AUCTIONS example in JDeveloper.

How can I replace username and password in AUCTIONS example with database's username and password. I don't want to check username and password in table CUSTOMERS. I want to identify by user in database like scott/tiger or system/manager if I had granted all auctions' privilage to them.

Hi Frank,
Using subveriosning in Jdeveloper 11g and in the versioning module there exists a topic called "ChangeSet" i.e for Instance doing a modification in one file affecting two or more files in the repository and in this case if we are supposed to Update all the files including the Changing file we can use "Change Set" Concept .But In the Jdeveloper 11g Help Menu,specification about this topic is very less .
Can U Please provide any examples regarding this in Jdeveloper 11g !
Thanks & Regards,
RK

  • EJB 3.0 example in JDeveloper 3

    Hi,
    I'm a brand new Java Developer carefully looking to the new EJB 3.0 standard as well as the new version of JDev (10.1.3.0.4.3673).
    I decided to test some examples and ended up with this one: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/101/tutorials/ejb_30/ejb_30.htm
    When I'm creating the HRAppFacade session bean in this example JDev generates 2 files but only shows one in the Applications Navigator. The remote interface is generated but not shown.
    I only get to see the interface in JDev when I make a difference in the filename between the interface and the bean.
    Is this expected behavior?
    Best Regards,
    Kris

    The application navigator tries to abstract complexities by providing a more high-level view.
    If you actually stand on the bean in the application navigator and look at the structure pane you should see both your files.
    One more thing to check is the system navigator that gives a more "file system" like view of your code.

  • ADF BC : using UI Locale to translate data (Steve M. example 95)

    hi
    In his example 95, Steve Muench suggests an approach to "Change Preferred UI Locale with a Button in the Page".
    I have made some minor modifications to this example, using JDeveloper 10.1.3.3.0, in an attempt to make it work with "translated data".
    (1) I added a bind variable "LanguageBVar" and an attribute "CalculatedTranslatedDnameAttribute" to "DeptView" with this expression:
    nvl(decode(:LanguageBVar, 'en', dname || ' (en)', 'it', dname || ' (it)'), dname || ' (language not supported)')(2) I added this new attribute to the table and the form on TestPage.jspx
    (3) I implemented the executeQuery() method in DeptViewImpl.java like this:
    public class DeptViewImpl extends ViewObjectImpl
         public void executeQuery()
              Locale vLocale = getApplicationModule().getSession().getLocale();
              System.out.println("DeptViewImpl.executeQuery()"
                   + " : getName() = " + getName() + ", vLocale = " + vLocale);
              setLanguageBVar(vLocale.getLanguage());
              super.executeQuery();
    }(4) If I run TestPage.jspx in JDeveloper, my "translated Dname" column shows "translated data" with suffix "(en)".
    (5) If I click on "Italian", all the labels change, but my "translated Dname" column still shows "translated data" with suffix "(en)".
    (6) After that I added a button to execute "DepartmentListIterator" using an "Execute" binding.
    (7) Again, as in (4), I run the page and see the same behaviour and this output on the console:
    DeptViewImpl.executeQuery() : getName() = DeptView, vLocale = en
    DeptViewImpl.executeQuery() : getName() = DepartmentList, vLocale = en(8) Again, as in (5), I click on "Italian" and see the same behaviour (no extra output on the console in this step).
    (9) If I click on the "ExecuteDepartmentListIterator" button, no "translated data" changes on the page, although this line is added on the console:
    DeptViewImpl.executeQuery() : getName() = DepartmentList, vLocale = itThe modified version of this application, as described here, is available at (check README.txt):
    http://verveja.footsteps.be/~verveja/files/oracle/ChangeLanguageInTheUIForData-v0.01.zip
    question:
    How can I make this application show "translated data" when changing the UI Locale, as in step (5).
    However it is important that a solution for this would be as "non-intrusive" as possible because I would like to be able to use it in an application that has lots of translated data and where the user should be able to change his preferred language on each page.
    many thanks
    Jan Vervecken

    Thanks for your reply Steve.
    In your updated testbindlocale.zip example, the buttons "Italian" and "Inglese" behave as expected. The "TranslatedDname" column has the correct translated data.
    So, I modified the example in ChangeLanguageInTheUIForData-v0.04.zip, in a similar way an moved up the call to "super.prepareRender(lfContext)" before the check on the Iterator Bindings in the current Binding Container, like this:
      public void prepareRender(LifecycleContext lfContext) {
        App app = (App)ELHelper.get("#{App}");
        Locale preferredLocale = app.getPreferredLocale();
        UIViewRoot uiViewRoot = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getViewRoot();
        System.out.println("CustomFacesPageLifecycle.prepareRender()"
          + " : preferredLocale = " + preferredLocale
          + ", uiViewRoot.getLocale() = " + uiViewRoot.getLocale());
        boolean changedLocale = false;
        if (preferredLocale == null) {
            app.setPreferredLocale(uiViewRoot.getLocale());
        } else {
            if (preferredLocale != uiViewRoot.getLocale()) {
    //        if (!preferredLocale.equals(uiViewRoot.getLocale())) {
                System.out.println("CustomFacesPageLifecycle.prepareRender()"
                  + " : preferredLocale = " + preferredLocale
                  + ", uiViewRoot.getLocale() = " + uiViewRoot.getLocale()
                  + " : different so the Locale has changed");
                uiViewRoot.setLocale(preferredLocale);
                changedLocale = true;
        super.prepareRender(lfContext);
              if (changedLocale)
                   DCBindingContainer vDCBindingContainer =
                        (DCBindingContainer)lfContext.getBindingContainer();
                   ArrayList vIterBindingList = vDCBindingContainer.getIterBindingList();
                   for (Object vIterObject : vIterBindingList)
                        JUIteratorBinding vJUIteratorBinding =
                             (JUIteratorBinding)vIterObject;
                        ViewObject vViewObject = vJUIteratorBinding.getViewObject();
    //                    if (vViewObject.getVariableManager().findVariable("LanguageBVar") != null)
                        if (vViewObject instanceof SessionLocaleBasedVO)
                             System.out.println("CustomFacesPageLifecycle.prepareRender()"
                                  + " : calling executeQuery()"
                                  + " : preferredLocale = " + preferredLocale
                                  + ", uiViewRoot.getLocale() = " + uiViewRoot.getLocale());
                             vViewObject.executeQuery();
      }(h1) If I run TestPage.jspx, my "translated Dname" column shows "translated data" with suffix "(en)" and I see this output on the console:
    DeptViewImpl.executeQueryForCollection() : getName() = DeptView, vParamNV[0] = LanguageBVar, vParamNV[1] = en
    DeptViewImpl.executeQueryForCollection() : getName() = DepartmentList, vParamNV[0] = LanguageBVar, vParamNV[1] = en

    DeptViewImpl.executeQueryForCollection() : getName() = DepartmentList, vParamNV[0] = LanguageBVar, vParamNV[1] = en(h2) If I click on "Italian", my "translated Dname" column shows "translated data" with suffix "(it)" and I see this output added on the console:
    CustomFacesPageLifecycle.prepareRender() : preferredLocale = it, uiViewRoot.getLocale() = en
    CustomFacesPageLifecycle.prepareRender() : preferredLocale = it, uiViewRoot.getLocale() = en : different so the Locale has changed

    CustomFacesPageLifecycle.prepareRender() : calling executeQuery() : preferredLocale = it, uiViewRoot.getLocale() = it
    DeptViewImpl.executeQueryForCollection() : getName() = DepartmentList, vParamNV[0] = LanguageBVar, vParamNV[1] = it(h3) If I click on "Inglese", my "translated Dname" column shows "translated data" with suffix "(en)" and I see this output added on the console:
    CustomFacesPageLifecycle.prepareRender() : preferredLocale = en, uiViewRoot.getLocale() = it
    CustomFacesPageLifecycle.prepareRender() : preferredLocale = en, uiViewRoot.getLocale() = it : different so the Locale has changed

    DeptViewImpl.executeQueryForCollection() : getName() = DepartmentList, vParamNV[0] = LanguageBVar, vParamNV[1] = enSo, this seems to behave similar to your updated testbindlocale.zip example.
    about determining whether the Locale has changed
    Consider this scenario ...
    (i1) Run TestPage.jspx and the "translated Dname" column shows "translated data" with suffix "(en)", the same as in (h1).
    (i2) Select a different row in the table, and click the "Edit Number on AnotherPage" button. This output is added on the console:
    CustomFacesPageLifecycle.prepareRender() : preferredLocale = en, uiViewRoot.getLocale() = en
    CustomFacesPageLifecycle.prepareRender() : preferredLocale = en, uiViewRoot.getLocale() = en
    CustomFacesPageLifecycle.prepareRender() : preferredLocale = en, uiViewRoot.getLocale() = en : different so the Locale has changed
    CustomFacesPageLifecycle.prepareRender() : calling executeQuery() : preferredLocale = en, uiViewRoot.getLocale() = en
    DeptViewImpl.executeQueryForCollection() : getName() = DeptView, vParamNV[0] = LanguageBVar, vParamNV[1] = en(i3) Without entering an "Example Number ...", just click the "Update and Back to TestPage" button. This output is added on the console:
    CustomFacesPageLifecycle.prepareRender() : preferredLocale = en, uiViewRoot.getLocale() = en
    oracle.adf.controller.faces.lifecycle.FacesPageLifecycle addMessage
    WARNING: JBO-35007: Row currency has changed since the user interface was rendered. The expected row key was oracle.jbo.Key[20 ] ... and the "JBO-35007: Row currency ..." message also shows up on the page.
    (i4) Click the "Update and Back to TestPage" button again to return to the "start page".
    If I try a scenario similar to "i1 to i4" where I do provide an "Example Number ..." in step (i3), the first row gets updated instead of the one I selected in step (i2).
    To imporve this behaviour I replaced this line ...
            if (preferredLocale != uiViewRoot.getLocale()) {... with this line ...
            if (!preferredLocale.equals(uiViewRoot.getLocale())) {And after that, a scenario like "i1 to i4" behaves like this:
    (j1) Run TestPage.jspx and the "translated Dname" column shows "translated data" with suffix "(en)", the same as in (h1) and (i1). But only this output is added on the console:
    DeptViewImpl.executeQueryForCollection() : getName() = DeptView, vParamNV[0] = LanguageBVar, vParamNV[1] = en
    DeptViewImpl.executeQueryForCollection() : getName() = DepartmentList, vParamNV[0] = LanguageBVar, vParamNV[1] = en
    CustomFacesPageLifecycle.prepareRender() : preferredLocale = en, uiViewRoot.getLocale() = en(j2) Select a different row in the table, and click the "Edit Number on AnotherPage" button. This output is added on the console:
    CustomFacesPageLifecycle.prepareRender() : preferredLocale = en, uiViewRoot.getLocale() = en
    CustomFacesPageLifecycle.prepareRender() : preferredLocale = en, uiViewRoot.getLocale() = en(j3) Without entering an "Example Number ...", just click the "Update and Back to TestPage" button. This output is added on the console:
    CustomFacesPageLifecycle.prepareRender() : preferredLocale = en, uiViewRoot.getLocale() = en ... and no message on the page, just returning to the "start page".
    If I try a scenario similar to "j1 to j3" where I do provide an "Example Number ..." in step (j3), the correct row is updated.
    But, if I precede a scenario like "j1 to j3" with an explicit language change, things go wrong again.
    (k1) Run TestPage.jspx and the "translated Dname" column shows "translated data" with suffix "(en)", the same as in (h1), (i1) and (j1).
    (k2) Click on "Italian", the "translated Dname" column shows "translated data" with suffix "(it)", similar to step (h2).
    (k3) Select a different row in the table, and click the "Aggiorna Numero con AnotherPage" button. This output is added on the console:
    CustomFacesPageLifecycle.prepareRender() : preferredLocale = it, uiViewRoot.getLocale() = it
    CustomFacesPageLifecycle.prepareRender() : preferredLocale = it, uiViewRoot.getLocale() = en
    CustomFacesPageLifecycle.prepareRender() : preferredLocale = it, uiViewRoot.getLocale() = en : different so the Locale has changed
    CustomFacesPageLifecycle.prepareRender() : calling executeQuery() : preferredLocale = it, uiViewRoot.getLocale() = it
    DeptViewImpl.executeQueryForCollection() : getName() = DeptView, vParamNV[0] = LanguageBVar, vParamNV[1] = it(k4) Without entering an "Campo Numerico ...", just click the "Aggiorna e Ritorna a TestPage" button. This output is added on the console:
    CustomFacesPageLifecycle.prepareRender() : preferredLocale = it, uiViewRoot.getLocale() = it
    oracle.adf.controller.faces.lifecycle.FacesPageLifecycle addMessage
    WARNING: JBO-35007: La valuta della riga è cambiata da quando è stata visualizzata linterfaccia utente. La chiave di riga prevista era {0}. ... and the "JBO-35007: La valuta della riga ..." message also shows up on the page.
    (k5) Click the "Aggiorna e Ritorna a TestPage" button again to return to the "start page".
    see http://verveja.footsteps.be/~verveja/files/oracle/ChangeLanguageInTheUIForData-v0.05.zip (check README.txt)
    So, ...
    It looks like some "row currency issues" remain with this approach.
    regards
    Jan

  • JDeveloper, ADF, Maven & IDE-Independent Builds

    In the course of evaluating the possibility of using ADF for an upcoming project, I'm seeking clarification regarding the role that JDeveloper plays in ADF-based projects. My understanding is that JDev provides helpful application templates and design-time features, but that neither build nor deployment processes depend upon it. Is this actually the case?
    TIA,
    Eric Adamson
    Lansing, Michigan

    JDeveloper provides a visual development environment for ADF, but you can use ADF without JDeveloper as well.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/howtos/10g/adfalone/using_adf_without_jdev.html
    JDeveloper makes it very easy to also build and package ADF applications, but again you can use other tools to do that such as Ant and Maven.
    For example in JDeveloper you can create an ADF application and then choose to create Ant Build from project and you'll get an Ant build file that will be able to compile your project with all the libraries already defined there.

  • Can't get JSF tags to execute in Visual Editor (JDeveloper 10.1.3.0.3.3412)

    Hi,
    I have searched this discussion forum for this problem and apparently I can't find any solution / tried a few but none works. I am feeling quite frustrated about this as on Manning's "JavaServer Faces in Action" online extension gave real examples in JDeveloper that looked so attractive, but in reality it doesn't work!
    However, I could get 10.1.2 to associate with JSF by following online's howto's, but that would lose all the cool tools that come with 10.1.3 EA...
    I would appreciate it if anyone can provide a clue as how to make JSF tags execute in the Visual Editor...

    Hi shay,
    I discover that the problem was with my JSF source. I was importing from a source file (WAR) that comes with the book "JavaServer Faces in Action", when I import the file and try to open, I get a few exceptions shown on the console window, and the JSF tags were all unexecuted.
    And as I create a new JSF file on my own in JDeveloper, everything was fine...

  • Images do not display in Acmevideo sample application WebApp_8i.jws

    Hello,
    The JDeveloper 3 Acmevideo web application for Oracle8i is a nice-looking web application.
    There is a syntax fault in the Java source files WebAppReports.java, WebApp.java of the JDeveloper 3 workspace WebApp_8i.jws
    In the file acmevideo_deploy.properties I used something like this:
    ...imageURL=http://oashost:80/acmeimages/...
    All occurrences of "/topmovie.gif", "/onoracle.gif","/filmsquare.gif" in the java source files WebAppReports.java, WebApp.java should be replaced by "topmovie.gif","onoracle.gif","filmsquare.gif". Otherwise these images will not display correctly in the web application.
    I would like to know when Oracle will provide a tutorial on servlet deployment of the acmevideo web application to Oracle Application Server.
    I understand that by providng a Java Webserver servlet deployment example the JDeveloper customer is not dependent on Oracle Application Server as web server.
    How to deploy the acmevideo servlet to Oracle Application Server 4.0.8.1?
    Thank you in advance for your reaction,

    Hi Erik,
    For our next release, we are actually removing the Acme Video sample application. It will be replaced with the Web Auctions demo, which was used at the most recent Oracle Open World conference.
    Instructions for deploying DBServlets to OAS 4.0.8.1 are included in the JDeveloper 3.0 release notes.

    First, thanks for the suggestions Nick! And I have tried each of these steps you mentioned!
    1) Check your app is deployed and running in Tomcat Web Application Manager. -- YES, IT IS! I CAN SEE THE APPLICATION, RELOAD IT, STOP IT, ETC!
    2) If not deployed, check log file in logs\stdout.log to find out why it didn't deploy. (How are you deploying? Copying the war file across to \webapps?) - I TRIED DEPLOYING THE WAR FILE, THEN I DEPLOYED AN APPL CREATING THE DIRECTORY STRUCTURE, ETC! STILL NO LUCK!
    3) Make sure you're definitely hitting the correct URL (including the context path, which should also be shown in Web Application Manager) - OF COURSE I AM; EVERY APPL I DEPLOY RETURNS 404! THE NATIVE APPLICATIONS HOWEVER WORK FINE
    4) Can you deploy and run any apps in your standalone Tomcat instance? - I DIDNT GET THIS BUT AN APPL WHICH WORKS PERFECTLY FINE IN NETBEANS, ISNT WORKING IN THE STANDALONE TOMCAT!
    5) Try deploying a really simple app to see if that works. - DID & FAILED!

  • XML Parsing Error (that works in Eclipse)

    I have been working on an application using JIDE this afternoon.
    I have been using some of the examples that are provided.
    To start with I did the usual copy and paste action on one of their examples into JDeveloper so I could run it and walkthrough the code.
    Unfortunately it did not run properly and it was throwing the error below (in italics) at this line of code;
    InputStream layoutFileInputStream = (getClass().getClassLoader().getResourceAsStream(nameOfLayoutFile));
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: InputStream cannot be null

         at project.dev.workbench.view.DevWorkbench.main(DevWorkbench.java:34)
    I am presuming that it is a conflict with something in JDeveloper, a colleague of mine tried to run the same code in Eclipse and it worked fine.
    I managed to get it to work in JDeveloper by removing the following piece of code
    .getClassLoader()
    Any thoughts would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    David

    Use
    InputStream layoutFileInputStream = Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader().getResourceAsStream(nameOfLayoutFile);

  • Problem with "package-info.java" using EJB 3.0 and OC4J

    Hi all.
    I already posted this question on JDeveloper forum, but didn't get any answer,
    so I'll try posting here.
    Anyway, I'm new both to JDeveloper and J2EE,
    so I'm trying out examples for EJB 3.0, and I got stuck at "Use Security Annotations with EJB 3.0"
    (http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/java/oc4j/ejb3/howtos-ejb3/howtoejb30security/doc/how-to-ejb30-security-ejb.html).
    Example code is working perfectly, if one builds it using Ant, but I'm importing all examples into JDeveloper (or at least I'm trying to :))
    JDeveloper can't build file "package-info.java" containing following code:
    @javax.annotation.security.SecurityRoles(roleNames={"superuser", "user"})
    package oracle.ejb30;I'm getting following output in "Compiler - Log" window:
    Error(2,1): 'class', 'interface', or 'enum' expected.
    Help much appreciated...
    platform used:
    Windows XP SP2
    JDeveloper Studio (Version 10.1.3, Build 3412)
    JDK 1.5_06
    OC4J 10.1.3 developer preview 4 (standalone version)

    Since you're using EJBs, you can use JTA and can skip the getTransaction() calls. If you want to use getTransaction().begin() and commit(), then make sure that your EntityManager is resource-local. The configuration for this is in persistence.xml. Set a transaction-type of RESOURCE_LOCAL rather than JTA.

  • Train Stop Lables not Visible

    Hi All,
    I'm using Jdeveloper REL1 PS2 with ADFBC
    I'm having a problem getting my train stop labels to render. Besides the train stop label not being visible, everything else is working as advertised. I can navigate though the train stops, the data on my pages appears as expected.. etc.
    Here is what I've done so far:
    1. I created a bounded taskflow with page fragments and checked "create train" checkbox.
    2. In my task flow, I've assigned *<display-name>* values to each view activity participating in the train. See code below. According to the documentation I've read, this is what I need to set to label my train stops. However, when I run my task flow in a region, the the labels are not visible.
    I've read section 18.8 in the Fusion Developer's guide, I've followed examples in these two blogs:
    http://biemond.blogspot.com/2007/11/taskflow-train-in-jdeveloper-11g.html
    http://biemond.blogspot.com/2008/06/advanced-taskflow-train-features.html
    I've read previous posts regarding this issue like the this one:
    Re: Creating ADF Train
    Which states *"In Task flow click the View activity in structure window Right click Choose > insert inside > Display name and set the value to it."*
    I also went through the train taskflows and pages in the Fusion Order Demo app and I cannot see how my implementation of the taskflow or how I'm adding the af:train component to my .jsff pages is different from the examples that I've found.
    Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi,
    You need to first name the view activity to desired name first and then change the display name.You will find a good example in JDeveloper Help Topics under Cue Cards>Work with ADF Technologies>Implement a Multi-Step page Flow with ADF Train>Step 2
    For Ex:
    In the Application Navigator, select the ViewController project and open the Create Task Flow dialog. Enter train-flow.xml in the File Name field. Select both Create as Bounded Task Flow and Create with Page Fragments. Then select Create Train and click OK.
    From the Component Palette, ADF Task Flow page, Components panel, drag View and drop it on the blank canvas in the diagrammer. Rename the activity to start. Repeat the procedure to add three more view activities, using the following names: addresses, payment, review.
    Drag and drop Task Flow Return on the diagram. Accept the default name of taskFlowReturn1. In the Component Palette, click Control Flow Case. On the diagram, click the review icon, then click the taskFlowReturn1 icon. Rename the control flow case element to commit.
    In the Structure window, expand view - start . Right-click train-stop and choose Insert inside train-stop Display Name. In the Property Inspector, enter Start in the Display Name field. Repeat the procedure in step 6 to add train stop display names to the remaining view activities: view - addresses , view - payment, view - review . Use the following values, respectively: Addresses, Payment, Review. In the Application Navigator, select the ViewController project and open the Create Task Flow dialog again. Enter childtrain-flow.xml in the File Name field. Make sure Create as Bounded Task Flow and Create with Page Fragments are selected. Then select Create Train and click OK. From the Component Palette, drag View and drop it on the diagrammer. Rename the activity to billing. Repeat the procedure to add one more view activity, using the name shipping. Drag and drop Task Flow Return on the diagram. Change the name to childFlowReturn1. Draw a Control Flow Case from shipping to childFlowReturn1. Rename the case element to done. In the Structure window, expand view - billing. Right-click train-stop and choose Insert inside train-stop Display Name. In the Property Inspector, enter Billing in the Display Name field. Repeat the procedure in step 13 to add
    Hope this helps!

    Hi,
    How about using a menu model instead of a combo box? Check out this example : Oracle JDeveloper 11g Release 2 Tutorials - Creating ADF Menus for Page Navigation
