email service since I've been so much trouble to him. I've had an email address on my own server for ten years now - [email protected] - and don't want to change it!
I corrected the terrible instructions I got from AppleCare and reversed my incoming and outgoing server settings to audaud.com for regular email and to mail.aracnet.com SMPT for my two personal email addresses I want to send thru Aracnet. (and am paying them to forward them to the audaud.com server). However, when I just tried to reply to an email I received to [email protected] I got a warning I never saw before: (Thought I could attach a screenshot of it but can't seem to) It says "cannot send the message using the server audaud.com." Yet a few minutes later I sent an email to several of the writers for my site and it was sent. The settings were the same!
My hosting people told me to use Port 26 for sending but they refuse to tell me which port to use for INCOMING mail (using POP). Maybe the port settings are fouling me up, but why do they cause problems only part of the time? I don't use SSL.
Doesn't everyone receive via their email client "all the emails that get to the server?" Again: any directions on deleting the non-working import of the Eudora Address Book and doing it again properly with Eudora Mailbox cleaner?

  • Poor WiFi since upgraded from an AEBS

I used to have a AEBS, It was the N version but not dual channel. Since I was backing up seperate I decided to get a TC. The TC I got wasn't the newest but it is a N 1Tb dual channel.
I put it in the exact same spot as my AEBS, set it up, but I've definitely noticed that the WiFi performance isn't as good. I use WiFi for it in my house for my iPad 2 and S3, BB playbook.
What could be wrong? Why poor performance, in that the signaliisn't as strong and I get drop outs and very very slow performance, so much on my S3,I just use 3G (H+) as it's faster.
    Any help or suggestions please
    Thanks

Both Gen 1 and Gen2 AEBS I think should be Marvell wireless. But they had 3 antenna..
The Gen 4 AEBS A1354 and the Gen 3 TC A1355 should also be Marvell wireless but are dual band with only 2 antenna for each band and I think one is shared.. I don't really like shared antenna.
It means orientation is more important.. so keep the TC front led (think of it as a laser beam) aimed directly at the clients.. the antennas are in the edges.. on the 3 faces.. nothing in the back.. nothing top or bottom.
I would do the setup of the TC again. Start from a factory reset.
Is it the correct model for your region?? Make sure the wireless is set to your country.
Make sure power levels are set to 100%.. it should be by default.
To stop the auto band swapping and auto channels swapping set SMB names to 2.4ghz and 5ghz.. which are different. Lock the channels for 2.4ghz particularly .. try channel 1,6, 11 in turn..
    Use WPA2 Personal security.
Gen 3 should be ok power supply wise.. they tend to blow the board which you will know because it will stop working.
If it is still bad.. and you don't want to trade it off again.. buy a set of antennas.. I see on ebay you can buy these sets.. get a decent set for 2.4ghz and leave the 5ghz as it doesn't transmit that well anyway. You only need therefore two decent, say 8dbi antenna..
A little bit of drilling you can make it look like a gothic chair or a NASA space antenna. But you will get far superior performance from it.
Tell me if you want to know more.

  • Trouble with e-mail since switching to gmail accounts

Moved from my cable internet service providers e-mail to gmail. Problems with my mac os x mail ever since. Must've been something I did along the way. Followed the instructions for "access a Gmail account in OS X Mail 2 Using POP". I'm starting to wonder if I should've followed the instructions under the heading "Access a Gmail account in Mac OS X Mail Using POP" or "Access a Gmail Account in Mac OS X Using IMAP." Based on some of the info I've been reading I'm wondering if the IMAP option is the better choice because I don't get all of my E-Mails on the Mac but I do get all of them on my Blackberry and my windows xp machine.
    HELP!!!!

So, what would you use if you had several computers your email came to?
    IMAP for certain.
Lastly, will IMAP work on Verizon's Blackberry.
Not certain not having a BB, bit I+ suspect so.
although that might have something to do with some of the other problems I'm having with the email on the Mac.
    Let's work on that angle.
Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move these folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
    Reboot.
If that doesn't do it and you can afford to redo all your Rules, try these & reboot...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist.backup

  • Since switching from Chrome, I can't print .pdf attachments directly from my gmail. Please help.

