Asus vg248qe silverlight/netflix problem

Hi,
I'm having an issue with my Asus VG24QE monitor when using Silverlight/Netflix. I made a video to help illustrate the issue:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsSpz6UcShA

Just figured out a solution.
Copied the Silverlight plugin from my Mac Pro to my MBP. Now Netflix works just fine.

  • Windows 8.1 Pro WMC, Radeon R290X and ASUS VG248qe, cable advisor fails

I ran cable adviser and for my graphics section it fails. The result is:
    Memory:     Pass
    Processor:   Pass
Graphics:    Fail  Your graphics card or driver doesn't support content protection
It used to work under windows 7 but what I changed since then is the monitor to the ASUS VG248QE which supports HDCP, the videocard from GTX 780ti to Dual R290X and the OS to windows 8.1 Pro. I have the latest driver (catalyst 14.4) installed. I
don't get why it would say Graphics Fail. My monitor is connected via DVI-D. Any ideas to help solve this?

  • Netflix Problem iPad

    Hey there,
my Netflix App has not been working on my iPad for 2-3 months now. No matter what movie/show I want to watch I always get the message "Cannot play movie. Please try again later". I can watch Netflix on my iPhone and MacBook without any problems.
Here's what I've tried so far:
    - delete and reinstall the Netflix app
    - reboot my iPad
    - restore my iPad
    - iPad runs the latest iOS update and Netflix update
I also called Netflix support service. They told me there's nothing they can do to help me and there's probably something wrong with the iPad/iOS. Again: it works perfectly fine on my iPhone.
Has anyone had the same problem? It's quite annoying
PS: My iPad also won't play videos in Safari. It used to work without any problems, but suddenly stopped also 2-3 months ago. I just get a crossed play-button (on the exact same websites as before).

So I have now downloaded the latest Netflix app update and it has not fixed the problem at all. It still says "Cannot play video, connected display is not supported." I downloaded the NBC app and that says "Airplay is not supported." I have not problem playing videos straight from the Safari app or Youtube. Can anyone out there tell me what is wrong. This is super frustrating. It isn't clear to me if this is a Netflix problem or Apple problem since people at either place point to the other company when I talk to them on the phone. It ***** when updates create problems where none existed before.
    Anyone else running into this?
    Anyone found a fix?

  • Has the Asus G71GX-RX05 GPU problem been fixed?

Has the Asus G71GX-RX05 GPU problem been fixed? And if so what do you have to do to fix it.

    hi vanhelsing.
i know that asus was working on an updated BIOS to fix the GPU issue, and according to the last post in this thread on the asus support forums (http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?id=20090627114124765&board_id=3&model=G71Gx(BestBuy)&SLanguage=e...), rev. 1201 seems to have done the trick.
i checked the asus support website (http://support.asus.com), and i found that there is an even new version of the BIOS - rev. 1302. i would recommend moving to this BIOS upon unboxing your G71GX.
i have updated the BIOS on both notebooks and desktops before, and the process is fairly painless. i found this link off the asus support site (http://support.asus.com/technicaldocuments/technicaldocuments.aspx?root=198&SLanguage=en-us), and it describes how to update the BIOS. i would recommend having a conversation with your local geek squad if you're not comfortable doing the process yourself.

  • Netflix problems with macbook pro

does anyone have a problem accessing netflix? I had a geek squad agent install silverlight which he said is the operating system netflix uses, and it worked for awhile but now im again getting the error message that the netflix site is temporarily unavailble...yet i can access it from my iphone just fine.  Anyone know how to fix this?

Powercycle  both the ATV & Router as step #1 and see what happens.
I don't understand what that means....  this is something that happened as of the last Apple TV update so if it is the connection btw the router and ATV, it's as a result of that update.  None of these problems existed before that.
Is there anyway to revert to the previous version of the ATV operating system?  I'd just as soon do that....

