Async Desktop
Hi,
I selected the Desktop property Async Mode to enable, then after rendering the desktop, layout(Especially the menu) is gone. I mean the page rendered with irregular layout.
Can any one help me what i have to do if i want to reder the desktop asynchronously
It is not so clear for me what exactly portlet level ajax mode is. Let say if you put 2 portlets A and B on the pages, when you click on a link on portlet A which is point to an action:
- If the mode is "compability": then only portlet A action is called and if the action update or generate new content, it will be updated for portlet A, the portal page is not reload, only the div that contain portlet A is updated.
- Similar scenario, what would happen if "enable" mode is used? The portal page is reload? the refresh action of portlet B is also called? or only the current jsp of portlet B is called?

I recently installed all the of CC 2014 applications and noticed that in Photoshop CC 2014, when I choose the "Browse in Bridge" menu option it doesn't launch Bridge at all. Instead it opens the Creative Cloud desktop application window instead. I have the latest version of Bridge installed as well. If I have Bridge running, the menu option also just opens the CC window and doesn't bring Bridge to the front either. I have PS installed on both a Mac (10.9.3) and Windows (8.1) and the behaviour is the same.
I only Run windows and my install of CC 2014 works correctly and launches Bridge CC. Bridge CC was also updated to launch CC 2014 and not CC 14.2.1.
Hers is my Photoshop CC 2014 help>System info... You may want to compare your windows systems CC 2014 info to it.

[SOLVED] Gnome 3.6 desktop stopped working after few boots
I have been an avid ArchLinux user for many years but really need some help on this one. It drives me nuts.
It started with the big systemd/gnome 3.6 update, went pretty smooth, got GDM and then my desktop. I think that at some point I added an Exchange account in the online account panel. I think the next reboot I could not pass GDM, only the Oops windows. Un-installed a couple of suspicious gnome-shell-extensions but still no luck with Gnome although KDE, LXDE and XFCE are working just fine. I then moved my home folder in order to start from a fresh one but still no luck after one reboot. Then I got tired and thought that maybe it was time to do a clean systemd install and switch to SSD. That's what I did and got my desktop working pretty easily. Installed Equinox theme and couple of extensions via the online service (mainly to hide icons). I did many reboot during that time and it was fine. Then I started reinstalling a lot of packages from texlive to audacity. In the meantime I added two online accounts; one gmail when I asked to sync calendar & contacts and another one with an Exchange account (calendar sync only). Gmail account seemed to work fine and I could see the calendar events in both evolution and the top bar. Exchange didn't work so I installed evolution-ews package and then continued to install my other many packages. I then rebooted and guess what? Ooops is back. This time dmesg says:
systemd-journald[210]: File /var/log/journal/03137ccde67641f0a7ff7949e7384a8f/user-1000.journal corrupted or uncleanly shut down, renaming and replacing.

Removed ~/.local but didn't fix the problem. It is official ... I am really lost!
I removed Equinox theme, telepathy-gabble but still no luck.

I found that the following official package will break my Gnome 3.6 pretty easily:
- pygtksourceview2 : this one instantly crashes Gnome and you are no longer able to log in.
- pycups and pysmbc : doesn't crash immediately but after 10s you get the oops.
Let's remove them from the real install to see if it fixes the problem.
[EDIT] Tried again to install the above three package inside a fresh Gnome install living into a VM and it didn't crash. See post above regarding my broken Gnome which was related to fingerprint-gui package from AUR.

[New_Feature_Requirement] Async texture uploading for Stage3D
Here is the feature request: Feature#3828999 - [New_Feature_Requirement] Async texture uploading for Stage3D
Problem: we developing a lot of applications with many high resolution resources and we can't preload all content because GPU memory very limited.
Only way - dynamic resources managing. But uploading textures very expensive operations with current Texture.uploadFromBitmapData and Texture.uploadFromByteArray methods. Every upload function call with 2048*2048 BitmapData causes 50-100 ms UI freeze (even on desktop platforms!). It's not acceptable - we need smooth media galleries, UI and so on.
We need async BitmapData uploading to Texture that not kill application performance. Please implement this feature as soon as possible. We need it both mobile and desktop platforms.
I'd like to ask everyone who interested in it to take a minute and vote for implementing this feature.
Thanks.+1

Can CS6 exploit the GPU on my desktop when accessed from my laptop with RDP?
Just to clarify further: both machines running windows 7 professional or better (so the full version of RDP is available), and CS6 runiing on the desktop, accessed from my laptop.
As the GPU is being used as a compute resource, will CS use the desktop GPU for acceleration?
sad day if not - I am considering ditching expensive laptops and use a medium spec laptop together with a good gutsy desktop (which is about 1/3rd the price / performance) as I have a good network to run over at home. The water is somewhat muddied. I have only a Windows 7 and Windows 8 system to try it with at the moment.
This is what I got when I RDP'd into a Windows 8 VM from Windows 7:
Adobe Photoshop Version: 13.0 (13.0 20120315.r.428 2012/03/15:21:00:00) x64

I have Photoshop working okay on the above system using the OpenGL VMware provides when I log directly into the console...
I don't think the above failure says anything definitive one way or another what's up with your particular request yet, though it does tell me I need to do some additional testing to try to understand what's happening so that I know how my own products are going to behave in this situation.
I have a Windows 7 VM I can test with. Watch this space...

Disc Framework, Async Content and IE
Good Day,
We have implemented JavaPortlets inside weblogic portal that render the page using the request dispatcher and the desktop is using Async Content. When minimizing, restoring the window to normal mode or for any portal event handled by the portlet, the memory increases with Internet Explorer because the old contents are not removed for the memory.
We have tested the portal with FireFox and it works fine without this problem.
The problem is aggravated when the HTML content is big such as flash movies that occupies significant amount of the client memory.
Could any one help us with this, please? You may need to try and delete the contents of the Portlet's main <div> using removeChild or similar DOM manipulation, just before the innerHTML is replaced (presuming that IE won't release memory when replacing innerHTML but will release the memory if the old DOM is explicitly removed).
To try this you'd need to do the DOM removal/clean-up at the right time but taking advantage of the Disc lifecycle events:

I think OnPrepareMarkup would the the right time to do it. You can add a listener to that event, like in this example:

PhotoShop CS2 Bridge caused strange loss of desktop visibility/memory ??
I have a G5 (Duel) running Tiger 10.4.6. Just lately the Bridge in Photoshop CS2 has not been working too well - it became very slow and sometimes didn't "see" my images. Yesterday I could get it to find my image folders at all. Then all my desktop started to look weird - even when I wasn't using the Bridge. So I closed all the applications and restarted the computer. To my horror all my desktop and preferences (dock, safari, desktop picture, folders etc.) had been lost. At first I thought I had somehow lost all my image folders but using spotlight I found them all there - distribted in places I had never put them. I sorted everything out again and re-did all my customised stuff but it was scary! At no time did the computer give me any warning of any trouble. It did not crash or anything. I was running QuarkXpress 5 (classic 9) as well and had a Skype window open (although I wasn't using it to talk at the time) Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this happened - has it happened to anyone else ? Thanks for any help.. Diana

Hi jamba,
I think the issue is that your output of lspci shows no Audio device. Perhaps it got disabled in the BIOS? dmesg output may indicate something else afoot with your audio hardware.
Hope that helps.
I'll check out dmesg output. also still need to check if something got disabled in the BIOS.
!snd_intel8x0m <- is your problem. Your sound module got blacklisted so un-list it. Modprobe it then try sound again or just reboot and it should work.
moonswan. snd_intel8x0 is the sound card (I think), in the alsa wiki it said it was recommended to blacklist snd_intel8x0m as a quirk fix.
No sound with or without it blacklisted still :-(

Download error in (osx) adobe desktop app (corrupted download link).
Here is a discription of the problem. Please consider that some of the wording might not be correct, as I do have to translate the error message from German into English.
Using OSX 10.9.2, when clicking inside the adobe desktop app (top of the screen bar) on the tap "apps", the following screen (screenshot) appears, which states, translated from top to bottom:
download error
download error. Please contact support.
(link) contact support
(link/button) download creative cloud -> This button unfortunatly leads to the following error page "http://www.adobe.com/special/errorpages/404.html"
All apps, like Bridge, Photoshop, Lightroom, etc. are installed and work just fine. So no problem here. I seem however unable to redownload the desktop app (in order to reinstall). As stated above the provided link inside the desktop app itself is coruppted and within the (online) web-based download centre (user logged in) I am only adviced to use the desktop app. This is a dead end and I do not know what to make of this error, let alone solving it. Please help!I am sorry Romsinha but this doesn't really help.
I already restarted the desktop app and while I am obviously online and connected the problem (error message) remains the same. Information within the "home" tap is recieved/loaded (little blue spinning wheel) stating that various apps recently have been updated. Yet the same loading wheel within the "apps" tap results in an error. My best guess is that some internal link within the app is corrupted, leading to a source on a server that can not be reached.
UPDATE
I clean uninstalled adobe creative cloud as discribed in the article you provided (using the cleaner tool) and even uninstalled the browser plugin. After downloading and reinstalling creative cloud the problem however remains the same. "Apps" tap still shows the same problem. "Home" tap now displays the following: -

Adobe Cloud is installed on my desktop and one laptop computer. Upon noticing updates were available yesterday, I successfully installed them on my laptop. Today, I cannot get Abobe Cloud to open on my desktop.
We don't know what Apple plans on doing to change this (and it may not be just Apple but more likely the publishers, since Apple would, of course, do whatever it could to maximize sales/profits). Right now you can only read Apple books on mobile devices. Sure, buy them from Amazon if you want to read them on the computer. We don't work for Apple so we're pretty impartial on this kind of advice.
You might also see what your library can offer. My wife can browse the county library from her iPhone, borrow e-versions, and read books on it too. Free! -
ALL MY DESKTOP APPS CONVERTED TO PDF FILES.
After sending an urgent email attachment in Adobe PDF to Government Offcom, all my Desktop applications in windows 7 64 bit have been converted to PDF files and cannot be opened. The attachment used was sent to me by my Secretary remotely using an old MAC.
I can return my laptop to normal operation by un installing my Adobe Reader 11 app, but the problem returns when I re Download Adobe Reader
11 again. After discussing this with Adobe Technical in London they advised me to raise this issue with your Adjudicators in this Forum.
Please assist asap as this is very urgent right now for several genuine reasons.
Many thanks. Derek Horder.See if anything in here helps: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/application-file-icons-change-acrobat.html

I can't save downloads to documents folder, only to desktop...
Only desktop saves are allowed. The message states, "Word cannot save or create this file. This disk may be full or write protected..." The disk isn't full, so I'm not sure what to do. I'm having to save everything to the desktop and then move files into document folders in Finder. Any advice on how to save directly to documents or what may be wrong? Thanks so much!.
Back up all data now.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. You can demote it back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR.. ; sudo chown -R $UID:20 ~ $_ ; chmod -R -N ~ $_ 2> /dev/null
Be sure to select the whole line by triple-clicking anywhere in it. You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. You don't need to post the warning. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command.
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
Step 2
Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select Utilities ▹ Terminal from the menu bar. A text window opens.
In the Terminal window, type this:
resetpassword
That's one word with no spaces. Then press return. A Reset Password window opens. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
Select ▹ Restart from the menu bar.
