"Attribute Only" InfoObject in a DSO

Hi All,
I have a infoobject as a data field in a DSO. This infoocject is marked as "attribute only"
If i am displaying the data in new / active table, i am able to see this field and the corresponding data.
But if i am displaying the data through 'manage' i am not even gettinig this field in the field selection tab and this field is not getting displayed in the output
If i try to make a query over this DSO then also i am not getting this object in the query designer.
Is it because this particular object is "attribute only" or can there be any other reason?
please help me solve this.

Hi Abishek,
If you check an object as attribute only characteristic can be used only as a display attribute for another characteristic.. You can include the object in DSO..but it wont be visible in transformation for mapping..
Check in where used list to identify the master data object for which it is an attribute.. If the master data object is available in your DSO.. you can use display attr in report..
that is.. if xxx is an object -'attribute only'.. YYY is a master data wit xxx as display attribute... IF YYY is available in DSO, use display attribute YYY_XXX in report
or
If you want the 'attribute only' object to be updated from transaction data.. uncheck 'attribute only' indicator and use it in report..

How to add an infoobject to a DSO,on which an infoset is build.
In general common infoobjects can be for reporting purpose right?
Do I need to add the new infoobject in all the DSOs.My infoset consists of 6 DSOs.
If my concept is wrong.what is the correct method of extracting infoobjects from DSOs to Infoset.

Hi,
You need to add these two fields in the DSO only. Make sure that you are mapping these two fields in the transformation. After that, drop the data and reload the DSO. Then make changes to the infoset.
By Component, what I mean:
I'll take your example only...
Say, for Material_Group, this data is not coming to DSo data Source. In this case, even if you will add this object to your DSO, you wont be able to map this in the transformation as R3 filed is not available. Ultimately, you wont be able to load data for this. So, its worthless.
But, you have a master data called 0Material. and Material_Group is an attribute of this 0Material.In this case, you will add 0Material to the infoset directly, as a component of infoset(from the tab infoobject), and you will select Material group. In this way, we generally aceess the master data attributes.

ODS attribute only Problem

Hi,
I have a ODS which had a infoobject with attribute only status. To be able use this in Bex this attribute only status has been disabled.
Now while transporting the request I am getting the error - generate new SIDs for this characteristic in the ODS.
Will I have to delete all the data and upload data back again?

Read the below :
If you mark the characteristic as an exclusive attribute, it can only be used as a display attribute for another characteristic, but not as an navigation attribute.
In addition, the characteristic cannot be transferred into InfoCubes.
However, it can be used in ODS objects, InfoSets and characteristics as InfoProviders. In queries using these InfoProviders the characteristic can only be changed as a display attribute.
For information about generating SIDs for characteristics see Table of Master Data IDs.

Use
In InfoCubes and in aggregates, so-called master data IDs (SIDs), rather than characteristic values, are saved directly. In the SID table, there is a master data ID for every characteristic value. The OLAP processor also works internally only with the SIDs and not with characteristic values.

In the following cases SIDs are generated for M1:
Loading of master data for M1
Loading of texts for M1
Loading of master data for a characteristic that has M1 as a navigation attribute

Loading of InfoCube data with the option of generating master data
Deactivation of the property exclusive attribute for characteristic M1, if M1 is used in ODS Objects that are released for reporting
In the following cases SIDs for M1 are only generated if M1 is not exclusive attribute):
Activation of data of an ODS object that is released for reporting and contains M1
Release of an ODS object that contains M1 for reporting
Execution of a query on a characteristic as InfoProvider that contains M1 as an attribute
Execution of a query on an InfoSet that contains M1 (via a characteristic or an ODS object)
Example
The content of the SID table for the characteristic Material could be as follows:

Updating attributes for InfoObject

I am getting below error while trying to load the master data "0MAT_PLANT" using DTP.
" There are duplicates of the data record 1 & with the key ' &' for
characteristic 0MAT_PLANT &. "
Tetted following.
1.vealidated the data in PSA, thers is no duplicate entries.
2.In the DTP monitor, I can see..
   1.Extraction DataSource 0MAT_PLANT_ATTR : Green
   2.Filter Out New Records with the Same Key : Green
   3.RSDS 0MAT_PLANT_ATTR -> IOBJ 0MAT_PLANT : Green
   4.Updating attributes for InfoObject 0MAT_PLANT : Red (falied)
I was performin the data load with only one record eventhough I m agetting this error measge Duplicates entries" , your help on this greatly appericiated..