  • Silverlight/Netflix/ MAC OS X LEOPARD 10.5

I have a MackBook Version 10.411! About two days ago I got a pop in reference to "Silverlight" asking to disable it. (So I did) I had no idea it was connected to "Netflix" No I am unable to see any movies. Plus Apple no longer has Mac os x 10.5 version my computer is now asking for! How can I fix this terrible problem with out it costing me everything I have? is it possible to go back to the older silverlight version before this disaster! PLEASE HELP! THANK YOU.

With SilverLight, Microsoft attempted to create their own version of what a replacement for Flash could be - but not to universal acclaim. You can read more about it here:
    http://silverlight.net/
So, if you go to any sites that have been designed for this new Silverlight stuff, you can download the plug-in from here (but make certain that you are downloading SilverLight v.1.0 for OS X (10.4.8 upwards) if you are using a PPC Mac, but even this will not work with Safari 4. Version 2 only works with Intel Macs and does work with Safari 4/5. The solution is to download and install the latest version of Flip4Mac, which now includes a Silverlight component:
    http://dynamic.telestream.net/downloads/download-flip4macwmv.htm
But the latest news is that Microsoft will probably abandon Silverlight in favour of HTML5:

  • Silverlight (Netflix) not working after latest Firefox update

After the latest Firefox update (34.0.5), I can't get Silverlight to work on Netflix. I get a black screen with no error codes.
Netflix has a checklist of things to do if you get a black screen (https://help.netflix.com/en/node/95), and I've done all of these things several times -- manually removing Netflix cookies, uninstalling and reinstalling Silverlight (and I used a Fix-It app on the Microsoft website to troubleshoot), disabling ad blockers and virus software, and scanning for malware. I've done all of these things, and nothing has helped. I can play Netflix videos in Chrome, but I think there's no reason why I shouldn't be able to use my preferred browser, especially since I was able to do it without incident up until Wednesday night.
I had two chats with Netflix tech support. Neither were much help, but the second person suggested that I uninstall Firefox entirely and then reinstall. I don't really want to do that. I'm not really that tech-y, and I'm afraid of losing my settings. Honestly, I would cancel Netflix before doing that.
Has anybody else had this problem? Are there any OTHER workarounds or suggestions of what I can try to fix this problem? Also, is it possible to be prompted when there's a new Firefox update.. and not have it automatically updated without my permission? I can't, by any chance, roll back to the version when everything worked fine?

So, it sounds like there's a compatibility problem. I didn't realize that Firefox accesses Silverlight in a whole different way. Do you think Firefox needs to be updated/patched to be able to work with the Silverlight plugin again, or does the plugin need to be updated to be compatible with the latest version of Firefox?
    </blockquote>
First of all, I´m not a IT guy...just a fan of "firefox".
Regarding your question, since this issue started with the 34.0.5
version of "firefox" it´s my opinion that it´s "firefox" the one that
should be updated/patched to work again with "netflix".

  • Any Help For Yet Another HDCP For Playback/Netflix Problem?

I have a very complex set-up and had no problem streaming until the other night and I have tried every single solution I can find online under the sun so that is why I am posting here.
I have a Pioneer Receiver that I used a Terk Smart HDMI 3 x 1 Selector with and was able to stream Netflix with no problem.
This is how everything used to be set up:
    Pioneer Receiver
    Blu-ray IN
    HDMI OUT Terk
    DVD IN
    Panasonic DVD Recorder OUT
    OUT
    Panasonic LCD TV HDMI 1
    Terk HDMI 3 x 1 Selector
    OUT
    Pioneer Receiver Bluray IN
    Panasonic Bluray Player
    Input 1
    AppleTV (3rd Gen.)
    Input 2
    Mac Mini (2010)
    Input 3
Now here's the rub:  I also have a PS3.  I used to unplug either the ATV or Mini whenever I wanted to use it and I got tired of switching out so I bought a Monoprice 8 x 1 HDMI Selector.  The logic here being that I would have more than enough HDMI inputs to plug in everything.
When I first hooked up the Monoprice, I hooked the OUT from it into the Bluray IN on the Pioneer and then hooked all of the HDMI cables from all of the various electronics into the INputs on it.  Tested all of them to see that it autoselected whatever I had chosen and even was able to stream on NF.
This is how I have everything hooked up now:
    Monoprice 8 x 1
    OUT
    Pioneer Receiver Bluray IN
    ATV
    Input 1
    Panasonic Bluray Player
    Input 2
    PS3
    Input 3
    Mac Mini
    Input 4
    Panasonic DVD Recorder*
    Input 5
*Bluray IN  and OUT are the only HDMI slots in use on the Pioneer Receiver using this hookup.
Now all of a sudden yesterday I went to stream NF via the ATV and I got that "This content requires HDCP for playback" error.
I did everything I could think of and also tried all of the suggestions I could find on the web.  I had already switched out the HDMI cables as I had bought new ones when I got the Monoprice.  So I hooked the Terk back up thinking it would "fix" things.  No dice.  I put the old HDMI cables back on.  No dice.  I have it hooked up now with the old HDMI cables and still no dice.  I unplugged everything and let it sit thinking I could force a new HDMI handshake.  NF started streaming for 5 seconds and froze -- and then the error message.
I also have a Scientific Atlanta DVR that the ATV is plugged into that the HDMI 2 of the Panasonic TV is connected via HDMI.  The Panasonic TV isn't "old" as I think I got it in late 2009 or late 2010, as it has more than enough HDMI inputs, component, and also a PC connection -- in case someone wanted to suggest the TV wasn't capable of handling the hookups. The ATV is running the latest version of the software.
This is really frustrating since it worked with no problem from the day I got the ATV and now after upgrading the switcher to get more HDMI inputs, everything went kaput.
And I just don't know what to do.
I'm not sure if having everything being dependent upon the Panasonic TV being powered on is affecting things, but it never affected things when I was using the 3 x 1 HDMI switch.  When I wanted to use the ATV, I'd press the Bluray input on the Pioneer receiver, hit the ATV remote and it would come on.  Click into NF and voila: streaming with no problems.
Currently, I still do the same thing -- and I can listen to the radio, stream in iTunes Match on the ATV.  It's just the NF issue that's really beyond me.  The only thing I can think of to try is to maybe put the DVR in the surge protector slot so that it has to be powered on so that everything else will power up instead of the TV?
I'm hoping someone has a suggestion that involves something other than restarting/restoring the ATV, or unplugging things for 30 seconds because I have tried everything I've come across.  I just don't know what to do but I really would like to be able to use NF on the ATV because I like the fact that it plays in Dolby, and I really don't want to have to go back to the PS3 to utilize that feature.
In the meantime, I guess I will switch the DVR on the surge protector with the TV and see what happens if I change the way things power up in the chain.

I am at a loss.  I thought I had a micro USB cord but since I didn't, I wasn't able to downgrade the software.
I did a complete restore for kicks.
    This is the current setup
    ATV HDMI
    Panasonic TV HMDI 2
    ATV optical output
    Pioneer Receiver
Again, all of the other devices run through the 8 x 1 switch box which is NOT powered on to use the ATV.
I get the HDCP error whenever I try to access the following:
    Netflix
    Trailers
    Vimeo
    WSJ Live
HHL and the other sports channels
    These work fine:
    Radio
    iTunes Match
    Podcasts
    Flickr
TV Shows and Movies because I tested both watching previews and they streamed perfectly
I've changed the settings on the ATV until I'm blue in the face and this is what they are currently:
    Dolby - Auto
    Audio Output - Auto
    HDMI Output - Auto
TV Resolution - 1080p HD - 60Hz -- and yes I've had it set on both "Auto" and 720p HD - 60Hz and neither stopped the error once it started happening
All of the equipment is HDCP compliant as I checked
The cable between the TV and ATV
    The 8 x 1 switch box
Panasonic TV specs -- it is HDCP compliant as I said in my 3rd post (according to the manual)
The Pioneer Receiver (for good measure)
I have no idea of what to do other than to hope that Apple does something with the next update to restore everything, as this HDCP issue is really beyond annoying and it's clear 5.2 broke something.  In the meantime, I really am open to suggestions to try something else other than smashing the ATV with a hammer

  • HT1365 Apple TV and  Netflix problem

My apple TV works well with all the apps on it except with Netflix. Lately it will quit and state " Your Apple TV isn't connected to the Internet " to check your network setting go to   etc etc . I do that and go to for instance Utube and there is NO problem and switch back to Netflix, it runs for a while and then get the same message !! I have tried ALL of netflix and apple's suggestions but to no avail !! HELP !!

I don't think this has anything to do with wireless. You should post in the AppleTV area.
There does seem to be a bug or 6.
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/24065052#24065052
If you are posting here because you think it is a wireless router issue..
I strongly suggest you run an ethernet cable to your AppleTV and use that for a test.
Wireless for streaming is always a bad idea when you live in an area where wireless is grossly overused.

  • Netflix problems since last night (Canada)

Is it just on my end or is it the AppleTV's fault? The white wheel just spins for ages until eventually it times out and returns to the movie selection screen. I get no error messages.
It's been going on since yesterday evening. I managed to watch one show, but it's hard.
Edit: Works on the Wii, but not on the MacBook (MacBook buffers for a long time, no point in trying to watch).

Have you tried talking to Netflix? I haven't noticed any problems, but sometimes it could be server-related or a lot of traffic causing slowdowns. If you're using wifi that can sometimes cause issues.

  • How do i solve the silverlight installation problems

How do I solve the Sliverlight installation issues on my new Macbook pro?

What exactly is the installation issue?
    Uninstall Silverlight: https://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/get-started/install/removing-silverligh t-mac.aspx
    Reinstall Silverlight: https://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/Get-Started/Install/Default.aspx
Sometimes you may need to repair permissions and users permissions on the machine.

..Step by Step to fix your Mac
If your having trouble with the installation process, it's sort of the same procedure to install Flash
How to install/uninstall Flash, fix problems
Installing software from the web is a bit more difficult than from AppStore.
Microsoft Silverlight should be approved through Gatekeeper, so having to control or right click on the installer to select "Open" to bypass Gatekeeper shouldn't be required.
If this is occuring, like it's saying this app can't be installed as it's not from MacAppStore or a Apple Identified Developer, then it's likely not the real Silverlight but a trojan malware.
Please use the links I've provided to install Silverlight as they are direct to Microsoft.

  • Netflix Problems

When loading a netflix movie to watch instantly my MBPr only loads to 98% and freezes. I have tried reinstalling microsoft silverlight, using 3 different browsers, (safari, chrome, and firefox) and none of it work. The movies worked fine on my previous MBP (mid 2009 model)
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

Apart from downgrading/upgrading your Silverlight and trying again I have no suggestions.
Might help if you contact Netflix support as they have dealt with all sorts of issues and might have a solution.

  • Netflix Problems: Think I figured it out.

Got a brand new Apple TV (2) tonight. Set it up, got connected, no go with Netflix (but everything else worked) just like everybody else. I tried power cycling and it didn't help. I also updated the firmware and even tried the Google DNS, nothing worked. After much fussing, updating, tweaking, and swearing, I unplugged the thing from power and left it for a few minutes instead of just a few seconds. When I plugged it back in this time, it did something it hadn't done before:
    NOW SETTING DATE AND TIME.
This sounded familiar to me since I know that incorrect date and time settings on a computer can cause all sorts of issues with online services. Sure enough, I logged into Netflix on the Apple TV properly (finally) and it seems to be working just fine.
Since this was a brand new device, it had not had an opportunity to do this yet, as opposed to others who already had the device before the latest update.
I suppose there's really no way for me to know for sure whether or not this was indeed the problem, but considering it updated the time and now it's working properly, the date/time seems to be the culprit.
For those whose issues keep recurring, a likely explanation would be that maybe the unit isn't preserving the date and time when it sleeps. And also why some of those people consistently resolve the issue with a power cycle.

So far this seems to be working for me. Thanks for the discovery, and I hope it lasts!
