Audigy 2 Crashi

Hey all.
I have a pretty old version of the A2 card, and I've been looking around for a solution for days.
Right now, it's the oldest component in my PC; somewhere around 3 or 4 years old.
Sound Blaster Audigy 2, DR release 2.8.4
The problem:
When I first installed everything after I formatted(Console, Surround Mixer, Sound Bank, etc) I was able to set it to 5. easily, no problems whatsoever. The problem arose when I restarted. I usually don't restart my system for days at a time, since I don't really find it necessary. Initially, it came from all 5 speakers: front, rear and center. After the reboot, I noticed it came from the front only. I assumed it had just reset the settings, so I opened up the Console and tried to change it back to 5. via the dropdown menu. As soon as I clicked on ANYTHING else besides the 2. default, I got the BSOD.
I have been reinstalling everything for almost 2 weeks now, and I'm at the end of my rope, so to speak.
A friend just suggested to pick up the new X-Fi, as my card is so horrendously old that it's a problem unto itself. But I would rather try to solve this first without spending $200.
Any ideas?

Also, before anyone points it out: I can no longer install the Audigy sound drivers, it shows up as a Multimedia Sound Controller, and never changes. Before, It would BSOD when I tried to uninstall the original Audigy drivers.
I don't want to have to reformat again T_T

  • SoundBlaster Audigy driver crashing Adobe Flash

I just recently upgraded my computer to Windows 7. Everything else works great, except Flash. I go to any Flash related site, it crashes the web browser. I've tried Internet Explorer and Firefox and they both crash. When I disable the sound card and go to those same sites, they work without crashing, albeit with no sound. These are the drivers that Windows 7 installed automatically. I also tried the ones on the Creative website for Windows 7, same thing. Please help, I don't want to have to downgrade back to XP.

  • I am finally free of creative products under vi

I bought a new pc, and I opted to use integrated sound in vista. I have waited for a big chunk of time for a decent driver for audigy 2 and it never came. Creative you have lost a customer for life. Your lame audigy purchasing program is lame. I bought audigy vista crashed due to your craptacular driver. I had to download it again, and I pm catherine the mod here and never heard back about how to download it legally again. So I bought it yet again. Well vista crashed again after the driver. I kept kept getting errors.
Your audio quality in vista is absolutely terrible. So creative I am finally free from you.

If he contacted customer support, he would get the "since your product is purchased for over year ago, we don't offer direct support, please use the download site and forums" reply.
Maybe Creative should consider working a bit on the support part of the business.
Keep in mind, that many of to days X-Fi users have been upgrading with Creative Soundcards since the first Soundblaster release.
Those people are Creatives biggest advertisers.
If you start loosing them... who is going to tell others that Creative Soundcards are better then others?
Remember the power of mouth to mouth.

  • Dial up access crashes after SB Audigy 2Zs installat

My Audigy 2ZS sound card seems to work fine, although I'm just starting to explore the options.
My problem is that since I installed this product, I experience a hard crash (blue screen) whenever I try
to go online. I only have dial-up, but both aol and my other ISP show the same behavior. When I try to go on line, the system crashes.
Any suggestions? I need both sound and internet.

This absolutely sounds like a resource conflict to me. Try installing your Audigy 2 ZS into a different PCI slot. That will probably fix it.
    Good luck :robothappy:

  • Flash player 11.3 to 11.7.700.169 crash my sound card Creative audigy LS 5.1

flash player 11.3 to 11.7.700.169 crash my sound card Creative audigy LS 5.1, I Updated the sound card drivers, I run Windows XP pro, dirextx 9C 3GO ram, since winxp don't detected more then 3 GO over 4ram, I have a Nvidia video card but the video is not the issue here the audio is, ever since i updated flash player to 11.3 my sound keep crashing and no updated so far fix anything, I even tried to lower to 16 bit 48 mhz as suggested and that din't fix anything, I keep crash, also the only way to foix it I must manualy empty the temporary internet files and the temp files otherwise not even a reboot work, after i empty those files I need to reboot and the sound get back, I even tried to use the flash uninstall program before installing any updated, nothing work, i still get my sound card to crash...anyone know how to fix this issue? .I hope this will be fix soon, thank you.

