Attachment for completed Instance
Hi All,
I have a dirty requirement where I have to attach documents to completed instances.I tried in studio , it allows me to do so from the attachment section. But I have to this through code and not use the product feature.I have to enter the instance number and attach files from a presentation to a completed instance.Does anybody has an idea as how can i implement this? :(
Kind Regards,
Ritu S.
Hi Ritu,
You can see in chain messages how to hold instance for your requirement. But I don't think its a viable way since BPM objects might be holding large data in your case. Best way is to make lead aware of the same and let him take the decision of fulflling the requirement.
One case to handle the above case:
1. Add automatic activity before "End" transition and a due transition from this activity to "End".
2. Before reaching the instance to this automatic activity, set all instance variables to "Null". It will in turn will not have impact on BPM Engine DB.
3. Use notification and wait activity to add "Attachment" for the instance and at the same time, set the due transition value to "0s".
Now, it will be upto you to decide as per requirement, when you need to complete the instance. This thing can also be put up to the client so that the due transition value can be set accordingly.
Regards,
Abhishek

PAPI-Add/Delete/Retrieve BPM Instance's data and attachment for an instance
Could you please me tell me how to Add/Delete/Retrieve BPM instance's data and attachment for a new as well as running instance using PAPI. Is it possible to have
a sample code.
Thanks,
Ben.Hi Ben,
Start with this thread that shows you how to create a new work item instance in a process and pass in input argument variables to the new instance as it is created:

Here's a thread that shows
1. how to run an activity in the process and pass in arguments using the "runActivity()" method,
2. How to run a Global activity and pass in arguments (runGlobal() and
3. How to send in a notificationto a notificationWait activity using the "sendNotificationInstance()" method:

Finally, you can use the session.instanceAttach() method to attach a file to an instance.
Hope this helps,

Availability of old instances in BPEL, and completed instances in worklista
Hi All
How log does BPEL store the completed instances?
Are they purged automatically, after a set interval of time?
If my process contains a human activity, and a person has say already approved the instance from worklist app, he can still get hold of that instance by filtering for 'COMPLETED' instances. Will this list all the completed instances that he had worked on, even years old?
THanks
SAtinderThanks Mihai
Does it mean that if the admin user does not purge instances specifically, the uses will continue to find them by querying for completed instances in their worklist (when they have already taken action for their human task, and when the related BPEL instance is finished)?
Thanks

Correlation Id and completed instances
Hi,
when you try to create a workflow instance using the same correlation/business id of another instance, you get, of course, an exception. But is it only for running instances or also for completed instances? Meaning, if there is one instance with a correlation id of 1234, which is already completed, can I create a new instance with same instance id?
Thanks&Regards
MatthiasHi,
In the aromatic activity also you can set the Correlation ID.
Please write the following code inside the automatic activity.
Correlation.initiate(name : <Unique_ID>, values : {<your_actual_value>});
As Dan suggested terminate the Correlation id after completing the process by using the following code.
Correlation.terminate(name : <Unique_ID>)

Archiving Options for BPEL Instances, Comments and Attachments.
Hi
We have a SOA11g BPEL and Human Tasks custom application running for past one and half year, and we have lot of instances completed in the BPEL flow.
Are they any default options in SOA Suite where the instances get archived after specific period? If not what are the options to archive the Completed instance and respective Comments and Attachments. And to view them when required from the BPM worklist application.
Thanks
KumarHi,
This somewhat date back to the way iChat's Saved Chats were once Stored.
At iChat 5 (in Snow Leopard) you could choose to see the last chat - (when opening an new chat with a person you had chatted with before) or parts of the Last Chat in terms of the Last so many IMs.
Example Pic of iChat 5's Prefs
Since then the management choices of the Save Chats has changed in both iChat 6 and Messages.
Messages stores Chats two ways if they are iMessages.
You can elect to Save them in Messages > Preferences > Messages.
It also store the chat.db and other databases items which includes the Attachment items
The chat.db is the bit that fill in the "history" if you iMessage the same person even if you are not saving the Chat in a formal sense in the App's Preferences.
This is irrespective if your delete the Conversation from the Messages main window.
How big these Databases get obviously depends on your iMessages usage.
Striker's link seems to be about a similar issue on an iPhone (I presume it transfers to other iOS devices) but I am not sure that it is relevant in this situation.
Edit.
I should have been clear that you cannot change the database behaviour.

Hello folks,
I am looking for best practices advice when (1) creating
custom components and (2) styling and skinning.
I already know how to skin a component part of the Flex
framework. I can make a class extending ProgrammaticSkin and have
my component skinned using CSS to link the component with the
reference to my custom class.
However what about those cases when you are completely
creating a component from scratch?
Imagine a "Freehand Drawing Canvas" component that allows the
user to draw on it and has some buttons to set color styles, line
styles, etc., or imagine a "Screen Flow Gallery" component that
displays visual objects in a fashion similar to Cover Flow in the
Mac.
In many components I am aware you may reuse other components
part of the Flex framework but I am trying to picture an scenario
where you would need to draw everything yourself because there just
isn't something to base it upon so you will end up drawing it from
scratch.
To learn how instead of building one of those components I
mentioned previously I decided to start with something simple that
would illustrate this like a LiteButton component that will behave
just like the Flex mx.controls.Button but will extend UIComponent
and be completely custom drawn.
The component will have a default look and will also be
style-able and skin-able. I will provide styles for users of the
component to modify and regarding skinning anyone can create a
custom ProgrammaticSkin adding its own drawing logic and link it to
the component via CSS with the ClassReference applied to the skin
selector.
So far so good and it's clear what I want to achieve. I
actually know how to do most of the stuff here but I have one
single problem.
Here is my question, where should I put my custom drawing
logic? If I do it in the updateDisplayList inside the class
extending UIComponent it works, however I thought that it would be
a better practice to do it using programmatic skins, that way I
could provide different skin themes for my component set.
The problem is that I can't make the programmatic work in
this scenario. I tried instantiating the custom programmatic skin
during the updateDisplayList of the LiteButton component and adding
it to my display object via addChild but that didn't do anything. I
also tried creating a "default.css" stylesheet and tried to use
ClassReference as I would normally do to skin an already existing
component (or composite component as well) but that didn't do
anything either.
So how do I apply programmatic skins for completely custom
drawn components of my Flex library project?
I could do it inside the updateDisplayList of the LiteButton
class extending UIComponent but again I would like to provide
different theme sets for my components so it makes sense using
programmatic skins."jbucaran" <[email protected]> wrote in

This may help with that

These aren't mutually exclusive. When you provide a skin with
a
TypeSelector, you have to add it to the display list
somewhere, and this is
typically done in updateDisplayList or addChildren. I prefer
to do it in
updateDisplayList, because you can then change it if the
style changes.

Exactly what did you do?

I've never had any problem using an approach similar to
this...but I will
say that I couldn't see any advantage in creating a
default.css style sheet,
since it's not really default in the way that the one that
comes with Flex
is. It's much more obvious to anyone using your component
what's going on
there if you create a style sheet where they're likely to
spot it.

It seems like your approach is fine, but maybe you've made a
mistake in your
implementation.

You might want to consider also adding an instance of
HaloBorder to your
component. That brings a lot of functionality with it.

How to count Number of completed instances
Hi all,
I have one issue regarding *"How to Count Completed instances"* in SOA...
How can i count the number of completed instances for a interface...Any idea or suggestion plzzzzzz....
Thanks,
RajHi Dariel Pérez ,
By executing the Querey I'm able to get the State and num_cube instances but when I call this Query in BPEL by using DB adapter I get the following error
BINDING.JCA-12563 Exception occured when binding was invoked. Exception occured during invocation of JCA binding: “JCA Binding execute of Reference operation ‘CountReq’ failed due to: Pure SQL Exception. Pure SQL Execute of SELECT (CASE WHEN STATE=1 THEN ‘OPEN AND RUNNING’ WHEN STATE=2 THEN ‘OPEN AND SUSPENDED’ WHEN STATE=3 THEN ‘OPEN AND FAULTED’ WHEN STATE=4 THEN ‘CLOSED AND PENDING’ WHEN STATE=5 THEN ‘CLOSED AND COMPLETED’ WHEN STATE=6 THEN ‘CLOSED AND FAUTED’ WHEN STATE=7 THEN ‘CLOSED AND CANCELLED’ WHEN STATE=8 THEN ‘CLOSED AND ABORTED’ WHEN STATE=9 THEN ‘CLOSED AND STALE’ WHEN STATE=10 THEN ‘NON-RECOVERABLE’ ELSE STATE || ” END) AS STATE, COUNT(*) AS NUM_OF_CUBE_INST FROM CUBE_INSTANCE GROUP BY STATE; failed. Caused by java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-00911: invalid character . The Pure SQL option is for border use cases only and provides simple yet minimal functionality. Possibly try the “Perform an operation on a table” option instead. This exception is considered not retriable, likely due to a modelling mistake. To classify it as retriable instead add property nonRetriableErrorCodes with value “-911″ to your deployment descriptor (i.e. weblogic-ra.xml). To auto retry a retriable fault set these composite.xml properties for this invoke: jca.retry.interval, jca.retry.count, and jca.retry.backoff. All properties are integers. “. The invoked JCA adapter raised a resource exception. Please examine the above error message carefully to determine a resolution.
Any Suggetions.
Thanks