Hi,
Check if it is full upload from PSA, and check how many PSA request are coming when you pull the data.
Might be in other request in PSA have duplicate entries.
When you pull the data from DTP as Full it will select all the request from PSA..
Check this..

Insert infoobject in the DSO.

Hi Experts,
1.I need to add the infoobect to one of the DSO of the multiprovider. I see the infoobject in the DSO infoobject dropdown list. my question is if i add the infoobject to the DSO, do i have do add it in the extractor as well?
2. In the transfer rules i see my infoobject on the right hand side (assing fied object). Do i have to move to the left side in order to add the infoobject to the extractor? what it mean if the infoobject is on the right hand side in the transfer rules? what it mean if i move the infoobject to the left hand side?

You need to map this new InfoObject to some field of datasource or derive it using some other field.
Ex1: lets say added Calyear as new IO to the ods. In the update rule of ODS you can derive it using caldate.
Ex2: you added doc# to the ODS. you want to populate it using a particular field of the datasource. Adding doc# will make it available only in the ODS. Add this IO to the InfoSource/Communication strucutre. In the transfer rules map this IO the field you want it to be populated from the datasource. In the update rules map this IO to the same IO from InfoSource.
If there is no field in the datasource corresponding to this IO then you need to enhance extractor such that it brings this new field.

Add attributes in InfoObject: DataSource still remember the old structure

I got some problems doing the datasource in SAP-BW.
The situation
- added new attributes in InfoObject-OCRM_PROD
- generated export Data of the InfoObject-0CRM_PROD
got 80CRM_PRODM, 80CRM_PRODH, 80CRM_PRODH
- removed the new attributes just added above since they were incorrect from the InfoObject-0CRM_PROD
- added other new attributes in the InfoObject-0CRM_PROD
- re-generated export Data of the InfoObject-0CRM_PROD
- replicated data source
- in the RSA3 in SAP-BW was able to see the new attributes, but in the InfoSource still recognized the previous structure.
- Therefore, we decided to go to RS02 and removed the InfoSource 80CRM_PRODM only and replicated the DataSource again.
The problems
- when we re-generated export data source this time, there was a message mentioned that the data source was already generated. Unfortunately, we were not able to see the data source 80CRM_PRODM any more. I wonder how to recover this case since it is a standard InfoObject from SAP-BW.
Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Hi WJ,
Goto RSA1 -> Settings (from menu) -> Display generated objects and select the "Show Generated objects" option. Once your Infosource is visible then activate the transfer structure using RS_TRANSTRU_ACTIVATE_ALL.

I soloved the problem. I can input the attribute-only char directly in the text box instead of choosing from list of infoobjects, but I still can't find the char in infoobject selection dialog even using search.

An attribute of an info object cannot be made navigational if the attribute-only flag on the attribute info object has been checked.It will only behave as a display attribute and it cannot be used in design of cube ..but at infoobject level if you run a query it doesnt make difference .
Difference between attribute only flag,navigational and display attributes.

There are some infoobjects which have attribute only unchecked and also With master Data unchecked.
There are some infoobjects which have attribute only checked and with master data unchecked.
They are included as attributes to master data object.
Can you please help in explaining the difference between these objects.

