At what point is a user record created in the WWSEC_PERSON$ table?
Hello -
We are using OID for our SSO into the Oracle Portal. When we sync AD -> OID, when I query the Portal WWSEC_PERSON$ table and the new users are not present. I have to go into the Portal Administration page, query one of the users and set a default group. After this action they will have a record in the WWSEC_PERSON$ table.
The reason Im asking is we are trying to automate the default group assignment using the wwsec_api.set_defaultgroup api, but because these users are missing from the WWSEC_PERSON$ table, they obviously cannot be assigned a group.
Is there a way to force new users into the portal DB table? Has anyone else automated this type of assignment?
Thanks
Brian
I've found that ODS.DS_ATTRSTORE comes in very handy to query OID data using SQL. There are multiple attribute records for each entry. The attribute 'uid' contains the user name and 'createtimestamp' contains the timestamp for when the user was created in OID after being synched from AD. The attribute 'orcldefaultprofilegroup' stores the default portal group for the user too.

When a new user is created on the Server Computer,Why profile for the user is created as computername.username?
This is done if there are domain users with the same name. For example, if there is a domain user named 'test' who has logged in on the server, he will get the profile 'test'. If you then create a local user named 'test', the profile 'test' already exists
and the computer will create the profile 'computername.test' -
Don't think this is possible but would love to be wrong.
Bullet Points:
1) In my demo form (simple hierarchy: form1.page1.table1.row1), 8 occurrences (instance "0" through instance "7") of the repeating row1 can be visible
before it causes a page break and adds another "page". No issues there.
2) I'm thinking about trying to control the end-users navigation abilities to only on-screen "previous page" and "next page" buttons.
(So no scrolling from page to page; keep them where we want them.) Only way I can see making this work is if the form is designed
and coded to only allow one page to be visible at a time --- nesting things correctly in a parent object then hide all necessary subforms
and only make the appropriate subform visible.
3) But when working with tables, when occurrence 9 gets added (aka instance 8), it triggers an on screen "Page 2" to be added.
End user can now scroll between Page 1 and Page 2.
4) Once Page 2 has been added, is there a way to reference Page 1 (as we see it on screen) and set it to be hidden?
5) Is what we are seeing on screen as "Page 1" and "Page 2" actually this.resolveNode("page1[0]") and this.resolveNode("page1[1]") ?
Tried messing around with referencing it this way but didn't seem to work. Maybe I had a typo but if we never set the subform named "page1"
to allow multiple instances, I'm guessing it's not referenced this way.
Any thoughts would be great. Thanks so much to this community.
BrianIf you're looking at learning a bit more about database design (looking at your description of what you've done in creating a separate table for each category of item sold sounds like you're approaching it as though it was a flat-file rather than a relational database), there's a few books that I could direct you to:
Beginning Database Design (ISBN 978-1590597699)
Database Design for Mere Mortals (ISBN 978-0201694710)
Databases Demystified (ISBN 978-0072253641)
Absolute Beginner's Guide to Databases (ISBN 978-0789725691)
I've also got an older book that's always sitting by my desk called Dreamweaver MX Databases (ISBN 978-0782141481), which I still reference regularly - chapter 3 on coding practices and chapter 5 on database design provide very good overviews of the subject.
There's also a Database Development for Dummies, but I'm not a huge fan of the series where they're tackling technical subjects.
Without knowing the data you're modeling, it's quite difficult to make generalisations, but I'd probably be looking at a single table called 'Product' (which contains all the product records), and which had in it a boolean for 'new item' and for 'on sale' (you could then use SQL to filter out new and/or sale items when you create your recordset). I'd then have a look up table called 'Categories' which held the values 'necklace', 'handbag', 'belt', and 'purse' which the Product table could then reference to identify.
Breaking your data down into a logical structure like this is called 'normalisation' (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Database_normalization) - although it's a bit technical. There's a simpler practical explanation of a similar query to yours at TechRepublic (http://articles.techrepublic.com.com/5100-10878_11-5288500.html), which uses MS Access, but don't worry about that as it's teaching a concept which is applicable no matter what the database server. -
Donot find user id 50001 in the HSP_USERS table
Hi All,
I am using EPM 11.1.1.1.0 and want to import a planning application. In one of the threads i read that you need to keep a backup of SID from HSP_USERS table in the schema where the USER)iD = 50001.
But i donot have a record in the HSP_USERS table with that user id (50001).
Can anybody please explain why i do not have it...
Thanks in advance...
AliciaHi,
Sometimes you don't have to update any records in the HSP_USERS table, if the migration is between planning applications that use the same shared services then you don't need too.
Also if you created the planning application with the default admin account as this doesn't change between environments.
If you do need to change it, change the record where the role = 3, make sure it is the same username between environments as well.
Cheers
John

Can some one help me in identifying the issue.Hello,
errno -22 means " Table already exists."
This could occur if:
- The install had failed before during the 2nd stage (i.e. some tables were created previously) and you did not drop the schema before re-install.
- The database user you are using has access to more than 1 WCS schemas and thought the tables exist already.
Suggestions:
1. Make sure the db user is set up as per the Configuring Supporting Software document ( http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E29495_01/doc.1111/webcenter_sites_11gr1_bp1_configuring_supporting_software.pdf )
2. If the second stage of the install fails, you must drop the database tables, undeploy the WebCenter Sites application, delete the WebCenter Sites file structure, and re-install WebCenter Sites. ( http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E29495_01/doc.1111/webcenter_sites_11gr1_bp1_install_on_weblogic.pdf )

