how to implements Solr in ATG with jboss?

Solr is an open source search solution written on top of Lucene platform. Solr already emerged as an open source alternative against costly search solutions like endeca. As of now ATG doesn't have any out of the box integration with Solr platform. You should be able to do this using SolrJ api. I am also looking at integrating ATG with Solr. if I am successful in doing so I will post the details here.

By default ATG will store the sessionId and userPrefLanguage in cookies. If you enable cookie based authentication then ATG will store user profile id also in the cookies.

Life time of HTTPSession and Session Scoped components will be a particular browser session. Once you exit the browser, the session will be terminated.

No information related to order is stored in cookies, in a cookie based authentication, profile id will be available in the cookie and the order will be fetched using profile id.

Getting started with ATG and Eclipse

Hi,
I am newbie in ATG web commerce. I am doing some R&D how to integrate ATG with eclipse JBoss and oracle. I searched on Google, there is one very interesting topic about getting started with atg, jboss, oracle :

It is very helpful to me but there is one problem what are the requirements of eclipse to integrate it with ATG. I have a looked on ATGInstallationGuide.pdf, which url it shows is not working http://www.atg.com/eclipse. I think the url for ATG plugin has been changed now but I didn't found that url on google. Can you please help me to get correct url.
When I try to use this url using eclipse update manager. It shows me no features available for this site.

ATG and Endeca architecture strategy

Hi all.
I have an ATG multisite application with 3 distinct sites, each one with their own production server and Endeca app.
We are having some issues with Endeca indexing like the RepositoryExport /atg/commerce/search/ProductCatalogOutputConfig phase stays with Cleaning status.
So, here is my question. What server should trigger the index creation?

I assume you will also be having a single CA server (BCC) which will deploy the catalog data to all the sites. Thus, as per my understanding, the CA server should trigger the endeca indexing automatically upon deployments.

there are several reason not to chose s.th. else:

-portal runs on Bea appserver only
- missing identity managment
- missing policy management
- third party product needed for SSO, e.g. Netegrity SiteMinder (expensive)
- no hot deployment of channels/provider because portal+provider are one(!) web-app which has to be deployed as 1 web-app, downtime
-needs an additional DB like Oracle
-deployment, configuration is also done by XML files but the "rresult" is then stored in DB in different tables + filesystem and it can't be derived which values in which columns are from where (no real inheritance)

No it does not. You would have to look elsewhere for this service.

Issue in bringing up CRS on ATG 10.1.1 with MySQL and Weblogic 10.3

I am trying to bring up Commerce Reference Store as part of my evaluation using MySQL (bundled with ATG) and WebLogic 10.3.
I followed the ATG Documentation on CRS with WebLogic and MySQL and I could not proceed because of the below error log. I keep getting error in OnlineCreateServerInstanceTask of CIM. I believe it should be some configuration problem, but could not think of any.
As part of the installation, I use C:\jdk1.6.0_25. I verified my weblogic server is up through the admin console. I started MySQL before running the eval batch. Apart from starting MySQL server, I did not make any datasource/database configuration changes for ATG. I have not run any other scripts to configure MySQL too.
Please guide me to resolve the problem.

This error is resolved after following the logs in C:\ATG\ATG10.1.1\CIM\log\cim.log. The root cause is I used http as protocol instead of t3 while specifying weblogic admin url.

ATG with Endeca SEO and Sitemap

Hi,
We are working on ATG 10.2 with Endeca 3.1.2 integration. It would be grateful if someone provides pros and cons of using Endeca SEO and Sitemap for this requirement. We do feel that ATG out of box is not providing any API for integrating Endeca SEO and we need to recreate the whole Endeca SEO framework in ATG. Please provide inputs. We are working on multisite feature with ATG where Endeca has language based MDEX for each country.

This has been done on a few projects, but if you wait for the upcoming version 11 releases of ATG and Endeca (probably in a week or two), you'll see that CRS now includes extensive use of the Endeca SEO modules.