As I say on my previous e-mail the problem started when I install the 10.3, and I did updated it every time there was an update t'ill now 11.7.700.169.
The problem started to happend only after I download flash player 11.3 , and still remain even after all the update to 11.7.700.169.
I can watch video the sound is good on firefox 20, that it not the problem here, the problem is after I have use flash player on blog or youtube , after I close the browser the sound card crash on all my device crash, I can't play mp3, or avi, the only sound I still can hear are the waves sound of windows.
I updated my sound card drivers, I even tried uninstall flash player using the program they sugess to download to uninstall flash player device.
I even try running the computer few days to see if my sound card was going to crash, I wasn't able to look any youtube video then, it was telling me I had to install the latess flash player device plugin to watch them,  but everything was running fine with out any problem , my sound card never crash then, on the mean time flash player did an updated so I download it, and right after it was install the same sound card problem start to happend all over again.
If I open my browser to watch a video on youtube or I go to a blog with webcam, right after I close the browser "wich is firefox 20 since I also updated firefox everytime to make sure it's not the problem"  The sound card crash, and the only way to make it work again is to before I reboot, I need to empty the temporary internet files manualy and the temp files, other wise even if I reboot the sound card won't work, if i don't empty those files, the problem remain.
I don't really understand how this happend and why, but I know that it's after I install the flash player  that all my sound card problem started to happend.
Now I would gladly go with out flash player if I could still blog or look youtube, this way the problem was solved for me, but I can, and it's very annoying to go to all this process everytime to get back my sound.
    Thank you.

I just did a full OS reinstall (I was overdue on it, and having this problem crop up only gave me another reason to get it done). I ran all the utilities off the driver disk that came with the card, and then used the creative auto-update feature to download all the latest drivers. Conflict with recent windows update, perhaps?

  • Skipping / jerky DVD DTS audio on Audigy 2 ZS also crash when using Media Source DVD-A pla

I've been having a difficult time playing 5. DVD audio using my new Audigy 2 ZS card. I have updated drivers from Creative.
When I try to play the DTS track on a DVD-A (e.g. Queen's "A Night at the Opera"), I get choppy skipping sound -- the music sounds good, but it skips and is jerky. The PCM 2-channel stereo on the same disc sounds fine. Dolby Surround on another DVD-A disk (not DTS), "Trey Anastasio" also starts out jerky and skippy, but then seems to "settle down" in the middle of the first track. The Creative Mediasource DVD-A player doesn't work at all on-- as soon as it launches, it crashes and reboots my computer (which suggests to me that it must be some driver conflict issue or something). That problem only happens when playing certain discs -- e.g. the Queen disk and the
    DVD-A of Yes' "Fragile."
I have installed on my system Windows Media Player 0, WinDVD 4 (OEM), Nero Showtime and Creative's Media Source DVD-A player.
    I am using a brand-new HP Pavilion a730n Windows XP SP2 52Mb RAM.
    DVD player is Lite-ON DVD/RW SOHW-832S
Video card is nVidia GeForce 6600
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

ok, I normally use powerdvd 6, now with dts 96/24 decoding pack, and I have the latest patch to version 47 installed.
it is the same again: when using 6 speakers in audio configuration menu, queen dvd plays perfectly, when using spdif output and decoding via zs card, sound is distorted. I noticed that if I activate "show information" in powerdvd, detected sound track changes between "dts 5.0" and "dts 5. 96/24" all the time in spdif mode.
is there a problem with powerdvd AND windvd or the audigy2 zs ?

  • Audigy 2 ZS crashes my comp

Here is the scoop, I bought and Audigy 2 Value and thing popped and cracked all the time so I took it back and paid the extra cash to go ZS. First of all I uninstalled the Audigy 2 Value software before I put in the Audigy 2 ZS. So I install the Audigy 2 ZS drivers from the CD and do the auto upade from the creative website and think I am all ready to go. Now I crash in windows all the time, it seems to be tottaly random. I took the card out and my system is stable, no problems what so ever. So I get driver cleaner and boot into safe mode and clean out all the creative drivers and put the Audigy 2 ZS in another PCI slot and reloaded and updated the drivers and still get the same problem. After my computer reboots I get an eroor msg that says a hardware device failed, when my comp reboots if I am listening to music it loops a second or so of sound a couple times before reboot. I have done everything I need to do in the BIOS, I know it is not a power issue and the wierd thing is that I can play games with EAX on and the sound quality on high for hours and my computer will not crash, it seems to only happen when I am in the OS so I have come to the conclusion that the card is fine there is just some sort of driver issure or something going on. Does anyone have any suggestions or have/had this problem?
    Thanks.
BTW both my Audigy and 2 Value had no problems in my computer what so ever.Message Edited by Mott on 0-24-2005 2:4 AM