Forms builder- only displays records created in the form builder?
Hi there. I am new to Oracle and forms builder. I just have a query. I have created a form and when I run the form, it doesnt display the data out of my database. I can add a new record using the form and it will add it to my database:

Hello Hell 5981131803
>
But it will only display the records that I have added using the form. Example, the first two records above were already in the database. I couldnt view them ith the form, but then I added the bottom record and I could only view that record in the form, but not the others.
Any ideas why? I think I just dont know how to use the forms builder properly. Many thanksForms starts with an empty screen(no records), only when you execute a query, the records are retrieved from the database.
This can be done by executing the "execute_query" command.
This can be done by pushing the button in the toolbaar, choosing the menu item, hitting the function key.
But it can also be done programmatically in forms code(in a trigger).
I hope this helps... -
At what point in an application do you load the properties?
should it be in a servlet?
It wouldn't occur to me to use a servlet to initialize a Java application. A web application, yes. But nowadays I wouldn't use a servlet to initialize properties in a web application. I would use a ServletContextListener.

Selecting specific records out of the same table with PICS
Post Author: nambi
CA Forum: Formula
I have a Database table in which we have information for our paint codes,
This database when accessed through our will display the types of tests we do for the products we manufacture, we manually enter in these results through the software. When I open up this same table in access I noticed that each test we do is displayed as new entry under the same product, therefore I have several entries for the same product code, and since we have several tests for each I am unable to specifically pull out the data I need.
For example I need to create a data sheet for our customers displaying the bake time for these all our products the Product code (formkey) is listed multiple times but all I need is to record the Bake (TargetAlphaValue) time. Out of this table I will also need to report on the Gloss. If I use the record selection I am only able to display one type of test although I will need to specify other types as well. This is the area I have the problem with,
I have shown in a jpg what I am looking for, would anyone here know how to pull out only the TargetAlphaValue and associate it to the bake and formkey? Then do the same with the Gloss test and pull up the TargetAlphaValue for that it would be of great helpCan you be more precise , please :
- which table stores the people identities ? (I call this one Identity)
- which table gives the class where the student works in (I cal l this one Claa_attendees)
- which table gives the instructor of a class (I call this one Class)
If your issue is that you have one table which stores Itendities , and you need to display Student identity and Instructor Identity, you have to call this table twice in your query , using table aliases . I mean :
Select Stud_iden.name, Instr_iden.name
From Identity Stud_iden, Identity Instr_iden, Class_attendees, Class
Where Class.clas_id = class_attendees.class_id
and class.instructor_id = Instr_iden.people_id
and class_attendees.student_id = Stud_iden.people_id
Is this what you need to do ? -
Multiple display formats for several records coming from the same table
Hello all,
I want to create one Crystal Reports XI report to display several records coming from one table, but I need different display format for different records from that one table.
There is a field RecordType and based on that value, the record will be displayed differently on the report page.
Can I have several sections in the report and to define different SQL query in each of them?
Example of the report I need to see on paper:
================================================
Summary of 216 vehicles: (the value 216 comes from record with RecordType=1)
Vehicle Category Number of Vehicles
A 5 (this value 5 comes from record with RecordType=2)
B 7 (this value 7 comes from record with RecordType=3)
D 4 (this value 4 comes from record with RecordType=4)
Category A vehicle numbers:
2345 6789 8765 5543 3452 (these five values come from records with RecordType=5)
Category B vehicle numbers:
9876 8876 9987 4321 6754 5215 4543 (these values come from records with RecordType=6)
Category D vehicle numbers:
2343 2344 2348 2377 (these values come from records with RecordType=8)
==============================================================
Text is fixed (labels), number values are coming from table records.
What would be a good way to do this in Crystal Reports XI ? In Cognos ReportNet, I would just create several Queries (SQL sentences) and place their outputs on a page, one after the other.
I use Crystal Reports XI R2 and Oracle 10g database through and ODBC connection.
Thank you,
MilanObaid and Debi,
Thank you for your replies.
I can create multiple sections in the report, but I don't know how to split the 20 records that I get back from the database to be displayed in 5 different report sections.
How can I define different SQL statement for each of 5 report sections?
How can I use cross-tabs to display what I need? Can I define SQL statement for each cross-tab and then I could place only RecordType=1 records into cross-tab-1 and all RecordType=2 records into cross-tab-2 ?
In Cognos ReportNet, I defined 2 Queries (SQL statements) and I just placed them in the report one below the other. Query_1 returns 1 record where RecordType value =1. Query_2 returns 5 records where RecordType value =2 and etc. So each record "section" displays record in the way I want it.
================================
Summary of 216 vehicles: (the value 216 comes from record where RecordType=1)
Category A vehicle numbers:
2345 6789 8765 5543 3452 (these values come from records where RecordType=2)
================================
How can I do that in Crystal Reports XI ?
How can I run several SQL statements from one report?
Thank you,