We checked the physical location of forge output and found that there is no file called 'ATGSample.dimensions.xml '

I've seen this type of error before when Forge is configured to read multiple files with spec *.xml. Is that how you've configured your record adapter? This configuration then collides with Forge XML config files merged into the same data/processing directory.
From memory there's a couple of solutions for this - one might be to give the files a common name prefix if that's feasible, e.g. _data*.xml. You could use a sub-directory to separate the files, but you'd need to modify your copy scripts.

Session in ATG

For what functionality session is used in ATG, i.e what is the use of session in ATG. and how is it achieved in ATG????

Repository transient properties are session scoped . the values stored in Transient Properties are available only till a particular session exists. Once the session has expired all the transient properties values will be gone.
When and why are transient properties should be used.???
Why cant we use HttpSession session=session = request.getSession(true); instead of transient properties????
By default the transient property values are not stored in session but stored in the repository item level caches. Even if you disable the caching for an item, ATG internally caches its property values during a transaction.
We access repository properties through RepositoryItem object instances and for any given item-descriptor in a repository there can be many RepositoryItem objects each having its own state (property values). So same property (transient or persistent) can have same or different value as the RepositoryItem object instance is going to be different. Now imagine if a transient property value was stored in session then how it would handle the different values for a given transient property for different items within a same session unless that property holds something session specific.
Having said this you must also know that there are couple of custom property descriptor classes provided OOTB: atg.repository.SessionPropertyDescriptor and atg.repository.SessionEnumPropertyDescriptor each of which uses HttpSession to store property values. So if your transient property is declared with the property-type attribute specifying any of these custom property descriptor classes then only that property value would be stored as a session attribute. Also note that you would have to pass the session attribute name from your repository definition something like below:

<property name="myProperty" data-type="string" property-type="atg.repository.SessionPropertyDescriptor" ...>
    <attribute name="sessionAttributeName" value="myProp"/>

</item-descriptor>
I don't remember exactly from which version but SessionPropertyDescriptor has now been deprecated so if you plan to use it you have to do it at your own risk. The other class SessionEnumPropertyDescriptor can be used only for enumerated proeprties and is used in the securityStatus property of user profile. Refer this

Does cookie play a role in ATG for maintaining session.   Profile and Order data is stored in cookies right???
Whenever a request comes in without a session-id in the cookie or in the URL, the application server would create a new session for the particular web-app that is being requested. And like any typical web-app ATG also uses cookies to recognize a returning user. ATG uses cookies for different scenarios like identifying anonymous users on subsequent visits, auto-login for registered users, if a user is automatically logged in and if there were any items in his cart in the previous visit then load them back to the current cart etc. Of course there some configuration changes required to get these scenarios working in ATG.
Remember cookies can be blocked or deleted by the user so why would you store any important data in them? Cookies store a small piece of information (usually an id) which browser can send to the server with every request and they do not hold any explicit profile or order data.

java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: atg.j2ee.jndi.SerialInitContextFactory
Can you please tell me in which ATG jar can i find this class.

It's a problem with the antlr lib that also exist in weblogic.
You can configure the class loader search order:
Add a file META-INF/weblogic-application.xml in your EAR:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>

<weblogic-application>
     <prefer-application-packages>
           <package-name>antlr.*</package-name>
     </prefer-application-packages>
</weblogic-application>You must provide the antlr lib within the EAR.
Should be ok after that....

Preview issue in ATG-Endeca integration case of CRS at Endeca side

I'm using ATG 10.1.2 and Endeca with Experiece Manager 3.1.1, both are the most current version coming out at the begining of this new year 2013.
I followed the documents and deployed the Commerce Reference Store (Known as CRS) with option of Endeca integration. Now everything seemed to be ok, and at Endeca side, we could find deployed application of "CRS", and also we could find pages configured in Experience Manager.
But problems come unexpectly. I just configured the preview fuction for both ATG and Endeca. According to CIM, I believe I've configured them correctly, because I got the result that Preview function acts normal at ATG side with BCC. However, once I try to use preview function at Endeca side, firstly a new browser pops up to show the page of CRS, and then a message pops up said: "Error: Your site is not cofigured for Preview correctly. Please contact your administrator."
Why?
And what is the place of log file concerned with this issue could I refer to?

After indicated "ATGProduction" for ear file name to assemble, I entered the menu below:
