Attachments and PDAs?

I use Mac Mail and am told by PDA users (and important business associates)that when they get my emails no attachments come through to their PDAs. I have tried plain text vs. RTF. I have tried clicking to make the email attachments Windows compatible. Nothing solves the problem. Can anyone help with tips on how to fix this?

You send him a test .txt file (with extenstion intact) containing a few words and confirm that he gets it okay. Anything different to a PDF and very basic will do though.
You also politely request that he check his email using an email client and not his PDA if possible to confirm if it is an email problem or a PDA problem.
You could even go one step further and send him the same emails from a Windows email client and see what happens.
If all else fails though, hand deliver the document over a cup of coffee and run him through it personally (that's more likely to get his business!).

Just guessing at what you mean, try this:
In Mail, while composing a message, go to Mail's menu and click:
Edit > Attachments > Always send Windows-friendly attachments

Problem with attachments and antivirus.scanners

Hi!
Problem is: Sending any attachment from Tiger (10.4.8) mail, all attachments are removed by a virus scanner at receiving end:

Tried Windows friendly, text only, repair permissions, sending under other isp etc. no help.
If this same message with same attachment is send from next mac with Panther, it is received ok.
Receiving company is big and wont alter their virus-scanners and the problem clearly lies in Tiger.
Any help welcome.

The subject of your message should have been "Problems with attachments and F-Secure antivirus" since this is not a problem with all antivirus software, only with F-Secure.
Check this thread for a possible temporary solution when sending attachments to those who use F-Secure.

Mail attachments and forwarding as attachments

Since upgrading to Yosimite 10.10.1 Mail will not work with attachments saying that it cannot find the downloads folder. If you forward as an attachment the icon is not in mail format or recognised.

Open Mail.app, make sure you see the Message Viewer window.
Click on the menu Edit > Attachments and enable
- Always send windows-friendly attachments
- Always insert attachment at the end of the message.
Outlook is not good at showing embedded media content from Mail.app. It likes to have them, where it's expecting them - at the end of a message.
A hint: Make sure you have at least a part of your message (for example your signature) typed before you attach a file to a message. This is because of a small issue when attaching mails at the end of a message: If you have nothing typed, there is no end to attach to. It will fail.

You are welcome. Just finished a chat session with an Apple support rep and confirmed the matte option no longer available. Seems lots has changed since I bought my 17” 19 months back:). They did say that there were after market screen films available from places like amazon
Have never used anything like that though. My wife has a 2008 MBP 15” with gloss and I can say it is a nice screen finish, you just have to be careful of lighting from behind you. All my iMacs were glossy and I did learn to compensate for the added brilliance the screen brought to the photos. The new soft proofing feature of LR5 seems to better estimate the level of brightness of the printed work, compared to past versions of the s/ware.
In any case, in my opinion you really can’t go wrong with the apple product. I bought my first iMac in mid 1999 and have never looked back. I donated that machine to a pre-school in 2008, it was running OSX version 2 or 3 I think. I did run Photoshop 7.0 on an IBM laptop for a time (windows XP). I think I had one of the very first versions of Adobe Camera Raw on that machine. I digress, sorry.
The chat representative did confirm that the 17” is out of production and I’m guessing Apple found the market for the big laptop just wasn’t there. They did mention that 17” MBP’s show up as “certified refurbished” units from time to time. Suggest you might explore that option with a local Apple store in the UK, assuming Apple has store front operations off this continent of course.

BPM Process Spaces: Attachments and Comments issue

Hi,
I've integrated BPM Process Spaces with WebCenter Spaces. When I'm trying to initiate a Process and send comments and attachment, the values for them is not passed from step to another. For example, if user A initiate a task with comments and attachments and send it to user B; user B can't see the comments and attachments from user A.
I searched the internet and I found conflict answers, some answers are saying that comments and attachments are not supported and others are saying it's working.
Can please someone give me a definitive answer and the configuration required if any?
Also can someone give me a definitive answer about how to configure BPM to store attachment in UCM?
This is urgent as I'm preparing a customer POC next week.

after some investigations I found the following:
- Users can attach documents and provide comments on task level from the task details page. The attachments and comments will only be available for this specific task but not on the process level.
- Users can attach documents and provide comments on Process level from the Process Tracking page-> Audit Trail part. The attachments and comments will available for all the tasks in the process
- in BPM 11.1.1.5 Features Pack. Integration with UCM has been developed and also comments and attachments can be defined as Task level or Process level when ever the user want to provide one.