Attribute Only checked:If you set the attribute only indicator for a characteristic, it can only be used as a display attribute for another characteristic and not as a navigation attribute.In addition, the characteristic cannot be included in InfoCubes.
It can be used in DataStore objects, InfoSets and characteristics as InfoProviders. In this InfoProvider, the characteristic is not visible during read access (for example, at runtime). This means that it is not available in the query. If the InfoProvider is being used as the source of a transformation or DTP, the characteristic is not visible.
With master data checked: If this indicator is set, the characteristic has master data. Only then are master data tables generated and the characteristic can have attributes.

Report problem when show attribute only Characteristic text master data

I want to show the attribute only Characteristic in report. In report, it shows "Not assigned" for the Char row, but other data show properly. I checked the Char text master data. It looks fine. I don't what's problem?

hi robert,
some of your characteristics probably don't have the attribute assigned (meaning they have a blank value for that attribute). i don't know if this is configurable, but blank entries all display as '#' and the text 'Not Assigned'.
(as an additional comment, if you take a look at the masterdata of the attribute you used (which i presume exists), there should be a blank entry there.)
for example, in the case of the deletion flag of an article, not all articles are flagged for deletion. if you create a report that displays the article number and the deletion flag attribute, you'll see quite a bunch of 'not assigned'/'X' in your output.

'Attributes only ' won't create any Extra Tables.
If you Create Attributes only, you can't use this IO as Charecterstic or Navigation Attribute to other IO.
You can only use this As Display Attribute.
Assume, Customer Phone No. You don't want to provide Navigation with this. As well as you need only Latest Value. You don't want history of Customer Phone Numbers.
You need to Create Customer Phone no with 'Attributes only' and Assign this to Customer IO. You can't navigate with Phone No in Queries.

None of the attributes are pulled using Open Hub.
For Infocubes, only characteristics in Dimensions along with all Key figures are pulled.
For DSO, all the Key fields and Data fields are pulled.

DataLoad-Problem after adding Nav-Attribute to InfoObject

hi there,
i added a navigational attribute, which i newly created, to an existing infoobject, which had already data loads.
i activated the infoobject and modified the transformationrule to fill the new attribute of the infoobject.
after i activated the transformationrule, i started the infopackage to fill the new attribute.
after the load has finished, i i started a master-data-changerun.
but when i let me show the data in the infoobject, i view only the SID of the infoobject. all other attributes are empty.
i am not using a startroutine in the transformationrule.
when i debug the transformationrule, i can see all values (SIDs and attributes of the infoobject).
i tried the RSRV transaction to check the masterdata of the infoobject, but it shows no errors.
what can i do, to repair the infoobject?
i'm using BI 7.0.

Hi,
First step is the check the data insde P table ( example /BIC/PXXX which will be there in the in master data and text tab)
if you find the data for newely added attributes then it works fine.
or else
Delete the master data
programs for individual IinfoObject master data deletion:
RSDMD_DEL_BACKGROUND or RSDMD_DEL_MASTER_DATA_TEXTS
then delete the transformation and recreate the transformation followed by DTP once again
activate all atributes individually once again
load data to the infoobject and check it.
you should be able to relove the problem

Adding Attribute to Infoobjects

Dear Colleagues,
I a bit confussed to see the result of th following situation:
I have 10 Areas and 100 branches. 1 sales area can have any number of branches (say 3 or 4) and 1 branch can not be assigned to 2 areas.
Now in BW, I will create two seperate infoobjects ZAREA (will load all 10 areas and their description) and ZBRANCH (will load all 100 branches and their description). Now to link these togeher, if I assign ZAREA as a attribute to ZBRANCH, does all the branches which belongs to Area come under that area.
Area 1
   ---> B1
   ---> B2
Area 2
   ---> B3
   ---> B4
   ---> B5

Hi,
You can do either :
Include both characterstics in to the cube.
or
Define the hierarchy on Branch(it becomes leaf) with Slaes areas(it becomes Higher node).
If the extraction structure is able to give both characterstics values for each transaction record , go with first method.
In the second method , you will have only Branch in the transaction data.And you will use flat file to upload the hierarchy