Agent issue with 10.2.0.4 on RHEL 4 for single instance db.
Hi,
I had 2 instances that were not able to upload nor where they secure. For one of them which ran on port 5500, I was able to go through the forums and basically I ended up dropping the repository for that instance, and then I was able to secure the agent, and uploads were fine. Now I have one single instance that runs on port 1158:

EMD upload error: uploadXMLFiles skipped :: OMS version not checked yet..
So, with this one instance and agent, I keep going in loops with the same 2 errors:
1. EMD upload error: uploadXMLFiles skipped :: OMS version not checked yet..
2. The OMS is not set up for Enterprise Manager Security.
I even followed related messages on the forums here to try to resolve the issue, but this did not work:
'- emctl stop agent
- delete all files in $AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd/upload and $AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd/state
- emctl clearstate agent (this should delete all state files but sometimes it is not enough, but I experienced that it is better to use this command after deletion of the files)
- emctl secure agent (and specify the password on demand)
- emctl start agent'
Any advice or help on HOW to secure this instance's agent and get it to upload would be greatly appreciated.

I guess I solved my own issue, however I basically had to drop and recreate the repository and grid control for the instance, thus loosing over 3300 XML files, but now the agent is working and the server is running secure. I simply did:
emca -config dbcontrol db -repos recreate
And answered all the questions... I am wondering if the 3300+ xml files I deleted by following some guy's response in a similar thread was necessary, and if it was not, I wonder if I would have been able to upload all of the files after executing and rebuilding....Since you have dropped the repository thats why it was needed to deleted the previous files

Multiple port for one instance
hello there,
Here is my requirement...
If one of my master ldap went down for couple of hours and when i bring it up... all the arrowpoint traffic is routed immediately to this server and hence whatever changes happend in the secondary server was not showing up immediately in this primary master server. To avoid this issue.. can i use a different port for replication only and once the replication is completed , then i want to allow the client to access the main port.
Is it possible? Any idea? Thank you for anyone input.
SS1. EITHER multi-home your network card so that it has multiple IP addresses
Launch each instance of ldap with the commandline option to bind this instance to a particular IP address
2. OR provide alternate ports for each instance of ldap
This is easier to do . However, it is not recommended for production systems. Usually used in development.
If the scenario is production environment use first method.
If it is a development environment try the second.
See the port properties. Check the ldap port settings.
NOTE: ldap has a known bug. To fix this get into sun site. This bug is fixed.
Thanks

Patchset Update for every Instance neccessary??? Urgent!
Dear experts!
I am running a server with Oracle v.10.2.0.1.0 and 4 database instances. Today I installed the Patchset Update for version 10.2.0.5.0.
After the runInstaller routine completed, I logged into one of these instances and ran the catupgr.sql followed by the utlrp.sql script.
My question to you is if I have to run these scripts for every instance seperately to upgrade sys and system schemas to v.10.2.0.5.0?
It is really urgent as I'll have to get back to work tomorrow. The systems need to run on Monday!
I appreciate your help! Many thanks in advance for clarifying the necessary steps! I'lll keep you updated on how things go!
Best regards,

Yes, you will need to run the scripts on each database that uses this ORACLE_HOME. The steps are outlined in the README for 10.2.0.5 patch.

Failed to send start signal for complete cluster, SLD may still be stopped.
Hello,
I am trying to create technical systems in the SLD on the portal (http://host:port/sld). It prompts me to start the SLD server by going to Administration.
When I click the button "Start Server" under Administration, I get this following error message:
"Failed to send start signal for complete cluster, SLD may still be stopped on other cluster nodes."
Can you please tell me what has to be done to successfully start the SLD server so that I can go ahead and add technical systems.
Thanks

I checked MMC. There is only one instance running.
Here is the structure in MMC.

# ln -s /etc/init.d/dbora /etc/rc.d/rc3.d/S99dbora
# ln -s /etc/init.d/dbora /etc/rc.d/rc5.d/K01dbora
# ln -s /etc/init.d/dbora /etc/rc.d/rc5.d/S99dbora
nothing worked
if you will attach me any files
my mail is :
[email protected]
thanks much
AhmedHi,
The /etc/oratab should have an entry for this database with 'Y' in the last field as:
Oracle_sid: Oracle_Home:Y, so when dbstart command issued it will check the oratab and starts the database.
I advise you to keep the dbstart and dbshut in different scripts and save them directly in the runlevel directories, instead of creating links.
thanks

Service names for db. instance.
When I display status for listener
I can see two services for one instance,
but when I select service_names from v$parameter view
there is just one there. Can someone tell me how is it possible?
Thanks for advice,
M.Not sure to understand you. Do you mean that this entry

(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=localhost)(PORT=49536))shouldn't be there ? Well, actually the behaviour is different from 10.1 (and 9i) :

SYS@test10 SQL> show parameter dispatchers