I develop a process with oracle bpm. this process have some activities that send attachments and comments together. my question is that where do save this attachments and comments? in database or file system? which table or which directory? i use default attachments and comments in HumanTasks.I hve to understand this files where do save, because i have to save this in my DB and use this in other processes.
can anybody help me?

This really depends, both approaches file/database works. If it was me then I would use the file system. Make sure this file system is mounted for clustering. This can be any directory you want.
The database is another option, but has more maintenance overhead. In my experience especially as you use attachment using file base performs better (as long if your hard disc is of reasonable standard)

XMAM3.0 Laptop and PDA together

Hallo there!
We are facing a problem with the 2 Versions of xMAM3.0 SR4. There is a version for Laptop and one for PDA. What are the differences? i.e. filesize is identical?!?
Some employees in our company will use xMAM on a laptop and others on a PDA. So we need both versions deployed. SAP note #1046823 says:
"MAM 3.0 laptop and handheld UIs can not function correctly when both deployed on the same MI installation."
What exactly does that mean? Do we need 2 MI installations on 2 middlewares? Or does it mean, that we can't deploy the 2 versions (Laptop/PDA) on one MI client instance?

The difference as far as my knowledge goes is only w.r.t the UI and nothing in the underlying architecture. The laptop version makes use of the large screen available which was not to be the case in earlier versions. The UI has been developed taking into account the SAP UI guidelines.
What the note says is that you cannot have both laptop and pda version installed on one client. You wouldnt require 2 middlewares but just that one MI Client(say laptop) can only have laptop version of MAM installed on it and cannot have PDA version installed on it as well. So if you have laptop, just install laptop version and on PDA just install PDA version.

We would like to upload File attachments or create Hyperlinks for a reference object in batch - an equipment using transaction IE02 or a functional location IL02. We have already tried creating an LSMW for this however attachments and hyperlinks are deactivated using the LSMW functionality.

I guess you are trying to attach the Hyperlink and documents for individual objects through the generic object services(GOS).If thats the case the standard Generic object services does not support background process and hence the unavailability of the same in LSMW.
However you can create a separate custom program to create attachments to individual objects using the class and Methods associated with Generic object services (GOS).
The Method that you would need to use is "CL_BINARY_RELATION=>CREATE_LINK" associated to class "CL_BINARY_RELATION ". There are sample codes available in ABAP development forum to do exactly the same.

Whenever I forward mails I get only the subject line as forward All attachments and text is blank

I am currently using Windows 7 - 64 bit as my operating system. Previously this was not the case. But after I changed my operating system, problem started in forwarding my mails. Whenever I forward my mails, Only the subject line is filled. All the text, attachments and pictures from original mail are not carried alongwith.

Close out of the camera app, double tap the home button and completely close out of the app.
Then do a reset, no data loss. Hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.
Then check your camera roll again.

Attachments and Views

Hi,
I realize that one is unable to upload an attachment to a PDF form. This is a major issue for me since I would like users to fill out applications and they have to be able to upload attachments and press submit so it comes to the Forms Central response page. Is this a feature that will ever be offered and if so, can you give me an idea of when?
Also, I need to print out the form as the form looks when I designed it. Is this a feature that will ever be offered and if so, can you give me an idea of when?
I have seen others ask these questions, but never saw the responses.
Without these two features, Adobe Forms Central is much less useful to me.

Supporting attachments in PDF is something we plan to do in the future (likely next year).
In a few weeks we'll be releasing a feature that allows you to save a response as a PDF file (it retains the original form's layout with the data flowed into it). This can be printed. Though any attachments won't be saved into the PDF, they have to be exported separately.
Attachments do work with web forms. Can you provide a little detail on why web forms won't work for your workflow?

Attachments and forums

I am having an issue with attachments and forums. When I go to attach something to an email, or in a forum or open up an add picture part in Facebook.com, the button is basically disabled. It does not pop up or even allow me to attach anything. Also, with forums, when I click in the text area, it just selections the entire area and will not allow me to type. I can cut and it gives the option to paste but will not paste anything. If I click in the text area more than three times, the entire browser freezes and the only way i can close out is press the back button. When I go back onto the browser again, the page is blank and I have to resign in.
Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

The interface for adding pictures at facebook.com will not work on the iPad (e.g., it wants to open a file select dialog for upload to Facebook). There is an iPhone/iPod Touch App for Facebook, you might investigate that. You could also investigate uploading pictures to Photobucket with the Photobucket App and including links to your picture on Facebook.
However, I don't completely understand your explanations. I have no problems copying, cutting and pasting in Facebook forums. You might want to break this up into individual problems with a clearer explanation. Are all your problems just with Facebook email and forums?