It used to be (in Chrome) that I could view a .pdf attachment in gmail and from there print. Now in Firefox, when I view a .pdf attachment the print option is there and the print dialogue box comes up when I click it, but once I hit "OK" nothing comes out of the printer. I can print emails and other items, so it's not a printer connectivity problem or a problem with the print setup in Firefox. The only items affected are .pdf attachments in my gmail account. I've tried switching .pdf readers and turning off Protected Mode in Adobe. Please help!

What PDF reader r u use and what version is it?

  • Problem with application modules and switching from 2 tier to 3 tier mode

    Hello,
I've got an application in 2 tier mode. Now I wanted to switch to 3 tier mode but get a class cast exception. It has turned out, that panelBinding.getApplication().getApplicationModule().findApplicationModule returns in 2 tier mode <ModuleName>Impl and in 3 tier mode oracle.jbo.client.remote.ApplicationModuleImpl. But searching for modul name with panelBinding.getApplication().getApplicationModule().getApplicationModuleNames() returns the right in names in 2 tier and in 3 tier mode. Does anybody know a way to access <ModulName>Impl in 3 tier mode?

This is the reason that the BC4J project will create an <appmodulename>AM interface and a <appmodulename>AMClient Implementation that you include on the client side if you expose any methods in your app module. You should access them by casting it to the interface, NOT the appModuleImpl class. If you stick to using the interface, then you should be fine.
So to keep your implementation flexible, you should do this on the client to access your custom methods on your app module:
The BC4J project should generate the following classes:
    AppModule Name = MyCustomAM.xml
    AppModule Implementation = MyCustomAMImpl.java
    Custom AppModule Interface = /common/MyCustomAM.java
Custom clientside AppModule Implementation = /client/MyCustomAMClient.java
On the client, do the following:
    import my.bc4j.model.package.common.MyCustomAM;
// Call custom method on App module
      MyCustomAM am = (MyCustomAM) panelBinding.getDataControl().getApplicationModule();
      am.myCustomMethod(someParams);Hope this helps.

  • Having Excel blank column issues since switching from 8.5 to XI.

Please help!!!  My company updated from Crystal 8.5 to XI over the weekend and the reports are now coming through with blank columns.  What can be done to fix that?
    Thanks,
    Wes

I am having the same problem (XI) and going nuts.
Visually, all the fields appear to be flush with each other.
I even went as far as to look at the Size / Position of each header and data field to make sure they all are correct.
    Example.
All fields and headers are of size .7.
I have made sure that each subsequent field starts at position x + .7.
    So column 1 begins at X =3.
    Column 2, is X = 3.7
    Column 3 is X = 4.4
    Column 4 is X = 5.1
    Column 5 = 5.8
    etc.
No matter what I do, I can't get rid of the blank column that appears between columns 3 and 4.
I have noticed that column 4 keeps getting reset to 5.09 rather than the 5.1 that I enter.  Could that be doing it? And if so WHY is it not allowing me to change it?
    Any ideas?

  • Problems with my mail since switch to chrome

I don't know that they are related but who knows.  I posted a similar question a few days ago and didn't receive any answers and I'm still having problems.
    I have these emails:
    comcast.net
    3 google
    1 me.com
they all go off line and won't come back on except for the me.com.  It is the only one I can send with.  I can receive mail at all of them but if I try  to send with any of the other servers they say offline and never go back on.
Yesterday I deleted all of the accounts and redid them and they worked fine - yesterday.  But I shut down and again this morning they are all off line and I can't get them back on.
I deleted them again and now I can't get the Comcast one to automatiacally load up in mail.  I try to set it up and it says it can't find it.  According to Comcast everything on their end is working fine and again I can receive mail but not send.
I stopped using Safari a few days ago and downloaded Chrome and this is when the problems started.
    Any ideas at all?
    Susan