  • Audigy 2 ZS Platinum - Weird Crash

    Hi everyone,
I have an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum and I am getting a crash in most of my games. The strange thing is I hear sounds repeating when the crash happens. Joint operations doesn't crash the system but the sound freaks out and I am able to select a different sound format from the menu and keep playing.
I am thinking the memory on the sound board may be bad. Is there a utility to test them memory?
The computer does pass all of the direct x tests and for the most part it works. The system will work from min to several hours before a crash will happen. Here are my system specs if you need them...
    P4 3.2 Intel
    .5GB Ram
    Asus P4C-800 Motherboard
EVGA Nvidia 6800 Ultra Video Card
    550 Watt power supply
    Windows XP Pro
Audigy 2 ZS Platinum with Creative 7. speakers - when they work they sound great
I have all windows updates and all of my drivers and motherboard bios are up to date.Message Edited by DrReaper on 0-22-2005 03:7 PM

    Hi guys
If your computer has any VIA chipset, and if your computer has any of the following problems, then you might need this driver.
The computer stops ("freezes", "hangs", "locks up"), or makes unusual noises when playing sounds.
The computer stops, or files are corrupted, when copying to or from an IDE DVD, CDROM, or CDRW dri've.
Sounds played by the computer are distorted or have a "crackling" noise.
The computer stops when playing 3D graphics or games, especially on an ATI Radeon series video card</LI>
There is a patch for VIA chipset and the patch WORKS for me! Try them at - http://www.georgebreese.com/net/software/ Look under "PCI Latency" patch for VIA chipsets. If you do not have a VIA chipset, you could also try the Turbo patch mention at that website.

  • System Crash by Audigy 2 ZS ...... (Critical Display & Sound Probl

    Hi All,
I have Creative Audigy 2 ZS and T7700 Speaker system. And i am currently running Windows XP Professional OS.
I have problem while running media source application, the system crashes after few minutes of operation. Earlier the system used to hang very rarely while running media source application. But it has become very frequent now. The system displays gets hang and it show noisy screen and the speaker output also chances to noise. Then i have no other option other than to turn off the system power and reboot the system again
I have tried after removing Audigy sound card from the system and the system worked fine for whole day with out any problems.
I am using intel motherboard D865GVCHZ. I have updated the system BIOS and latest drivers for the motherboard, but that was of no use.
Please help me to resolve this issue
    Thanks

    Thanks for you immediate response.
I have not removed the software & drivers installed for the audigy. But i tried after removing the Hardware (Audigy Sound Card) from the system.
I have installed all the drivers which comes along with the installation CD of audigy sound card.
After removing the audigy sound card from the system. I tested playing some movie file over windows media player and that work fine, although there was no sound as i had removed the sound card from the system. I used the system for running all complex softwares like WINDVD, WINAMP etc. as well as other development tools to find if the problem is due to motherboard or due to some other drivers. But i didnt find any problem in the system at all.
    Thanks

  • Audigy 2 ZS crashing Sys

    Hello!
I'm having massi've problems when using my Audigy 2 ZS (see below for my other hardware). What happens is, that my monitor is getting black for a second, picture comes back for a second, goes black again and so. Some seconds later the PC is no longer responding and I have to reset it. Mostly the operating system is damaged after this and my pc is not able to boot any more. Sometimes even other partitions on the dri've are damaged or gone. Before all this happens the system typically is running for hours or days without any problems. I can play games or listen to music or whatever. And suddenly it happens.
But now I found something that forces this behaviour. When i try to install FEAR (Sierra) the system is crashing for sure with the described symptoms.
When the audigy is not installed the system runs perfect for weeks without any crash. I've tried everything possible (changing PCI-slots, changing PCI-latency, different BIOS-versions, different (chipset-)drivers, RAM-Timings etc.) without any success.
Does anybody know what is going on and what to do? Is my audigy broken and should i send it in for warranty-replacement? What else can I do?
    Thanks in advance,
    Martin

    @John-CL:
I can do what I want, as long as the soundcard is installed the system crashes. Using the onboard audio instead of the audigy solves the problem. Don't see a problem with the memory sticks. Removed one (and then the other) and ran them slower than needed with no change.
As mentioned, the system runs fine without the card. It's also no problem if the card is only plugged in. But as soon as the drivers are installed it's just a matter of time.
There's only one more card installed (3Com NIC), but removed it also for testing reasons.
roblem with my hdd. Used another one for testing reasons with no difference. Even bought new ide-cable.
I know that many people are using this mainboard in combination with the audigy, so it can not be a common problem. The fact, that my system crashes reproducably when trying to install FEAR confuses me a little. Makes me think, it could be a software problem. But i have nothing special and no one else seems to have my problems. Maybe i simply send my card in for replacement and hope the best. Just don't know what else I could do...
Thanks for your answers so far

  • Audigy 2 ZS Crashes Games, Supreme Commander won't even load a m

I have a Creative Audigy 2 ZS and for some reason it seems to be the reason behind many game crashes. Often the crashes are accompanied by a looping sound after the game even closes. I have uninstalled the dri'ves and reinstalled the original I have from 2005. I tried to change its slot in the motherboard but it still doesn't work correctly. Supreme Commander will not even load the map for instance but if I disable the card it loads fine but then I have no sound to play with. What can be the problem? I have a Dell with
    P4 3.0
    Gig ram
    Nvidia 6800 256 MB
    Please help

I am also experiencing a problem with Supreme Commander on a SB Audigy 2 card. I get no sound at all or sometimes random buzzing or clicking noise. I think it is likely?an issue with the game since every other title seems to work very well on my system. The wierd thing is that I installed SupCom on my other PC that has a SB Li've 24 Bit card and it works!? Unfortunately the RAM and Video card on the secondary system are not good enough to play with reasonable FPS. Can anyone at Creative tell us if the no sound or crash issue is a title specific one, or if it applies to the Audigy cards? THQ are claiming to be working on a patch, but are a less specific about if the patch will address SB card problems. Thx. • Audigy 2 value and crash after installing and reboot

recently i bought the audigy 2 value model sb0400 sound card for the second time after i build myself a dream custom computer. Following installation i ran into a problem that reared its ugly head previously on my prior system that i eventually got so tired of trying to figure out that i returned the card. Whether i talk about the attempted installation on the old computer or the installation on the new computer there is one ever present problem of the computer crashing and not ever loading windows at all after installation. The installation of the drivers and bundled up software all appears to complete successfully prior to rebooting however when the comp is rebooted.........nothing a black screen appears instead of the windows xp loading which ends up never ever appearing. I would be very very greatful to anyone who might have a solution to this because in no way do i want to return the audigy card for the second time especially since absolutely everything i use in terms of sound is from creative 7. speakers and all.
    Best regards

Say again? I have that box. I have my optical put in, but I cant get dolby. Is this card suppose to decode dolby or not? I'm talking about XP, not vista.

  • Audigy 2 Value causing blue screen crashes in Fallout 3

A couple days ago I updated all my drivers and soon after realised that something was causing Fallout 3 to crash to a blue screen. After hours of trial and error I narrowed it down to the new Audigy driver cause when i uninstall the sound card the game works perfectly (except that there's no sound). I've tried rolling back to the drivers I was using before but for some crazy reason it's still crashing.
Another crazy thing is that no other game or program is having this problem.
Anyone have some advice or ideas about what to do?

wow....so I sent an email in to tech support asking for help with this problem and all I get in response is an email telling me that based on the information I provided they won't even look at my problem cause i'm no longer covered by the warranty....what a bunch of crap....
0 years of buying Sound Blaster sound cards, more than 8 of them during that time, and the first time I have a problem with one this is what I get?

Everything seems to be OK so it's propably the drivers for your modem that is causing the issue. Just try if updating them helps anything.
Also, you can turn the MPU-40 (onboard MIDI/Game port) if you dont need it.
