ATV disconnecting from iTunes v10

For several weeks I experienced the connectivity problems mentioned in:

After trying many techniques to fix the infuriating problem I had success simply by upgrading from 10.5.8 to 10.6. After that it worked perfectly - and other connectivity problems were also cured - but hey presto - the iTunes/ATV connection has ceased to work consistently as a result of 'upgrading' iTunes from 9.2 to 10. I have tried to fix it by re-installing OS 10.6 but, this time, it doesn't help. Needless to say, I am extremely disappointed and wish iTunes 10 hadn't come out . . . . .

It seems to be worse. I tried to uninstall itunes 10, using the method on the apple website, and doing a clean install of itunes 9.2.1. The program installed but would not launch giving the error "cannot launch" briefly because it was installed by a newer version ie itunes 10. So it seems that I am stuck with itunes 10.

I purchased the movie Frozen and every 15 minutes or so it disconnects from itunes which is super frustrating after I spent $25 buying it. How do I fix this?

TS1493 files not visible on ipod nano after disconnect from itunes

I have an iPod Nano (6th generation - 16 Gb) which was purchased in early 2011. All of a sudden all files in all categories (music, audiobooks, podcasts, etc) are no longer visible once it is disconnected from iTunes on my laptop. When reconnected to the laptop the files are visible again in iTunes - so they are still on the device. I have searched the Apple online support info and that only seems to provide complicated and unhelpful information about redesigating hard drive network maps etc., which is an action I am not prepared to risk for fear of making a bad problem worse, or contacting my "administrator" - which is me! Can anyone offer any solutions that don't require a PhD in computer science?

Here are a couple of additional pieces of information that might provide a clue:
1) At home, my iPod shows up as having the name I used when I registered it. On the second computer, my iPod shows up with the name DATA1.
2) I have an iPod 4GB mini. At home, that's pretty much the amount of space that shows up in the disk space bar (near the bottom) of iTunes. However, on the second PC, the disk space bar shows 10.35 GB used, 15.66 GB free! Which is just freaky, since it's still a 4GB iPod mini.
3) According to the iTunes display, everything is transferring absolutely smoothly. Since the iPod is configured to transfer music manually, the Do Not Disconnect sign is flashing throughout, but when I'm done and click on the eject iPod button in the lower right hand corner, it turns off, just the way it's supposed to and I can disconnect my iPod. It's just that my songs aren't visible anywhere on my iPod when I try then to play them.

I recently received a new iPod Classic 120 Gb after the old one's battery died. When i connect the new one to my Macbook Pro and close the lid it disconnects from iTunes (it is still connected, it appears in Finder, just not in iTunes).
I got the latest version of iTunes and the iPod software. This never happened with the old iPod. Is there a fix for this?

Okay guys . I got some goodies up . For those interested:
- 2.6.22.12 kernel with CFS v22, hrtimers, powertop, Reiser4 and default CPU frequency governor 'ondemand'
- iwlwifi 1.1.21
- Authentec fingerprint reader driver
I guess that should get you going pretty much . The iwlwifi drivers have been built out-of-tree since my efforts to merging in the newer mac80211 stack & latest iwlwifi drivers amounted to nothing but a boatload of patch errors :-( (yes i can hack up patches to work but I felt like not doing it, since iwlwifi builds just fine out-of-tree). This kernel is tailored to the 6510 hardware, I cannot tell what is different in the 6170b lineup, but you definitely should not try this kernel on just any machine .
If you have any questions, drop me a line.
Credit of course to waninkoko for his kamikaze patchset, from which most of the patches come.

Csoud1 is correct. But if you still want to keep your iTunes Match subscribed and did not want to sync with your iOS devices, do the following:
On you iOS devices, just go to Setting > Music > disable iTunes Match

ATV dissapears from iTunes

Hey everyone,
I am having a problem with Apple TV in iTunes. After a while, it might be after it syncs, my apple TV will disappear from my devices list in Tunes and I have to restart the app to bring it back. How do I stop this from happening?

