ATT Uverse and Mac Mail not sending emails!

I've read through all the other discussion topics pertaining to this and tried them all, adding and deleting accounts, setting up my account preferences according to the Uverse help page but nothing seems to work. I can receive emails fine but sending emails doesn't work any more. We just had Uverse installed less than 24 hours ago and ATT tech support won't help me out unless I pay $50! Are you kidding me? Because Mac Mail is a 3rd party app they won't help me solve this annoying issue, they've told me to just use their web mail program instead. I'm not sure what to do at this point, does anyone have some info that may help me out here?

AT&T U-Verse (uverse), as of July 2014, requires that you verify your non-AT&T mail accounts before they allow you to send outgoing non-AT&T mail.
Here's how to verify your non-AT&T mail accounts and link them to your AT&T U-verse account
https://discussions.apple.com/message/22291865
Log into your AT&T U-verse webmail att.net email account (e.g. Yahoo mail)
> click the gear at upper right of screen next to your name
Navigate to Settings > Accounts > Add
Add your non-AT&T mail accounts/  Enter info they require
U-verse will send a verification email to those mail accounts.
After you reply and verify your identity, you will be able to send outgoing email for those accounts via Mail, so long
as you have Mail configured.

mac mail keeps sending emails from my different accounts even though it says correct email in "sent" folder and correct email account was highlighted. Recipients reply and it goes to different email address. So confusing and annoying.

    Hi Mike,
I had the same issue and managed to solve it.
    Go into Mail>Preferences>Accounts
Then in the account information tab, at the bottom should be outgoing mail server (SMTP) and click the drop down box
Mine had a few different servers in it so i went into edit SMPT server list. Click advanced and it will tell you which ones are going from which email address.
Delete the ones you dont want, and it should work or instead of deleting click use only this server, i imagine that will work to
    Hope This Helps

  • Mac Mail not sending my yahoo emails

Since yesterday, my Mac Mail will not send emails out for my Yahoo smtp email address. This has been set up for almost two years and I did not change anything. I am still receiving my email fine! I'm not getting the normal relay error message I sometimes get with other email accounts. It just sits in outgoing for hours!
    Can anyone help me?

Try opening up a terminal window and telnet to the smtp server's port 25. If that doesn't work, there is probably some firewall issue or you might have mistypyed the name of the smtp server.
The telnet command would look something like ...
    telnet smtp_server 25
If you get a response from the SMTP server, check with your ISP's tech support to verify that you are connecting properly.

  • I just updated my IPad to iOS 5 and now can not send email. The error message says the server rejects the address which is not true Asti sends on my desktop.

I just updated my iPad to iOS 5 and now can't send email- I have tried the obvious but no luck. Any suggestions?

Usually 'authentication required' means that you need to submit a username (or e-mail address) and password to the e-mail server, when sending a message. This logic is not different between Outlook and Thunderbird, and even with the latest and previous version of Thunderbird.
Of course you can try the previous version again to see if it solves the problem, although you'll be less secure because you would be missing the latest fixes.
If you'd be willing to get back to Thunderbird, say if your frustration level with your new app would increase too much, please see our article [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/cannot-send-messages cannot send messages] for further help.
In all other cases I'd appreciate it if you could mark this as answer so we know you don't need further help.

  • Mac Mail not downloading emails

Hello. My mac mail is not working. It appears to be an issue with the Exchange 2007 server. The only way I can access my emails is via Thunderbird (which stinks). Neither Mac Mail nor Outlook will download my emails.
Connection Doctor status: Mail was able to connect to the internet.
I see that this is a common problem for many other folks. Has this issue ever been solved? I have spent a considerable amount of time on forums, talking to Apple Support, and Google searching -- no luck finding a solution. Its very frustrating -- I am using Thunderbird to get me by for now. I have a new Mac, Lion 10.7.4.
    Help!! Thanks.

I have another computer with the same email account and it works fine
Finally I unchecked use SSL and The account can now send emails.

  • Tiger Mail Not Sending Emails

It USED to work ... but the mail feature for Tiger is no longer sending emails (but it DOES recieve them).
The Error Message is as follows:
This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered.
The connection to the server "smtp.mac.com" on port 25 timed out.
    Can someone help me?
    Cheers,
    ne@nher@.

Who is your internet service provider (ISP) use for connecting to the internet?
This error message indicates your ISP is blocking the use of SMTP servers outside of their network on Port 25. Since using the .Mac SMTP server on Port 25 worked previously, this may be a recent change implemented by your ISP.
Within the last year, SBC implemented such a change and conveniently neglected to inform their customers beforehand so your ISP may have done the same.
    Something to try.
Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and under the Account Information tab for your .Mac account preferences at the SMTP server selection, select the Server Settings button below.
At the Server Port field, enter 587 in place of 25 in the space provided. When finished, select OK to save the changed setting.
Check if this resolves the problem.
If not and you are also accessing an email account and SMTP server provided by your ISP, select/use your ISP's SMTP server to send mail with your .Mac account which is done under the Account Information tab for the account preferences via the pop-up menu next to the SMTP server currently selected for the account.
This is invisible to all recipients and should allow you to send mail with your .Mac account while calling your ISP to check on any recent changes implemented on the use of an SMTP server not provided by your ISP and outside of their network.

That is the name of the server, it is not the settings for the server, those are linked to below, if your settings are different your mail won't work correctly

  • TS3276 Hotmail on Mac Mail not sending attachments

I have my hotmail account set up with Mac Mail. I can send & receive emails without any problems, however as soon as I attach anything (small or large) it will not send. The same attachments will send fine if I log onto Hotmail through Safari/chrome. This has only been happening in the last week or so.
What do I need to do?

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Log out and log back in. Launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Post your results.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Mail not sending email

I'm having some problems with sending email through Mail. It sends fine when I use .mac on the apple website, but when I use Mail it won't send it at all. I can still receive mail, but can't send it. I've been using Mail for years and have never had this problem. Any ideas?

Problem solved... I just restarted the computer... Should've tried that first.

  • Mac Mail not sending from correct account.

I constantly use Mail to send and receive emails on my MacBook.
On it I have three email 'accounts' - my me.com address (for formal emails to work, banks etc.), my "junk" address (for spam, gaming etc.) and my "home" address (for personal emails and everything else).
When typing an email, if I choose to send it from a different account than the one I originally selected, I can just change it in the 'From' pop-down menu (under the 'To', 'Cc', 'Bcc' and 'Subject' fields).
Recently though, for some reason when I want to send an email from my "home" address, it sends it from my "junk"one instead, even if I am sending it 'From' my "home" address.
It still has my "home" address' signature, and not every time it does send from my "junk" one instead - rather it seems to send from both as it feels up to.
This bothers me quite a bit, especially when I send an important email using my "home" address but it sends from my "junk" - both confusing and annoying me and the recipients.
This only just started happening to me this past week. Does anyone else have the same issue, and any help would be greatly appreciated

Some mail servers such as gmail will change the address when sending from one account through another account's server.
Go into Mail's preferences under Accounts. Highlight each account and make sure the correct outgoing server is listed for that account with the correct user name and password. Each account should have their own. Check the box to use only that server with that account. Do this for all accounts.
If you don't check the box and the server fails, it will move on to the next one in the list. Then you will get the address from that server even though you're sending from a different account.
If the server does fail, you will get a selection box to try again or select another server.
