At Firefox Start I get a message saying Urgent Your version of Firefox is no longer protected against on line attacks Get the Upgrade it's fast and free. Get the Upgrade is underined to click on. Is this legit or a scam?
It has a yellow triangle next to it with a ! in it.
That is a legitimate message from Mozilla. Support has ended for Firefox 3.5.19. You need to upgrade to a newer version of Firefox. The hyperlink takes you to a download page for Firefox 4.0.1 and Firefox 3.6.17 is available here - http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

Each time I start Firefox it says:
"URGENT! Your version of Firefox is no longer protected against online attacks. Get the upgrade - it’s fast and free!"
I am using ver. 3.6.13 and upgrading "successfully" only stays on 3.6.13 with same URGENT message.Your UserAgent string in Firefox is messed up and needs to be reset. <br />
[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_Agent]
type '''about:config''' in the URL bar and hit Enter <br />
''If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page.'' <br />
Filter ='''general.useragent.''' <br />
Right-click the preferences that are '''bold''', one line at a time, and select ''' ''Reset'' ''', <br />
Then restart Firefox -
Is there always a warning about virus downloads for Firefox?
"legitimate message" is not much to go on.
I'd be only too happy to upgrade, but my end users are dependent on Java Initiator to load specific software interface to access Oracle database. that functionality is disabled in FF 3.6 and later...
We aren't the hosts of the database, and our(my) pleas to the admins who host the third party front end to upgrade the JRE on the server are met with, "we're not going to reverse engineer their system..."
So while I'm stuck at 3.5.x, i'd like to know what it is in 3.5.18 or 19 that makes upgrade so Urgent, and I haven't found guidance in support.mozilla.org. -
This message keeps appearing on my google home page no matter which upgrade is installed. this has occured for the last three upgrades. It also affects youtube and hotmail which keep telling me my browser is outdated even though I have just installed the current version. I am running xp pro on an old, slow Netvista.

This showed up today when I went online. I do not know if it is legit or what. What do I do?
The Firefox 3.5.x branch has reached end-of-life and is no longer maintained.<br />
You will no longer receive security updates.<br />
You can update Firefox via "Help > Check for Updates" or download and install the latest Firefox 3.6.x or 4.0.x version.<br />

When I tried to drag the Firefox icon (as instructed after downloading) to Applications, it kept "bouncing" back. I have assumed my system would not accept it.
What have you figured out? Anything? What you show just shows a pretty quiet system except for firefox having a bunch of tabs open. You've got some page ins and outs so you maybe your'e hitting your HD with swap files more than what you think?
I think something like coconut battery app or something like it will tell you the charge cycles on the battery. How many do you have?
Lastly, are you using any extensions like ad blocker, or click to flash? -
I've downloaded the 'new' version twice in the last week. This has no effect.
You need to reset your user agent string (identifies version of Firefox). Yours has been modified by several add-ons and is now stuck at showing Firefox 3.0.5
For details of how to fix this see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Websites+or+add-ons+incorrectly+report+incompatible+browser -

what version of firefox can I use?
What that message is referring to is one of the safer browsing features no longer working in older versions of Firefox. Firefox has a feature to warn you if a site you are trying to access is a suspected phishing site/web forgery or contains malware. It does this by checking with a database maintained by Google of suspect sites, and if the site is in the Google database it warns you before you access the site. The database used by Firefox 3.0 and earlier has been discontinued so you will no longer get any warnings. Firefox 3.5 and later use a new database of suspect sites.

when i want to download firefox, it gets downloaded from a different site everytime. Is this legit?
For example: a box from Norton Antivirus will pop up to ask me if I want to download firefox from ______ . The line will be filled with a different site everytime (this is one site: saimei.acc.umu.se). Can I trust this?Yes as there is not one server but several mirrors around the help load balance the releases.mozilla.org
http://www.mozilla.org/community/mirrors.html
Many of the mirrors are Universities and also help host for other open source stuff like various Linux distros.
The one you link to is a University in Sweden. -
Having installed an upgrade for Photoshop Elements 13, I cannot open the application. I get an error message saying "Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor cannot be opened because of a problem. Check with the developer to make sure Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor works with this version of OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and OS X".
I have since uninstalled and reinstalled the app, but get the same error message.Which version of OS X do you have? It's not clear from your post whether "installed an upgrade" means you just installed PSE 13 as an upgrade or you installed an update to PSE 13, like ACR 9 or 13.1. Please clarify.

I updated to iTunes 12 and didn't like it. Followed advice to revert to 11.1. Now my iPhone 5 won't sync and error message says I need iTunes 11.2 or higher. Apple Download choices didn't have anything between 11.1.5 and 12. What can I do? Using iTunes 12 is not an option. Many features I used for audiobooks have disappeared.
The version immediately prior to 12 was 11.4.0.18. Here are direct download links from Apple's servers:
iTunes 11.4.0.18 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe (2014-09-09)
iTunes 11.4.0.18 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe (2014-09-09)