Don't know if this is the same problem, but may give a clue?
I am with Blueyonder (Virgin) and I have 5 email mailboxes for my primary email account, but only 3 are active and set up. Suddenly two of those accounts stopped working last Friday (went grey and can't access), but one of them was, and is still fine!? I emailed Virgin, but got no response from them. So I rang today, but they said if I could access my web mail then the problem wasn't with them.
After some considerable experimentation, I discovered the following. Go into Selfcare on the Virgin site, and access your email account. It said that one of my mailboxes could not be deleted because it was the same account name as my Blueyonder web site space (which I don't use). It said if I change the name of my web site, giving a link to it, I could then delete that email account. When you click on the link to change your web site name, you're presented with a drop-down menu to simply select one of your other email accounts (if you don't have one, create another one!).
Now I have no desire to delete that email account, but I discovered the email account that shares the same name as the website, does NOT work! So after I chose a web site name from an email account I don't use, the original email starting working (had to quit mail and restart before it did though!).
That's all rather bizarre I know, but it worked and indicates it was something going on at Virgin and not at my end!?
Anyway, hope that may help some of you.
I did also make some changes/additions to the Mail server list in the Preferences, but you can find that on another post I made here today if that's useful.

  • Problem with 4 displays since upgrading from 10.3.9 to 10.5.6

I was happily running 4 displays from my 2 graphics cards (9600XT and 9200) under 10.3.9. 3 x DVI (one of which is with the ACI adapter) and 1 running via VGA to a plasma TV. The 3 displays running from DVI were all "name" recognized and all resolution options were available.
I have now upgraded to 10.5.6 and suddenly two of the displays are recognized and I am only given a single, low resolution option on the other two - also on these two affected displays, display the Leopard background (the Universe pic) is mainly blue - almost like when you have a loose cable (but they are not).
The problem is not card specific i.e. it seem to effect one socket from each card.
I have tried swapping the displays between the cards and when I do the alternate display is then recognized so it can't be a problem with any of the displays either.
Any ideas? I need all 4 displays running in their respective resolutions (and without a blue screen) for Logic screenshots.

No, you're still not (quite) getting it.
The addresses in the log are from computers in our network
You mean the client address, right? not the address of the host that was being looked up.
. If I am reading the log right, our clients are querying a root server when they should be querying the local DNS
No, that's not what it's saying.
    Given the log line:
    15-Mar-2010 09:19:49.130 client 192.168.89.254#3054: view com.apple.ServerAdmin.DNS.public: RFC 1918 response from Internet for 10.141.168.192.in-addr.arpa
This means that the client (on your network) at 192.168.89.254 asked your server for the reverse DNS lookup for 192.168.141.10.
Since your server doesn't know anything about 192.168.141.10 it queried the root server and got back an RFC1918 response (because no public server should ever respond to a query for a 192.168.x.x address).
The point is that your server queried the root server, not the client on the network. This is exactly the same as if the client requested a name lookup for a domain that the server didn't know about - it would query the root servers to find out where to get the answer. At no point, though, does the client query the root server and, indeed, since you're seeing this log entry it means the client is correctly configured.
I have no idea where to troubleshoot,
What's to troubleshoot? As long as you don't expect to be authoritative for 192.168.141.x there's no issue here (other than maybe why the client requested that address in the first place). In short, this kind of thing happens all the time and I wouldn't think twice about it as long as 192.168.141.x is not one of your networks. If it is then clearly your machine isn't setup to handle that zone which might be something to address. You haven't yet stated whether you expect to resolve 192.168.141.x addresses or not.

Celeb Daily is a celeb picture site that you can vote a rating of 12 different pics "daily". Since switching from Int. Exp. to Firefox they no longer come up, only texts & boxes. What gives? I am far from computer savvy. Don't go all technical on me if it's fixable. Thanx.