Same problem here, Atv dissapears from iTunes ! Still have to close iTunes two times before it actually closes ? Reopening iTunes sometimes showes Atv and sometimes it doesn't ? Any ideas !?

Ipod 7th gen auto disconnects from ITunes

Hi,
I got a new IPod Shuffle for Christmas and every time I connect it to ITunes it auto-disconnects after about 30 seconds- does anyone know how to stop this happening?

I tried putting it in disk mode as you suggested and it's still disconnecting from iTunes right after it syncs.
I was afraid that I would have to do a restore. I have over 13000 songs on my iPod, many that are no longer in my iTunes library. I used to delete my albums off my hard drive after I ripped them off of CD and transferred them to my iPod. I didn't have the hard drive space back then.
This is my dilemma. I'm worried that maybe the iPod is damaged and I won't be able to add my music once I've done the restore. Right now it plays fine, I just can't add or delete any more music. Maybe it's time to buy a new one.

Apple TV Randomly Disconnects From iTunes While Streaming Videos

Hey All,
Anyone having an issue where your Apple TV randomly disconnects from your iTunes on another computer while streaming videos from it? Randomly, on different shows and movies, I have had it do it quite a few times.
In the beginning, after it would disconnect, within a few seconds, it would reconnect to iTunes and then I would have to navigate back to what I was watching and and resume it. Now, it will disconnect, and then I will have to quit iTunes on my iMac and then start it up again.
I am curious if it is an issue with the wireless adapter on the ATV because when it happens, it looks like it losses complete connection with the iTunes and then reconnects to the net only after. Then I would need to restart iTunes on my iMac to continue watching my show.
This was happening before the recent update and continues after the update as well.

That is a possible solution, but I will definitely check with Apple first, hoping it will be a no money solution (I am a grad student, every dollar helps).
My apartment is two rooms, my iMac being in another room, so that wouldn't work. The Wifi extender will probably be my only hope if Apple is not cool with the helping a brother out.

Apple TV's disconnects from itunes

I have 2 apple TV's streaming from my mac mini. Whenever I reboot my iMac into bootcamp both AppleTV's disconnect from the iTunes on the mini. This is very weird because I have nothing pretty much on the bootcamp part that would interfere with it, not even iTunes installed. Anyone have a clue as to what might be causing this? Both ATV's are on wireless N to my Airport Extreme router.

when i go to turn on my ATV, it disconnects from my wifi, then i have to re enter the password which is really annoying. why does it do this?

Ipod touch 2nd gen disconnects from itunes and turns off while syncing

My Ipod touch i try to connect to itunes and sync it with the itunes, but everytime there is a problem. The problem is that every time it gets like maybe 10 - 30 % done syncing the ipod cuts to a black screen and it is gone from itunes window. Also occasionally the usb device is unrecognized and wont turn on for a minute of holding both the power and home buttons.
I have tried these things
1) syncing from a different computer
2) uninstalling itunes and other components
3) Deleting the current firmware and downloading the one of itunes
4) Checked for updates
5) used a different usb port and ports on the back of the computer
6) Restart the services (Apple mobile device ect.)
7) Restarting computer
8) Erase all contents and settings from the ipod but that doesnt work because when it is done it gets stuck on the apple logo with the loading circle but never turns on.
I have no idea what is wrong with my ipod if you have any questions or help post them, and i should get back to you asap.

Ipod nano 1st gen doesn´t work when disconnected from itunes

I can´t do anything, it doesn´t even turn on, only work when connected to itunes, the moment i unplug it from the computer it stops working, please help!

For anyone else having this problem, I found this solution to work. Try this first:
a) Get Windows to restart the drivers:
    - disconnect your USB device and close ITunes
    - connect your USB device
    - if ITunes loads, close it.
b) File explorer:
Open File explorer and browse to
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
In that folder there should be a set of files named "usbaapl64...."
right click on the one ending in "INF"
Select Install. It's very quick.
remove the USB device
c) Restart the computer.
When you login again, load ITunes before you attach your USB device.
d)If you just want to add some photos, songs and movies from computer to your devices, you can use an iTunes alternative to do the job. Hope it helps.
